Considering the gluon condensate corrections, the form factors relevant to the semileptonic rare $B_c \rar D,D_s(J^{P}=0^{-}) l^{+}l^{-}$ with $l=τ,μ,e$ and $B_c \rar D,D_s(J^{P}=0^{-})ν\barν$ transitions are calculated in the framework of the three point QCD sum rules. The heavy quark effective theory limit of the form factors are computed. The branching fraction of these decays are also evaluated and compared with the predictions of the relativistic constituent quark model. Analyzing of such type transitions could give useful information about the strong interactions inside the pseudoscalar $D_{s}$ meson and its structure.
An analysis of charm mesons decaying semileptonically via Flavor Changing Neutral Currents is presented. We calculate the Wilson coefficients within the Standard Model. A window in the decay distribution, where physics beyond the Standard Model could be measured is identified. Exemplary, we study effects of leptoquark models.
We study the impact of recent B-factories measurements and upper limit of radiative and semileptonic rare B-decays. We present model independent constraints on the relevant Wilson coefficients and show the impact on the parameter space of some concrete realizations of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.
We study the forward-backward and the CP-violating asymmetries (both time-independent and time-dependent) in rare semileptonic and radiative leptonic B_{d,s}-decays and investigate the sensitivity of these asymmetries to the extensions of the Standard model.
We study the effect of the FCNC mediated $Z$ boson in the rare semileptonic baryonic decays $Λ_b \to Λl^+ l^-$. We consider the model where the standard model fermion sector is extended by an extra vector like down quark, as a consequence of which it allows CP violating Z mediated flavor changing neutral current at the tree level. We find that due to this non-universal $Zbs $ coupling, branching ratios of the rare semileptonic $Λ_b$ decays are enhanced reasonably from their corresponding standard model values and the zero point of the forward backward asymmetry for $Λ_b \to Λμ^+ μ^-$ is shifte…
We compute the complete O(alphas^2) anomalous dimension matrix relevant for the b to s gamma, b to s gluon and b to s l+l- transitions in the standard model and some of its extensions. For radiative decays we confirm the results of Misiak and Munz, and of Chetyrkin, Misiak and Munz. The O(alphas^2) mixing of four-quark into semileptonic operators is instead a new result and represents one of the last missing ingredients of the next-to-next-to-leading-order analysis of rare semileptonic B meson decays.
We analyze the rare semileptonic $B_s \to (η, η') l^+ l^-$, $(l=e, μ, τ)$ and $B_s \to (η, η') ν\barν$ transitions probing the $\bar s s$ content of the $η$ and $η'$ mesons via three--point QCD sum rules. We calculate responsible form factors for these transitions in full theory. Using the obtained form factors, we also estimate the related branching fractions and longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetries. Our results are in a good consistency with the predictions of the other existing nonperturbative approaches.
We present the first complete results for the semileptonic and rare radiative form factors of B-mesons weak decay into a light vector-meson (rho, omega, K*, phi) in the light-cone sum-rule approach. The calculation includes radiative corrections, higher-twist corrections and SU(3)-breaking effects. The theoretical uncertainty is investigated in detail. A simple parametrization of the form factors is given in terms of three parameters each. We find that the form factors observe several relations inspired by heavy-quark symmetry.
Rare flavour-changing neutral-current transitions of the type $s \to d \ell^+\ell^-(ν\barν)$ and $b \to s \ell^+\ell^-(ν\barν)$ are analysed in supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model with generic flavour couplings. It is shown that these processes are particularly sensitive to the left--right mixing of the squarks and that, in the presence of non-universal $A$ terms, they could lead to unambiguous signatures of new physics in exclusive $K$ and $B$ meson decays.
In the framework of a QCD relativistic potential model we evaluate the form factors describing the exclusive decays B => πl nu and B => K l+ l-. The present calculation extends a previous analysis of B meson decays into light vector mesons. We find results in agreement with the data, when available, and with the theoretical constraints imposed by the Callan-Treiman relation and the infinite heavy quark mass limit.
