In this paper, we calculate the decay rates of $D^+ \to D^0 e^+ ν$, $D^+_S \to D^0 e^+ ν$, $B^0_S \to B^+ e^- \barν$, $D^+_S \to D^+ e^- e^+$ and $B^0_S \to B^0 e^-e^+$ semileptonic decay processes, in which only the light quarks decay, while the heavy flavors remain unchanged. The branching ratios of these decay processes are calculated with the flavor SU(3) symmetry. The uncertainties are estimated by considering the SU(3) breaking effect. We find that the decay rates are very tiny in the framework of the Standard Model. We also estimate the sensitivities of the measurements of these rare decays at the future experiments, such as BES-III, super-$B$ and LHC-$b$.
An analysis of charm mesons decaying semileptonically via Flavor Changing Neutral Currents is presented. We calculate the Wilson coefficients within the Standard Model. A window in the decay distribution, where physics beyond the Standard Model could be measured is identified. Exemplary, we study effects of leptoquark models.
We study the impact of recent B-factories measurements and upper limit of radiative and semileptonic rare B-decays. We present model independent constraints on the relevant Wilson coefficients and show the impact on the parameter space of some concrete realizations of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.
We study the forward-backward and the CP-violating asymmetries (both time-independent and time-dependent) in rare semileptonic and radiative leptonic B_{d,s}-decays and investigate the sensitivity of these asymmetries to the extensions of the Standard model.
Motivated by the recent hints of lepton flavor universality violation observed in semileptonic $B$ decays, we analyze how to test flavor and helicity structures of the corresponding amplitudes in view of future data. We show that the general assumption that such non-standard effects are controlled by a $U(2)_q \times U(2)_\ell$ flavor symmetry, minimally broken as in the Standard Model Yukawa sector, leads to stringent predictions on leptonic and semileptonic $B$ decays. Future measurements of $R_{D^{(*)}}$, $R_{K^{(*)}}$, ${\mathcal B}(\bar B_{c,u}\to \ell \bar ν)$, ${\mathcal B}(\bar B \to π…
We study the effect of the FCNC mediated $Z$ boson in the rare semileptonic baryonic decays $Λ_b \to Λl^+ l^-$. We consider the model where the standard model fermion sector is extended by an extra vector like down quark, as a consequence of which it allows CP violating Z mediated flavor changing neutral current at the tree level. We find that due to this non-universal $Zbs $ coupling, branching ratios of the rare semileptonic $Λ_b$ decays are enhanced reasonably from their corresponding standard model values and the zero point of the forward backward asymmetry for $Λ_b \to Λμ^+ μ^-$ is shifte…
We compute the complete O(alphas^2) anomalous dimension matrix relevant for the b to s gamma, b to s gluon and b to s l+l- transitions in the standard model and some of its extensions. For radiative decays we confirm the results of Misiak and Munz, and of Chetyrkin, Misiak and Munz. The O(alphas^2) mixing of four-quark into semileptonic operators is instead a new result and represents one of the last missing ingredients of the next-to-next-to-leading-order analysis of rare semileptonic B meson decays.
We analyze the rare semileptonic $B_s \to (η, η') l^+ l^-$, $(l=e, μ, τ)$ and $B_s \to (η, η') ν\barν$ transitions probing the $\bar s s$ content of the $η$ and $η'$ mesons via three--point QCD sum rules. We calculate responsible form factors for these transitions in full theory. Using the obtained form factors, we also estimate the related branching fractions and longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetries. Our results are in a good consistency with the predictions of the other existing nonperturbative approaches.
We present the first complete results for the semileptonic and rare radiative form factors of B-mesons weak decay into a light vector-meson (rho, omega, K*, phi) in the light-cone sum-rule approach. The calculation includes radiative corrections, higher-twist corrections and SU(3)-breaking effects. The theoretical uncertainty is investigated in detail. A simple parametrization of the form factors is given in terms of three parameters each. We find that the form factors observe several relations inspired by heavy-quark symmetry.
We consider the small velocity sum rules for heavy flavour semileptonic transitions that are used to estimate the zero recoil values of semileptonic heavy flavour form factors. We analyze the complete O($α_S$) radiative correction to these sum rules. The corrections are universal and influence all "model-independent" bounds previously derived for semileptonic form factors at zero recoil.
