In many extensions of the standard model, the Higgs sector often contains an additional pseudoscalar boson. A good example is the SU(3) simplest little Higgs model, which accommodates a light pseudoscalar boson $η$ with quite different characteristics from those in other multi-Higgs-doublet models. We study various phenomenological signatures of the $η$ at the LHC. In particular, we calculate in details both production and decays in the Drell-Yan type channel $q \bar{q} \to Z/Z' \to h η$, and in the associated production with a $t\bar t$ pair, $gg (q\bar q) \to t \bar t η$. We emphasize the $τ^+ τ^-$ decay mode of the $η$ boson when its mass is below the $b\bar b$ threshold. We show that $t\bar t η$ production is in fact large enough to give a sizable number of events while suppressing the backgrounds. We also comment on the direct gluon fusion process and the indirect decay from the heavy $T$ quark ($T \to t η$)
The simplest little Higgs model predicts a light pseudoscalar boson $η$ and opens up some new decay modes for $Z$-boson, such as $Z \to \bar{f} f η$, $Z\to ηηη$, $Z\to ηγ$ and $Z\to ηgg$. We examine these decay modes in the parameter space allowed by current experiments, and find that the branching ratios can reach $10^{-7}$ for $Z\to \bar{b}bη$, $10^{-8}$ for $Z\to \barττη$, and $10^{-8}$ for $Z\to ηγ$, which should be accessible at the GigaZ option of the ILC. However, the branching ratios can reach $10^{-12}$ for $Z\to ηηη$, and $10^{-11}$ for $Z\to ηgg$, which are hardly accessible at the …
We discuss the properties of light pseudoscalar particles, the so-called pseudoaxions, within Little Higgs models, focusing on their phenomenology at the ILC. We especially discuss a method of how to distinguish between the two basic classes of Little Higgs models, the product and simple group models, by a specific production channel and decay mode. These are strictly forbidden in the product group models.
In the framework of the simplest little Higgs model (SLHM), we perform a comprehensive study for the pair productions of the pseudoscalar boson η and SM-like Higgs boson h at LHC, namely gg(b\bar{b})-> ηη, gg(q\bar{q})-> ηh and gg(b\bar{b})-> hh. These production processes provide a way to probe the couplings between Higgs bosons. We find that the cross section of gg-> ηη always dominates over that of b\bar{b}-> ηη. When the Higgs boson h which mediates these two processes is on-shell, their cross sections can reach several thousand $fb$ and several hundred $fb$, respectively. When the interme…
The SU(3) simplest little Higgs model in its original framework without the so-called mu term inevitably involves a massless pseudoscalar boson eta, which is problematic for b-physics and cosmological axion limit. With the mu term introduced by hand, the eta boson acquires mass m_eta ~ mu, which can be lighter than half the Higgs boson mass in a large portion of the parameter space. In addition, the introduced mu term generates sizable coupling of H-eta-eta. The Higgs boson can dominantly decay into a pair of eta's especially when mH below the WW threshold. Another new decay channel of H->Z+et…
We study two-body decays of a new neutral pseudoscalar into gauge bosons within the context of the Littlest Higgs model. Concretely, the $Φ^P \to WW, VV, gg$ processes induced at the one-loop level, with $V=γ, Z$, are considered. Since the branching ratios of the $Φ^P \to VV$ decays result very suppressed, only the $Φ^P \to WW, gg$ processes are thoroughly studied. The branching ratios for the $Φ^P \to gg$ and $Φ^P \to WW$ decays are of the order of $10^{-4}$ and $10^{-6}$, respectively, for $f$ around 2 TeV, which represents the global symmetry breaking scale of the theory. The production cro…
We investigate a variation of the Simplest Little Higgs (SLH) model that is invariant under a discrete $\CZ_2$ symmetry. Our motivation for imposing this symmetry is the two dark matter candidates it implies, a scalar $η$ and a heavy neutrino. We examine the viability of these two candidates using the standard relic abundance calculation. Direct detection prospects are also discussed.
