I review constraints on possible New Physics interactions from D0-anti-D0 mixing measurements. I consider the most general low energy effective Hamiltonian and include leading order QCD running of effective operators. I discuss constraints from an extensive list of popular New Physics models, each of which could be discovered at the LHC, that can generate these operators. In most of the scenarios, strong constraints that surpass those from other search techniques could be placed on the allowed parameter space using the existent evidence for observation of D-meson mixing.
We study flavor-changing neutral current and CP violations in the minimal supersymmetric left-right model. We calculate the beyond-standard-model contributions to the neutral kaon mixing $ΔM_K$ and $ε$, and find possible to have a numerical cancelation between the contributions from the right-handed gauge boson and supersymmetric box diagram. With the cancelation, the right-handed $W$-boson mass scale can be lowered to about 2 TeV, well within the search limit of LHC.
Neutral mesons exhibit a phenomenon called flavour mixing. As a consequence of a second order weak process the flavour eigenstates corresponding to the meson and its anti-meson are superpositions of two mass eigenstates. A meson produced in a flavour state changes into an anti-meson and back again as a function of time. Such flavour oscillations are considered sensitive probes of physics beyond the Standard Model. In this brief review I summarize the status of experimental constraints on mixing parameters in the B_s meson system.
We analyze the chargino contributions to B_d - B-bar_d mixing and CP asymmetry of the B_d --> J/psi K_S decay, in the framework of the mass insertion approximation. We derive model independent bounds on the relevant mass insertions. Moreover, we study these contributions in supersymmetric models with minimal flavor violation, Hermitian flavor structure, and small CP violating phases and universal strength Yukawa couplings. We show that in supersymmetric models with large flavor mixing, the observed values of sin(2 beta) may be entirely due to the chargino-up-squark loops.
Ultraviolet completions for axion-like particles (ALPs) lighter than the neutral pion generically induce ALP-neutral pion mixing, and are therefore sensitive to direct constraints on the mixing angle. For ALPs below the pion mass, we demonstrate that strong and novel bounds on the ALP-pion mixing angle can be extracted from existing rare pion decay data, measured by the PIENU and PIBETA experiments.
There has been a lot of recent interest in the experimental hints of CP violation in B_{d,s}^0 mixing, which would be a clear signal of beyond the standard model physics (with higher significance). We derive a new relation for the mixing parameters, which allows clearer interpretation of the data in models in which new physics enters in M_12 and/or Γ_12. Our results imply that the central value of the DØ measurement of the semileptonic CP asymmetry in B_{d,s}^0 decay is not only in conflict with the standard model, but in a stronger tension with data on ΔΓ_s than previously appreciated. This r…
We study the constraints on the mass-splitting of the first two generations of left-handed squarks obtained from Delta M_K, epsilon_K and D mixing. The different contributions from gluino, neutralino and chargino diagrams are examined in detail, concluding that it is not justified to neglect electroweak gaugino diagrams if the squark mass matrices contain flavor non-diagonal LL elements. We find that the constraints on the mass-splitting are very strong for light gluino masses. However, if the gluino is heavier than the squarks the constraints on the mass-splitting are much weaker. There are e…
Upper bounds at the weak scale are obtained for all $λ_{ij}λ_{im}$ type product couplings of the scalar leptoquark model which may affect K-K(bar), B_d-B_d(bar), and B_s-B_s(bar)$ mixing, as well as leptonic and semileptonic K and B decays. Constraints are obtained for both real and imaginary parts of the couplings. We also discuss the role of leptoquarks in explaining the anomalously large CP-violating phase in B_s-B_s(bar) mixing.
The bimaximal (BM) neutrino mixing matrix was formulated in order to accommodate the data of the experimental results which indicate that both solar and atmospheric neutrino oscillation in vacuum are near maximal. But, after the T2K and Daya Bay Collaborations reported that the mixing angle $θ_{13}$ is nonzero and relatively large, many authors have modified the neutrino mixing matrix in order to accommodate experimental data. We modified the BM mixing matrix by introducing a simple perturbation matrix into BM mixing matrix. The modified BM mixing matrix can proceed the mixing angles which are…
Motivated by the first experimental evidence of meson oscillations in the D system, we study D^0 - \bar D^0 mixing in the Littlest Higgs model with T-parity, we investigate its role in constraining the model parameters and its impact on the most interesting flavour observables. We find that the experimental data are potentially strongly constraining but at present limited by large theoretical uncertainties in the long-distance Standard Model contribution to D^0 - \bar D^0 mixing.

