The influence of the hard photon emission on the charge asymmetry in the (anti)lepton-proton elastic scattering was evaluated for the first time beyond the ultrarelativistic limit, while retaining the lepton mass at all steps of the calculation. This contribution - responsible for the charge asymmetry - is induced by interference between real photon emission from the lepton and proton. During the calculation any excited states of the intermediated proton are not considered, allowing us to use the standard fermionic propagator for this particle. The infrared divergence extracted using Lorenz-invariant approach of Bardin-Shumeiko is canceled by the corresponding soft part of the two-photon exchange contribution. Numerical analysis was performed within kinematic conditions of Jefferson Lab measurements and MUSE experiment in PSI.
Longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetry in B_q -> l l (q = d, s$ and l = e, mu, tau) decays is investigated. The analysis is done in a general manner by using the effective operators approach. It is shown that the longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetry would provide a direct search for the scalar and pseudoscalar type interactions, which are induced in all variants of Higgs-doublet models.
In Monte Carlo simulation of $pp$ and $pn$ interactions, it is shown that the charge asymmetry of like-sign lepton pairs can be observed as a manifestation of $B-\bar{B}$ production asymmetry. In this way, the $B-\bar{B}$ production asymmetry could be studied experimentally without full reconstruction of $B$-mesons.
The lepton polarization asymmetry in the B\to\ell^{+}\ell^{-} decay, when one of the leptons is polarized, is investigated using the most general form of the effective Hamiltonian. The sensitivity of the asymmetry to the new Wilson coefficients is studied. Moreover, correlations between the lepton polarization asymmetry and the branching ratio is studied. It is observed that, there are not exist such regions of new Wilson coefficients, which the value of branching ratio coincides with SM result while the lepton polarization does not, i.e new physics effects can be established by studying lepton…
We investigate the impact parameter dependence of the $\cos 4ϕ$ azimuthal asymmetry for electromagnetic lepton pair production in heavy ion collisions. The asymmetry induced by linearly polarized coherent photons exhibits strong impact parameter dependence.
We discuss the two-photon exchange contribution to observables which involve lepton helicity flip in elastic lepton-nucleon scattering. This contribution is accessed through the spin asymmetry for a lepton beam polarized normal to the scattering plane. We estimate this beam normal spin asymmetry at large momentum transfer using a parton model and we express the corresponding amplitude in terms of generalized parton distributions.
We examine the generation of baryon asymmetry at the weak scale from a primordial lepton asymmetry. If the electroweak phase transition is first order, partial reflection of tau leptons off the bubble walls and the resulting hypercharge transport into the symmetric phase, gives rise to a baryon number consistent with observation.
Neutrinoless double beta decay, lepton number violating collider processes and the Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) are intimately related. In particular lepton number violating processes at low energies in combination with sphaleron transitions will typically erase any pre-existing baryon asymmetry of the Universe. In this contribution we briefly review the tight connection between neutrinoless double beta decay, lepton number violating processes at the LHC and constraints from successful baryogenesis. We argue that far-reaching conclusions can be drawn unless the baryon asymmetry is st…
In models where the Standard Model spectrum is localized on a brane embedded in a higher dimensional spacetime, we discuss the lepton number violation induced by the emission of right-handed neutrinos from the brane. We show that quite generically the presence of the right-handed neutrinos in the bulk leads to rapid lepton number violating processes which above the electroweak scale would wash away any prior lepton or baryon asymmetry. In order to preserve the lepton asymmetry, the brane-bulk couplings for at least one lepton flavor must be extremely suppressed. We show that this has a natural…
The abundant production of lepton pairs via $J/Ψ$ creation at COMPASS, $π^\pm \, p^\uparrow \to J/Ψ\, X \to \ell^+ \ell^- X$, allows a measurement of the transverse Single Spin Asymmetry generated by the Sivers effect. The crucial issue of the sign change of the Sivers function in lepton pair production, with respect to Semi Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering processes, can be solved. Predictions for the expected magnitude of the Single Spin Asymmetry, which turns out to be large, are given.
