The elastic and large-angle quasi-elastic scattering reactions were studied with the same nucleus-nucleus potential proposed for describing fusion reactions. The elastic scattering angle distributions of some reactions are reasonably well reproduced by the proposed Woods-Saxon potential with fixed parameters at energies much higher than the Coulomb barrier. With an empirical barrier distribution based on the modified Woods-Saxon potential and taking into account the influence of nucleons transfer, the calculated quasi-elastic scattering cross sections of a series of reactions are in good agreement with the experimental data.
Cutting off the tail of the Woods-Saxon and generalized Woods-Saxon potentials changes the distribution of the poles of the $S$-matrix considerably. Here we modify the tail of the cut-off Woods-Saxon (CWS) and cut-off generalized Woods-Saxon (CGWS) potentials by attaching Hermite polynomial tails to them beyond the cut. The tails reach the zero value more or less smoothly at the finite ranges of the potential. Reflections of the resonant wave functions can take place at different distances. The starting points of the pole trajectories have been reproduced not only for the real values and the m…
The Woods-Saxon basis has achieved great success in both nonrelativistic and covariant density functional theories in recent years. Due to its nonanalytical nature, however, applications of the Woods-Saxon basis are numerically complicated and computationally time consuming. In this paper, based on the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc), we check in detail the convergence with respect to the basis space in the Dirac sea. An optimized Dirac Woods-Saxon basis is proposed, whose corresponding potential is close to the nuclear mean field. It is shown that the basi…
The bound state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions of the generalized Woods Saxon potential are obtained in terms of the Jacobi polynomials. Nikiforov Uvarov method is used in the calculations. It is shown that the results are in a good agreement with the ones obtained before.
A novel analytically solvable deformed Woods-Saxon potential is investigated by means of the Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics. Hamiltonian hierarchy method and the shape invariance property are used in the calculations. The energy levels are obtained for any l-state. The interrelations for some nuclear scattering processes are also discussed
Analytic average mean-field potentials of the Fermi-function (Woods-Saxon) type for the whole nuclear chart with space-dependent effective mass are deduced from the D1S Gogny force. Those ready-for-use potentials are advertised as an alternative to other existing phenomenological mean-field potentials.
By applying an appropriate Pekeris approximation to deal with the centrifugal term, we present an approximate systematic solution of the two-body spinless Salpeter (SS) equation with the Woods-Saxon interaction potential for arbitrary -state. The analytical semi-relativistic bound-state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions are calculated. Two special cases from our solution are studied: the approximated Schrödinger-Woods-Saxon problem for arbitrary l -state and the exact s-wave (l=0).
A Woods-Saxon equivalent to a double folding potential in the surface region is obtained for the heavy-ion scattering potential. The Woods-Saxon potential has fixed geometry and was applied as a bare potential in the analysis of experimental data of several systems. A new analytical formula for the position and height of the Coulomb barrier is presented, which reproduces the results obtained using double folding potentials. This simple formula has been applied to estimate the fusion cross section above the Coulomb barrier. A comparison with experimental data is presented.
The positions of the $l=0$ $S$-matrix poles are calculated in generalized Woods-Saxon (GWS) potential and in cut-off generalized Woods-Saxon (CGWS) potential. The solutions of the radial equations are calculated numerically for the CGWS potential and analytically for GWS using the formalism of Gy. Bencze \cite{[Be66]}. We calculate CGWS and GWS cases at small non-zero values of the diffuseness in order to approach the square well potential and to be able to separate effects of the radius parameter and the cut-off radius parameter. In the case of the GWS potential the wave functions are reflect…
The Dirac Equation is solved approximately for relativistic generalized Woods-Saxon potential including Coulomb-like tensor potential in exact pseudospin and spin symmetry limits. The bound states energy eigenvalues are found by using wavefunction boundary conditions, and corresponding radial wavefunctions are obtained in terms of hypergeometric function. Some numerical examples are given for the dependence of bound states energy eigenvalues on quantum numbers and potential parameters.
Exact solution of the Dirac equation for a special form of the Woods-Saxon potential is obtained for the s-states. The energy eigenvalues and two-component spinor wave functions are derived by using a systematical method which is called as Nikiforov-Uvarov. It is seen that the energy eigenvalues strongly depend on the potential parameters. In addition, it is also shown that the non-relativistic limit can be reached easily and directly.