Little Higgs models may provide a viable alternative to supersymmetry as an extension of the Standard Model. After the introduction of a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry, dubbed T-parity into Little Higgs models they also contain a promising dark matter candidate. We investigate a heavy neutrino as a dark matter candidate in the Simplest Little Higgs with T-parity (SLHT) model. First we calculate relic density constraints on the parameter space of the model and then discuss collider signatures for the SLHT dark matter.
We show that the SU(3) little Higgs model has a region of parameter space in which electroweak symmetry breaking is natural and in which corrections to precision electroweak observables are sufficiently small. The model is anomaly free, generates a Higgs mass near 150 GeV, and predicts new gauge bosons and fermions at 1 TeV.
The little Higgs scenario may provide an interesting framework to accommodate TeV scale leptogenesis because a TeV Majorana mass of the right-handed neutrino that we employ for the latter may find a natural place near the ultraviolet cutoff of the former. In this work we study how a light neutrino spectrum, generated radiatively, and TeV scale leptogenesis can be embedded in the simplest little Higgs framework. Alternatively, we highlight how the neutrino Yukawa textures of the latter are constrained.
In SU(3) simplest little Higgs model, a characteristic particle is the light pseudoscalar boson eta, it leads interesting signals in the LHC/ILC and is studied in literature with different parameterizations. In this work, we show that these different descriptions for eta particle are equivalent up to some SU(3) rotations as long as we suitably redefine the pseudo Goldstone boson fields. We evaluate the necessary SU(3) rotations and built up explicit expressions for redefined fields.
The colored SU(2)-singlet heavy T-quark is one of the most crucial ingredients in little Higgs models, which is introduced to cancel the largest contribution of the SM top quark to the Higgs boson mass at one-loop level. In two representative little Higgs models, the littlest Higgs model and the SU(3) simplest Higgs model, we comprehensively study the single heavy T-quark production at Large Hadron Collider (LHC). After presenting the possibility of relatively light (~500 GeV) T-quark in the simplest little Higgs model, we consider all the relevant processes, the 2->2 process of qb->q'T, the 2…
The simplest little Higgs model based on a SU(3) global symmetry contains a $SU(3)_{weak}$ triplet and a singlet per a generation in the lepton sector. A neutral component of the triplet and the singlet turn into a neutral vector-like $SU(2)_L$ singlet after electroweak symmetry breaking while the other neutral component of the triplet is the SM neutrino. At tree level, Yukawa couplings of the lepton sector not only allow the neutral vector-like lepton to couple to the SM neutrino, but also give them a Dirac mass. Majorana mass terms for the SM neutrinos and their partners arise at one loops, …
The issue of deriving $ZHη$ vertex in the simplest Little Higgs (SLH) model is revisited. Special attention is paid to the treatment of non-canonically-normalized scalar kinetic matrix and vector-scalar two-point transitions. We elucidate a general procedure to diagonalize a general vector-scalar system in gauge theories and apply it to the case of SLH. The resultant $ZHη$ vertex is found to be different from those which have already existed in the literature for a long time. We also present an understanding of this issue from an effective field theory viewpoint.
Recently obtained NNLO exact corrections for Higgs and Pseudoscalar Higgs boson production in hadron colliders are compared with approximate ones. As shown before, it is found that there is a range of a proper variable where these corrections differ little.