We study a possibility of combining an origin of the $μ$-term and the baryon and lepton number asymmetry. If we assume that the $μ$-term is generated through a flat direction of a singlet scalar field, the coherent oscillation of this condensate around its potential minimum can store the global U(1) charge asymmetry. The decay of this condensate can distribute this asymmetry into the lepton and baryon number asymmetry as far as its decay occurs at an appropriate temperature. We examine the compatibility between this scenario and the small neutrino mass generation based on both the ordinary see…
In this paper we study the lepton polarization asymmetry for the simileptonic OZI-forbidden annihilation B^-_c->η' \ell^- \barν decay where \ell=μ, τ. Our results show that the branching ratio turn out to be of order 10^{-4}. Beside, we find that longitudinal, transversal and normal components of lepton polarizations can be measured for both μand τdecay modes in the future experiments at the LHC.
A large lepton asymmetry could be generated in the Early Universe by oscillations of active to sterile neutrinos with a small mixing angle sin 2 θ< 10^-2. The final order of magnitude of the lepton asymmetry ηis mainly determined by its growth in the last stage of evolution when the MSW resonance dominates the kinetic equations. In this paper we present a simple way of calculating the maximum possible lepton asymmetry which can be created. Our results are in good agreement to previous calculations. Furthermore, we find that the growth of asymmetry does not obey any particular power law. We fin…
We propose a resonant leptogenesis scenario in a U(1)_{B-L} gauge extension of the standard model to generate large lepton asymmetries for cosmological baryon asymmetry and dark matter. After B-L number is spontaneously broken, inflaton can pick up a small vacuum expectation value for the mass splits of three pairs of quasi-degenerately heavy Majorana neutrinos and the masses of three sterile neutrinos. With thermal mass effects of sphalerons, the observed small baryon asymmetry can be converted from large lepton asymmetries of individual flavors although total lepton asymmetry is assumed zero…
We calculate a single transverse-spin asymmetry for the Drell-Yan lepton-pair's angular distribution in perturbative QCD. At leading order in the strong coupling constant, the asymmetry is expressed in terms of a twist-3 quark-gluon correlation function T_F^{(V)}(x_1,x_2). In our calculation, the same result was obtained in both light-cone and covariant gauge in QCD, while keeping explicit electromagnetic current conservation for the virtual photon that decays into the lepton pair. We also present a numerical estimate of the asymmetry and compare the result to an existing other prediction.
We investigate the longitudinal lepton polarization asymmetry in the exclusive processes $B\to K l^+l^-$ and $B\to K^* l^+l^-$. We include both short and long-distance contributions to the asymmetry in our discussions. We find that average values of the polarization asymmetries of the muon and tau for $B\to K^{(*)}μ^+μ^-$ and $B\to K^{(*)}τ^+τ^-$ are $-0.8\ (-0.7)$ and $-0.2\ (-0.5)$, respectively.
We present the correlation of low energy CP phases, both Dirac and Majorana, and the lepton asymmetry for the baryon asymmetry in the universe, with a certain class of Yukawa matrices that consist of two right-handed neutrinos and include one texture zero in themselves. For cases in which the amount of the lepton asymmetry $Y_L$ turns out to be proportional to $θ_{13}^2$, we consider the relation between two types of CP phases and the relation of $Y_L$ versus the Jarlskog invariant or the amplitude of neutrinoless double beta decay as $θ_{13}$ varies.
We study a possible symmetry restoration due to the radiative effect of particles which are explosively produced in preheating after inflation. As its application, we consider a scenario for leptogenesis based on the lepton number asymmetry generated in the right-handed neutrino sector through the inflaton decay. The scenario is examined in a one-loop radiative neutrino mass model extended with singlet scalars.
The reweighting method presented in earlier publications is applied for incorporating the LHC W lepton asymmetry data published in 2010 into the NNPDF2.1 NNLO analysis. We confirm the result of the NLO analysis which indicated that these data reduce PDF uncertainties of light quarks in the medium and small-x region, providing the first solid constraints on PDFs from LHC data.