Approximate analytical solutions in closed form are obtained for the 5-dimensional Bohr Hamiltonian with the Woods-Saxon potential, taking advantage of the Pekeris approximation and the exactly soluble one-dimensional extended Woods-Saxon potential with a dip near its surface. Comparison to the data for several gamma-unstable and prolate deformed nuclei indicates that the potential can describe well the ground state and gamma-1 bands of many prolate deformed nuclei corresponding to large enough "well size" and diffuseness, while it fails in describing the beta-1 bands, due to its lack of a har…
The drastically expanded use of the Woods-Saxon potential in modern day nuclear physics and the availability of new nuclear data motivated us to review and optimize the parameters of this potential to the experimental single-nucleon spectra around the doubly-magic nuclei between $^{16}$O and $^{208}$Pb. We obtain a parameterization which is applicable over the whole nuclear chart for nuclides between $^{16}$O and the heaviest elements. Apart from Coulomb components the obtained parameter set is isospin symmetric. We demonstrate that the potential provides a good description of the nuclear mean…
A realistic two-center shell model for fusion is proposed, which is based on two spherical Woods-Saxon potentials and the potential separable expansion method. This model describes the single-particle motion in a fusing system. A technique for calculating stationary diabatic states is suggested which makes use of the formal definition of those states, i.e., they minimize the radial nonadiabatic coupling between the adiabatic states. As an example the system $^{16}$O + $^{40}$Ca $\to$ $^{56}$Ni is discussed.
The motion of l=0 antibound poles of the S-matrix with varying potential strength is calculated in a cutoff Woods-Saxon (WS) potential and in the Salamon-Vertse (SV) potential, which goes to zero smoothly at a finite distance. The pole position of the antibound states as well as of the resonances depend on the cutoff radius, especially for higher node numbers. The starting points (at potential zero) of the pole trajectories correlate well with the range of the potential. The normalized antibound radial wave functions on the imaginary k-axis below and above the coalescence point have been found…
Recently, scattering of a Klein-Gordon particle in the presence of mixed scalar-vector generalized symmetric Woods-Saxon potential was investigated for the spin symmetric and the pseudo-spin symmetric limits in one spatial dimension. In this manuscript, the bound state solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation with mixed scalar-vector generalized symmetric Woods-Saxon potential are examined analytically within the framework of spin and pseudo-spin symmetry limits. We prove that the occurrence of bound state energy spectrum exists only in the spin symmetric limit, while in the pseudo-spin symmetri…
Approximate bound state solutions of the Dirac equation with -deformed Woods-Saxon plus a new generalized ring-shaped potential are obtained for any arbitrary L-state. The energy eigenvalue equation and corresponding two-component wave function are calculated by solving the radial and angular wave equations within a shortcut of the Nikiforov-Uvarov method. The solutions of the radial and polar angular parts of the wave function are expressed in terms of the Jacobi polynomials. A new approximation being expressed in terms of the potential parameters is carried out to deal with the strong singul…
We study the prolate-shape predominance of the nuclear ground-state deformation by calculating the masses of more than two thousand even-even nuclei using the Strutinsky method, modified by Kruppa, and improved by us. The influences of the surface thickness of the single-particle potentials, the strength of the spin-orbit potential, and the pairing correlations are investigated by varying the parameters of the Woods-Saxon potential and the pairing interaction. The strong interference between the effects of the surface thickness and the spin-orbit potential is confirmed to persist for six sets …
The energy eigenvalues and the wave functions of an $α$ particle in a Bohrium $270$ nucleus were calculated by solving Schrödinger equation for Generalized Symmetric Woods-Saxon potential. Using the energy spectrum by excluding and including the quasi-bound eigenvalues, entropy, internal energy, Helmholtz energy, and specific heat, as functions of reduced temperature were calculated. Stability and emission characteristics are interpreted in terms of the wave and thermodynamic functions. The kinetic energy of a decayed $α$ particle was calculated using the quasi-bound states, which is found clo…
The Woods-Saxon basis has been suggested to replace the widely used harmonic oscillator basis for solving the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory in order to generalize it to study exotic nuclei. As examples, relativistic Hartree theory is solved for spherical nuclei in a Woods-Saxon basis obtained by solving either the Schrödinger equation or the Dirac equation (labelled as SRHSWS and SRHDWS, respectively and SRHWS for both). In SRHDWS, the negative levels in the Dirac Sea must be properly included. The basis in SRHDWS could be smaller than that in SRHSWS which will simplify the deformed pro…