We discuss rare meson decays $K^ + \to π^ - \ell ^ + \ell '^ + $ and $D^ + \to K^ - \ell ^ + \ell '^ +$ ($\ell, \ell'=e, μ$) in a supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with R-parity violation. Estimates of the branching ratios for these decays are presented.
We investigate the consequence of vector leptoquarks on the rare semileptonic lepton flavour violating decays of $B$ meson which are more promising and effective channels to probe the new physics signal. We constrain the resulting new leptoquark parameter space by using the branching ratios of $B_{s, d} \to l^+ l^-$, $K_L \to l^+ l^-$ and $τ^- \to l^- γ$ processes. We estimate the branching ratios of rare lepton flavour violating $B \to K(π)l_i^- l_j^+$ processes using the constrained leptoquark couplings. We also compute the forward-backward asymmetries and the lepton non-universality paramet…
We summarize recent progress in the theory of exclusive rare and semileptonic B decays, focusing on model-independent results. The heavy-to-light form factors parameterizing these decays admit a model-independent description in two distinct kinematical regions. In the large-energy limit of an energetic light meson, the Soft-Collinear Effective Theory can be used to prove factorization formulas for the form factors. We present factorization formulas for all B-> P,V form factors at leading order in Lambda/m_b. Near the zero-recoil point, Heavy Quark Effective Theory gives useful relations among …
I review the phenomenology of exclusive Bbar -> Kbar pi l^+ l^- decays, with focus on the intermediate resonant Kbar^*(892) mode. The status of angular observables at both ends of the dilepton mass spectrum is revisited. Constraints on the b -> s Wilson coefficients C_7,C_9,C_10 based on 2011 data from the B factories, CDF and LHCb are presented.
The possibility to test the unitarity triangle of CKM matrix is examined by using the semileptonic rare $B$ decays, $B \rightarrow X_q \, ł^+ \, ł^-$ with $q = d, s$ and $ł$'s are leptons. The discussion is emphasized on the CP asymmetry in the framework of standard and beyond the standard models. For the beyond standard model, a minimal extension of the standard model containing an additional isosinglet charge (-1/3) charge quark, which leads to a deviation from CKM unitarity, is considered. As the results, in the standard model the CP asymmetry is visible only for $B \rightarrow X_d \, ł^+ \…
In this paper, we analyze different decay observables of semileptonic $ B_c$ decays into $(D_(s,d)^((*)))μ^+ μ^-$ such as branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry, polarization fraction and lepton polarization asymmetry in the non-universal Z' model. We have also studied the dependence of branching fraction to the new model parameters. Here, we have found that the values of different decay parameters increase in the Z' model, which provides a possible way out for the search of new physics as well as the unknown phenomena of charm B meson.
From the experimental branching ratios for $B^- --> ρ^0 l^-\barν_l$ and $D^+ --> {\overl K}^{*0}({\overl K}^0) e^+ ν_e$ one finds, in the Heavy Quark Limit of $HQET$, $ |V_{bu}|=(8.1\pm 1.7) x 10^{-3}$, larger but consistent with the actual quoted range $(2 - 7) x 10^{-3}$. In the same framework one predicts for $R(B --> K^*γ)=( 2 \pm 2 ) 10^{-2}$.