From the total cross section for the reaction $e^+e^-\to τ^+τ^-γ$ at the $Z_1$ pole and in the framework of a simplest little Higgs model (SLHM), we get a limit on the characteristic energy scale of the model $f$, $f \geq 5.4$ $TeV$, which in turn induces bounds on the electromagnetic and weak dipole moments of the tau-lepton. Our bounds on the electromagnetic moments are consistent with the bounds obtained by the L3 and OPAL collaborations for the reaction $e^+e^-\to τ^+τ^-γ$. We also obtained bounds on the tau weak dipole moments which are consistent with the bounds obtained recently by the …
The flavor sector of Little Higgs models based on product groups, notably the Littlest Higgs with T parity (LHT), has been extensively studied and some amount of fine tuning was found to be required to meet the experimental constraints. However, no such attention has been paid to other classes of models. Here we analyze the phenomenology of flavor mixing in the lepton sector of a simple group model, the Simplest Little Higgs (SLH). We obtain the Feynman rules of the SLH in the 't Hooft-Feynman gauge up to the necessary order and calculate the leading contributions to the rare processes mu -> e…
Little Higgs models have an enlarged global symmetry which makes the Higgs boson a pseudo-Goldstone boson. This symmetry typically contains spontaneously broken U(1) subgroups which provide light electroweak-singlet pseudoscalars. Unless such particles are absorbed as the longitudinal component of $Z'$ states, they appear as pseudoscalars in the physical spectrum at the electroweak scale. We outline their significant impact on Little Higgs phenomenology and analyze a few possible signatures at the LHC and other future colliders in detail. In particular, their presence significantly affects the…
We proposed how spontaneous CP-violation can be generated in the simplest little Higgs model in this talk. Comparing with the original paper, both formalism and phenomenology are updated. The model is still alive facing the collider and electric dipole moment (EDM) measurements. Strictest constraint comes from LHC $Z'$ direct search, which leads to $f\gtrsim8~\textrm{TeV}$. Higgs measurements also set strict constraint on the scalar mixing angle, if the Higgs rare decay channel is open. EDM measurements still set weak constraints for this model, even after the recent ACME updated measurement o…
In the framework of the simplest little Higgs model (SLHM), we study the production of a pair of neutral CP-even Higgs bosons at the LHC. First, we examine the production rate and find that it can be significantly larger than the SM prediction. Then we investigate the decays of the Higgs-pair and find that for a low Higgs mass their dominant decay mode is hh->ηηηη(ηis a CP-odd scalar) while hh->b\bar{b}ηηand hh->ηηWW may also have sizable ratios. Finally, we comparatively study the rates of pp-> hh -> b\bar{b}τ^+ τ^-, pp->hh->b\bar{b}γγ, and pp->hh->WWWW in the SLHM and the littlest Higgs mode…
We derive the leptonic neutral current in the simplest little Higgs model and compute the contribution of the model to the decay width $Z \to e^+e^-$. Using the precision electroweak data we obtain a strong lower bound $f\geq 5.6$ TeV at 95% C.L. on the characteristic energy scale of the model. It results in a lower bound for the new gauge bosons $W^{\prime\pm}$ and $Z^{\prime}$ as being $M_{W^{\prime\pm}}\geq 2.6$ TeV and $M_{Z^{\prime}}\geq 3.1$ TeV, respectively. We also present the allowed values of the $k=f_1/f_2$ which is the parameter relating the two vacuum expectation values of the sc…
We present an ultra-violet extension of the "simplest little Higgs" model. The model marries the simplest little Higgs at low energies to two copies of the "littlest Higgs'' at higher energies. The result is a weakly coupled theory below 100 TeV with a naturally light Higgs. The higher cutoff suppresses the contributions of strongly coupled dynamics to dangerous operators such as those which induce flavor changing neutral currents and CP violation. We briefly survey the distinctive phenomenology of the model.
We study Lepton Flavour Violating hadron decays of the tau lepton within the Simplest Little Higgs model. Namely we consider $τ\rightarrow μ(P, V, PP)$ where $P$ and $V$ are short for a pseudoscalar and a vector meson. We find that, in the most positive scenarios, branching ratios for these processes are predicted to be, at least, four orders of magnitude smaller than present experimental bounds.