By using the Pekeris approximation, the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) equation is investigated for a vector deformed Woods-Saxon (dWS) potential. The parametric Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method is used in calculations. The approximate energy eigenvalue equation and the corresponding wave function spinor components are calculated for any total angular momentum J in closed form. The exact energy equation and wave function spinor components are also given for the J=0 case. We use a set of parameter values to obtain the numerical values for the energy states with various values of quantum levels (n,J) an…
The wobbling excitations of the triaxial superdeformed (TSD) bands in the Lu and Hf region are studied by the microscopic framework of the cranked mean-field and the random-phase approximation (RPA). In contrast to the previous works, where the Nilsson potential was used, the more realistic Woods-Saxon potential is employed as a nuclear mean-field. The wobbling-like RPA solutions have been found systematically in the nuclei studied and their characteristic properties are investigated in details. This confirms the wobbling phonon excitations in TSD nuclei from the microscopic calculations. The …
In a cut-off Woods-Saxon (CWS) potential with realistic depth $S$-matrix poles being far from the imaginary wave number axis form a sequence where the distances of the consecutive resonances are inversely proportional with the cut-off radius value, which is an unphysical parameter. Other poles lying closer to the imaginary wave number axis might have trajectories with irregular shapes as the depth of the potential increases. Poles being close repel each other, and their repulsion is responsible for the changes of the directions of the corresponding trajectories. The repulsion might cause that …
Recently, it has been investigated how the thermodynamic functions vary when the surface interactions are taken into account for a nucleon which is confined in a Woods-Saxon potential well, with a non-relativistic point of view. In this manuscript, the same problem is handled with a relativistic point of view. More precisely, the Klein-Gordon equation is solved in presence of mixed scalar-vector generalized symmetric Woods-Saxon potential energy that is coupled to momentum and mass. Employing the continuity conditions the bound state energy spectra of an arbitrarily parameterized well are deri…
In this study, we reveal the difference between Woods-Saxon (WS) and Generalized Symmetric Woods-Saxon (GSWS) potentials in order to describe the physical properties of a nucleon, by means of solving Schrödinger eq. for the two potentials. The additional term squeezes the WS potential well, which leads an upward shift in the spectrum, resulting in a more realistic picture. The resulting GSWS potential does not merely accommodate extra quasi bound states, but also has modified bound state spectrum. As an application, we apply the formalism to a real problem, an $α$ particle confined in Bohrium-…
The classical square well potential is smoothed with a finite range smoothing function in order to get a new simple strictly finite range form for the phenomenological nuclear potential. The smoothed square well form becomes exactly zero smoothly at a finite distance, in contrast to the Woods-Saxon form. If the smoothing range is four times the diffuseness of the Woods-Saxon shape both the central and the spin-orbit terms of the Woods-Saxon shape are reproduced reasonably well. The bound single particle energies in a Woods-Saxon potential can be well reproduced with those in the smoothed squar…
A modified Woods-Saxon potential model is proposed for a unified description of the entrance channel fusion barrier and the fission barrier of fusion-fission reactions based on the Skyrme energy-density functional approach. The fusion excitation functions of 120 reactions have been systematically studied. The fusion (capture) cross sections are well described with the calculated potential and an empirical barrier distribution. Incorporating a statistical model (HIVAP code) for describing the decay of the compound nucleus, the evaporation residue (and fission) cross sections of 51 fusion-fissio…
The experimental binding energies of single-particle and single-hole neutron states belonging to neutron shells that extend from N = 126 to 184 and 82 to 126 respectively, have been reproduced by solving the Schrödinger equation with a potential that has two components: the generalized Woods-Saxon (GWS) potential and the spin-orbit (SO) coupling term. The GWS potential contains the traditional WS potential plus a term (SU) whose intensity reaches a maximum in the nuclear surface. Our results indicate the existence of a explicit relationship between the strength of the SU potential and the orbi…
By using the Pekeris approximation, the Schrodinger equation is approximately solved for the nuclear deformed Woods-Saxon potential within the framework of the asymptotic iteration method. The energy levels are worked out and the corresponding normalized eigenfunctions are obtained in terms of hypergeometric function.
