We argue that the consistent implementation of the multiple point principle (MPP) in the general non-supersymmetric two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) can lead to a set of approximate global custodial symmetries that ensure CP conservation in the Higgs sector and the absence of flavour changing neutral currents (FCNC) in the considered model. In particular the existence of a large set of degenerate vacua at some high energy scale $Λ$ caused by the MPP can result in approximate U(1) and Z(2) symmetries that suppress FCNC and CP--violating interactions in the 2HDM. We explore the renormalisation group (RG) flow of the Yukawa and Higgs couplings within the MPP inspired 2HDM with approximate custodial symmetries and show that the solutions of the RG equations are focused near quasi--fixed points at low energies if the MPP scale scale $Λ$ is relatively high. We study the Higgs spectrum and couplings near the quasi--fixed point at moderate values of $\tanβ$ and compute a theoretical upper bound on the lightest Higgs boson mass. If $Λ\gtrsim 10^{10} {GeV}$ the lightest CP--even Higgs boson is always lighter than $125 {GeV}$. When the MPP scale is low, the mass of the lightest Higgs particle can reach $180-220 {GeV}$ while its coupling to the top quark can be significantly larger than in the SM, resulting in the enhanced production of Higgs bosons at the LHC.
We present a simple and transparent method to study custodial symmetry in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model. The method allows to formulate the basis independent, sufficient and necessary, conditions for the custodial symmetry of the scalar potential. The relation between the custodial transformation and CP is discussed and clarified.
In the Standard Model for electroweak interactions, the Higgs sector is known to display a "custodial" symmetry protecting the mass relation m_{W^\pm}^2=m_{W_3}^2 from large corrections. When considering extensions of the scalar sector, this symmetry has to be introduced by hand in order to pass current electroweak precision tests in a natural way. In this Letter we implement a generalized custodial symmetry in the two-Higgs-doublet model. Assuming the invariance of the potential under CP transformations, we prove the existence of a new custodial scenario characterized by m_{H^\pm}^2=m_{H^0}^2…
We study the implementation of global $SO(4)\sim SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R$ symmetry in general potentials with N-Higgs-doublets in order to obtain models with custodial $SO(3)_C$ symmetry. We conclude that any implementation of the custodial SO(4) symmetry is equivalent, by a basis transformation, to a canonical one if $SU(2)_L$ is the gauge factor, $U(1)_Y$ is embedded in $SU(2)_R$ and we require $N$ copies of the doublet representation of $SU(2)_R$. The invariance by SO(4) automatically leads to a CP invariant potential and the basis of the canonical implementation of SO(4) is aligned to a bas…
In the Standard Model, custodial symmetry is violated by the hypercharge U(1) gauge interactions and the Yukawa couplings, while being preserved by the Higgs scalar potential. In the two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM), the generic scalar potential introduces new sources of custodial symmetry breaking. We obtain a basis-independent expression for the constraints that impose custodial symmetry on the 2HDM scalar potential. These constraints impose CP-conservation on the scalar potential and vacuum, and in addition add one extra constraint on the scalar potential parameters. We clarify the mass degen…
We study consequences of custodial symmetry in the Higgs sector of the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model. We discuss how the 5-plet and 3-plet Higgs bosons classified under the custodial SU(2) symmetry are produced and decay at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. By determining their masses through proposed channels, we can test the mass degeneracy in each Higgs multiplet.
We prove that a generic multi-Higgs-doublet model (NHDM) generally must contain terms in the potential that violate the custodial symmetry. This is done by showing that the O(4) violating terms of the NHDM potential cannot be excluded by imposing a symmetry on the NHDM Lagrangian. Hence we expect higher-order corrections to necessarily introduce such terms. We also note, in the case of custodially symmetric Higgs-quark couplings, that vacuum alignment will lead to up-down mass degeneration; this is not true if the vacua are not aligned.
We calculate 1-loop radiative corrections to the $hZZ$ and $hWW$ couplings in models with next--to--simplest Higgs sectors satisfying the electroweak $ρ$ parameter equal to 1 at tree level: the Higgs singlet model, the two-Higgs doublet models, and the Georgi-Machacek model. Under theoretical and current experimental constraints, the three models have different correlations between the deviations in the $hZZ$ and $hWW$ couplings from the standard model predictions. In particular, we find for each model predictions with no overlap with the other two models.