We obtain analytical expressions, both in terms of parametric integrals and Passarino-Veltman scalar functions, for the one-loop contributions to the anomalous weak magnetic dipole moment (AWMDM) of a charged lepton in the framework of the simplest little Higgs model (SLHM). Our results are general and can be useful to compute the weak properties of a charged lepton in other extensions of the standard model (SM). As a by-product we obtain generic contributions to the anomalous magnetic dipole moment (AMDM), which agree with previous results. We then study numerically the potential contribution…
We proposed the spontaneous CP-violation in the Simplest Little Higgs model. In this model, the pseudoscalar field can acquire a nonzero vacuum expected value. It leads to a mixing between the two scalars with different CP-charge, which means spontaneous CP-violation happens. It is also a connection between composite Higgs mechanism and CP-violation. Facing the experimental constraints, the model is still alive for both scenarios in which the extra scalar appears below or around the electro-weak scale. We also discussed the future collider tests on CP-violation in the scalar sector through mea…
The dominance of $h\to ηη$ decay mode for the intermediate mass Higgs boson is highly motivated to solve the little hierarchy problem and to ease the tension with the precision data. However, the discovery modes for $m_h \alt 150$ GeV, $h \to γγ$ and $W/Z h \to (\ellν/\ell \bar \ell) (b\bar b)$, will be substantially affected. We show that $h \to ηη\to 4b$ is complementary and we can use this decay mode to detect the intermediate Higgs boson at the LHC, via $Wh$ and $Zh$ production. Requiring at least one charged lepton and 4 $B$-tags in the final state, we can identify a clean Higgs boson sig…
We analyze the scalar potential of the Simplest Little Higgs (SLH) model in an approach consistent with the spirit of continuum effective field theory (CEFT). By requiring correct electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) with the $125\,\text{GeV}$ Higgs boson, we are able to derive a relation between the pseudo-axion mass $m_η$ and the heavy top mass $m_T$, which serves as a crucial test of the SLH mechanism. By requiring $m_η^2>0$ an upper bound on $m_T$ can be obtained for any fixed SLH global symmetry breaking scale $f$. We also point out that an absolute upper bound on $f$ can be obtained by i…
We carry out an exhaustive analysis of lepton flavor violating processes within the Simplest Little Higgs model. Its discovery could be expected from either $μ\to e$ conversion in nuclei, $μ\to eγ$ or $μ\to3e$ decays. Then, the tau sector could help discriminating this model not only via $τ\to\ellγ$ ($\ell=μ,e$) and $τ\to3\ell$ decays, but also by means of $\ell\toτ$ conversion in nuclei, which is promising in this respect. Although the model violates slightly custodial symmetry, acommodating the recent CDF $M_W$ measurement is in tension with electroweak precision data.
Little Higgs Models are a possible elegant solution to the hierarchy problem on the Higgs mass. As they predict naturally small deviations with respect to SM results, they are in agreement with all current experimental data. In this contribution, we review lepton flavor violation in the Simplest Little Higgs model focusing on semileptonic lepton flavor violating tau decays (where some new results are presented) and $H\to\ell\ell'$. Within this model, the most promising decay channels for discovering lepton flavor violation are $μ\to e$ conversion in nuclei, $μ\to eγ^{(*)}$, $τ\to (e/μ)γ$ and $…
Little Higgs Models are promising constructs to solve the hierarchy problem affecting the Higgs boson mass for generic new physics. However, their preservation of lepton universality forbids them to account for the $H\toτμ$ CMS hint and at the same time respect (as they do) the severe limits on $H\toμe$ inherited from the non-observation of $μ\to eγ$. We compute the predictions of the Simplest Little Higgs Model for the $H\to \ell\ell'$ decays and conclude that the measurement of any of these decays at LHC (even with a much smaller rate than currently hinted) would, under reasonable assumption…
We show how the symmetry breaking pattern of the simplest little Higgs model, and that of the smallest moose model that incorporates an approximate custodial SU(2), can be realized through the condensation of strongly coupled fermions. In each case a custodial SU(2) symmetry of the new strong dynamics limits the sizes of corrections to precision electroweak observables. In the case of the simplest little Higgs, there are no new light states beyond those present in the original model. However, our realization of the symmetry breaking pattern of the moose model predicts an additional scalar fiel…
The temperature dependence of the mass, leptonic decay constant, and width of heavy-light quark peseudoscalar and vector mesons is obtained in the framework of thermal Hilbert moment QCD sum rules. The leptonic decay constants of both pseudoscalar and vector mesons decrease with increasing $T$, and vanish at a critical temperature $T_c$, while the mesons develop a width which increases dramatically and diverges at $T_c$, where $T_c$ is the temperature for chiral-symmetry restoration. These results indicate the disappearance of hadrons from the spectral function, which then becomes a smooth fun…
We present a simple supersymmetric model where the dominant decay mode of the lightest Higgs boson is h->2eta->4c where eta is a light pseudoscalar and c is the charm quark. For such decays the Higgs mass can be smaller than 100 GeV without conflict with experiment. Together with the fact that both the Higgs and the pseudoscalar eta are pseudo-Goldstone bosons, this resolves the little hierarchy problem.
