The relic cosmic background neutrinos accompanying the cosmic microwave background (CMB) photons may hide a universal lepton asymmetry orders of magnitude larger than the universal baryon asymmetry. At present, the only direct way to probe such an asymmetry is through its effect on the abundances of the light elements produced during primordial nucleosynthesis. The relic light element abundances also depend on the baryon asymmetry, parameterized by the baryon density parameter (eta_B = n_B/n_gamma = 10^(-10)*eta_10), and on the early-universe expansion rate, parameterized by the expansion rate factor (S = H'/H) or, equivalently by the effective number of neutrinos (N_nu = 3 + 43(S^2 - 1)/7). We use data from the CMB (and Large Scale Structure: LSS) along with the observationally-inferred relic abundances of deuterium and helium-4 to provide new bounds on the universal lepton asymmetry, finding for eta_L, the analog of eta_B, 0.072 +/- 0.053 if it is assumed that N_nu = 3 and, 0.115 +/- 0.095 along with N_nu = 3.3^{+0.7}_{-0.6}, if N_nu is free to vary.
We propose a scenario which can explain large lepton asymmetry and small baryon asymmetry simultaneously. Large lepton asymmetry is generated through Affleck-Dine (AD) mechanism and almost all the produced lepton numbers are absorbed into Q-balls (L-balls). If the lifetime of the L-balls is longer than the onset of electroweak phase transition but shorter than the epoch of big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN), the large lepton asymmetry in the L-balls is protected from sphaleron effects. On the other hand, small (negative) lepton numbers are evaporated from the L-balls due to thermal effects, which …
We propose a new scenario to simultaneously explain a large lepton asymmetry and a small baryon asymmetry. We consider a rolling scalar field and its derivative coupling to the lepton number current. The presence of an effective nonzero time derivative of the scalar field leads to $CPT$ violation so that the lepton asymmetry can be generated even in thermal equilibrium as pointed out by Cohen and Kaplan. In this model, the lepton asymmetry varies with time. In particular, we consider the case where it grows with time. The final lepton asymmetry is determined by the decoupling of the lepton num…
The lepton asymmetry of order one is not excluded experimentally and, if present, can lead to interesting phenomena in the early Universe. It is shown that, when the temperature is above the quark-hadron transition, the lepton asymmetry induces chemical potentials for electric charge and for baryon number, and makes the quark-gluon plasma electrically charged.
Effects of neutrino free streaming is evaluated on the primordial spectrum of gravitational radiation taking both neutrino chemical potential and masses into account. The former or the lepton asymmetry induces two competitive effects, namely, to increase anisotropic pressure, which damps the gravitational wave more, and to delay the matter-radiation equality time, which reduces the damping. The latter effect is more prominent and a large lepton asymmetry would reduce the damping. We may thereby be able to measure the magnitude of lepton asymmetry from the primordial gravitational wave spectrum…
The charge asymmetry due to higher-order QED corrections in elastic lepton-proton scattering is estimated without employing the ultrarelativistic approximation. Our calculation is performed by generalizing the soft-photon approximation approach suggested by Tsai. Corresponding loop integrals that take a form of Passarino-Veltman scalar three-point functions are calculated analytically without neglecting the mass of the lepton. Our results provide model-independent charge asymmetry predictions for scattering of unpolarized and massive leptons on proton targets. These predictions can be used in …
We analyze the effects of lepton asymmetry on neutrino oscillations and on cosmological nucleosynthesis with active-sterile oscillating neutrinos. It is shown that small lepton asymmetries, L < 0.01, whose direct kinetic effect on nucleosynthesis is negligible, still effect nucleosynthesis considerably through their influence on oscillating neutrinos. Two different cases of lepton asymmetry are discussed: an initially present and a dynamically generated in oscillations. Dynamically generated in resonant oscillations asymmetry at small mixing angles suppresses oscillations, hence, the nucleosyn…
A large lepton asymmetry in the Universe is still a viable possibility and leads to many interesting phenomena such as gauge symmetry nonrestoration at high temperature. We show that a large lepton asymmetry changes the predicted cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy and that any degeneracy in the relic neutrino sea will be measured to a precision of 1% or better when the CMB anisotropy is measured at the accuracy expected to result from the planned satellite missions MAP and Planck. In fact, the current measurements already put an upper limit on the lepton asymmetry of the Universe whi…
It is shown that hypothetical neutrino-majoron coupling can suppress neutrino flavor oscillations in the early universe, in contrast to the usual weak interaction case. This reopens a window for a noticeable cosmological lepton asymmetry which is forbidden for the large mixing angle solution in the case of standard interactions of neutrinos.