We introduce a toy model implementing the proposal of using a custodial symmetry to protect the Zbb coupling from large corrections. This "doublet-extended standard model" adds a weak doublet of fermions (including a heavy partner of the top quark) to the particle content of the standard model in order to implement an O(4) x U(1)_X = SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x P_{LR} x U(1)_X symmetry that protects the Zbb coupling. This symmetry is softly broken to the gauged SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y electroweak symmetry by a Dirac mass M for the new doublet; adjusting the value of M allows us to explore the range of possib…
In this note, a ``littlest higgs'' model is presented which has an approximate custodial SU(2) symmetry. The model is based on the coset space $SO(9)/(SO(5)\times SO(4))$. The light pseudo-goldstone bosons of the theory include a {\it single} higgs doublet below a TeV and a set of three $SU(2)_W$ triplets and an electroweak singlet in the TeV range. All of these scalars obtain approximately custodial SU(2) preserving vacuum expectation values. This model addresses a defect in the earlier $SO(5)\times SU(2)\times U(1)$ moose model, with the only extra complication being an extended top sector. …
We study how the custodial symmetry in the Higgs sector of the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model can be tested at the LHC. As the minimal extension of the Higgs triplet model, in which tiny neutrino masses are generated via the Type-II Seesaw Mechanism, the GM model keeps the electroweak $ρ$ parameter at unity at tree level. In the GM model, there are 5-plet ($H_5$), 3-plet ($H_3$) and singlet ($H_1$) Higgs bosons under the classification of the custodial $SU(2)_V$ symmetry, in addition to the standard model-like Higgs boson ($h$). These new Higgs bosons have the following characteristic features at …
We introduce a toy model implementing the proposal of using a custodial symmetry to protect the Z b_L bbar_L coupling from large corrections. This "doublet-extended standard model" adds a weak doublet of fermions (including a heavy partner of the top quark) to the particle content of the standard model in order to implement an O(4) x U(1)_X = SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x P_LR x U(1)_X symmetry in the top-quark mass generating sector. This symmetry is softly broken to the gauged SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y electroweak symmetry by a Dirac mass M for the new doublet; adjusting the value of M allows us to explore the…
In this note we present a little Higgs model that has custodial SU(2) as an approximate symmetry. This theory is a simple modification of the ``Minimal Moose'' with SO(5) global symmetries protecting the Higgs mass. This allows for a simple limit where TeV physics makes small contributions to precision electroweak observables. The spectrum of particles and their couplings to Standard Model fields are studied in detail. At low energies this model has two Higgs doublets and it favours a light Higgs from precision electroweak bounds, though for different reasons than in the Standard Model. The li…
We derive basis-independent, necessary and sufficient conditions for the custodial symmetry in N-Higgs-doublet models (NHDM) for N > 2, and apply them on some 3HDM examples.
The Georgi-Machacek (GM) model is one of many Beyond Standard Model scenarios with an extended scalar sector which can group under the custodial $\rm SU(2)_C$ symmetry into a fiveplet, a triplet, and two singlets. The heavy charged custodial fiveplet Higgs $\rm H_5^{\pm}$ are typical particles in GM model which couple to the electroweak gauge bosons, therefore provide a good testing ground for the detection of the $\rm H^\pm W^\mp Z$ vertex. The neutral custodial fiveplet Higgs $\rm H_5^{0}$ in the GM model has the same mass with $\rm H_5^{\pm}$ and couples to the electroweak gauge bosons $\rm…
The composite Higgs models based on the top seesaw mechanism commonly possess an enhanced approximate chiral symmetry, which is spontaneously broken to produce the Higgs field as the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons. The minimal model with only one extra vector-like singlet quark that mixes with the top quark can naturally give rise to a 126 GeV Higgs boson. However, without having a custodial symmetry it suffers from the weak-isospin violation constraint, which pushes the chiral symmetry breaking scale above a few TeV, causing a substantial fine-tuning for the weak scale. We consider an extensio…