We first study the hadronic lepton flavor violating tau decays within the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (including one or two pseudoscalars, or a vector resonance). We consider the case where only T-odd particles and partner fermions contribute, and also its extension including Majorana neutrinos coming from an inverse seesaw. In both cases our mean values lie only one order of magnitude below current upper limits, strengthening the case of searching for these decays in the quest for new physics.
Little Higgs models are an interesting extension of the Standard Model at the TeV scale. They provide a simple and attractive mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. We review one of the simplest models of this class, the Littlest Higgs model, and its extension with T parity. The model with T parity satisfies precision electroweak constraints without fine-tuning, contains an attractive dark matter candidate, and leads to interesting phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
In this work, the production processes of heavy neutral scalar and pseudo scalar associated with standard model gauge boson $Z_L$ at future $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders (ILC and CLIC) are examined. The total and differential cross sections are calculated for the processes in the context of the littlest Higgs model. Also dependence of production processes to littlest Higgs model parameters in the range of compatibility with electroweak precision measurements and decays to lepton flavor violating final states are analyzed. We have found that both heavy scalar and pseudoscalar will be produced in $e^+e…
We construct an extension of the MSSM in which scalar superpartners can naturally be as heavy as 1 TeV. In the MSSM, the most significant fine tuning stems from the logarithmically enhanced top-stop loop contribution to the soft Higgs mass. We combine supersymmetry with the "simplest little Higgs" to render this loop finite, thereby removing the large logarithm even in models in which superpartner masses are generated at high scales such as in supergravity. Our model predicts an extended Higgs sector, superpartner masses near a TeV and little Higgs partners at a few TeV.
We propose a means to discriminate between the two basic variants of Little Higgs models, the Product Group and Simple Group models, at the next generation of colliders. It relies on a special coupling of light pseudoscalar particles present in Little Higgs models, the pseudoaxions, to the Z and the Higgs boson, which is present only in Simple Group models. We discuss the collider phenomenology of the pseudoaxion in the presence of such a coupling at the LHC, where resonant production and decay of either the Higgs or the pseudoaxion induced by that coupling can be observed for much of paramete…
In Little Higgs models, the Higgs mass is stabilized at the one-loop level by the mechanism of collective symmetry breaking. Typically, the basic ingredient of these models is a large(r) global symmetry group spontaneously broken at a scale of several TeV. The (light) Higgs appears as a Goldstone boson corresponding to a non-diagonal broken generator of this global symmetry. There could also be physical pseudoscalar particles present which belong to diagonal generators, having the properties of axions with masses in the range from several GeV up to the electroweak scale. We investigate the int…
The lightest scalar and pseudoscalar nonets are discussed within the [A framework of the broken old UxU3 linear sigma model, and it is shown that already at the tree level this model works remarkably well predicting scalar masses and couplings not far from present experimental values, when all parameters are fixed from the pseudoscalar masses and decay constants. The linear sigma model is the simplest way to implement chiral symmetry together with the broken SU3 of the quark model, and this, not well known, success in understanding experiment is comparable to that of the naive quark model for …
We propose a means to discriminate between the two basic variants of Little Higgs models, the Product Group and Simple Group models, at the next generation of colliders. It relies on a special coupling of light pseudoscalar particles present in Little Higgs models, the pseudo-axions, to the Z and the Higgs boson, which is present only in Simple Group models. We discuss the collider phenomenology of the pseudo-axion in the presence of such a coupling at the LHC, where resonant production and decay of either the Higgs or the pseudo-axion induced by that coupling can be observed for much of param…
