Thermalization is one of the key questions in understanding the matter created in Au+Au collisions at RHIC. Heavy-flavor quark collectivity could be used to indicate the degree of thermalization of the light-flavor quarks. Heavy quark energy loss could give important information on color charge density of the medium. Direct reconstruction of open charm hadrons is essential for these measurements. The Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT) is a proposed upgrade of the STAR experiment. Full GEANT simulation of tracking with HFT was performed, showing its excellent capability to reconstruct open charm hadrons in broad p_T range at midrapidity. Estimated errors on measurement of D0 meson v_2 and R_{CP} are presented.
The HFT, a new inner tracking detector for STAR, aims to measure the charmed hadron nuclear modification factor as well as their elliptic flow to the low $p_\mathrm{T}$ region ($\sim$0.5 GeV/c) by measuring the displaced vertices of charmed particles.
Anisotropic flow measurements have demonstrated development of partonic collectivity in $200\mathrm{GeV}$ Au+Au collisions at RHIC. To understand the partonic EOS, thermalization must be addressed. Collective motion of heavy-flavor (c,b) quarks can be used to indicate the degree of thermalization of the light-flavor quarks (u,d,s). Measurement of heavy-flavor quark collectivity requires direct reconstruction of heavy-flavor hadrons in the low $\pt$ region. Measurement of open charm spectra to high $\pt$ can be used to investigate heavy-quark energy loss and medium properties. The Heavy Flavor …
We report on measurements of open charm production through both hadronic and semi-leptonic decay channels in $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV heavy ion collision at the STAR experiment at RHIC. We compare experimental results to theoretical predictions from pQCD. The open charm $R_{AA}$ is also presented as evidence of possible medium-induced energy loss.
We present the mid-rapidity $(D^{0} + \bar{D^{0}})/2$ yield measured in $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV Cu+Cu collisions at RHIC via direct reconstruction through the $Kπ$ decay channel. A charm cross-section is reported and compared to theoretical predictions and to previous RHIC experimental results.
We present the open charm spectra at mid-rapidity from direct reconstruction of D0, D* and D+/- in d+Au collisions at sqrt(sNN)=200 GeV using the STAR detector at RHIC. The indirect electron/positron measurements via charm semileptonic decays in p+p and d+Au collisions are also reported. The total c\bar(c) cross section per nucleon-nucleon collision is extracted from both direct and indirect measurements and are consistent with each other. By combining the D0 and semileptonic measurements together, the cross section of 1.4+/-0.2+/-0.4 mb is higher than expectations from PYTHIA and other pQCD c…
We present first results on D^0 meson production via direct reconstruction of its hadronic decay channel D^0->K pi in minimum bias Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s_(NN))=200 GeV with p_T up to ~3 GeV/c. Single electron spectra with 1<p_T<4 GeV/c from the charm semi-leptonic decays are also analyzed from the same data set. The charm production total cross-section per nucleon-nucleon collision is measured to be 1.11+/-0.08(stat.)+/-0.42(sys.) mb in minimum bias Au+Au collisions, which is consistent with the N_(bin) scaling compared to d+Au collisions. The nuclear modification factors of the single ele…
Charm quarks are an excellent probe to study properties of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) created in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. In particular, measurements of the $D_{s}^{\pm}$ meson production can provide valuable information on the charm quark hadronization mechanism in the QGP. We report the measurements from the STAR experiment on the invariant yields of $D_{s}^{\pm}$ mesons as a function of transverse momentum for different centrality classes of Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}$ = 200 GeV. These measurements utilize the data with the Heavy Flavor Tracker detector from…
We present the measurements of $D^0$ and $D^*$ in p+p and $D^0$ in Au+Au collisions via hadronic decays $D^{0}\rightarrow K^{-}π^{+}$, $D^{*+}\rightarrow D^{0}π^{+}\rightarrow K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}$ in mid-rapidity $|y|<1$ at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}$ = 200 GeV, covering $p_T$ from 0.2 to 6 GeV/$c$ in p+p and 0.4 to 5 GeV/$c$ in Au+Au, respectively. The charm pair production cross section per nucleon-nucleon collision at mid rapidity is measured to be 202 $\pm$ 56 (stat.) $\pm$ 40 (sys.) $\pm$ 20 (norm.) $μ$b in p+p and 186 $\pm$ 22 (stat.) $\pm$ 30 (sys.) $\pm$ 18 (norm.) $μ$b in Au+Au minimum bias co…