The contributions of the neutral top-pion $π_{t}^{0}$ and the non-universal gauge boson $Z'$ predicted by topcolor scenario to the lepton flavor violating $(LFV)$ semileptonic $τ$ decays $τ\to lP(V)$ $(P=π^{0}, η, η' $ and $ V=ρ^{0}, ϕ)$ are discussed. We find that the contributions of $Z'$ to these decay processes are generally larger than those from $π_{t}^{0}$. $π_{t}^{0}$ can only make the value of the branching ratio $Br(τ\to lP)$ in the range of 1$\times10^{-11}$ $\sim$ 1$\times10^{-16}$, which is far below the sensitivity of foreseeable experiments. With reasonable values of the free pa…
Rare flavour-changing neutral-current transitions of the type $s \to d \ell^+\ell^-(ν\barν)$ and $b \to s \ell^+\ell^-(ν\barν)$ are analysed in supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model with generic flavour couplings. It is shown that these processes are particularly sensitive to the left--right mixing of the squarks and that, in the presence of non-universal $A$ terms, they could lead to unambiguous signatures of new physics in exclusive $K$ and $B$ meson decays.
In the framework of a QCD relativistic potential model we evaluate the form factors describing the exclusive decays B => πl nu and B => K l+ l-. The present calculation extends a previous analysis of B meson decays into light vector mesons. We find results in agreement with the data, when available, and with the theoretical constraints imposed by the Callan-Treiman relation and the infinite heavy quark mass limit.
We discuss rare meson decays $K^ + \to π^ - \ell ^ + \ell '^ + $ and $D^ + \to K^ - \ell ^ + \ell '^ +$ ($\ell, \ell'=e, μ$) in a supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with R-parity violation. Estimates of the branching ratios for these decays are presented.
We study the success to describe hyperon semileptonic decays of four models that incorporate second-order SU(3) symmetry breaking corrections. The criteria to assess their success is by determining V_{us} in each of the three relevant hyperon semileptonic decays and comparing the values obtained with one another and also with the one that comes from K_{l3} decays. A strong dependence on the particular symmetry breaking model is observed. Values of V_{us} which do not agree with the one of K_{l3} are generally obtained. However, in the context of chiral perturbation theory, only the model whose…
We investigate the consequence of vector leptoquarks on the rare semileptonic lepton flavour violating decays of $B$ meson which are more promising and effective channels to probe the new physics signal. We constrain the resulting new leptoquark parameter space by using the branching ratios of $B_{s, d} \to l^+ l^-$, $K_L \to l^+ l^-$ and $τ^- \to l^- γ$ processes. We estimate the branching ratios of rare lepton flavour violating $B \to K(π)l_i^- l_j^+$ processes using the constrained leptoquark couplings. We also compute the forward-backward asymmetries and the lepton non-universality paramet…
Considering the gluon condensate corrections, the form factors relevant to the semileptonic rare $B_c \rar D,D_s(J^{P}=0^{-}) l^{+}l^{-}$ with $l=τ,μ,e$ and $B_c \rar D,D_s(J^{P}=0^{-})ν\barν$ transitions are calculated in the framework of the three point QCD sum rules. The heavy quark effective theory limit of the form factors are computed. The branching fraction of these decays are also evaluated and compared with the predictions of the relativistic constituent quark model. Analyzing of such type transitions could give useful information about the strong interactions inside the pseudoscalar …
We summarize recent progress in the theory of exclusive rare and semileptonic B decays, focusing on model-independent results. The heavy-to-light form factors parameterizing these decays admit a model-independent description in two distinct kinematical regions. In the large-energy limit of an energetic light meson, the Soft-Collinear Effective Theory can be used to prove factorization formulas for the form factors. We present factorization formulas for all B-> P,V form factors at leading order in Lambda/m_b. Near the zero-recoil point, Heavy Quark Effective Theory gives useful relations among …
I review the phenomenology of exclusive Bbar -> Kbar pi l^+ l^- decays, with focus on the intermediate resonant Kbar^*(892) mode. The status of angular observables at both ends of the dilepton mass spectrum is revisited. Constraints on the b -> s Wilson coefficients C_7,C_9,C_10 based on 2011 data from the B factories, CDF and LHCb are presented.