In this paper, we calculate the decay rates of $D^+ \to D^0 e^+ ν$, $D^+_S \to D^0 e^+ ν$, $B^0_S \to B^+ e^- \barν$, $D^+_S \to D^+ e^- e^+$ and $B^0_S \to B^0 e^-e^+$ semileptonic decay processes, in which only the light quarks decay, while the heavy flavors remain unchanged. The branching ratios of these decay processes are calculated with the flavor SU(3) symmetry. The uncertainties are estimated by considering the SU(3) breaking effect. We find that the decay rates are very tiny in the framework of the Standard Model. We also estimate the sensitivities of the measurements of these rare de…
We study long-distance effects in rare exclusive semileptonic decays B -> (K, K*) (l+ l-, nu bar{nu}) and analyze dilepton spectra and asymmetries within the framework of the Standard Model. The form factors, describing the meson transition amplitudes of the effective Hamiltonian are calculated within the lattice-constrained dispersion quark model: the form factors are given by dispersion representations through the wave functions of the initial and final mesons, and these wave functions are chosen such that the B -> K* transition form factors agree with the lattice results at large q**2. We c…
We study the effect of scalar leptoquarks on the exclusive rare $B$ meson decays $\bar{B}_d^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^{* 0}\left(\rightarrow K^-π^+\right) l^+ l^-$ in the full kinematically accessible physical region. We work out the constraints on leptoquark parameter space using the measured branching ratio of $B_s \rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ process by the CMS and LHCb collaborations. We compute the branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry and isospin asymmetry distribution using the constrained parameter space. We also look into various form factor independent and CP violating observables in the s…
The exclusive rare decay $B \ra K^\ast γ$ takes place in a region of maximum recoil, $q^{2}=0$, posing a problem for nonrelativistic quark models which are usually thought to be most reliable at zero recoil. The Bauer--Stech--Wirbel (BSW) model, formulated in the infinite--momentum--frame (IMF) formalism, is designed to work at $q^2=0$. We show in this model that the ratio relating the decay $B \ra K^\ast γ$ and the $q^2$--spectrum of the semileptonic decay $B\ra ρe {\bar ν}$, becomes independent of the wave function in the SU(3) flavor symmetry limit. We show that this feature is also true in…
We study the exclusive semileptonic rare $B_c^+ \to D^+ ν\barν$ decay in the framework of light-cone quark model. The transition form factors $f_{+}(q^2)$ and $f_{T}(q^2)$ are evaluated in the time-like region using the analytic continuation method in $q^{+} = 0$ frame. The analytic solutions of these form factors are compared with the results obtained from the double pole parametric form. The branching ratio for $B_c^+ \to D^+ ν\barν$ decay is calculated and compared with the other theoretical model predictions. The predicted results in this model can be tested at the LHCb experiments in near…
Using newly available form factors obtained from light cone QCD sum rules in full theory, we study the flavor changing neutral current transition of $Σ_b \rar Σμ^+ μ^-$ decay in the family non-universal $Z^\prime$ model. In particular, we evaluate the differential branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry as well as some related asymmetry parameters and polarizations. We compare the obtained results with the predictions of the standard model and discuss the sensitivity of the observables under consideration to family non-universal $Z^\prime$ gauge boson. The order of differential branching r…
We study the effect of new flavor changing SUSY phases arising in the squark mass matrix in semileptonic decays B->Xs ll and B->K(*) ll (l=e,mu). SUSY effects are parametrized using the mass insertion approximation formalism. Constraints on SUSY contributions coming from other processes (e.g. b->s gamma, B->K* ll) are taken into account. Chargino and gluino contributions to photon and Z-mediated decays are included and non-perturbative corrections are considered. We study the correlation between the CP (and forward--backward) asymmetries and the expected value of the inclusive branching ratio.…
We update the standard model predictions for the branching ratios of the decays B -> (K,K*,Xs) l^+ l^-, with l=e,mu. Using the measurements of BR(B -> Xs gamma) and BR(B -> K l^+ l^-) as well as the upper limits on BR(B -> (K*,Xs) l^+ l^-)$, we work out model independent bounds on the relevant Wilson coefficients. We show the impact of such bounds on the parameter space of the MSSM with minimal flavour violation and of supersymmetric models with additional sources of flavour changing.