We present the first results from the STAR MTD of mid-rapidity charmonium measurements via the di-muon decay channel in p$+$p, p$+$Au, and Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=200$~GeV at RHIC. The inclusive $J/ψ$ production cross section in p$+$p collisions can be described by the Non-Relativistic QCD (NRQCD) formalism coupled with the color glass condensate effective theory (CGC) at low transverse momentum ($p_T$) and next-to-leading order NRQCD at high $p_T$. The nuclear modification factor in p$+$Au collisions for inclusive $J/ψ$ is below unity at low $p_T$ and consistent with unity…
We present the first comprehensive measurement of $D^{0}, D^{+}, D^{*+}$ and their charge conjugate states at mid-rapidity in $d$+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$=200 GeV using the STAR TPC. The directly measured open charm multiplicity distribution covers a broad transverse momentum region of 0$<p_{T}<11$ GeV/$c$. The measured $dN/dy$ at mid-rapidity for $D^{0}$ is $0.0265\pm 0.0036 (stat.) \pm 0.0071 (syst.)$ and the measured $D^{*+}/D^{0}$ and $D^{+}/D^{0}$ ratios are approximately equal with a magnitude of $0.40\pm 0.09(stat.) \pm 0.13(syst.)$. The total $c\bar{c}$ cross section per nuc…
e present measurements on $D^0$ meson production via direct reconstruction of its hadronic decay channel $D^0\to Kπ$ in minimum bias $d$+Au and Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV with $p_T$ up to $\sim$3 GeV/$c$. Non-photonic electron spectra from the charm semi-leptonic decays are analyzed from the same data set as well as in $p$+$p$ collision at $\sqrt{s}$=200 GeV using the STAR Time-of-Flight (TOF) and Barrel EMC (BEMC) detectors, respectively. Results of the charm-decayed single muon (prompt muon) spectra are also presented at low $p_T$ in Au+Au collisions measured by the TOF dete…
Recent measurements of elliptic flow (v_2) and the nuclear modification factor (R_{CP}) of strange mesons and baryons in the intermediate p_T domain in Au+Au collisions demonstrate a scaling with the number of constituent-quarks. This suggests hadron production via quark coalescence from a thermalized parton system. Measuring the elliptic flow of charmed hadrons, which are believed to originate rather from fragmentation than from coalescence processes, might therefore change our view of hadron production in heavy ion collisions. While direct v_2 measurements of charmed hadrons are currently no…
We report first STAR measurement on two heavy-flavor particle correlations in p+p collisions at RHIC. Heavy-flavor (charm and bottom) events are identified and separated on a statistical basis by the azimuthal correlation of their decay electrons and open charm mesons, which yield important information about the underlying production mechanism. The azimuthal correlation distribution exhibits a two-peak structure which can be attributed to B decays on the near-side and predominantly charm pair production on the away-side. These assumptions are supported by dedicated simulations using PYTHIA and…
Observations by the PHENIX and STAR collaborations suggest that a strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma is produced in heavy-ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). After a brief introduction to heavy-ion physics, measurements of heavy-quark production in heavy-ion collisions and the modification of heavy-quark spectra by the QGP are presented. Measurements of the total charm cross-section in several different collision systems confirm that charm quark-antiquark pairs are produced through parton hard-scattering in the initial stages of the collisions. Non-photonic electrons…
We report on recent heavy flavor measurements from the STAR experiment at RHIC. The measured charm cross section in heavy-ion collisions scales with the number of binary collisions, which is an indication for exclusive charm production in the initial state of the collision. The observed strong suppression of non-photonic electrons at high $\pt$ in Au+Au collisions together with the azimuthal correlation measurements in p+p collisions imply a suppression of $B$ production in heavy-ion collisions. We also present recent measurements of the $Υ$ cross section in p+p collisions.