The exact analytical solution of the Schrödinger equation for a generalized symmetrical Woods-Saxon potential are examined for a nucleon in Fluorine 17 nucleus for bound and quasi-bound states in one dimension. The wave functions imply that the nucleon is completely confined within the nucleus, i.e., no decay probability for bound states, while tunneling probabilities arise for the quasi-bound state. We have calculated the temperature dependent Helmholtz free energies, the internal energies, the entropies and the specific heat capacities of the system. It is shown that, when the quasi-bound st…
We derive a simple Woods-Saxon type form for the potentials between $Y=Ξ, Ω$ and $α$ by using a single-folding potential method, based on a separable $Y$-nucleon potential. Accordingly, the potentials $Ξ+α$ and $Ω+α$ are obtained using the ESC08c Nijmegens $ΞN$ potential (in $^{3}S_{1}$ channel) and HAL QCD Collaboration $ΩN$ interactions (in lattice QCD), respectively. In deriving the potential between $Y$ and $α$, the same potential between $Y$ and $N$ is used. Binding energy, scattering length and effective range of $Y$ particle on the alpha particle are approximated by the resultant potent…
We present a computer program which solves the Schrodinger equation of the stationary states for an average nuclear potential of Woods-Saxon type. In this work, we take specifically into account triaxial (i.e. ellipsoidal) nuclear surfaces. The deformation is specified by the usual Bohr parameters. The calculations are carried out in two stages. In the first, one calculates the representative matrix of the Hamiltonian in the cartesian oscillator basis. In the second stage one diagonalizes this matrix with the help of subroutines of the EISPACK library. If it is wished, one can calculate all ei…
By using a phenomenologically successful Woods-Saxon potential, I study the shape and shell structure of (A) neutron drip line nuclei with 10 \leq N \leq 60, (B) neutron-rich nuclei related to the r- process with 40 \leq N \leq 90, and (C) one-particle spectra in the potential provided by the nucleus 70Fe as a representative of so-called N=40 "island of inversion (IoI)" nuclei. First, the shell structure that is unique in very weakly-bound neutrons is systematically studied, and the approximate neutron number of odd-N nuclei at which spherical (or deformed) halos can be found is pinned down. S…
The experimental data on elastic and inelastic scattering of 270 MeV 3He particles to several low lying states in 90Zr, 116Sn and 208Pb are analyzed within the double folding model (DFM). Fermi density distribution (FDD) of target nuclei is used to obtain real potentials with different powers. DF results are introduced into modified DWUCK4 code to calculate the elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections. Two choices of potentials form factors; Woods Saxon (WS) and Woods Saxon Squared (WS2) for real potential are used, while the imaginary part is taken as phenomenological Woods Saxon (PWS)…
The Woods-Saxon-Gaussian (WSG) potential is proposed as a new phenomenological potential to describe systematically the level scheme, electromagnetic transitions, and alpha-decay half-lives of the alpha-cluster structures in various alpha+closed shell nuclei. It modifies the original Woods-Saxon (WS) potential with a shifted Gaussian factor centered at the nuclear surface. We determine the free parameters in the WSG potential by reproducing the correct level scheme of $^{212}\text{Po}={}^{208}\text{Pb}+α$. It is found that the resulting WSG potential matches with the M3Y double-folding potenti…
Recently, it has been shown that the generalized symmetric Woods-Saxon potential energy, in which surface interaction terms are taken into account, describes the physical processes better than the standard form. Therefore in this study, we investigate the scattering of Klein-Gordon particles in the presence of both generalized symmetric Woods-Saxon vector and scalar potential. In one spatial dimension we obtain the solutions in terms of hypergeometric functions for spin symmetric or pseudo-spin symmetric cases. Finally, we plot transmission and reflection probabilities for incident particles w…
The bound state solution of the radial Schrödinger equation with the generalized Woods-Saxon potential is carefully examined by using the Pekeris approximation for arbitrary $\ell$ states. The energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions are analytically obtained for different $n$ and $\ell$ quantum numbers. The obtained closed forms are applied to calculate the single particle energy levels of neutron orbiting around $^{56}$Fe nucleus in order to check consistency between the analytical and Gamow code results. The analytical results are in good agreement with the results obtained b…
The nucleon differential elastic scattering cross sections, the total proton reaction cross sections, and the single-particle energies of nucleon bound states for 40Ca, 90Zr and 208Pb are reanalyzed in terms of the dispersive optical model at energy ranging from -75 MeV to +60 MeV. The resultant real effective Woods-Saxon potential, which corresponds to the dispersive optical model potential, is studied as dependent on A, Z, and E and on projectile type (proton or neutron). For the first time, a parameterization of the Woods-Saxon real part of the nucleon-nucleus potential is proposed for the …