We discuss the usefulness of the CP violating semi-leptonic asymmetry a_{SL} not only as a signal of new physics, but also as a tool in constraining the CKM parameters. We show that this technique could yield useful results in the first years of running at the B factories. We present the analysis graphically in terms of M_{12}, the dispersive part of the B-Bbar mixing amplitude. This is complementary to the usual unitarity triangle representation and often allows a cleaner interpretation of the data.
This is a reply to the preprint "On Neutrino-Mixing-Generated Lepton Asymmetry and the Primordial Helium-4 Abundance" by M. V. Chizhov and D. P. Kirilova (hep-ph/9908525), which criticised our recent publication (X. Shi, G. M. Fuller and K. Abazajian Phys. Rev. D 60, 063002 (1999)). Here we point out factual errors in their description of what our paper says. We also show that their criticisms of our work have no merit.
Longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetry in B_q -> l l (q = d, s$ and l = e, mu, tau) decays is investigated. The analysis is done in a general manner by using the effective operators approach. It is shown that the longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetry would provide a direct search for the scalar and pseudoscalar type interactions, which are induced in all variants of Higgs-doublet models.
It has been proposed that an asymmetry in the electron neutrino sector may be generated by resonant active-sterile neutrino transformations during Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN). We calculate the change in the primordial $^4$He yield $Y$ resulting from this asymmetry, taking into account both the time evolution of the $ν_e$ and $\barν_e$ distribution function and the spectral distortions in these. We calculate this change in two schemes: (1) a lepton asymmetry directly generated by $ν_e$ mixing with a lighter right-handed sterile neutrino $ν_s$; and (2) a lepton asymmetry generated by a $ν_τ\l…
In Monte Carlo simulation of $pp$ and $pn$ interactions, it is shown that the charge asymmetry of like-sign lepton pairs can be observed as a manifestation of $B-\bar{B}$ production asymmetry. In this way, the $B-\bar{B}$ production asymmetry could be studied experimentally without full reconstruction of $B$-mesons.
Recently it is reported that there is the discrepancy between big bang nucleosynthesis theory and observations (BBN crisis). We show that BBN predictions agree with the primordial abundances of light elements, He4, D, He3 and Li7 inferred from the observational data if an electron neutrino has a net chemical potential xi_{nu_e} due to lepton asymmetry. We estimate that xi_{nu_e} = 0.043^{+0.040}_{-0.040} (95% C.L.) and Omega_bh^2 = 0.015^{+0.006}_{-0.003} (95% C.L.).
The lepton polarization asymmetry in the B\to\ell^{+}\ell^{-} decay, when one of the leptons is polarized, is investigated using the most general form of the effective Hamiltonian. The sensitivity of the asymmetry to the new Wilson coefficients is studied. Moreover, correlations between the lepton polarization asymmetry and the branching ratio is studied. It is observed that, there are not exist such regions of new Wilson coefficients, which the value of branching ratio coincides with SM result while the lepton polarization does not, i.e new physics effects can be established by studying lepton…
We investigate the impact parameter dependence of the $\cos 4ϕ$ azimuthal asymmetry for electromagnetic lepton pair production in heavy ion collisions. The asymmetry induced by linearly polarized coherent photons exhibits strong impact parameter dependence.