Many researches from both the theoretical and experimental sides have been performed to search for a new Higgs Boson lighter than the 125 $GeV$ Higgs boson which was discovered at the LHC in 2012. In this paper we explore the possibility of constraining a lighter neutral custodial fiveplet scalar $H_{5}^{0}$ in the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model by the latest results of the search for a lighter Higgs boson decaying into two photons from LHC data. The custodial-singlet mass eigenstate $h$ or $H$ is considered to be the LHC observed 125 $GeV$ Higgs boson. A new set of constrained parameters that is …
We show that a subgroup of the custodial symmetry O(3) that protects delta rho from radiative corrections can also protect the Zbb coupling. This allows one to build models of electroweak symmetry breaking, such as Higgsless, Little Higgs or 5D composite Higgs models, that are safe from corrections to Z-> bb. We show that when this symmetry protects Zbb it cannot simultaneously protect Ztt and Wtb. Therefore one can expect to measure sizable deviations from the SM predictions of these couplings at future collider experiments. We also show under what circumstances Zb_R b_R can receive correctio…
Tree-level accidental symmetries are known to play a fundamental role in the phenomenology of the Standard Model (SM) for electroweak interactions. So far, no significant deviations from the theory have been observed in precision, flavour and collider physics. Consequently, these global symmetries are expected to remain quite efficient in any attempt beyond the SM. Yet, they do not forbid rather unorthodox phenomena within the reach of current LHC experiments. This is illustrated with a vectophobic Two-Higgs-Doublet-Model (2HDM) where effects of a light, flavour-violating and custodian (pseudo…
We study bounds on Higgs boson masses from perturbative unitarity in the Georgi-Machacek model, whose Higgs sector is composed of a scalar isospin doublet, a real and a complex isospin triplet fields. This model can be compatible with the electroweak precision data without fine tuning because of the imposed global SU(2)_R symmetry in the Higgs potential, by which the electroweak rho parameter is unity at the tree level. All possible two-body elastic-scattering channels are taken into account to evaluate the S-wave amplitude matrix, and then the condition of perturbative unitarity is imposed on…
The model proposed by Georgi and Machacek enables the Higgs sector to involve isospin triplet scalar fields while retaining a custodial $SU(2)_V$ symmetry in the potential and thus ensuring the electroweak $ρ$ parameter to be one at tree level. This custodial symmetry, however, is explicitly broken by loop effects of the $U(1)_Y$ hypercharge gauge interaction. In order to make the model consistent at high energies, we construct the most general form of the Higgs potential without the custodial symmetry, and then we derive the one-loop $β$-functions for all the model parameters. Assuming the $δ…
Composite Higgs models based on SU(5)/SO(5) are characterised by the presence of custodial triplets, like the Georgi-Machacek model. We classify all the operators giving rise to the top mass and Higgs potential in presence of fermion partial compositeness, with top partners in two-index representations of SU(5). A detailed study of each operator allows us to find correlations in the couplings of Higgs and non-Higgs pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons, which depend only on one, two or three independent parameters. We also analyse the Higgs potential, finding that a misalignment along the custodial in…
We investigate the gauge-Higgs unification models compactified on T^2/Z_N that have the custodial symmetry. We select possible gauge groups, orbifolds and representations of the matter fermions that are consistent with the custodial symmetry, by means of the group theoretical analysis. The best candidate we found is 6D SU(3)_C x U(4) gauge theory on T^2/Z_3 and the third generation quarks are embedded into bulk fermions that are the symmetric traceless rank-2 tensor of SO(6).
In a $SU(6)$ gauge theory we found the irreducible representation (175-plet) which does not contain the Higgs doublet. Using this representation we construct two SUSY $SU(6)$ models in which the doublet-triplet splitting occurs naturally, without fine tuning. The crucial role is played by the ``custodial" global $SU(2)_H$ in combination with discrete or continuous $R$ symmetries.