The lepton asymmetry that could be generated in the early universe through oscillations of active to sterile neutrinos is calculated (almost) analytically for small mixing angles, sin 2θ< 10^{-2}. It is shown that for a mass squared difference, δm^2=-1 eV^2 it may rise at most by 6 orders of magnitude from the initial ``normal'' value of 10^{-10}, since the back-reaction from the refraction index terminates this rise while the asymmetry is still small. Only for very large mass differences, δm^2 about 10^9 eV^2, the lepton asymmetry could reach a significant magnitude exceeding 0.1.
We study the effect of non-universal $Z'$ boson on the rare leptonic decay modes of $B_s^*$ mesons, mediated by $b arrow sll$ quark transition. Rare B decays are sensitive to various new physics operators. As B mesons are composite particles, such decay modes of the excited states are ideal for probing new physics beyond the standard model. We have constrained our model parameters from $B_(s,d)-$ {B bar(s,d)}$ mixing data to predict the lepton polarization asymmetry of $B_(s,d)^*$ arrow $μ^+ μ^-$ channel. It is found that this asymmetry deviates from its SM prediction along with the $Z'$effect
Decay rate, forward-backward asymmetry and polarization asymmetries of final state leptons in B-> K_{1}tau ^{+}tau ^{-}, where K_{1} is the axial vector meson, are calculated in Standard Model and in the universal extra dimension (UED) model. The sensitivity of the observables on the compactification radius $R$, the only unknown paramter in UED model, is studied. Finally, the helicity fractions of the final state K_{1} are calculated and their dependence on the compactification radius is discussed. This analysis of helicity fraction is briefly extended to B->K^{*}l ^{+}l ^{-}(l =e,mu) and comp…
We study the implication of R-parity violating Rp Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) model in lepton polarization asymmetry ALP in B l l(bar) decays . The analysis show that the ALP is significant in a certain phenomenological parametric region of Yukawa couplings. We have also placed indirect bounds on Lambda' lambda couplings as obtained from B t t(bar).
Oscillations of active to sterile neutrinos with a small mixing angle sin 2 θ< 10^{-2} could generate a large lepton asymmetry in the Early Universe. The final order of magnitude of the lepton asymmetry ηis mainly determined by its growth in the last stage of evolution, the so called power-law regime. There exist two contradictory results in the literature, η\propto T^{-1} and η\propto T^{-4}, where T is the background medium temperature. In the first case, the lepton asymmetry does not exceed values of 10^{-4} for |δm^2| < 1 eV^2, while in the second case it can become larger than 10^{-1}. In…
The Higgs-boson decay h -> gamma l+ l- for various lepton states l = (e, mu, tau) is analyzed. The differential decay width and forward-backward asymmetry are calculated as functions of the dilepton invariant mass in a model where the Higgs boson interacts with leptons and quarks via a mixture of scalar and pseudoscalar couplings. These couplings are partly constrained from data on the decays to leptons, h -> l+ l-, and quarks h -> q \bar{q} (where q = (c, b)), while the Higgs couplings to the top quark are chosen from the two-photon and two-gluon decay rates. Nonzero values of the forward-bac…
It is shown that the dynamics of domain walls in Left-Right symmetric models, separating respective regions of unbroken SU(2)_L and SU(2)_R in the early universe, can give rise to baryogenesis via leptogenesis. Neutrinos have a spatially varying complex mass matrix due to CP-violating scalar condensates in the domain wall. The motion of the wall through the plasma generates a flux of lepton number across the wall which is converted to a lepton asymmetry by helicity-flipping scatterings. Subsequent processing of the lepton excess by sphalerons results in the observed baryon asymmetry, for a ran…
We report on a study of the measurement techniques used to determine the leptonic forward-backward asymmetry of top anti-top quark pairs in Tevatron experiments with a proton anti-proton initial state. Recently it was shown that a fit of the differential asymmetry as a function of $q_{l}η_{l}$ (where $q_{l}$ is the charge of the lepton from the cascade decay of the top quarks and $η_{l}$ is the final pseudorapidity of the lepton in the detector frame) to a hyperbolic tangent function can be used to extrapolate to the full leptonic asymmetry. We find this empirical method to well reproduce the …