Models with extended quark sector affect the CP asymmetry in the $B\to ψK_{S}$ decay, $a_{ψK_{S}}$, in two ways: First, the top-mediated box diagram is not necessarily the only important contribution to $B-\bar{B}$ mixing. Second, the $3\times 3$ CKM matrix is no longer unitary. We analyze the constraints that follow from the CDF measurement, $a_{ψK_{S}} =0.79^{+0.41}_{-0.44}$, on the mixing parameters of extended quark sectors. Most noticeably, we find significant constraints on the phase of the relevant flavor changing $Z$ coupling in models with extra down quarks in vector-like representati…
We examine the current lower bound on the charged Higgs boson mass in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. By applying direct search constraints on the neutral Higgs bosons and other supersymmetric states, as well as a number of indirect constraints (b -> s gamma, B_s -> mu mu, B -> tau nu, B -> D tau nu), we find that it is possible to push the charged Higgs boson mass as low as 140 GeV. We work in a completely low-energy approach with no assumptions about scalar mass unification, examining two of the most popular limits for neutral Higgs boson searches: the Max-Mixing and No-Mixing sce…

New physics contributions to B_s-\bar{B}_s mixing can be parametrized by the size (r_s^2) and the phase (2θ_s) of the total mixing amplitude relative to the Standard Model amplitude. The phase has so far been unconstrained. We first use the D0 measurement of the semileptonic CP asymmetry A_SL to obtain the first constraint on the semileptonic CP asymmetry in B_s decays, A_SL^s=-0.008 \pm 0.011. Then we combine recent measurements by the CDF and D0 collaborations - the mass difference (ΔM_s), the width difference (ΔΓ_s) and A_SL^s - to constrain 2θ_s. The errors on ΔΓ_s and A_SL^s should still …
We study the mass, the mixing and the coupling with $Z$ boson of the lightest Higgs boson in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. The vacuum structure of the Higgs potential is analyzed and the new false vacua are discussed. The significant parameter region can be excluded by requiring that the realistic vacuum is deeper than false vacua, which result in constraints on the properties of the lightest Higgs boson.
We study the constraint arising from the recently observed D - anti-D mixing in the context of supersymmetric models with left-right symmetry. In these models, the supersymmetric contributions in the mixing amplitudes of D - anti-D, K - anti-K and B - anti-B are all correlated. We compare the constraint from the D - anti-D mixing with the K - anti-K mixing and find that the D - anti-D mixing constrains the maximal supersymmetric contribution to the B_s - anti-B_s mixing amplitude. The maximal supersymmetric contribution can allow a large CP phase of B_s - anti-B_s mixing which agrees with the …
To understand the mass spectra of charged lepton and neutrino $A_4$ symmetry has been proposed in addition with the Standard $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$ model. We break $A_4$ symmetry softly and the deviation from the tri-bimaximal mixing arises due to Zee mechanism. In the present work, we express two mixing angles $θ_{13}$ and $θ_{23}$ in terms of a single model parameter and experimental observables, such as, mixing angle $θ_{12}$, mass squared differences $Δm^2_{21}$ and $Δm^2_{32}$. Using the experimental values of $θ_{23}$, $θ_{12}$, $Δm^2_{21}$ and $Δm^2_{32}$ we restrict the model parameter…
Usually, B->pi+pi- decays are expressed in terms of weak amplitudes explicitly dependent on the CKM weak phase alpha or gamma. In this letter, we show that the weak amplitudes can be rewritten such that a manifest dependence on beta emerges instead. Based on this, we constrain new-physics contributions to the CP-violating phase phi_d in B_0 anti-B_0 mixing. Further, we apply reparametrization invariance and use QCD factorization predictions to investigate the bounds on an additional new-physics amplitude in B->pi+pi-.
Using existing experimental information from K, B and D decays as well as electroweak precision tests and oblique parameters, we provide constraints and correlations on the parameters of the 4X4 mixing matrix for the Standard Model with four generations (SM4). We emphasize that some correlations amongst the parameters have important repercussions for key observables. We work with a particular representation of this matrix which is highly suited for extracting information from B-decays. Implications of the resulting constraints for time dependent and semileptonic CP asymmetries for $D^0$, $B^0$…
The nonleading corrections in the inverse mass of the heavy charmed quark to the effective local ΔS=2 Lagrangian of K^0-anti K^0 mixing are calculated within the standard model.