The possibility to test the unitarity triangle of CKM matrix is examined by using the semileptonic rare $B$ decays, $B \rightarrow X_q \, ł^+ \, ł^-$ with $q = d, s$ and $ł$'s are leptons. The discussion is emphasized on the CP asymmetry in the framework of standard and beyond the standard models. For the beyond standard model, a minimal extension of the standard model containing an additional isosinglet charge (-1/3) charge quark, which leads to a deviation from CKM unitarity, is considered. As the results, in the standard model the CP asymmetry is visible only for $B \rightarrow X_d \, ł^+ \…
In this paper, we analyze different decay observables of semileptonic $ B_c$ decays into $(D_(s,d)^((*)))μ^+ μ^-$ such as branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry, polarization fraction and lepton polarization asymmetry in the non-universal Z' model. We have also studied the dependence of branching fraction to the new model parameters. Here, we have found that the values of different decay parameters increase in the Z' model, which provides a possible way out for the search of new physics as well as the unknown phenomena of charm B meson.
From the experimental branching ratios for $B^- --> ρ^0 l^-\barν_l$ and $D^+ --> {\overl K}^{*0}({\overl K}^0) e^+ ν_e$ one finds, in the Heavy Quark Limit of $HQET$, $ |V_{bu}|=(8.1\pm 1.7) x 10^{-3}$, larger but consistent with the actual quoted range $(2 - 7) x 10^{-3}$. In the same framework one predicts for $R(B --> K^*γ)=( 2 \pm 2 ) 10^{-2}$.
A model independent approach based on a generalization of the operator product expansion is used to describe semileptonic decays of heavy flavors. In the first part of the dissertation we calculate differential distributions in the inclusive semileptonic weak decays of heavy flavors in QCD. In particular, the double distribution in electron energy and invariant mass of the lepton pair is calculated. The distributions are calculated as series in $m_Q^{-1}$ where $m_Q$ is the heavy quark mass. All effects up to $m_Q^{-2}$ are included. Also calculated are the energy distribution and semileptonic…
We study long-distance effects in rare exclusive semileptonic decays B -> (K, K*) (l+ l-, nu bar{nu}) and analyze dilepton spectra and asymmetries within the framework of the Standard Model. The form factors, describing the meson transition amplitudes of the effective Hamiltonian are calculated within the lattice-constrained dispersion quark model: the form factors are given by dispersion representations through the wave functions of the initial and final mesons, and these wave functions are chosen such that the B -> K* transition form factors agree with the lattice results at large q**2. We c…
We study the effect of scalar leptoquarks on the exclusive rare $B$ meson decays $\bar{B}_d^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^{* 0}\left(\rightarrow K^-π^+\right) l^+ l^-$ in the full kinematically accessible physical region. We work out the constraints on leptoquark parameter space using the measured branching ratio of $B_s \rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ process by the CMS and LHCb collaborations. We compute the branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry and isospin asymmetry distribution using the constrained parameter space. We also look into various form factor independent and CP violating observables in the s…
The exclusive rare decay $B \ra K^\ast γ$ takes place in a region of maximum recoil, $q^{2}=0$, posing a problem for nonrelativistic quark models which are usually thought to be most reliable at zero recoil. The Bauer--Stech--Wirbel (BSW) model, formulated in the infinite--momentum--frame (IMF) formalism, is designed to work at $q^2=0$. We show in this model that the ratio relating the decay $B \ra K^\ast γ$ and the $q^2$--spectrum of the semileptonic decay $B\ra ρe {\bar ν}$, becomes independent of the wave function in the SU(3) flavor symmetry limit. We show that this feature is also true in…
We study the exclusive semileptonic rare $B_c^+ \to D^+ ν\barν$ decay in the framework of light-cone quark model. The transition form factors $f_{+}(q^2)$ and $f_{T}(q^2)$ are evaluated in the time-like region using the analytic continuation method in $q^{+} = 0$ frame. The analytic solutions of these form factors are compared with the results obtained from the double pole parametric form. The branching ratio for $B_c^+ \to D^+ ν\barν$ decay is calculated and compared with the other theoretical model predictions. The predicted results in this model can be tested at the LHCb experiments in near…
(Contribution to Proceedings of the Seventh International Symposium On Heavy Flavor Physics, July 7-11, 1997, Santa Barbara.) Theoretical approaches to form factors of semileptonic decays are discussed in application to $B \ra D + l+\bar ν_l$ decay.