Heavy quarks are a unique probe to study the medium produced in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. The dominant process of charm quark production at RHIC is believed to be initial gluon fusion which can be calculated in the perturbative QCD. The upper limit of FONLL calculation seems to be in good agreement with charm cross section measurements at mid-rapidity in $p+p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV provided by STAR. The same measurement in Au+Au collisions at equal energy reveals the number-of-binary-collisions scaling of charm cross section indicating that charm production is …
Heavy-flavor quarks are dominantly produced in initial hard scattering processes and experience the whole evolution of the system in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC energies. Thus they are suggested to be an excellent probe to the medium properties through their interaction with the medium. In this proceedings, we report our first measurement of $D^0$ production via topological reconstruction using STAR's recently installed Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT). We also report our new measurement of Nuclear Modification Factor ($R_{AA}$) of $D^0$ mesons in central Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 G…
In this article, we report on the STAR results of open charm hadron production at mid-rapidity in $p+p$ and Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV and $p+p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 500 GeV. The measurements cover transverse momentum range from 0.6 to 6 GeV/c for $p+p$ 200 GeV collisions, from 1 to 6 GeV/c for $p+p$ 500 GeV collisions and from 0 to 6 GeV/c for Au+Au 200 GeV collisions. $D^0$ nuclear modification factor and elliptic flow in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV are presented.
We report on the measurements of production of various charmed hadrons in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 200 GeV (including $D^{0}(\overline{D^{0}})$ and $Λ_{c}^{\pm}$) obtained via topological reconstruction, utilizing the Heavy Flavor Tracker at STAR. Precise results on the $D^{0}$ yields from the 2014 data are reported for a wide transverse momentum range down to 0 in various centrality bins. With the high-statistics data collected in 2014 and 2016, and the usage of a supervised machine learning algorithm for signal-to-background separation, the first measurement of the centrali…
We present STAR measurements of relative charm and bottom contributions to NPE from $p+p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 200 and 500 GeV energies. We report the total bottom quark production cross section from p+p collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 200$ GeV extracted from NPE spectrum and B to D ratios. We also present the NPE-hadron azimuthal correlations from $Au+Au$ collisions at $\sqrtsNN = 200$ GeV from the 2010 RHIC run where we have collected high statistics data set with low photonic conversion background.
We present first STAR measurement on two heavy-flavor particle correlations in $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV $p+p$ collisions at RHIC. Heavy-flavor (charm and bottom) events are identified and separated on a statistical basis through their characteristic decay topology using azimuthal correlation of non-photonic electrons and reconstructed open charmed mesons. The results are compared to simulations from PYTHIA and MC@NLO event generators. The gluon splitting contribution is found to be small. The relative bottom contribution to the non-photonic electrons is $\sim50%$ at $\pT > 5.5$ GeV/c.