We point out how, in certain models, the same combination of New Physics couplings occur in the amplitudes for both D0-anti-D0 mixing and the rare decays D0 -> l+l-. If the New Physics dominates and is responsible for the observed mixing, then a very simple correlation exists between the magnitudes of each; in fact the rates for the decay D0 -> l+l- are completely fixed by the mixing. Observation of D0 -> l+l- in excess of the Standard Model prediction could identify New Physics contributions to D0-anti-D0 mixing.
We consider right handed neutrino emission from charged and neutral pion condensate matter likely to be present in the supernova core associated with SN 1987 A. This is used to constrain the strength of right handed interaction and we get excluded range of values for the right handed $W$ boson and extra neutral $Z'$ boson masses. For vanishing $W_L-W_R$ mixing we obtain $ (1.3-1.8)\,M_{W_L} \,\approx \leq\,M_{W_R} \, \leq\approx 100\, M_{W_L} \, {\rm and}\, (1.3-1.8)\,M_{W_L}\, \approx \leq \, M_{N'}\,\leq\approx \,225 \,M_{W_L}$
We present a calculation of the B0 - anti-B0 mixing matrix element in the framework of QCD sum rules for three-point functions. We compute alpha_s corrections to a three-point function at the three-loop level in QCD perturbation theory, which allows one to extract the matrix element with next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy. This calculation is imperative for a consistent evaluation of experimentally-measured mixing parameters since the coefficient functions of the effective Hamiltonian for B0 - anti-B0 mixing are known at NLO. We find that radiative corrections violate factorization at NLO; t…
We discuss the impact of different solar neutrino data on the spin-flavor-precession (SFP) mechanism of neutrino conversion. We find that, although detailed solar rates and spectra allow the SFP solution as a sub-leading effect, the recent KamLAND constraint on the solar antineutrino flux places stronger constraints to this mechanism. Moreover, we show that for the case of random magnetic fields inside the Sun, one obtains a more stringent constraint on the neutrino magnetic moment down to the level of μ_ν\lsim few \times 10^{-12}μ_B, similar to bounds obtained from star cooling.
We reanalyze the recent data from the Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector (LSND) experiment, that might indicate anti-nu_mu<--->anti-nu_e mixing. This indication is not completely excluded by the negative results of established accelerator and reactor neutrino oscillation searches. We quantify the region of compatibility by means of a thorough statistical analysis of all the available data, assuming both two-flavor and three-flavor neutrino oscillations. The implications for various theoretical scenarios and for future oscillation searches are studied. The relaxation of the LSND constraints …
We investigate how precisely the CP nature of the 125 GeV Higgs boson, parametrized by a scalar-pseudoscalar Higgs mixing angle, can be determined in Higgs-to-tau-pair decay with subsequent tau-lepton decays to charged prongs at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We combine two methods in order to define an observable which is sensitive to this scalar-pseudoscalar mixing angle: We use the rho-decay plane method for tau-to-rho decays and the impact parameter method for all other major tau decays. For estimating the precision with which the mixing angle can be measured at the LHC (13 TeV) we take …
In this letter we consider the case of primary scalar unparticle contributions to B(d,s) mixing. With particular emphasis on the impact of the recent hint of new physics in the measurement of the B(s) mixing phase, phi(s), we determine the allowed parameter space and impose bounds on the unparticle couplings.
The Bs-Bsbar mixing parameter Delta Ms is studied in the MSSM with large tan beta. The recent Tevatron measurement of Delta Ms is used to constrain the MSSM parameter space. From this analysis the often neglected contribution to Delta Ms from the operator Q^SLL is found to be significant.
In current searches for D0 anti-D0 mixing, the time evolution of ``wrong-sign'' decays is used to distinguish between a potential mixing signal and the dominant background from doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed decays. A term proportional to $ΔMt$ in the expression for the time evolution is often neglected in theoretical discussions and experimental analyses of these processes. We emphasize that, in general, this term does not vanish even in the case of CP invariance. Furthermore, CP invariance is likely to be violated if the rate of D0 anti-D0 mixing is close to the experimental bound. The consequenc…
We show that because of the milder GIM suppression, the four-quark dipenguin operator contributes to the short distance piece of the D^0-\bar D^0 mixing amplitude at the same order of magnitude as the box diagram. In addition, we put an upper bound Δm_D^{LDR} \leq 5 \times Δm_D^{box} on a long-distance resonant contribution induced by the penguin mixing.