Baryogenesis appears to require lepton number violation. This is naturally realized in extensions of the standard model containing right-handed neutrinos. We discuss the generation of a baryon asymmetry by the out-of-equilibrium decay of heavy Majorana neutrinos in these models, without and with supersymmetry. All relevant lepton number violating scattering processes which can inhibit the generation of an asymmetry are taken into account. We assume a similar pattern of mixings and masses for neutrinos and up-type quarks, as suggested by SO(10) unification. This implies that B-L is broken at th…
We study the single spin asymmetry in the lepton angular distribution of Drell-Yan processes in the frame work of collinear factorization. The asymmetry has been studied in the past and different results have been obtained. In our study we take an approach different than that used in the existing study. We explicitly calculate the transverse-spin dependent part of the differential cross-section with suitable parton states. Because the spin is transverse, one has to take multi-parton states for the purpose. Our result agrees with one of the existing results. A possible reason for the disagreeme…

In this literature we show how the scotogenic frame work can be a common origin for explaining neutrino mass, lepton asymmetry and give a dark matter candidate. We start out with the extension of the Standard Model with fermions, which are odd under a discrete symmetry, with the SM-like fermions we also have a doublet scalar field like Higgs but odd under discrete symmetry. This model has potential similar to the inert doublet model, which implies we can have a Dark Matter candidate similar to IDM, the Dark matter aspect and calculation of DM parameters are not discussed extensively. In this m…
For the kinematical region when a hard photon is emitted predominantly close to the direction of motion of a longitudinally polarized initial electron and relatively small momentum transfer to a proton we calculate the azimuthal asymmetry of photon emission. It arises from the interference of the Bethe-Heitler amplitude and those which are described by a heavy photon impact factor. Azimuthal asymmetry does not decrease in the limit of infinite cms energy. Lowest order expression for the impact factor of a heavy photon is presented.
Using the Coulomb Eikonal Phase associated with a transversely polarized nucleon, we calculate the azimuthal single spin asymmetry of unpolarized electrons elastically scattered from a transversely polarized nucleon target. The azimuthal asymmetry in this case is attributed to the fact that in a transversely polarized nucleon, the transverse charge density is no longer axially symmetric and is distorted due to the transverse spin of the nucleon. This asymmetry in the nucleon charge density causes a left-right asymmetry in the azimuthal distribution of the scattered electrons. In our approach, …
The lepton helicity distributions in the polarized Drell-Yan process at RHIC energy are investigated. In the absence of the weak interaction, only the measurement of lepton helicity can prove the antisymmetric part of the hadronic tensor. Therefore it might be interesting to consider the helicity distributions of leptons to obtain more information on the structure of nucleon from the polarized Drell-Yan process. We estimate the QCD corrections at ${\cal O} (α_s)$ level to the hadronic tensor including both intermediate $γ$ and $Z$ bosons. We report the numerical analyses on the $Z$ pole and sh…
The mass hierarchies of quarks and charged leptons as well as a large $\n_\m$-$\n_\t$ mixing angle are naturally explained by the Frogatt-Nielsen mechanism with a nonparallel family structure of chiral charges. We extend this mechanism to right-handed neutrinos. Their out-of-equilibrium decay generates a cosmological baryon asymmetry whose size is quantized in powers of the hierarchy parameter $\e^2$. For the simplest hierarchy pattern the neutrino mass $\bar{m}_\n= (m_{\n_\m}m_{\n_\t})^{1/2} \sim 10^{-2}$ eV, which is inferred from present indications for neutrino oscillations, implies a bary…
We demonstrate that $CP-$violation in the Majorana mass matrices of the heavy neutrinos can generate a $CP-$asymmetric universe. The subsequent decay of the Majorana particles generates a lepton number asymmetry. During the electroweak phase transition the lepton asymmetry is converted into a baryon asymmetry, which survives down to this time.