The light front wavefunction obtained from anti-de Sitter Quantum Chromodynamics is used to calculate the light cone distribution amplitudes for $ρ$ and $K^*$ vector mesons. These distribution amplitudes are then utilized to calculate the $B \to ρ,\; K^*$ transition form factors via light cone sum rules. Two-parameter fits of our results for low to intermediate momentum transfer $q^2$ that includes the QCD lattice data at high $q^2$ are presented. Consequently, we give predictions for the semileptoic $B \to ρ\ell ν$ and dileptonic $B \to K^* μ^+ μ^-$ decays.
We investigate the exclusive semileptonic and rare $D\to π(K)$ decays within the standard model together with the light-front quark model (LFQM) constrained by the variational principle for the QCD-motivated effective Hamiltonian. The form factors are obtained in the $q^+=0$ frame and then analytically continue to the physical timelike region. Together with our recent analysis of the current-component independent form factors $f_\pm(q^2)$ for the semileptonic decays, we present the current-component independent tensor form factor $f_T(q^2)$ for the rare decays to make the complete set of hadro…
Motivated by the recent observation of lepton universality violation in the flavour changing charged current transitions $b \to c l \barν_l$, we intend to scrutinize the lepton non-universality effects in rare semileptonic $B$ meson decays involving the quark level transitions $b \to u l \barν_l$. In this regard, we envisage the model-independent approach and consider the generalized effective Lagrangian in the presence of new physics and constrain the new parameters by using the experimental branching fractions of $B_u^+ \to l^+ ν_l$ and $B^- \to π^0 μ^- \bar ν_μ$ processes, where $l=e, μ, τ$…
We show that the exclusive decay $B\rightarrow K^{\ast}γ$ can be related to the semileptonic decay $B\rightarrowρe\barν$ using heavy-quark symmetry and $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry. A direct measurement of the $q^{2}$-spectrum for the semileptonic decay can provide relevant information for the exclusive rare decay.
Using a QCD relativistic potential model, previously applied to the calculation of the heavy meson leptonic constants, we evaluate the form factors governing the exclusive decays $B\toρ\ellν$, $B\to K^*γ$ and $B\to K^*\ell^+\ell^-$. In our approach the heavy meson is described as a $Q\bar q$ bound state, whose wave function is solution of the relativistic Salpeter equation, with an instantaneous potential displaying Coulombic behaviour at small distances and linear behaviour at large distances. The light vector meson is described by using a vector current interpolating field, according to the …
We review some selected rare B decays calculated in next-to-leading order accuracy in the Standard Model (SM). These include the radiative decays $B \to (X_s,K^*,ρ)γ$ and the semileptonic decays $B \to (X_s,K,K^*) \ell^+ \ell^-$, for which new data from the BABAR and BELLE collaborations have been presented at this conference. SM is in agreement with the current measurements within the theoretical and experimental errors. The impact of rare B-decays on the CKM phenomenology is quantitatively discussed.
The invariant mass spectrum, forward-backward asymmetry, and lepton polarizations of the exclusive processes $B\to K(K^*)\ell^+ \ell^-, \ell=μ, τ$ are analyzed under supersymmetric context. Special attention is paid to the effects of neutral Higgs bosons (NHBs). Our analysis shows that the branching ratio of the process $\bkm$ can be quite largely modified by the effects of neutral Higgs bosons and the forward-backward asymmetry would not vanish. For the process $\bksm$, the lepton transverse polarization is quite sensitive to the effects of NHBs, while the invariant mass spectrum, forward-bac…
We provide new values for the model parameters of the covariant constituent quark model (with built--in infrared confinement) in the meson sector by a fit to the leptonic decay constants and a number of electromagnetic decays. We then evaluate, in a parameter free way, the form factors of the $B(B_s)\to P(V)$-transitions in the full kinematical region of momentum transfer. As an application of our results we calculate the widths of the nonleptonic $B_s$-decays into $D_s^- D_s^+,$ $D_s^{\ast\,-} D_s^{+}+D_s^- D_s^{\ast\,+}$ and $D_s^{\ast\,-} D_s^{\ast\,+}$. These modes give the largest contrib…
I discuss recent progress in our understanding of exclusive rare and semileptonic decays. I show the impact of HQET when combined with the predictions in the Large Energy Limit of QCD, focusing first on applications to $B\to K^*\ell^+\ell^+$. I also discuss the constraints on semileptonic form-factors that appear in HQET/LEET with the use of radiative decay data, and update these to include the effects of next-to-leading order contributions in $B\to K^*γ$, as well as the latest data.