We study the influence of lepton asymmetry on the evolution of the early Universe. The lepton asymmetry $l$ is poorly constrained by observations and might be orders of magnitude larger than the baryon asymmetry $b$, $|l|/b \leq 2\times 10^8$. We find that lepton asymmetries that are large compared to the tiny baryon asymmetry, can influence the dynamics of the QCD phase transition significantly. The cosmic trajectory in the $μ_B-T$ phase diagram of strongly interacting matter becomes a function of lepton (flavour) asymmetry. Large lepton asymmetry could lead to a cosmic QCD phase transition o…
We discuss the two-photon exchange contribution to observables which involve lepton helicity flip in elastic lepton-nucleon scattering. This contribution is accessed through the spin asymmetry for a lepton beam polarized normal to the scattering plane. We estimate this beam normal spin asymmetry at large momentum transfer using a parton model and we express the corresponding amplitude in terms of generalized parton distributions.
Models with extended quark sector affect the CP asymmetry in the $B\to ψK_{S}$ decay, $a_{ψK_{S}}$, in two ways: First, the top-mediated box diagram is not necessarily the only important contribution to $B-\bar{B}$ mixing. Second, the $3\times 3$ CKM matrix is no longer unitary. We analyze the constraints that follow from the CDF measurement, $a_{ψK_{S}} =0.79^{+0.41}_{-0.44}$, on the mixing parameters of extended quark sectors. Most noticeably, we find significant constraints on the phase of the relevant flavor changing $Z$ coupling in models with extra down quarks in vector-like representati…
We examine the generation of baryon asymmetry at the weak scale from a primordial lepton asymmetry. If the electroweak phase transition is first order, partial reflection of tau leptons off the bubble walls and the resulting hypercharge transport into the symmetric phase, gives rise to a baryon number consistent with observation.
Primordial Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) tightly constrains the existence of any additional relativistic degrees of freedom at that epoch. However a large asymmetry in electron neutrino number shifts the chemical equilibrium between the neutron and proton at neutron freeze-out and allows such additional particle species. Moreover, the BBN itself may also prefer such an asymmetry to reconcile predicted element abundances and observations. However, such a large asymmetry appears to be in conflict with the observed small baryon asymmetry if they are in sphaleron mediated equilibrium. In this pap…
We analyze the chargino contributions to B_d - B-bar_d mixing and CP asymmetry of the B_d --> J/psi K_S decay, in the framework of the mass insertion approximation. We derive model independent bounds on the relevant mass insertions. Moreover, we study these contributions in supersymmetric models with minimal flavor violation, Hermitian flavor structure, and small CP violating phases and universal strength Yukawa couplings. We show that in supersymmetric models with large flavor mixing, the observed values of sin(2 beta) may be entirely due to the chargino-up-squark loops.