The mixing of $K^0-\bar{K^0}$, $D^0-\bar{D^0}$ and $B_{(s)}^0-\bar{B^0_{(s)}}$ provides a sensitive probe to explore new physics beyond the Standard Model. The scale invariant unparticle physics recently proposed by Georgi can induce flavor-changing neutral current and contribute to the mixing at tree level. We investigate the unparticle effects on $B^0-\bar{B^0}$ and $D^0-\bar{D^0}$ mixing. Especially, the newly observed $D^0-\bar{D^0}$ mixing sets the most stringent constraints on the coupling of the unparticle to quarks.
In the context of the left--right symmetric model, the decay $b \rightarrow s γ$ receives contributions from the gauge interactions mediated mainly by the $W_L$, through $W_L$--$W_R$ mixing and also from the Yukawa interactions of the charged and the neutral (flavour-changing) scalars (the latter type of Yukawa interaction has been overlooked in the previous literature). Following the recent CLEO measurement of the inclusive $b \rightarrow s γ$ process and the measurement of the top-quark mass by the CDF and D0 collaborations, the parameter space of the left--right symmetric model is more sque…
We discuss the constraints derived on the mixing of photons with light pseudoscalars using the distributions of good-quality linear and circular polarisation measurements of light from the least polarised classes of quasars. We also provide the dependence of our limit on the average electron density in the local supercluster for nearly massless particles.
Models of neutrino mixing involving one or more sterile neutrinos have resurrected their importance in the light of recent cosmological data. In this case, reactor antineutrino experiments offer an ideal place to look for signatures of sterile neutrinos due to their impact on neutrino flavor transitions. In this work, we show that the high-precision data of the Daya Bay experi\-ment constrain the 3+1 neutrino scenario imposing upper bounds on the relevant active-sterile mixing angle $\sin^2 2 θ_{14} \lesssim 0.06$ at 3$σ$ confidence level for the mass-squared difference $Δm^2_{41}$ in the rang…
Recently, the CDF collaboration has reported a measurement of the CP asymmetry in the $B\toψK_S$ decay: $a_{ψK_S}=0.79^{+0.41}_{-0.44}$. We analyze the constraints that follow from this measurement on the size and the phase of contributions from new physics to $B-\barB$ mixing. Defining the relative phase between the full $M_{12}$ amplitude and the Standard Model contribution to be $2θ_d$, we find a new bound: $\sin2θ_d\gsim-0.6 (-0.87)$ at one sigma (95% CL). Further implications for the CP asymmetry in semileptonic B decays are discussed.
I summarize the observables constraining the B_s-B_s-bar mixing complex and present a new calculation of the element Gamma_{12}^s of the decay matrix. Gamma_{12}^s enters the prediction of the width difference Delta Gamma_s, for which we obtain Delta Gamma_s^SM = 0.088 +/- 0.017 ps^(-1), if no new physics enters B_s-B_s-bar mixing. Applying our formulae to Tevatron data we find a deviation of the B_s-B_s-bar mixing phase phi_s from its Standard Model value by 2 standard deviations. I stress that present data do not give any information on the sign of Delta Gamma_s.
According to the standard model, the Cabibbo-favored (CF) decays are $CP$ conserve at tree level. Observation of any finite $CP$ asymmetry can be received as a signal of new physics. In CF charm meson decays, $ D^0 \rightarrow K^- π^+ $ and $ D^+ \rightarrow K_s^0 π^+ $, the following experimental values for their $CP$ asymmetry are reported, respectively: ($0.3 \pm 0.7$) % and ($-0.41 \pm 0.09$) %. The value of the later can be attributed to the mixing of $ K^0 $ and $ \overline{K^0} $, however, its contribution is about ($-0.332 \pm 0.006 $) %. In this paper, we use these experimental result…
The Standard Model contribution to D0-anti-D0 mixing is dominated by the contributions of light s and d quarks. Neglecting the tiny effects due to b quark, both mass and lifetime differences vanish in the limit of SU(3) symmetry. Thus, the main challenge in the Standard Model calculation of the mass and width difference in the D0-anti-D0 system is to estimate the size of SU(3) breaking effects. We prove that D meson mixing occurs in the Standard Model only at second order in SU(3) violation. We consider the possibility that phase space effects may be the dominant source of SU(3) breaking. We f…
We present the result for the invariant B_K factor of K0-anti-K0 mixing in the chiral limit and to next-to-leading order in the 1/Nc expansion. We explicitly demonstrate the cancellation of the renormalization scale and scheme dependences between short- and long-distance contributions in the final expression. Numerical estimates are then given, by taking into account increasingly refined short- and long-distance constraints of the underlying QCD Green's function which governs the B_K factor.