Heavy-quark production provides a sensitive probe of the gluon structure of nucleons and its modication in nuclei. It is also a key probe of the hot-dense matter created in heavy-ion collisions. We will discuss the physics issues involved, as seen in quarkonia and open heavy-quark production, starting with those observed in proton-proton collisions. Then cold nuclear matter effects on heavy-quark production including shadowing, gluon saturation, energy loss and absorption will be reviewed in the context of recent proton-nucleus and deuteron-nucleus measurements. Next we survey the most recent …
The PiXeL detector (PXL) for the Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT) of the STAR experiment at RHIC is the first application of the state-of-the-art thin Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) technology in a collider environment. Custom built pixel sensors, their readout electronics and the detector mechanical structure are described in detail. Selected detector design aspects and production steps are presented. The detector operations during the three years of data taking (2014-2016) and the overall performance exceeding the design specifications are discussed in the conclusive sections of this paper…
In these proceedings, heavy flavor production as measured by STAR is disscussed. This can be done directly by reconstruction of the hadronic decays or indirectly by the measurement of electrons from semileptonic decays of heavy quark mesons. The extracted charm production total cross-section per nucleon-nucleon collision in d+Au and Au+Au collisions shows binary scaling, supporting the idea that charm quarks are produced in hard scattering in the initial phase of the collision. The preliminary non-photonic electron spectra from $p+p$, $d+Au$ and $Au+Au$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV at…
We present the analyses of single electrons from semileptonic bottom and charm hadron decays at mid-rapidity in $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 and 54.4 GeV Au+Au collisions (talk in Heavy-Flavor session III). The data at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV incorporate information from the Heavy Flavor Tracker which enables the topological separation of electrons originating from bottom and charm hadron decays. We report the first STAR measurements at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV of $v_{2}$ for bottom decay electrons as a function of $p_{T}$ and $v_{1}$ for charm decay electrons as a function of electron rapidity. A…
Due to the large masses, heavy-flavor quarks are dominantly produced in initial hard scattering processes and experience the whole evolution of the medium produced in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC energies. They are also expected to thermalize slower than light-flavor quarks. Thus the measurement of heavy quark production and azimuthal anisotropy can provide important insights into the medium properties through their interactions with the medium. In these proceedings, we report measurements of $D^0$ production and elliptic flow ($v_2$) via topological reconstruction using STAR's recently instal…
At RHIC, enhancements in the baryon-to-meson ratio for light hadrons and hadrons containing strange quarks have been observed in central heavy-ion collisions compared to those in p+p and peripheral heavy-ion collisions in the intermediate transverse momentum ($p_T$) range (2 $<$ $p_T$ $<$ 6 GeV/$c$). This can be explained by the hadronization mechanism involving multi-parton coalescence. $Λ_{c}$ is the lightest charmed baryon with mass close to that of $D^0$ meson, and has an extremely short life time (c$τ$$\sim$60 $μ$m). Different models predict different magnitudes of enhancement in the $Λ_{…
We summarize the recent experimental results of heavy favor physics from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in Brookhaven National Lab (BNL) at Long Island, New York, USA.We will discuss the directly reconstructed open charm mesons as well as electrons from heavy favor hadron decays. The charm and bottom quark production cross-sections have also been measured. We will also discuss JPsi and Upsilon states in p+p and heavy ion collisions. The studies described here were carried out and reported by the STAR and PHENIX collaborations at RHIC.
We propose to construct a heavy flavor tracker for the STAR experiment at RHIC in order to measure the elliptic flow of charmed hadrons in the low pt region and identify B-meson contributions in the region pt > 4 GeV/c. In this talk, we will present the design of the detector in-depth and its expected performance as studied in detailed simulations and analytic calculations. Physics potentials of the detector will also be discussed.