Assuming the ${\bar D}^0, D^-, D^-_s$ and $B^+, B^0, B_s^0$ mesons belong to triplets of SU(3) flavor symmetry, we analyse the form factors in the semileptonic decays of these mesons. Both quark and meson mass differences are taken into account. We find a number of relations, in agreement with the present data as well as with previous analyses, and predict certain ratios of form factors, not yet measured, most notably the D meson decay constant $f_D = 209 \pm 39$ MeV.
We study the effect of new flavor changing SUSY phases arising in the squark mass matrix in semileptonic decays B->Xs ll and B->K(*) ll (l=e,mu). SUSY effects are parametrized using the mass insertion approximation formalism. Constraints on SUSY contributions coming from other processes (e.g. b->s gamma, B->K* ll) are taken into account. Chargino and gluino contributions to photon and Z-mediated decays are included and non-perturbative corrections are considered. We study the correlation between the CP (and forward--backward) asymmetries and the expected value of the inclusive branching ratio.…
We update the standard model predictions for the branching ratios of the decays B -> (K,K*,Xs) l^+ l^-, with l=e,mu. Using the measurements of BR(B -> Xs gamma) and BR(B -> K l^+ l^-) as well as the upper limits on BR(B -> (K*,Xs) l^+ l^-)$, we work out model independent bounds on the relevant Wilson coefficients. We show the impact of such bounds on the parameter space of the MSSM with minimal flavour violation and of supersymmetric models with additional sources of flavour changing.
We present a detailed analysis of exclusive semileptonic decays of Bc meson involving pseudoscalar and vector mesons in the BSW framework, by investigating the effects of the flavor dependence on the average transverse quark momentum inside a meson. Branching ratios of exclusive semileptonic decays of Bc meson are predicted.
The light front wavefunction obtained from anti-de Sitter Quantum Chromodynamics is used to calculate the light cone distribution amplitudes for $ρ$ and $K^*$ vector mesons. These distribution amplitudes are then utilized to calculate the $B \to ρ,\; K^*$ transition form factors via light cone sum rules. Two-parameter fits of our results for low to intermediate momentum transfer $q^2$ that includes the QCD lattice data at high $q^2$ are presented. Consequently, we give predictions for the semileptoic $B \to ρ\ell ν$ and dileptonic $B \to K^* μ^+ μ^-$ decays.
We investigate the exclusive semileptonic and rare $D\to π(K)$ decays within the standard model together with the light-front quark model (LFQM) constrained by the variational principle for the QCD-motivated effective Hamiltonian. The form factors are obtained in the $q^+=0$ frame and then analytically continue to the physical timelike region. Together with our recent analysis of the current-component independent form factors $f_\pm(q^2)$ for the semileptonic decays, we present the current-component independent tensor form factor $f_T(q^2)$ for the rare decays to make the complete set of hadro…
We investigate the kaon semileptonic decay (K_{l3}) form factors within the framework of the nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum, taking into account the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking. All theoretical calculations are carried out without any adjustable parameter. We also show that the present results satisfy the Callan-Treiman low-energy theorem as well as the Ademollo-Gatto theorem. It turns out that the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking are essential in reproducing the kaon semileptonic form factors. The present results are in a good agreement with exper…
We consider lepton-flavor violation in strangeness changing ($|ΔS|=1$) semileptonic $τ$-lepton decays arising from new physics encoded in a standard model effective Lagrangian. Its invariance under the standard model gauge group entails the relevance of other processes which can serve as complementary probes of the new physics operators. We show in particular that for some of them the bounds implied by current data on the rare kaon decays involving a neutrino pair, $K\to πν\barν$, are stronger than the existing limits from direct searches for lepton-flavor-violating semileptonic $τ$ decays. We…
Deviation from the standard model prediction is observed in many semileptonic $B$ decays mediated via $b \to c$ charged current interactions. In particular, current experimental measurements of the ratio of branching ratio $R_D$ and $R_{D^{\ast}}$ in $B \rightarrow D^{(*)}l ν$ decays disagree with standard model expectations at the level of about $4.1σ$. Moreover, recent measurement of the ratio of branching ratio $R_{J/Ψ}$ by LHCb, where $R_{J/Ψ} = \mathcal B(B_c \to J/Ψ\,τν)/\mathcal B(B_c \to J/Ψ\,μν)$, is more than $2σ$ away from the standard model prediction. In this context, we consider …