Neutrinoless double beta decay, lepton number violating collider processes and the Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) are intimately related. In particular lepton number violating processes at low energies in combination with sphaleron transitions will typically erase any pre-existing baryon asymmetry of the Universe. In this contribution we briefly review the tight connection between neutrinoless double beta decay, lepton number violating processes at the LHC and constraints from successful baryogenesis. We argue that far-reaching conclusions can be drawn unless the baryon asymmetry is st…
We use the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) data on the spectrum of cosmic microwave background anisotropies to put constraints on the present amount of lepton asymmetry L, parameterized by the dimensionless chemical potential (also called degeneracy parameter) xi and on the effective number of relativistic particle species. We assume a flat cosmological model with three thermally distributed neutrino species having all the same mass and chemical potential, plus an additional amount of effectively massless exotic particle species. The extra energy density associated to these species…
In models where the Standard Model spectrum is localized on a brane embedded in a higher dimensional spacetime, we discuss the lepton number violation induced by the emission of right-handed neutrinos from the brane. We show that quite generically the presence of the right-handed neutrinos in the bulk leads to rapid lepton number violating processes which above the electroweak scale would wash away any prior lepton or baryon asymmetry. In order to preserve the lepton asymmetry, the brane-bulk couplings for at least one lepton flavor must be extremely suppressed. We show that this has a natural…
We study the constraints that can be placed on anomalous $τ$-lepton couplings at the LHC. We use an effective Lagrangian description for physics beyond the standard model which contains the $τ$-lepton anomalous magnetic moment, electric dipole moment and weak dipole moments in two operators of dimension six. We include in our study two additional operators of dimension eight that directly couple the $τ$-leptons to gluons and are therefore enhanced at the LHC. We consider the two main effects from these couplings: modifications to the Drell-Yan cross-section and to the $τ$-lepton pair productio…
The very recent Boomerang results give an estimate of unprecedented precision of the Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropies on sub--degree scales. A puzzling feature for theoretical cosmology is the low amplitude of the second acoustic peak. Through a qualitative discussion, we argue that a scarcely considered category of flat models, with a leptonic asymmetry, a high baryon density and a low cosmological constant seems to be in very good agreement with the data, while still being compatible with big bang nucleosynthesis and some other observational constraints. Although this is certainly no…
The abundant production of lepton pairs via $J/Ψ$ creation at COMPASS, $π^\pm \, p^\uparrow \to J/Ψ\, X \to \ell^+ \ell^- X$, allows a measurement of the transverse Single Spin Asymmetry generated by the Sivers effect. The crucial issue of the sign change of the Sivers function in lepton pair production, with respect to Semi Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering processes, can be solved. Predictions for the expected magnitude of the Single Spin Asymmetry, which turns out to be large, are given.
We study a possibility of combining an origin of the $μ$-term and the baryon and lepton number asymmetry. If we assume that the $μ$-term is generated through a flat direction of a singlet scalar field, the coherent oscillation of this condensate around its potential minimum can store the global U(1) charge asymmetry. The decay of this condensate can distribute this asymmetry into the lepton and baryon number asymmetry as far as its decay occurs at an appropriate temperature. We examine the compatibility between this scenario and the small neutrino mass generation based on both the ordinary see…
We propose a non-thermal scenario for the generation of baryon number asymmetry in a radiative neutrino mass model which is modified to realize inflation at the early Universe. In this scenario, inflaton plays a crucial role in both generation of neutrino masses and lepton number asymmetry. Lepton number asymmetry is firstly generated in the dark matter sector through direct decay of inflaton. It is transferred to the lepton sector via the dark matter annihilation and then converted to the baryon number asymmetry due to the sphaleron interaction. All of the neutrino masses, the baryon number a…
In this paper we study the lepton polarization asymmetry for the simileptonic OZI-forbidden annihilation B^-_c->η' \ell^- \barν decay where \ell=μ, τ. Our results show that the branching ratio turn out to be of order 10^{-4}. Beside, we find that longitudinal, transversal and normal components of lepton polarizations can be measured for both μand τdecay modes in the future experiments at the LHC.