In this paper, recent STAR heavy flavor measurements in proton-proton and heavy-ion collisions are highlighted. We report studies of open charm mesons, reconstructed directly from hadronic decay products, and studies of electrons from semi-leptonic decays of heavy flavor hadrons. We also present J/$ψ$ measurements via the di-electron decay channel at various collision systems and energies. In Au+Au collisions the energy dependence of J/$ψ$ production measured at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 39, 62.4 and 200 GeV is shown. Finally, prospects of heavy flavor measurements with the STAR detector upgrades are …
Heavy flavor (HF) quarks (charm, bottom) are important probes of the medium produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions because they are formed in the early stage and propagate throughout the lifetime of the QGP medium. HF-meson spectra and azimuthal anisotropy ($v_{2}$) measurements have been reported by experiments at RHIC and the LHC, and they suggest strong interactions of HF quarks with the medium. $D^{0}$-hadron correlations on relative pseudorapidity and azimuth ($Δη,Δϕ$) provide a method for disentangling correlation structures on ($Δη,Δϕ$), related to jets and bulk phenomena directl…
Heavy Quarkonium states modifications in relativistic heavy ion collisions have been of great interest since the proposal by Matsui and Satz of J/psi suppression as a signature of Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) formation. Recent studies suggest that the excited states chi_c, psi(2S) and Upsilon(3S) melt sequentially[1,2] and the amount of observed suppression depends on the state and medium conditions. Therefore, this suppression pattern may be used as a probe of the medium temperature. In this work we present preliminary results on the charmonium and bottomnium measurements performed by the STAR ex…
The main focus of the heavy flavor program at RHIC is to investigate the properties of the dense matter produced in heavy-ion collisions by studying its effect on open heavy flavor and quarkonia production. This in turn requires a detailed understanding of their production in elementary p+p collisions so that the dense matter effects can be later unfolded. In this paper, we present the first mid-rapidity cross section measurement of bottomonium at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV with the STAR experiment. We compare our results with perturbative QCD calculations. A brief status on the study of charmonium in…
We present preliminary STAR results of azimuthal correlations between non-photonic electrons and hadrons in AuAu, CuCu and pp at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV. Comparison of the e-h correlations from these colliding systems allows one to study the system-size dependence of heavy quark jet-medium interactions. We also report on the relative charm and bottom contributions to non-photonic electrons extracted from correlations measured in pp collisions. Our results, when combined with $R_{AA}$ measurements of non-photonic electrons, constrain the charm and bottom energy loss in the dense medium.
Charm mesons produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions are expected to be less attenuated (quenched) by the medium than hadrons containing only light quarks, since radiative energy loss of heavy quarks should be reduced by the `dead-cone' effect. We start from a published energy-loss model to derive the quenching for D mesons at the LHC, introducing an approximation of the dead-cone effect and employing a Glauber-based description of the geometry of central Pb-Pb collisions to estimate the in-medium path lengths of c quarks. We show that the exclusive reconstruction of D^0 \to Kπdecays in ALICE a…
We study the production of multi-charmed hadrons by recombination in heavy ion collisions by focusing on the production of $Ξ_{cc}$, $Ξ_{cc}^*$, $Ω_{scc}$, $Ω_{scc}^*$, $Ω_{ccc}$ baryons and X(3872) mesons. Starting from the estimation of yields for those hadrons at chemical freeze-out in both the statistical and coalescence model, we evaluate their transverse momentum distributions at mid-rapidity in the coalescence model. We show that yields of multi-charmed hadrons in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC are large enough, and thereby not only multi-charmed hadrons observed so far, e.g., the…
Heavy quarks are produced through initial hard scatterings and they are affected by the hot and dense medium created in heavy-ion collisions throughout its whole evolution. Due to their heavy mass, charm quarks are expected to thermalize much more slowly than light flavor quarks. The charm quark flow is a unique tool to study the extent of thermalization of the bulk medium dominated by light quarks and gluons. At high $p_T$, D meson azimuthal anisotropy is sensitive to the path length dependence of charm quark energy loss in the medium, which offers new insights into heavy quark energy loss me…

Experiments using heavy ion collisions at ultrarelativistic energies aim to explore the QCD phase transition and map out the QCD phase diagram. A wealth of remarkable results in this field have been reported recently, for example the Upsilon suppression discovered recently. We discuss recent results from the STAR experiment focusing on strangeness, charm and beauty production.