The bound state energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions of the generalized Woods-Saxon potential reported in [Phys. Rev. C 72, 027001 (2005)] is extended to the fractional forms using the generalized fractional derivative and the fractional Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) technique. Analytical solutions of bound states of the Schrodinger equation for the present potential are obtained in the terms of fractional Jacobi polynomials. It is demonstrated that the classical results are a special case of the present results at Elfa=Beta=1 Therefore, the present results play important role in mo…
Alpha elastic scattering of p-nuclei were studied for calculating optical potentials. Choice of the $α$-optical potentials are important to measure the reaction rates of p-process. $^{106}$Cd$(α,α)^{106}$Cd and $^{113}$In$(α,α)^{113}$In elastic scattering cross-section data were used to determine the potential parameter sets at E$_{lab}$= 16.1-27 MeV for $^{106}$Cd and E$_{lab}$=16.14, 19.4 MeV for $^{113}$In system. A Wood-Saxon potential form factor is used for both real and imaginary part. The potential parameters extracted in the present study exhibit a satisfactory result with respect to …
Masses of superheavy (SH) nuclei with $Z=98-128$, including odd and odd-odd nuclei, are systematically calculated within the microscopic-macroscopic model based on the deformed Woods-Saxon potential. Ground states are found by minimizing energy over deformations and configurations. Pairing in odd particle-number systems is treated either by blocking or by adding the BCS energy of the odd quasiparticle. Three new parameters are introduced which may be interpreted as the constant mean pairing energies for even-odd, odd-even and odd-odd nuclei. They are adjusted by a fit to masses of heavy nuclei…
Halo phenomenon in deformed nuclei is studied by using a fully self-consistent deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model in a spherical Woods-Saxon basis with the proper asymptotic behavior at large distance from the nuclear center. Taking a deformed neutron-rich and weakly bound nucleus $^{44}$Mg as an example and by examining contributions of the halo, deformation effects, and large spatial extensions, we show a decoupling of the halo orbitals from the deformation of the core.
The wave Schrodinger and, to clarify one interesting point encountered in the calculations, Klein-Gordon equations are solved exactly for a single neutron moving in a central Woods-Saxon plus an additional potential that provides a flexibility to construct the surface structure of the related nucleus. The physics behind the solutions and the reliability of the results obtained are discussed carefully with the consideration of other related works in the literature. In addition, the exhaustive analysis of the results reveals the fact that the usual Woods-Saxon potential cannot be solved analytic…
Motivated by the observation of a recent renewal of rather strong interest in the description of bound states by (semi-) relativistic equations of motion, we revisit, for the example of the Woods-Saxon interactions, the eigenvalue problem posed by the spinless Salpeter equation and recall various elementary knowledge, considerations, and techniques that practitioners seeking solutions to this specific reduction of the Bethe-Salpeter equation may find helpful.
By employing the Pekeris approximation, the D-dimensional Schrödinger equation is solved for the nuclear deformed Woods-Saxon potential plus double ring-shaped potential within the framework of the Asymptotic Iteration Method (AIM). The energy eingenvalues are given in a closed form and the corresponding normalized eigenfunctions are obtained in terms of hypergeometric functions. Our general results reproduce many predictions obtained in the literature, using the Nikiforov-Uvarov method (NU) and the Improved Quantization Rule approach, particulary those derived by considering Woods-Saxon poten…
More recently, comprehensive application results of approximate analytical solutions of the Woods-Saxon potential in closed form for the 5-dimensional Bohr Hamiltonian have been appeared [14] and its comparison to the data for many different nuclei has clearly revealed the domains for the sucsess and failure in case of using such potential forms to analyse the data concerning with the nuclear structure of deformed nuclei within the frame of the collective model. Gaining confidence from this work, exact solvability of the Woods-Saxon type potentials in lower dimensions for the bound states havi…
We have implemented spherical harmonics in default Wood Saxon distribution of the HIJING model and calculated various physical observables such as transverse momentum, charged particle multiplicity, nuclear modification factor and particle ratios for charged particles at top RHIC energy with collisions of Uranium (U) nuclei. Results have been compared with available experimental data. We observe that, a particular type of collision configuration can produce significant magnitude change in observables. We have noticed that the tip-tip configuration shows higher magnitude of particle yield in ce…