Efforts to predict the rare exclusive decay $B\to K^{\ast}γ$ from the well known inclusive decay $b\to sγ$ are frustrated by the effect of the large recoil momentum. We show how to reduce the large uncertainty in calculating this decay by relating $B\to K^{\ast}γ$ to the semileptonic process $B\toρe\barν$ using the heavy-quark symmetry in B decays and SU(3) flavor symmetry. A direct measurement of the $q^{2}$-spectrum for the semileptonic decay can provide accurate information for the exclusive rare decay.
We calculate the leading power corrections to the decay rates, distributions and hadronic spectral moments in rare inclusive \bxsll decays in the standard model, using heavy quark expansion (HQE) in $(1/m_b)$ and a phenomenological model implementing the Fermi motion effects of the b-quark bound in the B-hadron. We include next-to-leading order perturbative QCD corrections and work out the dependences of the spectra, decay rates and hadronic moments on the model parameters in either HQE and the Fermi motion model. In the latter, we take into account long-distance effects via $B \to X_s +(J/ψ, …
Rare semileptonic decays of B and B_c mesons are investigated in the framework of the QCD-motivated relativistic quark model based on the quasipotential approach. Form factors parametrizing the matrix elements of the weak transitions between corresponding meson states are calculated with the complete account of the relativistic effects including contributions of intermediate negative energy states and relativistic transformations of the meson wave functions. The momentum transfer dependence of the form factors is reliably determined in the whole accessible kinematical range. On this basis the …
In the SUSY SO(10) GUT context, we study the exclusive processes $B \to K^{(*)} l^+l^-(l=μ,τ)$. Using the Wilson coefficients of relevant operators including the new operators $Q_{1,2}^{(\prime)}$ which are induced by neutral Higgs boson (NHB) penguins, we evaluate some possible observables associated with these processes like, the invariant mass spectrum (IMS), lepton pair forward backward asymmetry (FBA), lepton polarization asymmetries etc. In this model the contributions from Wilson coefficients $C_{Q_{1,2}}^\prime$, among new contributions, are dominant. Our results show that the NHB effe…
Rare B meson decays mediated by flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) transition play interesting role to probe the flavour sector of the standard model (SM). Generally at the tree level, FCNC processes are not allowed in the SM but occurs at the loop levels. This gives an excellent hunting ground for new physics (NP). From various experimental studies it is found that the FCNC processes having quark level transition $b \to s$ are challenging. Here, we investigate different kinematic observables like forward-backward asymmetry, differential branching ratio and lepton polarization asymmetry f…
A model-independent analysis for the exclusive, rare B -> pi^+ pi^- l^+ l^- decay is presented. The dependence of the various physically measurable asymmetries and CP violating asymmetry on the new Wilson coefficients is studied in detail. It is observed that different measurable quantiles are very sensitive to the different new Wilson coefficients, i.e., to the existence of new physics beyond standard model.