We study the constraints on supersymmetric contributions to b to s transitions from the recent allowed range and measurement of Bs-Bsbar mixing obtained by the D0 and CDF collaborations at the Tevatron. We compute the upper bounds on the relevant off-diagonal squark mass terms and compare them with the bounds coming from Delta F=1 decays. We find that the constraints on chirality-flipping mass insertions are unaffected. Conversely, the measurement of Bs-Bsbar mixing is effective in constraining chirality-conserving mass insertions, and it has striking effects in the case in which left- and rig…
In this work we investigate the contribution to B(d,s) mixing from both scalar and vector unparticles in a number of scenarios. The emphasis of this work is to show the impact of the recently discovered 3 sigma evidence for new physics found in the CP phase of B(s) mixing. Here we show that the inclusion of the CP phase constraints for both B(d) and B(s) mixing improves the bounds set on the unparticle couplings by a factor of 2~4, and one particular scenario of scalar unparticles is found to be excluded by the 3 sigma measurement of phi(s).
In this letter, we propose three different strategies to extract the weak mixing angle phi_s of the Bs system using penguin-mediated decays into vectors, mainly Bs->K*K*, Bs->phi K* and Bs->phi phi. We also provide predictions for the longitudinal branching ratio and CP-asymmetries of Bs->K*K* using a method that combines QCD factorisation with flavour symmetries to relate this decay to its Bd counterpart.
The type-I seesaw Lagrangian yields a non-generic set of active-sterile oscillation parameters - the neutrino mass eigenvalues and the physical elements of the full mixing matrix are entwined. For this reason one is able to, in principle, test the model by performing enough measurements which are sensitive to neutrino masses and lepton mixing. We point out that for light enough right-handed neutrino masses - less than 10 eV - next-generation short-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments may be able to unambiguously rule out (or "rule in") the low energy seesaw as the Lagrangian that describe…
We describe a fit to the charged fermion mass hierarchy using the chiral quantum numbers of the maximal anti-grand unification group $SMG^3 \times U(1)_f$, where $SMG \equiv SU(3) \times SU(2) \times U(1)$. This fit suggests a set of Higgs fields responsible for the breakdown, near the Planck scale, of $SMG^3 \times U(1)_f$ to the Standard Model group.
The first general analysis of New Physics contributions to the D0-anti-D0 lifetime difference (equivalently Delta Gamma_D} is presented. The extent to which New Physics (NP) contributions to |Delta C|=1 processes can produce effects in Delta Gamma_D, even if such NP contributions are undetectable in the current round of D0 decay experiments, is studied. New Physics models which do and do not dominate the lifetime difference in the flavor SU(3) limit are identified. Specific examples are provided.
We study the B-parameter (``bag factor'') for B-anti-B mixing within a recently developed heavy-light chiral quark model. Non-factorizable contributions in terms of gluon condensates and chiral corrections are calculated. In addition, we also consider 1/m_Q corrections within heavy quark effective field theory. Perturbative QCD effects below μ= m_b known from other work are also included. Considering two sets of input parameters, we find that the renormalization invariant B-parameter is B = 1.51 +- 0.09 for B_d and B = 1.40 +- 0.16 for B_s.