We show that even the smallest neutrino mass consistent with the Super--Kamiokande data is relevant for cosmological models of structure formation and cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies, provided that a relic neutrino asymmetry exists. We calculate the precision with which a 0.07 eV neutrino mass could be extracted from CMB anisotropy and large-scale structure data by the future Planck satellite and Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We find that such a mass can be detected, assuming a large relic neutrino asymmetry still allowed by current experimental data. This measurement of the absolut…
A large lepton asymmetry could be generated in the Early Universe by oscillations of active to sterile neutrinos with a small mixing angle sin 2 θ< 10^-2. The final order of magnitude of the lepton asymmetry ηis mainly determined by its growth in the last stage of evolution when the MSW resonance dominates the kinetic equations. In this paper we present a simple way of calculating the maximum possible lepton asymmetry which can be created. Our results are in good agreement to previous calculations. Furthermore, we find that the growth of asymmetry does not obey any particular power law. We fin…
We propose a resonant leptogenesis scenario in a U(1)_{B-L} gauge extension of the standard model to generate large lepton asymmetries for cosmological baryon asymmetry and dark matter. After B-L number is spontaneously broken, inflaton can pick up a small vacuum expectation value for the mass splits of three pairs of quasi-degenerately heavy Majorana neutrinos and the masses of three sterile neutrinos. With thermal mass effects of sphalerons, the observed small baryon asymmetry can be converted from large lepton asymmetries of individual flavors although total lepton asymmetry is assumed zero…
We calculate a single transverse-spin asymmetry for the Drell-Yan lepton-pair's angular distribution in perturbative QCD. At leading order in the strong coupling constant, the asymmetry is expressed in terms of a twist-3 quark-gluon correlation function T_F^{(V)}(x_1,x_2). In our calculation, the same result was obtained in both light-cone and covariant gauge in QCD, while keeping explicit electromagnetic current conservation for the virtual photon that decays into the lepton pair. We also present a numerical estimate of the asymmetry and compare the result to an existing other prediction.
We investigate the longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetry in the exclusive processes $B\to K l^+l^-$ and $B\to K^* l^+l^-$. We include both short and long-distance contributions to the asymmetry in our discussions. We find that average values of the polarization asymmetries of the muon and tau for $B\to K^{(*)}μ^+μ^-$ and $B\to K^{(*)}τ^+τ^-$ are $-0.8\ (-0.7)$ and $-0.2\ (-0.5)$, respectively.
We investigate how a lepton asymmetry impacts the cosmic trajectory in the QCD phase diagram. We study the evolution of chemical potentials during the QCD epoch of the early Universe using susceptibilities from lattice QCD to interpolate between an ideal quark gas and an ideal hadron resonance gas. The lepton asymmetry affects the evolution of all chemical potentials. The standard cosmic trajectory is obtained assuming tiny lepton and baryon asymmetries. For larger lepton asymmetry, the charge chemical potential exceeds the baryon chemical potential before pion annihilation.
We present the correlation of low energy CP phases, both Dirac and Majorana, and the lepton asymmetry for the baryon asymmetry in the universe, with a certain class of Yukawa matrices that consist of two right-handed neutrinos and include one texture zero in themselves. For cases in which the amount of the lepton asymmetry $Y_L$ turns out to be proportional to $θ_{13}^2$, we consider the relation between two types of CP phases and the relation of $Y_L$ versus the Jarlskog invariant or the amplitude of neutrinoless double beta decay as $θ_{13}$ varies.
We study a possible symmetry restoration due to the radiative effect of particles which are explosively produced in preheating after inflation. As its application, we consider a scenario for leptogenesis based on the lepton number asymmetry generated in the right-handed neutrino sector through the inflaton decay. The scenario is examined in a one-loop radiative neutrino mass model extended with singlet scalars.
We consider the production of W bosons in hadron collisions, and the subsequent leptonic decay W->lnu_l. We study the asymmetry between the rapidity distributions of the charged leptons, and we present its computation up to the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD perturbation theory. Our calculation includes the dependence on the lepton kinematical cuts that are necessarily applied to select W-> lnu_l events in actual experimental analyses at hadron colliders. We illustrate the main differences between the W and lepton charge asymmetry, and we discuss their physical origin and the effe…
We investigate how large lepton asymmetries affect the evolution of the early universe at times before big bang nucleosynthesis and in particular how they influence the relic density of WIMP dark matter. In comparison to the standard calculation of the relic WIMP abundance we find a decrease, depending on the lepton flavour asymmetry. We find an effect of up to 20 per cent for lepton flavour asymmetries $l_f= {\cal O}(0.1)$.