Motivated by the recent observation of lepton universality violation in the flavour changing charged current transitions $b \to c l \barν_l$, we intend to scrutinize the lepton non-universality effects in rare semileptonic $B$ meson decays involving the quark level transitions $b \to u l \barν_l$. In this regard, we envisage the model-independent approach and consider the generalized effective Lagrangian in the presence of new physics and constrain the new parameters by using the experimental branching fractions of $B_u^+ \to l^+ ν_l$ and $B^- \to π^0 μ^- \bar ν_μ$ processes, where $l=e, μ, τ$…
Many exclusive $c\to d/s\ell^+ν_\ell~(\ell=e,μ,τ)$ transitions have been well measured, and they can be used to test the theoretical calculations. Motivated by this, we study the $D\to P/V/S\ell^+ν_\ell$ decays induced by the $c\to d/s\ell^+ν_\ell$ transitions with the SU(3) flavor symmetry approach, where $P$ denotes the pseudoscalar meson, $V$ denotes the vector meson, and $S$ denotes the scalar meson with a mass below $1$ $GeV$. The different decay amplitudes of the $D\to P\ell^+ν_\ell$, $D\to V\ell^+ν_\ell$ or $D\to S\ell^+ν_\ell$ decays can be related by using the SU(3) flavor symmetry an…
We present new lattice results of the K -> pion semileptonic form factors obtained from simulations with two flavors of dynamical twisted-mass fermions, using pion masses as light as 260 MeV. Our main result is f+(0) = 0.9560 (84), which, combined with the latest experimental data for Kl3 decays, leads to |V_{us}| = 0.2267 (5)_exp (20)_f+(0). Using the PDG(2008) determinations of |Vud| and |Vub| our result implies for the unitarity relation |Vud|**2 + |Vus|**2 + |Vub|**2 = 1.0004 (15). For the O(p**6) term of the chiral expansion of f+(0) we get Df = f+(0) - 1 - f2 = -0.0214 (84).
We show that the exclusive decay $B\rightarrow K^{\ast}γ$ can be related to the semileptonic decay $B\rightarrowρe\barν$ using heavy-quark symmetry and $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry. A direct measurement of the $q^{2}$-spectrum for the semileptonic decay can provide relevant information for the exclusive rare decay.
Deviation from the standard model prediction is observed in many semileptonic $B$ decays mediated via $b \to c$ charged current interactions. We study the inclusive production of bottom-flavored hadrons from semileptonic decays of polarized top quarks at next-to-leading order in QCD using fragmentation functions recently determined from a global fit to $e^+e^-$ data. We provide the relevant differential decay widths at parton level in analytic form. These results fill an important gap in the theoretical interpretation of recent measurements of the top-quark polarization and the $t\bar{t}$ spin correlations using dilepton final states in proton-proton collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. As an illustration, we study the dist…
Using the exisiting experimental data for hyperon semileptonic decays and the flavor-singlet axial-vector charge $g_{A}^{(0)}$ from polarized deep inelastic scattering of the proton, we derive the decay width of the $Θ^{+}$ pentaquark baryon. We take into account the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking within the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model. All dynamical parameters of the model are fixed by using the five experimental hyperon semileptonic decay constants and flavor singlet axial-vector charge. We obtain the numerical results of the decay width of the $Θ^{+}$ pentaquark b…
Using a QCD relativistic potential model, previously applied to the calculation of the heavy meson leptonic constants, we evaluate the form factors governing the exclusive decays $B\toρ\ellν$, $B\to K^*γ$ and $B\to K^*\ell^+\ell^-$. In our approach the heavy meson is described as a $Q\bar q$ bound state, whose wave function is solution of the relativistic Salpeter equation, with an instantaneous potential displaying Coulombic behaviour at small distances and linear behaviour at large distances. The light vector meson is described by using a vector current interpolating field, according to the …
Two of the outstanding discrepancies between weak interaction phenomenology and the standard model come in the large size of the $ΔI={1\over 2}$ enhancement in $K$ decays and in the small value of the $B$ semileptonic branching ratio. We argue that these discrepancies are naturally explained by chromomagnetic dipole operators arising from new physics at the TeV scale. These operators are closely connected to diagrams which contribute to the quark mass matrix, and we show how the proper enhancement of the hadronic decays of $s$ and $b$ quarks can be linked to generation of particular Cabbibo-Ko…