The most promising scenarios of baryogenesis seems to be the one through lepton number violation. Lepton number violation through a Majarana mass of the right-handed neutrinos can generate a lepton asymmetry of the universe when the right-handed neutrinos decay. The left-handed neutrinos get small Majorana masses through see-saw mechanism in these models. A triplet higgs scalar violating lepton number explicitly through its couplings to two leptons or two higgs doublets can also naturally give small Majorana masses to the left-handed neutrinos and also generate a lepton asymmetry of the univer…
We study the azimuthal asymmetry in the Drell-Yan lepton pair production in hadronic scattering processes at moderate transverse momentum region, taking into account the contributions from the twist-three quark-gluon correlations from the unpolarized hadrons. The contributions are found to dominate the asymmetry, and are not power suppressed by q_\perp/Q at small q_\perp where q_\perp and Q are the transverse momentum and invariant mass of the lepton pair. Accordingly, the Lam-Tung relation will be violated at this momentum region, and its violation depends on the twist-three functions. Howeve…
In this article we discuss lepton asymmetry effect on BBN with neutrino oscillations. We argue that asymmetry much smaller than 0.01, although not big enough to influence directly the nucleosynthesis kinetics, can effect considerably BBN indirectly via neutrino oscillations. Namely, it distorts neutrino spectrum and changes neutrino density evolution and the pattern of oscillations (either suppressing or enhancing them), which in turn effect the primordial synthesis of elements. We show that the results of the paper X. Shi et al., Phys. Rev. D 60, 063002 (1999), based on the assumption that on…
We estimate the beam-normal single-spin asymmetry in elastic lepton-proton scattering without employing the ultrarelativistic approximation. Our calculation is relevant for analyses of muon scattering at energies of few hundred MeV and below -- when effects of the muon mass become essential. At such energies, the transverse polarization of the muon beam is expected to contribute significantly to the systematic uncertainty of precision measurements of elastic muon-proton scattering. We evaluate such systematics using an example of the MUSE experiment at PSI. The muon asymmetry is estimated at a…
We derive a condition the short distance coefficients governing $b\to (s,d)\ell^+\ell^-$ transitions must satisfy in order for the forward-backward asymmetry to vanish in the exclusive modes $B\to (K^*,ρ)\ell^+\ell^-$. This relation, which is satisfied in the standard model, involves the coefficient entering in $b\to sγ$ transitions as well as one of the additional Wilson coefficients present in the leptonic modes. We show that the resulting relation is largely free of hadronic uncertainties, thus constituting a reliable test of the standard model in exclusive rare B decays.
We propose a scenario which can explain large lepton asymmetry and small baryon asymmetry simultaneously. Large lepton asymmetry is generated through Affleck-Dine (AD) mechanism and almost all the produced lepton numbers are absorbed into Q-balls (L-balls). If the lifetime of the L-balls is longer than the onset of electroweak phase transition but shorter than the epoch of big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN), the large lepton asymmetry in the L-balls is protected from sphaleron effects. On the other hand, small (negative) lepton numbers are evaporated from the L-balls due to thermal effects, which …
In leptogenesis scenario, the decays of heavy Majorana neutrinos generate lepton family asymmetries, $Y_e, Y_μ$ and $Y_τ$. They are sensitive to CP violating phases in seesaw models. The time evolution of the lepton family asymmetries are derived by solving Boltzmann equations. By taking a minimal seesaw model, we show how each family asymmetry varies with a CP violating phase. For instance, we find the case that the lepton asymmetry is dominated by $Y_μ$ or $Y_τ$ depending on the choice of the CP violating phase. We also find the case that the signs of lepton family asymmetries $Y_μ$ and $Y_τ…
It has been recently shown that the quantum Boltzmann equations may be relevant for the leptogenesis scenario. In particular, they lead to a time-dependent CP asymmetry which depends upon the previous dynamics of the system. This memory effect in the CP asymmetry is particularly important in resonant leptogenesis where the asymmetry is generated by the decays of nearly mass-degenerate right-handed neutrinos. We study the impact of the non-trivial time evolution of the CP asymmetry in the so-called Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation framework where the charged-lepton and the neutrino Yukawa coupl…
We derive a general framework for describing semi-inclusive deep-inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering in terms of the unintegrated parton distributions and other higher twist parton correlations. Such a framework provides a consistent approach to the calculation of inclusive and semi-inclusive cross sections including higher twist effects. As an example, we calculate the azimuthal asymmetries to the order of 1/Q in semi-inclusive process with transversely polarized target. A non-vanishing single-spin asymmetry in the ``triggered inclusive process'' is predicted to be 1/Q suppressed with a part …
