We present a new methodology, suitable for implementation on computer, to perform the $ε$-expansion of hypergeometric functions with linear $ε$ dependent Pochhammer parameters in any number of variables. Our approach allows one to perform Taylor as well as Laurent series expansion of multivariable hypergeometric functions. Each of the coefficients of $ε$ in the series expansion is expressed as a linear combination of multivariable hypergeometric functions with the same domain of convergence as that of the original hypergeometric function. We present illustrative examples of hypergeometric func…
It is proved that the Laurent expansion of the following Gauss hypergeometric functions, 2F1(I1+a*epsilon, I2+b*ep; I3+c*epsilon;z), 2F1(I1+a*epsilon, I2+b*epsilon;I3+1/2+c*epsilon;z), 2F1(I1+1/2+a*epsilon, I2+b*epsilon; I3+c*epsilon;z), 2F1(I1+1/2+a*epsilon, I2+b*epsilon; I3+1/2+c*epsilon;z), 2F1(I1+1/2+a*epsilon,I2+1/2+b*epsilon; I3+1/2+c*epsilon;z), where I1,I2,I3 are an arbitrary integer nonnegative numbers, a,b,c are an arbitrary numbers and epsilon is an arbitrary small parameters, are expressible in terms of the harmonic polylogarithms of Remiddi and Vermaseren with polynomial coefficie…
We review the hypergeometric function approach to Feynman diagrams. Special consideration is given to the construction of the Laurent expansion. As an illustration, we describe a collection of physically important one-loop vertex diagrams for which this approach is useful.
We continue our study of the construction of analytical coefficients of the epsilon-expansion of hypergeometric functions and their connection with Feynman diagrams. In this paper, we apply the approach of obtaining iteratated solutions to the differential equations associated with hypergeometric functions to prove the following result (Theorem 1): The epsilon-expansion of a generalized hypergeometric function with integer values of parameters is expressible in terms of generalized polylogarithms with coefficients that are ratios of polynomials. The method used in this proof provides an effici…
It is demonstrated that the well-regularized hypergeometric functions can be evaluated directly and numerically. The package NumExp is presented for expanding hypergeometric functions and/or other transcendental functions in a small regularization parameter. The hypergeometric function is expressed as a Laurent series in the regularization parameter and the coefficients are evaluated numerically by using the multi-precision finite difference method. This elaborate expansion method works for a wide variety of hypergeometric functions, which are needed in the context of dimensional regularizatio…
We show that almost all Feynman integrals as well as their coefficients in a Laurent series in dimensional regularization can be written in terms of Horn hypergeometric functions. By applying the results of Gelfand-Kapranov-Zelevinsky (GKZ) we derive a formula for a class of hypergeometric series representations of Feynman integrals, which can be obtained by triangulations of the Newton polytope $Δ_G$ corresponding to the Lee-Pomeransky polynomial $G$. Those series can be of higher dimension, but converge fast for convenient kinematics, which also allows numerical applications. Further, we dis…
In this talk, we discuss the algorithm for the construction of analytical coefficients of higher order epsilon expansion of some Horn type hypergeometric functions of two variables around rational values of parameters.
In this thesis we will study Feynman integrals from the perspective of A-hypergeometric functions, a generalization of hypergeometric functions which goes back to Gelfand, Kapranov, Zelevinsky (GKZ) and their collaborators. This point of view was recently initiated by the works [74] and [150]. Inter alia, we want to provide here a concise summary of the mathematical foundations of A-hypergeometric theory in order to substantiate this viewpoint. This overview will concern aspects of polytopal geometry, multivariate discriminants as well as holonomic D-modules. As we will subsequently show, ever…
Given a Feynman parameter integral, depending on a single discrete variable $N$ and a real parameter $ε$, we discuss a new algorithmic framework to compute the first coefficients of its Laurent series expansion in $ε$. In a first step, the integrals are expressed by hypergeometric multi-sums by means of symbolic transformations. Given this sum format, we develop new summation tools to extract the first coefficients of its series expansion whenever they are expressible in terms of indefinite nested product-sum expressions. In particular, we enhance the known multi-sum algorithms to derive recur…
Hypergeometric structures in single and multiscale Feynman integrals emerge in a wide class of topologies. Using integration-by-parts relations, associated master or scalar integrals have to be calculated. For this purpose it appears useful to devise an automated method which recognizes the respective (partial) differential equations related to the corresponding higher transcendental functions. We solve these equations through associated recursions of the expansion coefficient of the multivalued formal Taylor series. The expansion coefficients can be determined using either the package {\tt Si…
The quantum spectral curve equation associated to KP $τ$-functions of hypergeometric type serving as generating functions for rationally weighted Hurwitz numbers is solved by generalized hypergeometric series. The basis elements spanning the corresponding Sato Grassmannian element are shown to be Meijer $G$-functions, or their asymptotic series. Using their Mellin integral representation the $τ$-function, evaluated at the trace invariants of an externally coupled matrix, is expressed as a matrix integral.
The relationship between Feynman diagrams and hypergeometric functions is discussed. Special attention is devoted to existing techniques for the construction of the $ε$-expansion. As an example, we present a detailed discussion of the construction of the epsilon-expansion of the Appell function $F_3$ around rational values of parameters via an iterative solution of differential equations. As a by-product, we have found that the one-loop massless pentagon diagram in dimension $d=3-2ε$ is not expressible in terms of multiple polylogarithms. Another interesting example is the Puiseux-type solutio…
In this paper, we prove that the generalized Brézin-Gross-Witten tau-function is a hypergeometric solution of the BKP hierarchy with simple weight generating function. We claim that it describes a spin version of the strictly monotone Hurwitz numbers. A family of the hypergeometric tau-functions of the BKP hierarchy, corresponding to the rational weight generating functions, is investigated. In particular, the cut-and-join operators are constructed, and the explicit description of the BKP Sato Grassmannian points is derived. Representatives of this family can be associated with interesting fam…
The expansion of a modular graph function on a torus of modulus $τ$ near the cusp is given by a Laurent polynomial in $y= π\Im (τ)$ with coefficients that are rational multiples of single-valued multiple zeta-values, apart from the leading term whose coefficient is rational and exponentially suppressed terms. We prove that the coefficients of the non-leading terms in the Laurent polynomial of the modular graph function $D_N(τ)$ associated with a melon graph is free of irreducible multiple zeta-values and can be written as a polynomial in odd zeta-values with rational coefficients for arbitrary…
Modular graph functions associate to a graph an $SL(2,Z)$-invariant function on the upper half plane. We obtain the Fourier series of modular graph functions of arbitrary weight $w$ and two-loop order. The motivation for this work is to develop a deeper understanding of the origin of the algebraic identities between modular graph functions which have been discovered recently, and of the relation between the existence of these identities and the occurrence of cusp forms. We show that the constant Fourier mode, as a function of the modulus $τ$, consists of a Laurent polynomial in $y = π\, {\rm I…