We investigate the issue of how accurately we can constrain the lepton number asymmetry xi_nu = mu_nu/T_nu in the Universe by using future observations of 21 cm line fluctuations and cosmic microwave background (CMB). We find that combinations of the 21 cm line and the CMB observations can constrain the lepton asymmetry better than big-bang nucleosynthesis (BBN). Additionally, we also discuss constraints on xi_nu in the presence of some extra radiation, and show that the 21 cm line observations can substantially improve the constraints obtained by CMB alone, and allow us to distinguish the eff…
The reweighting method presented in earlier publications is applied for incorporating the LHC W lepton asymmetry data published in 2010 into the NNPDF2.1 NNLO analysis. We confirm the result of the NLO analysis which indicated that these data reduce PDF uncertainties of light quarks in the medium and small-x region, providing the first solid constraints on PDFs from LHC data.
The lepton asymmetry that could be generated in the early universe through oscillations of active to sterile neutrinos is calculated (almost) analytically for small mixing angles, sin 2θ< 10^{-2}. It is shown that for a mass squared difference, δm^2=-1 eV^2 it may rise at most by 6 orders of magnitude from the initial ``normal'' value of 10^{-10}, since the back-reaction from the refraction index terminates this rise while the asymmetry is still small. Only for very large mass differences, δm^2 about 10^9 eV^2, the lepton asymmetry could reach a significant magnitude exceeding 0.1.
We study the minimal type-III seesaw model in which we extend the SM by adding two $SU(2)_L$ triplet fermions with zero hypercharge to explain the origin of the non-zero neutrino masses. We show that the naturalness conditions and the limits from lepton flavor violating decays provide very stringent bounds on the model parameters along with the constraints from the stability/metastability of the electroweak vacuum. We perform a detailed analysis of the model parameter space including all the constraints for both normal as well as inverted hierarchies of the light neutrino masses. We find that …
Charged-lepton flavor violation (CLFV) is a smoking-gun signature of physics beyond the Standard Model. The discovery of CLFV in upcoming experiments would indicate that CLFV processes must have been efficient in the early Universe at relatively low temperatures. In this letter, we point out that such efficient CLFV interactions open up new ways of creating the baryon asymmetry of the Universe. First, we quote the two-loop corrections from charged-lepton Yukawa interactions to the chemical transport in the Standard Model plasma, which imply that nonzero lepton flavor asymmetries summing up to …
We study in detail the mechanism of baryon and lepton asymmetry generation in the framework of the $ν$MSM (an extension of the Standard Model by three singlet fermions with masses smaller than the electroweak scale). We elucidate the issue of CP-violation in the model and define the phase relevant for baryogenesis. We clarify the question of quantum-mechanical coherence, essential for the lepton asymmetry generation in singlet fermion oscillations and compute the relevant damping rates. The range of masses and couplings of singlet leptons which can lead to successful baryogenesis is determined…
We investigate dimension five Lorentz-violating nonminimal interactions in the electroweak sector, in connection with the possible generation of electric dipole moment (EDM), weak electric dipole moment (WEDM), magnetic dipole moment (MDM) and weak magnetic dipole moment (WMDM) for leptons. These couplings are composed of the physical fields and LV tensors of ranks ranging from 1 to 4. The CPT-odd couplings do no generate EDM\ behavior and do not provide the correct MDM\ signature, while the CPT-even ones yield EDM and MDM\ behavior, being subject to improved constraining. Tau lepton experimen…
We study the effect of non-universal $Z'$ boson on the rare leptonic decay modes of $B_s^*$ mesons, mediated by $b arrow sll$ quark transition. Rare B decays are sensitive to various new physics operators. As B mesons are composite particles, such decay modes of the excited states are ideal for probing new physics beyond the standard model. We have constrained our model parameters from $B_(s,d)-$ {B bar(s,d)}$ mixing data to predict the lepton polarization asymmetry of $B_(s,d)^*$ arrow $μ^+ μ^-$ channel. It is found that this asymmetry deviates from its SM prediction along with the $Z'$effect