Electroweak precision measurements established that custodial symmetry is preserved to a good accuracy in the gauge sector after electroweak symmetry breaking. However, recent LHC results might be interpreted as pointing towards Higgs couplings that do not respect such symmetry. Motivated by this possibility, we reconsider the presence of an explicitly custodial breaking coupling in a generic Higgs parameterization. After briefly commenting on the large UV sensitivity of the T parameter to such a coupling, we perform a fit to results of Higgs searches at LHC and Tevatron, and find that the app…
We show that the recently reported excess in resonant diboson production can be explained in the context of non-custodial composite Higgs models. Dibosons are generated via the s-channel exchange of massive vector bosons present in these models. We discuss the compatibility of the signal excess with other diboson experimental searches. We also discuss the tension between diboson production and other experimental tests of the model that include electroweak precision data, dilepton, dijet and top pair production and show that there is a region of parameter space in which they are all compatible …
It has been recently argued that realistic models with warped extra dimensions can have Kaluza-Klein particles accessible at the Large Hadron Collider if a custodial symmetry, SU(2)_V \times P_{LR}, is used to protect the T parameter and the coupling of the left-handed bottom quark to the Z gauge boson. In this article we emphasize that such a symmetry implies that the loop corrections to both the T parameter and the Z b_L \bar{b}_L coupling are calculable. In general, these corrections are correlated, can be sizable, and should be considered to determine the allowed parameter space region in …
We study the effects of custodial symmetry violation in the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model. The GM model adds isospin-triplet scalars to the Standard Model in a way that preserves custodial symmetry at tree level; however, this custodial symmetry has long been known to be violated at the one-loop level by hypercharge interactions. We consider the custodial-symmetric GM model to arise at some high scale as a result of an unspecified ultraviolet completion, and quantify the custodial symmetry violation induced as the model is run down to the weak scale. The measured value of the eletroweak rho param…
Higgs triplet models are known to have difficulties obtaining agreement with electroweak precision data and in particular constraints on the $ρ$ parameter. Either a global $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$ symmetry has to be imposed on the scalar potential at the electroweak scale, as done in the well-known Georgi-Machacek (GM) model, or the triplet vacuum expectation values must be very small. We construct a supersymmetric model that can satisfy constraints on the $ρ$ parameter, even if these two conditions are not fulfilled. We supersymmetrize the GM model by imposing the $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$ s…
The Supersymmetric Custodial Triplet Model (SCTM) adds to the particle content of the MSSM three $SU(2)_L$ triplet chiral superfields with hypercharge $Y=(0,\pm1)$. At the superpotential level the model respects a global $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$ symmetry only broken by the Yukawa interactions. The pattern of vacuum expectation values of the neutral doublet and triplet scalar fields depends on the symmetry pattern of the Higgs soft breaking masses. We study the cases where this symmetry is maintained in the Higgs sector, and when it is broken only by the two doublets attaining different vacuum…
We discuss the relation between the CP symmetry and the custodial $SU(2)$ symmetry in the Higgs sector. In particular, we show that CP violation in the Higgs-gauge sector is allowed only if the custodial $SU(2)$ symmetry is broken. We exploit these facts to constrain CP violation using the experimental bounds on $ρ-1$. CP nonconservation in the Higgs-fermion interactions can also be constrained in a similar way although a possible exception is pointed out.
We reexamine the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model with enlarged gauge symmetry SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_X x P_LR in the presence of a brane-localized Higgs sector. In contrast to the existing literature, we perform the Kaluza-Klein (KK) decomposition within the mass basis, which avoids the truncation of the KK towers. Expanding the low-energy spectrum as well as the gauge couplings in powers of the Higgs vacuum expectation value, we obtain analytic formulas which allow for a deep understanding of the model-specific protection mechanisms of the T parameter and the left-handed Z-boson couplings. In pa…
We analyze the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) phenomenology of heavy vector resonances with a $SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R$ spectral global symmetry. This symmetry partially protects the electroweak S-parameter from large contributions of the vector resonances. The resulting custodial vector model spectrum and interactions with the standard model fields lead to distinct signatures at the LHC in the diboson, dilepton and associated Higgs channels.
In an SU(2) gauge theory, if the gauge bosons turn out to be degenerate after spontaneous symmetry breaking, obviously these mass terms are invariant under a global SU(2) symmetry that is unbroken. The pure gauge terms are also invariant under this symmetry. This symmetry is called the {\em custodial symmetry} (CS). In $\rm SU(2)\times U(1)$ gauge theories, CS implies a mass relation between the $W$ and the $Z$ bosons. The Standard Model (SM), as well as various extensions of it in the scalar sector, possess such a symmetry. In this paper, we critically examine the notion of CS and show that t…
We present the copositivity criteria for the scalar sector of our $S_3 \otimes \mathbb{Z}_2$ model, which ensures that it is bounded from below. We also show the scalar mass eigenstates, and identify the Standard Model Higgs boson among these by imposing that its Yukawa couplings are the same in our model and the Standard Model. The $Δρ$ parameter, related to the custodial symmetry, is calculated as well.