The fermion masses and mixing angles are fitted using only 3 free parameters in a non-supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model, with new approximately conserved chiral gauge quantum numbers broken by a set of Higgs fields. The fundamental mass scale of this anti-grand unification model is given by the Planck mass. We also calculate neutrino mixing angles and masses, as well as CP violation from the CKM matrix. A good fit is obtained to the observed fermion masses but our predictions of the neutrino masses are too small to lead to any observable neutrino oscillation effects claimed today,…
We consider the $ν_μ\to ν_τ$ appearance channel in the future Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) which offers a good statistics of the $ν_τ$ sample. In order to measure its impact on constraining the oscillation parameters, we consider several assumptions on the efficiency for $ν_τ$ charged-current signal events (with subsequent $τ\to e$ decay) and the related backgrounds and study the effects of various systematic uncertainties. Two different neutrino fluxes have been considered, namely a CP-violation optimized flux and a $ν_τ$ optimized flux. Our results show that the addition of th…
We study extensions of the Standard Model where the charged current weak interactions are governed by the CKM matrix and where all tree-level decays are dominated by their Standard Model contribution. We constrain both analytically and numerically the ratio and the phase difference between the New Physics and the Standard Model contributions to the mixing amplitude of the neutral $B$ system using the experimental results on $R_u$, $Δm_{d,s}$, $ε_K$ and $a_{ψK_S}$. We present new results concerning models with minimal flavor violation and update the relevant parameter space. We also study the l…
We combine the analyses for flavor changing neutral current processes and dark matter solutions in minimal-type supersymmetric grand unified theory (GUT) models, SO(10) and SU(5), with a large B_s - anti-B_s mixing phase and large tan beta. For large tan beta, the double penguin diagram dominates the SUSY contribution to the B_s - anti-B_s mixing amplitude. Also, the Br(B_s -> mu mu) constraint becomes important as it grows as tan^6 beta, although it can still be suppressed by large pseudoscalar Higgs mass m_A. We investigate the correlation between B_s -> mu mu and the dark matter direct dete…
Celestial objects such as stars and planets might be able to capture a large amount of dark matter particles through dark matter-nucleon scattering. Many previous studies have considered different celestial objects such as the Sun and the Earth as natural dark matter detectors and obtained some stringent bounds of the dark matter-nucleon scattering cross section. In this study, we use the $\sim 10$ MeV electron neutrino flux limits obtained by the Super-Kamiokande experiment and consider the Earth as a large natural dark matter detector to constrain the dark matter-nucleon scattering cross sec…
We argue that extended technicolor augmented with topcolor requires that all mixing between the third and the first two quark generations resides in the mixing matrix of left-handed down quarks. Then, the anti-B_d--B_d mixing that occurs in topcolor models constrains the coloron and Z' boson masses to be greater than about 5 TeV. This implies fine tuning of the topcolor couplings to better than 1%.
The eV-scale sterile neutrino has been proposed to explain some anomalous results in experiments, \textit{such as} the deficit of reactor neutrino fluxes and the excess of $\barν_μ\to\barν_e$ in LSND. This hypothesis can be tested by future core-collapse supernova neutrino detection independently since the active-sterile mixing scheme affects the flavor conversion of neutrinos inside the supernova. In this work, we compute the predicted supernova neutrino events in future detectors -- DUNE, Hyper-K, and JUNO -- for neutrinos emitted during the neutronization burst phase when the luminosity of …
We argue that there could be large, SU(3) violating resonance contributions to D -> K pi decays which would affect the extraction of the D0-anti-D0 mixing parameters from experiment. Such contributions can induce a large strong phase in the interference between the doubly Cabibbo suppressed and the mixing induced Cabibbo favored contributions to the D0 -> K^+ pi^- and anti-D0 -> K^- pi^+ decays. Consequently, the interpretation of a large, CP conserving interference term can involve a large mass difference Delta M rather than a large width difference Delta Gamma.
We searched for a sidereal modulation in the rate of neutrinos observed by the MINOS far detector. The detection of these signals could be a signature of neutrino-antineutrino mixing due to Lorentz and CPT violation as described by the Standard-Model Extension framework. We found no evidence for these sidereal signals and we placed limits on the coefficients in this theory describing the effect.
If ultralight $(\ll$ eV), bosonic dark matter couples to right handed neutrinos, active neutrino masses and mixing angles depend on the ambient dark matter density. When the neutrino Majorana mass, induced by the dark matter background, is small compared to the Dirac mass, neutrinos are "pseudo-Dirac" fermions that undergo oscillations between nearly degenerate active and sterile states. We present a complete cosmological history for such a scenario and find severe limits from a variety of terrestrial and cosmological observables. For scalar masses in the "fuzzy" dark matter regime ($\sim 10^{…