We investigate the hyperon semileptonic decay constants, $f_2/f_1$, and $g_1/f_1$, within a general framework of a chiral soliton model. All relevant parameters for the SU(3) baryon wave functions were unambiguously determined by using the experimental data for the masses of the baryon octet and the decuplet. Using then the existing experimental data for the magnetic moments of the baryon octet and the decay constants of hyperon semileptonic decays, we are able to determine all the hyperon semileptonic decay constants $f_2/f_1$ and $g_1/f_1$ of the baryon octet unequivocally. In addition, we a…
The flavor changing decays of heavy bottom quarks to the corresponding lighter quarks ($u$, $c$ and $s$) in various $B$-meson decays via charged current and neutral current semileptonic transitions have emerged as promising candidates to explore the physics beyond the standard model. Experimentally the lepton flavor universality violation in $b \to (c,u)\,l\,ν$ and $b \to s\,l^+ l^-$ transitions have been reported to a higher precision. The measurements of the lepton flavor violating ratios such as $R_{D^{(*)}}$, $R_{J/Ψ}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}$ are observed to deviate from the standard model expec…
We review some selected rare B decays calculated in next-to-leading order accuracy in the Standard Model (SM). These include the radiative decays $B \to (X_s,K^*,ρ)γ$ and the semileptonic decays $B \to (X_s,K,K^*) \ell^+ \ell^-$, for which new data from the BABAR and BELLE collaborations have been presented at this conference. SM is in agreement with the current measurements within the theoretical and experimental errors. The impact of rare B-decays on the CKM phenomenology is quantitatively discussed.
We present a calculation of the B -> pi l nu form factors with domain-wall light quarks and relativistic b-quarks on the lattice. We work with the 2+1 flavor domain-wall fermion and Iwasaki gauge-field ensembles generated by the RBC and UKQCD Collaborations. The chiral-continuum extrapolation is performed using SU(2) hard-pion chiral perturbation theory. To extrapolate the lattice form factors to the full kinematic range, we use the model independent z-parameterization and impose the kinematic constraint f_+(0) = f_0(0) at zero momentum transfer.
We investigate the kaon semileptonic decay (K_{l3}) form factors within the framework of the nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum, taking into account the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking. We also consider the problem of gauge invariance arising from the momentum-dependent quark mass in the present work. All theoretical calculations are carried out without any adjustable parameter, the average instanton size (rho ~ 1/3 fm) and the inter-instanton distance (R ~ 1 fm) having been fixed. We also show that the present results satisfy the Callan-Treiman low-energy theorem …
The invariant mass spectrum, forward-backward asymmetry, and lepton polarizations of the exclusive processes $B\to K(K^*)\ell^+ \ell^-, \ell=μ, τ$ are analyzed under supersymmetric context. Special attention is paid to the effects of neutral Higgs bosons (NHBs). Our analysis shows that the branching ratio of the process $\bkm$ can be quite largely modified by the effects of neutral Higgs bosons and the forward-backward asymmetry would not vanish. For the process $\bksm$, the lepton transverse polarization is quite sensitive to the effects of NHBs, while the invariant mass spectrum, forward-bac…
We study the $B \to Kl^+l^-$ semileptonic decay process in three-flavor lattice QCD. We analyze several ensembles generated by the MILC collaboration at different lattice spacings and sea-quark masses. We use the asqtad improved staggered action for the light quarks and the clover action with the Fermilab interpretation for the heavy $b$ quark. We present preliminary results for the vector current induced form factors for a range of kaon energies. Our analysis includes chiral and continuum extrapolations based on SU(2) staggered χPT.
The measured partial widths of the semileptonic decays D to K l nu and D to pi l nu can be combined with the form factors calculated on the lattice to extract the CKM matrix elements |V_cs| and |V_cd|. The lattice calculations can be checked by comparing the form factor shapes from the lattice and experiment. We have generated a sizable data set by using heavy clover quarks with the Fermilab interpretation for charm and asqtad staggered light quarks on 2+1 flavor MILC ensembles with lattice spacings of approximately 0.12, 0.09, 0.06, and 0.045 fm. Preliminary fits to staggered chiral perturbat…