We analyze the extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model which includes extra Y=(0,\pm 1) supersymmetric triplets with a global SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R symmetry spontaneousy broken to the custodial SU(2)_V by the vacuum expectation value of the neutral scalar components of doublets and triplets. The model is the supersymmetrization of the non-supersymmetric model introduced long ago by Georgi and Machacek where the ρ-parameter is kept to unity at the tree-level by the custodial symmetry. Accordingly the scalar sector is classified into degenerate SU(2)_V multiplets: singlets, trip…
The triviality of the scalar sector of the standard one-doublet Higgs model implies that it is only an effective low-energy theory valid below some cut-off scale $Λ$. In this note we show that the experimental constraint on the amount of custodial symmetry violation, $|Δρ_* | = α|T | \le 0.4\%$, implies that the scale $Λ$ must be greater than of order 7.5 TeV. For theories defined about the infrared-stable Gaussian fixed-point, we estimate that this lower bound on $Λ$ yields an upper bound of approximately 550 GeV on the Higgs boson's mass, independent of the regulator chosen to define the the…
Custodial Naturalness is a new symmetry-based idea to explain the large separation between the electroweak (EW) scale and ultraviolet completions of the Standard Model (SM). Classical scale invariance is combined with an enhanced scalar-sector custodial symmetry and both are spontaneously broken by dimensional transmutation at a new intermediate scale. The SM-like Higgs boson is an elementary pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone-Boson (pNGB) of the extended custodial symmetry, which naturally explains the suppression of the EW scale without a little hierarchy problem. We explain details of the general mecha…
The Georgi-Machacek model predicts the existence of four neutral Higgs bosons, one of which can be identified as the 125-GeV Higgs boson. The latest Higgs data favor the parameter space of small mixing angle alpha between the two custodial singlets of the model. The other two neutral Higgs bosons belong respectively to the custodial triplet and quintet. We study the general decay and production properties of these particles in the small-alpha scenario. Constraints on the SU(2)_L triplet vacuum expectation value are obtained as a function of the exotic Higgs boson masses using latest ATLAS data…
We investigate a new scenario of the two Higgs doublet model, where the current experimental data for the electroweak rho parameter and those for the Higgs boson couplings can be simultaneously explained. In this scenario, the two Higgs doublet model is supposed to be a low energy effective theory up to a high energy scale $Λ$, above which a fundamental theory should appear. It is assumed that the Higgs potential respects a global symmetry at $Λ$ (the twisted custodial symmetry), which is to be given as a consequence of the global symmetry structure of the fundamental theory above $Λ$. By the …
The generalization of the "custodial symmetry" mechanism which leads to the natural (without fine tuning) explanation of the doublet-triplet hierarchy is suggested in the frames of extended $SU(N\geq 8)$ SUSY GUTs. It is shown also that such type of SUSY GUT can predict the value of strong gauge coupling constant $α_S(M_Z)$ consistent with present experimental data.
There is a good reason why the standard electroweak SU(2) X U(1) gauge model may be supplemented by two Higgs scalar doublets. They may be remnants of the spontaneous breaking of an SU(2) X SU(2) X U(1) gauge symmetry at a much higher energy scale. In one case, the two-doublet Higgs potential has a custodial SU(2) symmetry and implies an observable scalar triplet. In another, a light neutral scalar becomes possible.