The formation of the QCD vacuum with nonzero winding number $Q_w$ during relativistic heavy-ion collisions breaks the parity and charge-parity symmetry. A new kind of field configuration can separate charge in the presence of a background magnetic field-the "chiral magnetic effect". The strong magnetic field and the QCD vacuum can both completely be produced in the noncentral nuclear-nuclear collision. Basing on the theory of Kharzeev,Mclerran and Warringa, we use the Wood-Saxon nucleon distribution to replace that of the uniform distribution to improve the magnetic field calculation method of…
Three models of the nuclear magnetization distribution are applied to predict the hyperfine structure of the hydrogenlike heavy ions and neutral thallium atoms: the uniformly magnetized ball model and single-particle models for the valence nucleon with the uniform distribution and the distribution determined by the Woods-Saxon potential. Results for the hydrogenlike ions are in excellent agreement with previous studies. The application of the Woods-Saxon model is now extended to the neutral systems with the explicit treatment of the electron correlation effects within the relativistic coupled …
Background: One important ingredient for many applications of nuclear physics to astrophysics, nuclear energy, and stockpile stewardship are cross sections for reactions of neutrons with rare isotopes. Since direct measurements are often not feasible, indirect methods, e.g. (d,p) reactions, should be used.} Those (d,p) reactions may be viewed as three-body reactions and described with Faddeev techniques. Purpose: Faddeev equations in momentum space have a long tradition of utilizing separable interactions in order to arrive at sets of coupled integral equations in one variable. While there exi…
We study a non-relativistic particle subject to a three-dimensional spherical potential consisting of a finite well and a radial $δ$-$δ'$ contact interaction at the well edge. This contact potential is defined by appropriate matching conditions for the radial functions, thereby fixing a self adjoint extension of the non-singular Hamiltonian. Since this model admits exact solutions for the wave function, we are able to characterize and calculate the number of bound states. We also extend some well-known properties of certain spherically symmetric potentials and describe the resonances, defined …
The first and second Born approximation are studied with the path integral representation for $ {\cal T} $ matrix. The $ {\cal T}$ matrix is calculated for Woods-Saxon potential scattering. To make corresponding integrals solvable analytically, an approximate function for the Woods-Saxon potential is used. Finally it shown that the Born series is converge at high energies and orders higher than two in Born approximation series can be neglected.
This work explores a holographic proposal to describe light nuclide spectroscopy by considering extensions to the well-known bottom-up AdS/QCD proposals, the hardwall and softwall models. We also propose an alternative description inspired by the Woods-Saxon potential. We find the static dilaton associated with this potential in this Wood-Saxon-like model. We compute the nuclide spectra finding that, despite their pure AdS/QCD origin, hardwall and softwall, as monoparametric models, have good accuracy and precision since the RMS error is near 11 $\%$ and 4 $\%$ respectively. In the case of the…

The coupled-channels technique is applied to analyze recent fusion data for $^{48}$Ca+$^{48}$Ca. The calculations include the excitations of the low-lying $2^+$, $3^-$ and $5^-$ states in projectile and target, and the influence of mutual excitations as well as the two-phonon quadrupole excitations is also investigated. The ion-ion potential is obtained by double-folding the nuclear densities of the reacting nuclei with the M3Y+repulsion effective interaction but a standard Woods-Saxon potential is also applied. The data exhibit a strong hindrance at low energy compared to calculations that ar…
We previously proposed a formula for calculating the Coulomb energy of spherical nucleus with Wood-Saxon charge distribution. In this work, the analytical formula is extended for description of the Coulomb energy of nucleus with beta2 deformation.
Neutrino reaction cross-sections, $(ν_μ,μ^-)$, $(ν_e,e^-)$, $μ$-capture and photoabsorption rates on $^{12}$C are computed within a large-basis shell-model framework, which included excitations up to $4\hbarω$. When ground-state correlations are included with an open $p$-shell the predictions of the calculations are in reasonable agreement with most of the experimental results for these reactions. Woods-Saxon radial wave functions are used, with their asymptotic forms matched to the experimental separation energies for bound states, and matched to a binding energy of 0.01 MeV for unbound state…
The classical trajectories of single particle motion in a Wodds-Saxon and a modified Nilsson potential are studied for axial quadrupole deformation. Both cases give rise to chaotic behaviour when the deformation in the Woods-Saxon and the l**2 term in the modified Nilsson potential are turned on. Important similarities, in particular with regard to the shortest periodic orbits, have been found.