We study the influence of lepton asymmetry on the evolution of the early Universe. The lepton asymmetry $l$ is poorly constrained by observations and might be orders of magnitude larger than the baryon asymmetry $b$, $|l|/b \leq 2\times 10^8$. We find that lepton asymmetries that are large compared to the tiny baryon asymmetry, can influence the dynamics of the QCD phase transition significantly. The cosmic trajectory in the $μ_B-T$ phase diagram of strongly interacting matter becomes a function of lepton (flavour) asymmetry. Large lepton asymmetry could lead to a cosmic QCD phase transition o…
A mechanism is presented, in which the mixing of right handed heavy Majorana neutrinos creates a $CP-$asymmetric universe. When these Majorana neutrinos subsequently decay more leptons than anti-leptons are produced. The lepton asymmetry created by this new mechanism can exceed by a few orders of magnitude any lepton asymmetry originating from direct decays. The asymmetry is finally converted into a baryon asymmetry during the electroweak phase transition.
We present a compact form of the leptonic currents for the computation of the processes involving an initial virtual boson (photon, $W^{\pm}$ or $Z_0$). For deeply inelastic scattering, once the azimuthal angle of the plane expanded by the initial- and final-state leptons are integrated over in the boson-proton rest frame, the azimuthal-asymmetric terms vanish, which, however, is NOT true when some physical quantities (such as the transverse momentum of the observed particle) are specified in laboratory frame. The abuse of the symmetry may lead to wrong results.
If signals suggesting supersymmetry (SUSY) are discovered at the LHC then it will be vital to measure the spin of the new particles to demonstrate that they are indeed the predicted super-partners. A method is discussed by which the spins of some of the SUSY particles can be investigated. Angular distributions in sparticle decays lead to charge asymmetry in lepton-jet invariant mass distributions. The size of the asymmetry is proportional to the primary production asymmetry between squarks and anti-squarks. Monte Carlo simulations are performed for a particular mSUGRA model point at the LHC. T…
Two kinds of asymmetry arise from the interference of the Born amplitude and the box-type amplitude corresponding to two virtual photons exchange, namely charge-odd and one spin asymmetries. In case of unpolarized particles the charge-odd correlation is calculated. It can be measured in combination of electron muon and positron muon scattering experiments. The forward-backward asymmetry is the corresponding quantity which can be measured for the crossed processes. In the case of polarized muon the one-spin asymmetry for annihilation and scattering channels has been calculated. The additional s…
The transverse beam spin induced asymmetry is calculated for the scattering of transversally polarized electrons on a proton target within a realistic model. Such asymmetry is due to the interference between the Born amplitude and the imaginary part of two photon exchange amplitude. In particular, the contribution of non-excited hadron state (elastic) to the two photon amplitude is calculated. The elastic contribution requires infrared divergences regularization and can be expressed in terms of numerical integrals of the target form factor. The inelastic channel corresponding to the one pion h…
The parity-conserving single-spin beam asymmetry of elastic electron-proton scattering is induced by an absorptive part of the two-photon exchange amplitude. We demonstrate that this asymmetry has logarithmic and double-logarithmic enhancement due to contributions of hard collinear quasi-real photons. An optical theorem is used to evaluate the asymmetry in terms of the total photoproduction cross section on the proton, predicting its magnitude at a few parts per million for high electon beam energies and small scattering angles. At fixed 4-momentum transfers, the asymmetry is rising logarithmi…
We propose a new scenario to simultaneously explain a large lepton asymmetry and a small baryon asymmetry. We consider a rolling scalar field and its derivative coupling to the lepton number current. The presence of an effective nonzero time derivative of the scalar field leads to $CPT$ violation so that the lepton asymmetry can be generated even in thermal equilibrium as pointed out by Cohen and Kaplan. In this model, the lepton asymmetry varies with time. In particular, we consider the case where it grows with time. The final lepton asymmetry is determined by the decoupling of the lepton num…
The kinematical difference between the description of radiative effects for fixed $Q^2$ vs a fixed scattering angle in the elastic lepton-proton ($lp$)-scattering is discussed. The technique of calculation as well as explicit expressions for radiative corrections to the lepton current in unpolarized elastic $lp$-scattering for these two cases are presented without using an ultrarelativistic approximation. A comparative numerical analysis within kinematic conditions of Jefferson Lab measurements and MUSE experiment in PSI is performed.