Decay rate, forward-backward asymmetry and polarization asymmetries of final state leptons in B-> K_{1}tau ^{+}tau ^{-}, where K_{1} is the axial vector meson, are calculated in Standard Model and in the universal extra dimension (UED) model. The sensitivity of the observables on the compactification radius $R$, the only unknown paramter in UED model, is studied. Finally, the helicity fractions of the final state K_{1} are calculated and their dependence on the compactification radius is discussed. This analysis of helicity fraction is briefly extended to B->K^{*}l ^{+}l ^{-}(l =e,mu) and comp…
We use a wide range of observations to constrain cosmological models possessing a significant asymmetry in the lepton sector, which offer perhaps the best chance of reconciling a critical-density Universe with current observations. The simplest case, with massless neutrinos, fails to fit many experimental data and does not lead to an acceptable model. If the neutrinos have mass of order one electron-volt (which is favoured by some neutrino observations), then models can be implemented which prove a good fit to microwave anisotropies and large-scale structure data. However, taking into account …
We consider a baryogenesis scenario, where the difference of baryon (B) and lepton (L) number is conserved in such a way that the B-L asymmetry in the standard model sector is compensated by an asymmetry of opposite sign stored in the dark energy sector. Therefore, we introduce a toy-model in which a complex quintessence field carries a B-L asymmetry at late times. We determine the produced baryon asymmetry in the visible sector for a large range of initial conditions and find it easy to achieve a value of the observed order of magnitude. While the size of the produced baryon asymmetry depends…
The influence of the hard photon emission on the charge asymmetry in the (anti)lepton-proton elastic scattering was evaluated for the first time beyond the ultrarelativistic limit, while retaining the lepton mass at all steps of the calculation. This contribution - responsible for the charge asymmetry - is induced by interference between real photon emission from the lepton and proton. During the calculation any excited states of the intermediated proton are not considered, allowing us to use the standard fermionic propagator for this particle. The infrared divergence extracted using Lorenz-in…
The observed pattern of mixing in the neutrino sector may be explained by the presence of a non-Abelian, discrete flavour symmetry broken into residual subgroups at low energies. Many flavour models require the presence of Standard Model singlet scalars which can promptly decay to charged leptons in a flavour-violating manner. We constrain the model parameters of a generic $A_4$ leptonic flavour model using a synergy of experimental data including limits from charged lepton flavour conversion, an 8 TeV collider analysis and constraints from the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. The most p…
We study the implication of R-parity violating Rp Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) model in lepton polarization asymmetry ALP in B l l(bar) decays . The analysis show that the ALP is significant in a certain phenomenological parametric region of Yukawa couplings. We have also placed indirect bounds on Lambda' lambda couplings as obtained from B t t(bar).
Oscillations of active to sterile neutrinos with a small mixing angle sin 2 θ< 10^{-2} could generate a large lepton asymmetry in the Early Universe. The final order of magnitude of the lepton asymmetry ηis mainly determined by its growth in the last stage of evolution, the so called power-law regime. There exist two contradictory results in the literature, η\propto T^{-1} and η\propto T^{-4}, where T is the background medium temperature. In the first case, the lepton asymmetry does not exceed values of 10^{-4} for |δm^2| < 1 eV^2, while in the second case it can become larger than 10^{-1}. In…
In this article, we discuss the mechanism for generating the lepton/baryon number and its subsequent conservation based on extradimensional evolution. The internal angular momentum of extra space is related to the lepton/baryon charge. Extra space metric are assumed to be initially asymmetric. Symmetries appear during inflation due to an increase in entropy. Using the multidimensional field toy model, we show that internal angular momentum can accumulate in fermions, which could explain the lepton/baryon asymmetry of the Universe.
