We propose a photon-arrival detector (PAD), which detects the arrival of a signal photon and simultaneously projects the signal input state to a single photon state, with an atom-cavity system. In this proposal, use of a V-type system as the intracavity atom is discussed for implementing the PAD, since V-type systems have been widely studied in the field of solid state, enabling us to miniaturize and integrate that implementation. The performance of the proposed PAD is evaluated for a specific method of the detection process. The proposed PAD is capable of repeating the procedure for detecting the arrival of input photons and it has improves the detection probability so that it has a higher quantum efficiency than those of conventional photodetectors.

The spins of atoms and atom-like systems are among the most coherent objects in which to store quantum information. However, the need to address them using oscillating magnetic fields hinders their integration with quantum electronic devices. Here we circumvent this hurdle by operating a single-atom `flip-flop' qubit in silicon, where quantum information is encoded in the electron-nuclear states of a phosphorus donor. The qubit is controlled using local electric fields at microwave frequencies, produced within a metal-oxide-semiconductor device. The electrical drive is mediated by the modulati…
In digital circuits, a Flip-Flop (FF) is a circuit element that has two stable states which can be used to store and remember state information. The state of the circuit can be changed by applying signals to the control input. FFs are the basic building blocks of sequential logic circuits, as logic gates AND,OR, NOT are the basic building block for combinational logic circuits, and are therefore necessary for any computations involving memory. Consequently, the design and implementation of FFs can be considered as a pre-requisite for memory machine design. Here we present the design of an opti…
We theoretically explore the tunneling dynamics for the tight-binding (TB) model of a single spin-orbit-coupled atom trapped in an optical lattice subjected to lattice shaking and to time-periodic Zeeman field. By means of analytical and numerical methods, we demonstrate that the spin-orbit (SO) coupling adds some new results to the tunneling dynamics in both multiphoton resonance and far-off-resonance parameter regimes. When the driving frequency is resonant with the static Zeeman field (multi-photon resonances), we obtain an unexpected new dynamical localization (DL) phenomenon where the sin…
We describe a simple protocol for the single-step generation of $N$-body entangling interactions between trapped atomic ion qubits. We show that qubit state-dependent squeezing operations and displacement forces on the collective atomic motion can generate full $N$-body interactions. Similar to the Mølmer-Sørensen two-body Ising interaction at the core of most trapped ion quantum computers and simulators, the proposed operation is relatively insensitive to the state of motion. We show how this $N$-body gate operation allows the single-step implementation of a family of $N$-bit gate operations …
In this study, we have studied the quantum tunneling of a single spin-orbit-coupled atom held in a periodically modulated optical lattice with an impurity. At the pseudocollapse points of quasienergy bands, where the dynamical localization takes place globally, two types of local second-order tunneling processes appear beyond expectation between the two nearest-neighbor sites of the impurity with the spin unchanged and with impurity site population negligible all the time, when the impurity potential is far off-resonant with the driving field. Though tunneling behaviors of the two types seem t…
