We prove a structure theorem for Lie n-algebras possessing an invariant inner product. We define the notion of a double extension of a metric Lie n-algebra by another Lie n-algebra and prove that all metric Lie n-algebras are obtained from the simple and one-dimensional ones by iterating the operations of orthogonal direct sum and double extension.
Three kinds of universal central extension are considered for a perfect Lie algebra. More precisely, one can consider such a Lie algebra as a Lie triple system, or a Leibniz algebra and construct appropriate central extensions. We show that Lie triple system universal central extension is isomorphic either to Lie or Leibniz algebra universal central extension considered as a Lie triple system in appropriate way.
Lie conformal algebras $\mathcal{W}(a,b)$ are the semi-direct sums of Virasoro Lie conformal algebra and its nontrivial conformal modules of rank one. In this paper, we give a complete classification of extensions of finite irreducible conformal modules of $\mathcal{W}(a,b)$. With a similar method, we characterize all extensions of finite irreducible conformal modules of Schrödinger-Virasoro type Lie conformal algebras $TSV(a,b)$ and $TSV(c)$.
The goal of this paper is to explicitly describe in terms of generators and relations the universal central extension of the infinite dimensional Lie algebra, $\mathfrak{g} \otimes \mathbb{C}[t,t^{-1},u]$ with finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and $u^m=p(t)$.
It is known that Hochschild cohomology groups are represented by crossed extensions of associative algebras. In this paper, we introduce crossed $n$-fold extensions of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ by a module $M$, for $n \geq 2$. The equivalence classes of such extensions are represented by the $(n+1)$-th Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology group $H^{n+1}_{CE} (\mathfrak{g}, M).$
We obtain a recurrent and monotone method for constructing and classifying nilpotent Lie algebras by means of successive central extensions. It consists in calculating the second cohomology of an extendable nilpotent Lie algebra with the subsequent study of the orbit space geometry of the automorphism group action on Grassmannians defined in terms of the second cohomology of the extendable nilpotent Lie algebra. Such a geometric method allows to classify some classes of nilpotent Lie algebras. The concept of a rigid central extension is introduced.
We introduce a notion of $n$-Lie Rinehart algebras as a generalization of Lie Rinehart algebras to $n$-ary case. This notion is also an algebraic analogue of $n$-Lie algebroids. We develop representation theory and describe a cohomology complex of $n$-Lie Rinehart algebras. Furthermore, we investigate extension theory of $n$-Lie Rinehart algebras by means of $2$-cocycles. Finally, we introduce crossed modules of $n$-Lie Rinehart algebras to gain a better understanding of their third dimensional cohomology groups.
In this paper we study universal central extensions and non-abelian tensor product of hom-Lie-Rinehart algebras. We discuss about universal $α$- central extensions, and, lifting of automorphisms and $α$-derivations to central extensions for hom-Lie-Rinehart algebras. This is in turn provide such lifting of automorphisms and $α^k$-derivations to the central extensions for hom-Lie algebras.
A Lie superalgebra is called quasi-Frobenius if it admits a closed anti-symmetric non-degenerate bilinear form. We study the notion of double extensions of quasi-Frobenius Lie superalgebra when the form is either orthosymplectic or periplectic. We show that every quasi-Frobenius Lie superalgebra that satisfies certain conditions can be obtained as a double extension of a smaller quasi-Frobenius Lie superalgebra. We classify all 4-dimensional quasi-Frobenius Lie superalgebras, and show that such Lie superalgebras must be solvable. We study the notion of $T^*$-extensions (or Lagrangian extension…
The present paper contains a systematic study of the structure of metric Lie algebras, i.e., finite-dimensional real Lie algebras equipped with a non-degenerate invariant symmetric bilinear form. We show that any metric Lie algebra without simple ideals has the structure of a so called balanced quadratic extension of an auxiliary Lie algebra l by an orthogonal l-module A in a canonical way. Identifying equivalence classes of quadratic extensions of l by A with a certain cohomology set H^2_Q(l,A) we obtain a classification scheme for general metric Lie algebras and a complete classification of …
In this paper, we give a purely cohomological interpretation of the extension problem for (super) Lie algebras; that is the problem of extending a Lie algebra by another Lie algebra. We then give a similar interpretation of infinitesimal deformations of extensions. In particular, we consider infinitesimal deformations of representations of a Lie algebra.