We discuss a Little Higgs scenario that introduces below the TeV scale just the two minimal ingredients of these models, a vectorlike T quark and a singlet component (implying anomalous couplings) in the Higgs field, together with a pseudoscalar singlet η. In the model, which is a variation of Schmaltz's simplest Little Higgs model, all the extra vector bosons are much heavier than the T quark. In the Yukawa sector the global symmetry is approximate, implying a single large coupling per flavour, whereas in the scalar sector it is only broken at the loop level. We obtain the one-loop effective …
Preliminary calculations using the Covariant Spectator Theory (CST) employed a scalar linear confining interaction and an additional constant vector potential to compute the mesonic mass spectra. In this work we generalize the confining interaction to include more general structures, in particular a vector and also a pseudoscalar part, as suggested by a recent study. A one-gluon-exchange kernel is also implemented to describe the short-range part of the interaction. We solve the simplest CST approximation to the complete Bethe-Salpeter equation, the one-channel spectator equation, using a nume…
We demonstrate that the NMSSM can have small fine tuning and modest light stop mass while still evading all experimental constraints. For small tan(beta) [large tan(beta)], the relevant scenarios are such that there is always (often) a SM-like Higgs boson that decays to two lighter -- possibly much lighter -- pseudoscalar Higgses.
Little Higgs theory naturally predicts a light Higgs boson whose most important discovery channel at the LHC is the di-photon signal $pp\to h\to γγ$. In this work we perform a comparative study for this signal in some typical little Higgs models, namely the littlest Higgs model (LH), two littlest Higgs models with T-parity (named LHT-I and LHT-II) and the simplest little Higgs modes (SLH). We find that compared with the Standard Model prediction, the di-photon signal rate is always suppressed and the suppression extent can be quite different for different models. The suppression is mild ($\lsi…
We re-analyze the $ZHη$-vertex with the form $Z_μ(η\partial^μH-H\partial^μη)$, where $H$ is the 125 GeV Higgs boson and $η$ is an exotic pseudo-axion, based on the effective field theory (EFT) analysis and choose the simplest little Higgs (SLH) model as an example. For a pure gauge singlet pseudoscalar $η$, after carefully removing all off-diagonal two-point transitions, we show that its coefficient $c_{ZHη}$ cannot appear before $\mathcal{O}(ξ^3)$ level, where $ξ$ is the ratio between the electro-weak scale $v$ and a high scale $f$. The same behavior arises in the simplest little Higgs (SLH) …
This work is an extension of our previous work in \cite{bhatnagar20} to calculate M1 transitions, $0^{-+}\rightarrow 1^{--} γ$, and E1 transitions involving axial vector mesons such as, $1^{+-} \rightarrow 0^{-+}γ$, and $0^{-+}\rightarrow 1^{+-} γ$ for which very little data is available as of now. We make use of the general structure of the transition amplitude, $M_{fi}$ derived in our previous work \cite{bhatnagar20} as a linear superposition of terms involving all possible combinations of $++$, and $--$ components of Salpeter wave functions of final and initial hadrons. In the present work,…
Recently proposed Little Higgs models present a viable solution to the naturalness problem of the Standard Model. An additional discrete symmetry, called T-parity, has been included in the simplest Little Higgs models to evade the constraints arising from electroweak precision data. The Littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT) not only predicts a set of new fermions in addition to the heavy gauge bosons of the original Little Higgs model, but also provides a new candidate for dark matter. In this paper, we study two particularly interesting signatures of T-odd fermion pair production at the LH…
We report on our study of the LFV processes μ\to eγ, μ\to eee and μ\to e conversion in the context of Little Higgs models. Specifically we examine the Littlest Higgs with T-parity (LHT) and the Simplest Little Higgs (SLH) as examples of a Product group and Simple group Little Higgs models respectively. The necessary Feynman rules for both models are obtained in the 't Hooft Feynman Gauge up to order v^2/f^2 and predictions for the branching ratios and conversion rates of the LFV processes are calculated to leading order (one-loop level). Comparison with current experimental constraints show th…