We investigate precision observables sensitive to custodial symmetric/violating UV physics beyond the Standard Model. We use the SMEFT framework which in general includes non-oblique corrections that requires a generalization of the Peskin-Takeuchi $T$ parameter to unambiguously detect custodial symmetry/violation. We take a first step towards constructing a SMEFT reparameterization-invariant replacement, that we call $\mathscr{T}$, valid at least for tree-level custodial violating contributions. We utilize a new custodial basis of $ν$SMEFT (SMEFT augmented by right-handed neutrinos) which exp…
With the prospect of improved Higgs measurements at the LHC and at proposed future colliders such as ILC, CLIC and TLEP we study the non-custodial Randall-Sundrum model with bulk SM fields and compare brane and bulk Higgs scenarios. We compute the electroweak precision observables and argue that incalculable contributions to these, in the form of higher dimensional operators, could have a non-negligable impact. This could potentially reduce the bound on the lowest Kaluza-Klein gauge boson masses to the 5 TeV range, making these states detectable at the LHC. In a second part, we compute the mis…
The triviality of the scalar sector of the standard one-doublet Higgs model implies that this model is only an effective low-energy theory valid below some cut-off scale Lambda. We show that the experimental constraint on the amount of custodial symmetry violation implies that the scale Lambda must be greater than of order 7.5 TeV. The underlying high-energy theory must also include flavor dynamics at a scale of order Lambda or greater in order to give rise to the different Yukawa couplings of the Higgs to ordinary fermions. This flavor dynamics will generically produce flavor-changing neutral…
The observation of diphoton excess around the mass of 750 GeV in LHC Run-II motivates us to consider whether the singlet Higgs boson in the custodial Higgs triplet model can serve as a good candidate because an earlier study of comprehensive parameter scan shows that it can have the right mass in the viable mass spectra. By assuming the singlet Higgs mass at 750 GeV, its total width less than 50 GeV and imposing constraints from the LHC 8-TeV data, we identify an approximately linear region on the $(v_Δ, α)$ plane along which the exotic Higgs boson masses satisfy a specific hierarchy and have …
We show how the symmetry breaking pattern of the simplest little Higgs model, and that of the smallest moose model that incorporates an approximate custodial SU(2), can be realized through the condensation of strongly coupled fermions. In each case a custodial SU(2) symmetry of the new strong dynamics limits the sizes of corrections to precision electroweak observables. In the case of the simplest little Higgs, there are no new light states beyond those present in the original model. However, our realization of the symmetry breaking pattern of the moose model predicts an additional scalar fiel…
We consider Randall-Sundrum scenarios based on SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R and a discrete parity exchanging L with R. The custodial and parity symmetries can be used to make the tree level contribution to the T parameter and the anomalous couplings of the bottom quark to the Z very small. We show that the resulting quantum numbers typically induce a negative T parameter at one loop that, together with the positive value of the S parameter, restrict considerably these models. There are nevertheless regions of parameter space that successfully reproduce the fit to electroweak precision observables with li…
We study precision electroweak constraints within a RS1 model with gauge fields and fermions in the bulk. The electroweak gauge symmetry is enhanced to SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{B-L}, thereby providing a custodial isospin symmetry sufficient to suppress excessive contributions to the T parameter. We then construct complete models, complying with all electroweak constraints, for solving the hierarchy problem, without supersymmetry or large hierarchies in the fundamental couplings. Using the AdS/CFT correspondence our models can be interpreted as dual to a strongly coupled conformal Hi…
Observable states are gauge-invariant. In a non-Abelian gauge theory, these are necessarily composite operators. We investigate the spectrum of these operators in the two-Higgs-doublet model. For this purpose, we are working along the lines of the Fröhlich-Morchio-Strocchi mechanism to relate the physical spectrum to the spectrum of the elementary particles. We also investigate the consequences of spontaneous breaking of the global (custodial) symmetry group. Finally, we briefly comment on how to test the results using lattice methods.
We present upto date electroweak fits of various Randall Sundrum (RS) models. We consider the bulk RS model, deformed RS and the custodial RS models. For the bulk RS case we find the lightest Kaluza Klein (KK) mode of the gauge boson to be $\sim 8$ TeV while for the custodial case it is $\sim 3$ TeV. The deformed model is the least fine tuned of all which can give a good fit for KK masses $< 2$ TeV depending on the choice of the model parameters. We also comment on the fine tuning in each case.
We study the effects of extended fermion sectors, respecting custodial symmetry, on Higgs production and decay. The resulting protection for the Z->b_L b_L and Z->τ_Rτ_R decays allows for potentially interesting signals in Higgs physics, while maintaining the good agreement of the Standard Model with precision tests, without significant fine-tuning. Although being viable setups on their own, the models we study can particularly be motivated as the low energy effective theories of the composite Higgs models MCHM_5 and MCHM_10 or the corresponding gauge-Higgs unification models. The spectra can …
While little Higgs models provide an interesting way to address the hierarchy problem, concrete models in the literature typically face two major obstacles. First, the mechanism for generating a Higgs quartic coupling often leads to large violations of custodial symmetry. Second, there is a tension between precision electroweak observables in the gauge sector and fine-tuning in the top sector. In this work, we present a new little Higgs model which solves both of these problems. The model is based on an SO(6)xSO(6)/SO(6) coset space which has custodial symmetry built in. The Higgs quartic coup…