Recent LHCb measurements show small discrepancies with respect to the Standard Model (SM) predictions in selected angular distributions of the mode $B^0 \to K^{*0} μ^+ μ^-$. The possibility of explaining such tensions within theories beyond the SM crucially depends on the size of the deviations of the Wilson coefficients of the effective Hamiltonian for this mode, in comparison to their SM values. We analyse this issue in the framework of the Randall Sundrum model with custodial protection (RS$_c$); in our study we also consider the mode with $τ$ leptons in the final state. We discuss the smal…
We study the scalar leptoquark effects on the rare semileptonic decays of $Λ_b$ baryon, governed by the quark level transition $b \to s l^+ l^-$. We estimate the branching ratios, forward-backward asymmetries, lepton polarization parameters and the lepton flavour non-universality effects in these decay channels. We find significant deviations from the corresponding standard model predictions in some of the observables due to leptoquark effects. We also investigate the lepton flavour violating decays $Λ_b \to Λl_i^- l_j^+$, the branching ratios of which are found to be ${\cal O}(10^{-10} - 10^{…
We conduct a systematic study of the impact of new physics in quark-level $b \to c \bar{c} s$ transitions on $B$-physics, in particular rare $B$-decays and $B$-meson lifetime observables. We find viable scenarios where a sizable effect in rare semileptonic $B$-decays can be generated, compatible with experimental indications and with a possible dependence on the dilepton invariant mass, while being consistent with constraints from radiative $B$-decay and the measured $B_s$ width difference. We show how, if the effect is generated at the weak scale or beyond, strong renormalisation-group effect…
We have carried out phenomenological implication of R-parity violating ($\NEG% {R}_{p}$) Minimal Supersymmetric Model (MSSM) via analyses of pure leptonic($% M\rightarrow ν\barν$) and semileptonic decays of pseudo-scalar mesons(% $M\rightarrow Xν\barν$). These analyses involve prediction of branching fraction of pure leptonic decays by using experimental limits/bounds derived from the study of semileptonic decays on $\NEG{R}_{p}$ parameters. We have found, in general that $\NEG{R}_{p}$ contribution dominates over the SM contribution i.e., by a factor of $10^{2}$ for the semleptonic decays of $…
Rare radiative, leptonic and semileptonic B meson decays are valuable probes of physics beyond the Standard Model. This talk reviews the sensitivity to new physics of observables related to two rare B decays to be measured in the near future at LHC, B(s) -> mu+ mu- and B -> K* mu+ mu-.
The decay width of the rare decay Z \to ν\barνγγis strictly constrained from the LEP data. Tensor unparticles provide a tree-level contribution to this rare decay. We have calculated the tensor unparticle contribution to the rare decay Z\to ν\barνγγ. The current experimental limit have been used to constrain unparticle couplings ν\barνZ {U}^{μν} and γγ{U}^{μν}.
The following proceedings contain a theory perspective on rare Kaon decays. I review rare kaon decays in the LHC era: we discuss interplay with B-anomalies and possible New Physics in direct CP violation in $K\to 2π$: very rare kaon decays like $K \to πν\barν$ are very important to this purpose. We discuss also the decays $K^0 \to μ^+ μ^-$ due to the LHCB measurement
Rare decays provide a complementary window to direct collider searches as probes of physics beyond the Standard Model. We present an overview of the New Physics sensitivity provided by existing and future measurements of rare leptonic and semileptonic $K$ decays within the context of several classes of models.
We present a brief overview of rare K decays, emphasizing the different role of Standard Model and possible New Physics contributions in various channels.
Some semileptonic weak decays of vector mesons are considered in the framework of the most popular quark models. The predicted branching ratios are unfortunately too small to make a study of these decays realistic at meson factories under construction.
The rare K and B semileptonic decays into neutrino pairs are well-known to be extremely sensitive to non-standard physics in the quark sector. In this talk, their capabilities to signal New Physics in the leptonic sector, or even to reveal entirely new invisible sectors, are analyzed.
I review recent developments in rare and radiative kaon decays from the theory side, with emphasis on those modes that are actively analyzed by the experimental collaborations.
In the ratio of ratios of rates for radiative and semileptonic decays of B and D to K* and rho mesons the non-computable form factors mostly cancel out. The resulting method for the determination of Vub is largely free of hadronic uncertainties, raising the prospect of a precise determination of Vub.
Theoretical predictions for the top quark rare decays are reviewed within and beyond the standard model. Expectations at the CERN Large Hadron Collider are discussed.