We study the energy correlation of charged leptons produced in the decay of a heavy Higgs particle $H\to t\bar t\to bl^+ν_l\bar bl^-\barν_l$ and $H\to W^+W^-\to l^+ν_ll^-\barν_l.$ The possible influence of $CP$--violation in the $Ht\bar t$ and $HW^+W^-$ vertices on the energy spectrum of the secondary leptons is analyzed. The energy distribution of the charged leptons in the decay $H\to W^+W^-\to l^+ν_ll^-\barν_l$ is sensitive to the $CP$--parity of the Higgs particle and yields a simple criterion for distinguishing scalar Higgs from pseudoscalar Higgs.
We investigate the effect of the dimuon CP asymmetry from the B decay modes, recently observed at 3.2 sigma deviation from the Standard Model (SM) by the D0 collaboration, in the context of SU(5) and SO(10) GUT models. We exhibit that a large amount of flavor violation between the second and the third generation is generated due to the large neutrino atmospheric mixing angle and this flavor violation can be responsible for the observed large CP asymmetry due to the presence of new phases (not present in the CKM matrix) in the Yukawa couplings. We also study the implication of the parameter spa…
We study the model with three right-handed neutrinos which masses are smaller than the weak scale ${\cal O}(10^2)$ GeV (called as the $ν$MSM). The model can explain the origin of neutrino masses by the seesaw mechanism, offer a candidate of dark matter and realize the baryogenesis via neutrino oscillation. The seesaw mechanism at such energy scales can induce phenomenon which are observable by experiments. As an example, we discuss the lepton universality of charged kaon decays in this model. It is shown that the heavy neutral leptons accounting for the neutrino masses and the cosmic baryon as…
Lepton mass effects play a decisive role in description of elastic lepton-proton scattering when the beam's energy is comparable to the mass of the lepton. The future MUSE experiment, which is devised to solve the "Proton Radius Puzzle", is going to cover the corresponding kinematic region for a scattering of muons by a proton target. We anticipate that helicity-flip meson exchanges will make a difference in comparison of elastic electron-proton versus muon-proton scattering in MUSE. In this article, we estimate the $σ$ meson exchange contribution in the $t$-channel. This contribution, mediate…
We study the sensitivity of top pair production with six-fermion decay at the LHC to the presence and nature of an underlying Z' boson, accounting for full tree-level Standard Model ttbar interference, with all intermediate particles allowed off-shell. We concentrate on the lepton-plus-jets final state and simulate experimental conditions, including kinematic requirements and top quark pair reconstruction in the presence of missing transverse energy and combinatorial ambiguity in jet-top assignment. We focus on the differential mass spectra of the cross section and asymmetry observables, espec…
The magnitude of the double-spin asymmetry A_{NN} in polarized proton elastic scattering is estimated using results from an earlier determination of the spin-flip coupling of the leading Regge poles (cf. T.L.Trueman, Proceedings of the 16th International Spin Physics Symposium SPIN 2004, eds. F. Bradamante et al, World Scientific, 2005.) The required Regge cuts are estimated using the absorptive Regge model. This estimate is then used to determine the sensitivity of experiments at RHIC to the presence of the Odderon.
We propose a new mechanism for late cosmological baryon asymmetry in models with first order electroweak phase transition. Lepton asymmetry arises through the decay of particles produced out of equilbrium in bubble collisions and is converted into baryon asymmetry by sphalerons. Supersymmetric models with explicitly broken R-parity may provide a suiatble framework for the implementation of this mechanism.