A Vogan superdiagram is a set of involution and painting on a Dynkin diagram. It selects a real form, or equivalently an involution, from a complex simple Lie superalgebra. We introduce the double Vogan superdiagram, which is two sets of Vogan superdiagrams superimposed on an affine Dynkin diagram. They correspond to pairs of commuting involutions on complex simple Lie superalgebras, and therefore provide an independent classification of the simple locally symmetric or symmetric superpairs.
A Lie (super)algebra with a non-degenerate invariant symmetric bilinear form will be called a NIS-Lie (super)algebra. The double extension of a NIS-Lie (super)algebra is the result of simultaneously adding to it a central element and an outer derivation so that the larger algebra has also a NIS. Affine loop algebras, Lie (super)algebras with symmetrizable Cartan matrix over any field, Manin triples, symplectic reflection (super)algebras are among the Lie (super)algebras suitable to be doubly extended. We consider double extensions of Lie superalgebras in characteristic 2, and concentrate on pe…
Imaginary Verma modules, parabolic imaginary Verma modules, and Verma modules at level zero for double affine Lie algebras are constructed using three different triangular decompositions. Their relations are investigated, and several results are generalized from the affine Lie algebras. In particular, imaginary highest weight modules, integrable modules, and irreducibility criterion are also studied.
F-Lie algebras are natural generalisations of Lie algebras (F=1) and Lie superalgebras (F=2). We give finite dimensional examples of F-Lie algebras obtained by an inductive process from Lie algebras and Lie superalgebras. Matrix realizations of the $F-$Lie algebras constructed in this way from osp(2|m) are given. We obtain a non-trivial extension of the Poincaré algebra by an Inönü-Wigner contraction of a certain $F-$Lie algebras with $F>2$.
In this paper, we introduce the notion of generalized representation of a $3$-Lie algebra, by which we obtain a generalized semidirect product $3$-Lie algebra. Moreover, we develop the corresponding cohomology theory. Various examples of generalized representations of 3-Lie algebras and computation of 2-cocycles of the new cohomology are provided. Also, we show that a split abelian extension of a 3-Lie algebra is isomorphic to a generalized semidirect product $3$-Lie algebra. Furthermore, we describe general abelian extensions of 3-Lie algebras using Maurer-Cartan elements.
In this paper, we study non-abelian extensions of 3-Lie algebras through Maurer-Cartan elements. We show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between isomorphism classes of non-abelian extensions of 3-Lie algebras and equivalence classes of Maurer-Cartan elements in a DGLA. The structure of the Leibniz algebra on the space of fundamental objects is also analyzed.
We determine a substantial part of the unitary representation theory of the Drinfeld double of a $q$-deformation of a compact Lie group in terms of the complexification of the compact Lie group. Using this, we show that the dual of every $q$-deformation of a higher rank compact Lie group has central property ${\rm (T)}$. We also determine the unitary dual of $SL_q(n,\mathbb{C})$.
In this paper, we describe restricted one-dimensional central extensions of all finite dimensional simple restricted Lie algebras defined over fields of characteristic $p\ge 5$.
We study representations of the double affine Lie algebra associated to a simple Lie algebra. We construct a family of indecomposable integrable representations and identify their irreducible quotients. We also give a condition for the indecomposable modules to be irreducible, this is analogous to a result in the representation theory of quantum affine algebras. Finally, in the last section of the paper, we show, by using the notion of fusion product, that our modules are generically reducible.
In this paper, we study non-abelian extensions of strict Lie 2-algebras via the cohomology theory. A non-abelian extension of a strict Lie 2-algebra $\g$ by $\frkh$ gives rise to a strict homomorphism from $\g$ to $\SOut(\frkh)$. Conversely, we prove that the obstruction of existence of non-abelian extensions of strict Lie 2-algebras associated to a strict Lie 2-algebra homomorphism from $\g$ to $\SOut(\frkh)$ is given by an element in the third cohomology group. We further prove that the isomorphism classes of non-abelian extensions of strict Lie 2-algebras are classified by the second cohomo…
An $n$-Lie superalgebra of parity 0 is called a first-class $n$-Lie superalgebra. In this paper, we give the representation and cohomology for a first-class $n$-Lie superalgebra and obtain a relation between extensions of a first-class $n$-Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{b}$ by an abelian one $\mathfrak{a}$ and $Z^1(\mathfrak{b}, \mathfrak{a})_{\bar{0}}$. We also introduce the notion of $T^*$-extensions of first-class $n$-Lie superalgebras and prove that every finite-dimensional nilpotent metric first-class $n$-Lie superalgebra $(\g,< ,>_{\g})$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic …
We study the extension of a Lie algebroid by a representation up to homotopy, including semidirect products of a Lie algebroid with such representations. The extension results in a higher Lie algebroid. We give exact Courant algebroids and string Lie 2-algebras as examples of such extensions. We then apply this to obtain a Lie 2-groupoid integration of an exact Courant algebroid.