A mechanism is discussed to obtain light scalar fields from a spontaneously broken continuous symmetry without explicitly breaking it. If there is a continuous manifold of classical vacua in orbit space, its tangent directions describe classically massless fields that may acquire mass from perturbations of the potential that do not break the symmetry. We consider the simplest possible example, involving a scalar field in the adjoint representation of SU(N). We study the scalar mass spectrum and its RG running at one-loop level including scalar and pseudoscalar Yukawa couplings to a massive Dir…
We reconsider little-Higgs corrections to precision data. In five models with global symmetries SU(5), SU(6), SO(9) corrections are (although not explicitly) of `universal' type. We get simple expressions for the Shat, That, W, Y parameters, which summarize all effects. In all models Shat > (W+Y)/2 and That, W, Y\ge 0. Results differ from previous analyses, which are sometimes incomplete, sometimes incorrect, and because we add LEP2 e ebar --> f fbar cross sections to the data set. Depending on the model the constraint on f ranges between 2 and 20 TeV. We next study the `simplest' little-Higgs…
We point out a basic difficulty in the construction of little-Higgs models with T-parity which is overlooked by large part of the present literature. Almost all models proposed so far fail to achieve their goal: they either suffer from sizable electroweak corrections or from a breakdown of collective breaking. We provide a model building recipe to bypass the above problem and apply it to build the simplest T-invariant extension of the Littlest Higgs. Our model predicts additional T-odd pseudo-Goldstone bosons with weak scale masses.
The study of the phenomenology of an extra neutral gauge boson, Z_H, can can help us to unravel the underlying theory. We study the decay of such a particle into two neutral gauge bosons, Z_H -> V_i Z (V_i=γ, Z), in two popular versions of the little Higgs model: the littlest Higgs model (LHM) and the simplest little Higgs model (SLHM). These decays are induced at the one-loop level by a fermion triangle and are interesting as they are strongly dependent on the mechanism of anomaly cancellation of the model. All the relevant tree-level two- and three-body decays of the Z_H gauge boson are also…
In the simplest scheme for neutrino masses invoking a triplet of Higgs scalars there are two CP-even neutral Higgs bosons $H_i$ (i=1,2) and one massive pseudoscalar $A$. For some choices of parameters, the lightest $H_1$ may be lighter than the Standard Model Higgs boson. If the smallness of neutrino mass is due to the small value of the triplet expectation value, as expected in a seesaw scheme, the Higgs bosons may decay dominantly to the invisible neutrino channel. We derive limits on Higgs masses and couplings that follow from LEP I precision measurements of the invisible Z width.
Beyond the Standard Model (SM) extensions usually include extended Higgs sectors. Models with singlet or doublet fields are the simplest ones that are compatible with the $ρ$ parameter constraint. The discovery of new non-SM Higgs bosons and the identification of the underlying model requires dedicated Higgs properties analyses. In this paper, we compare several Higgs sectors featuring 3 CP-even neutral Higgs bosons that are also motivated by their simplicity and their capability to solve some of the flaws of the SM. They are: the SM extended by a complex singlet field (CxSM), the singlet exte…
Two paradigms for the origin of electroweak superconductivity are a weakly coupled scalar condensate, and a strongly coupled fermion condensate. The former suffers from a finetuning problem unless there are cancelations to radiative corrections, while the latter presents potential discrepancies with precision electroweak physics. Here we present a framework for electroweak symmetry breaking which interpolates between these two paradigms, and mitigates their faults. As in Little Higgs theories, the Higgs is a pseudo-Nambu Goldstone boson, potentially composite. The cutoff sensitivity of the one…
In models where the Higgs is realized as a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) of some global symmetry breaking, there are often remaining pNGBs of some $U(1)$ groups (called `pseudo-axions'), which could lead to smoking gun signatures of such scenarios and provide important clues on the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism. As a concrete example, we investigate the phenomenology of the pseudo-axion in the anomaly-free Simplest Little Higgs (SLH) model. After clarifying a subtle issue related to the effect of symmetric vector-scalar-scalar (VSS) vertices (e.g. $Z_μ(H\partial^μη+η\partial^μH…