We report the first measurement of $Λ_c^+$ (average of $Λ_c^+$ and $\barΛ_c^-$) baryon production and significantly improved measurement of $D_s^+$ (average of $D_s^+$ and $D_s^-$) meson production, within the rapidity range of $\left|y\right| < 1$ in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 200 GeV from the STAR experiment. The transverse momentum spectra of $Λ_c^+$ and $D_s^+$ as well as their yield ratios to that of $D^0$ meson are also presented and compared to theoretical calculations. Both the $Λ_c^+/D^0$ and $D_s^+/D^0$ ratios are found to be significantly enhanced in Au+Au collisions w…
We study charm production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions by using the Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) transport approach. The initial charm quarks are produced by the Pythia event generator tuned to fit the transverse momentum spectrum and rapidity distribution of charm quarks from Fixed-Order Next-to-Leading Logarithm (FONLL) calculations. The produced charm quarks scatter in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) with the off-shell partons whose masses and widths are given by the Dynamical Quasi-Particle Model (DQPM) which reproduces the lattice QCD equation-of-state in thermal equili…
We present a method for the measurement of parameters of elastic and inelastic interactions of charmonium with hadrons. In this technique, we use femtoscopic analysis of charmonium-hadron correlations at low relative momentum and the Lednicky-Lyuboshitz analytical model to extract the interaction parameters. We argue that such a study is already feasible in the LHCb experiment at the LHC, and we discuss the prospects for studies in the STAR at RHIC and other experiments at the LHC.
Charm quarks, owing to their large mass, are produced predominantly in the initial hard scatterings in heavy-ion collisions, and therefore can be a valuable tool for studying the early time dynamics of these collisions. The rapidity-odd directed flow at mid-rapidity in heavy-ion collisions originates from a tilt in the reaction plane of the thermalized medium caused by the asymmetry between the number of participants from projectile and target nuclei as a function of rapidity. Recently, it has been predicted that the slope of the directed flow at mid-rapidity for $D^0$ mesons, arising from the…
This writeup summarizes recent CMS results on quarkonia measurements in pp, pPb and PbPb collisions at LHC. The excellent muon detection capability of CMS allows measurement of charmonia states at high transverse momentum ($p_T$) while the $Υ$ states can be reconstructed starting at zero $p_T$. The absolute and relative yields of different charmonia and bottomonia states modified in PbPb collisions (over pp collisions) are described. The vertexing capability of CMS enables measurement of B meson energy loss via its decay to J/$ψ$. An overview of these measurements is given. How these measureme…
During the second long shutdown of the LHC in 2018, the ALICE Collaboration plans to install an upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System (ITS) in the central barrel with seven layers of silicon detectors starting at 2.2 cm radial distance from the interaction region and a material budget as low as 0.3% radiation length per layer. A single-hit resolution of $\mathrm{4 μm}$ and a readout rate capability of up to 50 kHz in Pb--Pb collisions will allow new and unique measurements in the heavy-quark sector, i.e. charm and beauty. Using detailed Monte Carlo simulations of pp and Pb--Pb collisions …
We present the energy-dependent study of dielectron production in 0-80% minimum-bias Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ energies of 19.6, 27, 39, and 62.4 GeV in STAR. Invariant mass ($M_{ee}$) and transverse momentum ($p_T$) differential measurements of dielectron yields are compared to cocktail simulations of known hadronic sources and semi-leptonic charmed decays. The enhancement (excess yield) prominent in the Low-Mass Region (LMR) over the cocktail at all energies, is further compared to calculations of $ρ$ in-medium modifications. Within statistical and systematic uncertainties, we find…

The measurements of non-photonic electrons (NPE), mainly produced by semileptonic decays of D and B mesons, provide information on heavy quarks production as well as properties of nuclear matter produced in heavy ion collisons. In order to interpret the NPE measurements it is important to determine the relative charm and bottom contribution to the NPE spectrum. In this proceedings we present the measurements of NPE spectra and NPE-hadron azimuthal correlations in p+p collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=200 GeV and at $\sqrt{s}$=500 GeV. NPE-hadron correlations allow extraction of the B decay contribution…
We present the first measurement of the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$ and elliptic flow $v_{2}$ of $D_{s}$ in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV with the STAR detector. These results have been compared with those of other open charm mesons and strange mesons to determine how the (possibly) strangeness equilibrated partonic matter affects the $D_{s}$ meson production. We find that the nuclear modification factor of $D_{S}$ are systematically higher than unity and $D^{0}$ $R_{\rm{AA}}$. The ratio $D_{s}/D^{0}$ is shown as a function of transverse momentum for the 10-40$\%$ most…