A double extension ($\mathscr{D}$ extension) of a Lie (super)algebra $\mathfrak a$ with a non-degenerate invariant symmetric bilinear form $\mathscr{B}$, briefly: a NIS-(super)algebra, is an enlargement of $\mathfrak a$ by means of a central extension and a derivation; the affine Kac-Moody algebras are the best known examples of double extensions of loops algebras. Let $\mathfrak a$ be a restricted Lie (super)algebra with a NIS $\mathscr{B}$. Suppose $\mathfrak a$ has a restricted derivation $\mathscr{D}$ such that $\mathscr{B}$ is $\mathscr{D}$-invariant. We show that the double extension of …
We calculate the first extension groups for finite-dimensional simple modules over an arbitrary generalized current Lie algebra, which includes the case of loop Lie algebras and their multivariable analogs.
We introduce and begin to study Lie theoretical analogs of symplectic reflection algebras for a finite cyclic group, which we call "cyclic double affine Lie algebra". We focus on type A : in the finite (resp. affine, double affine) case, we prove that these structures are finite (resp. affine, toroidal) type Lie algebras, but the gradings differ. The case which is essentially new involves $\mathbb{C}[u,v]$. We describe its universal central extensions and start the study of its representation theory, in particular of its highest weight integrable modules and Weyl modules. We also consider the …
We generalize the linear algebra setting of Tate's central extension to arbitrary dimension. In general, one obtains a Lie (n+1)-cocycle. We compute it explicitly. The construction is based on a Lie algebra variant of Beilinson's adelic multidimensional residue symbol, generalizing Tate's approach to the local residue symbol for 1-forms on curves.
Levi's theorem decomposes any arbitrary Lie algebra over a field of characteristic zero, as a direct sum of a semisimple Lie algebra (named Levi factor) and its solvable radical. Given a solvable Lie algebra $R$, a semisimple Lie algebra $S$ is said to be a Levi extension of $R$ in case a Lie structure can be defined on the vector space $S\oplus R$. The assertion is equivalent to $ρ(S)\subseteq \mathrm{Der}(R)$, where $\mathrm{Der}(R)$ is the derivation algebra of $R$, for some representation $ρ$ of $S$ onto $R$. Our goal in this paper, is to present some general structure results on nilpotent…
In this paper, we study the set of $Δ$-filtered modules of quasi-hereditary algebras arising from quotients of the double of quivers of type $A$. Our main result is that for any fixed $Δ$-dimension vector, there is a unique (up to isomorphism) exceptional $Δ$-filtered module. We then apply this result to show that there is always an open adjoint orbit in the nilpotent radical of a seaweed Lie algebra in $\mathrm{gl}_{n}(\field)$, thus answering positively in this $\mathrm{gl}_{n}(\field)$ case to a question raised independently by Michel Duflo and Dmitri Panyushev. An example of a seaweed Lie …
Motivated by positive energy representations, we classify those continuous central extensions of the compactly supported gauge Lie algebra that are covariant under a 1-parameter group of transformations of the base manifold.
We study (non-abelian) extensions of a given super Lie algebra, identify a cohomological obstruction to the existence, parallel to the known one for Lie algebras. An analogy to the setting of covariant exterior derivatives, curvature, and the Bianchi identity in differential geometry is spelled out.
In this note we show that the theory of non abelian extensions of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ by a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{h}$ can be understood in terms of a differential graded Lie algebra $L$. More precisely we show that the non-abelian cohomology $H^2_{nab}(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h})$ is $\mathcal{MC}(L)$, the $π_0$ of the Deligne groupoid of $L$.
