We investigate correlation functions for maximally symmetric boundary conditions in the WZNW model on GL(1|1). Special attention is payed to volume filling branes. Generalizing earlier ideas for the bulk sector, we set up a Kac-Wakimoto-like formalism for the boundary model. This first order formalism is then used to calculate bulk-boundary 2-point functions and the boundary 3-point functions of the model. The note ends with a few comments on correlation functions of atypical fields, point-like branes and generalizations to other supergroups.
The $G/G$ gauged supergroup valued WZNW theory is considered. It is shown that for $G=\OSP$, the $G/G$ theory tensoring a ($b$, $c$, $β$, $γ$) system is equivalent to the non-critical fermionic theory. The relation between integral or half integral moded affine superalgebra and its reduced theory, the NS or R superconformal algebra, is discussed in detail. The physical state space, i.e. the BRST semi-infinite cohomology, is calculated, for the $\OSP/\OSP$ theory.
We derive a relation between correlation functions of supergroup WZNW models and conformal field theories with extended superconformal symmetry. The supergroups considered have a bosonic subgroup of the form SL(2) x A for some Lie group A. The corresponding conformal field theory is a super Liouville field theory coupled with the WZNW model on A. An example is a correspondence between the PSU(1,1|2) WZNW model and small N=4 super Liouville field theory. The OSP(n|2) WZNW model is related to a superconformal field theory with SO(n) extended superconformal symmetry of the Knizhnik-Bershadsky typ…
We show that the WZNW model on the Lie supergroup GL(1|1) has super Poisson-Lie symmetry with the dual Lie supergroup B + A + A1;1|.i. Then, we discuss about D-branes and worldsheet boundary conditions on supermanifolds, in general, and obtain the algebraic relations on the gluing supermatrix for the Lie supergroup case. Finally, using the supercanonical transformation description of the super Poisson-Lie T-duality transformation, we obtain formula for the description of the dual gluing supermatrix, then, we find the gluing supermatrix for the WZNW model on GL(1|1) and its dual model. We also …
We investigate the relation between N=(2,2) superconformal Lie group WZNW models and Lie supergroup WZNW models. The B-twist of an exactly marginal perturbation of the world-sheet superconformal sigma model is the supergroup model. Moreover, the superconformal currents are expressed in terms of Lie superalgebra currents in the twisted theory. As applications, we find protected sectors and boundary actions in the supergroup sigma model. A special example is the relation between string theory on AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 in the RNS formalism and the U(1,1|2) x U(1|1) x U(1|1) supergroup WZNW model.
Extending our earlier work on PSL(2|2), we explain how to reduce the solution of WZNW models on general type I supergroups to those defined on the bosonic subgroup. The new analysis covers in particular the supergroups GL(M|N) along with several close relatives such as PSL(N|N), certain Poincare supergroups and the series OSP(2|2N). This remarkable progress relies on the use of a special Feigin-Fuchs type representation. In preparation for the field theory analysis, we shall exploit a minisuperspace analogue of a free fermion construction to deduce the spectrum of the Laplacian on type I super…
We prove that the wave vectors of the off-shell Bethe Ansatz equation for the inhomogeneous SU(2) lattice vertex model render in the quasiclassical limit the solution of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation.
We consider the free field approach or bosonization technique for the Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten model with arbitrary Kac-Moody algebra on Riemann surface of genus zero. This subject was much studied previously, and the paper can be partially taken as a brief survey. The way to obtain well-known Schechtman-Varchenko solutions of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations as certain correlators in free chiral theory is revisited. This gives rise to simple description of space of the WZNW conformal blocks. The general $N$-point correlators of the model are constructed from the conformal blocks using n…
In this thesis we initiate a systematic study of branes in Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten models with Lie supergroup target space. We start by showing that a branes' worldvolume is a twisted superconjugacy class and construct the action of the boundary WZNW model. Then we consider symplectic fermions and give a complete description of boundary states including twisted sectors. Further we show that the GL(1|1) WZNW model is equivalent to symplectic fermions plus two scalars. We then consider the GL(1|1) boundary theory. Twisted and untwisted Cardy boundary states are constructed explicitly and thei…
We propose exact formulas for the 2- and 3-point functions of the WZNW model on the non-compact supergroup OSP(1|2). Using the path integral approach that was recently developed in arXiv:0706.1030 we show how local correlation functions in the OSP(p|2) WZNW models can be obtained from those of N=p supersymmetric Liouville field theory for p=1,2. We then employ known results on correlators in N=1 Liouville theory to determine the structure constants of the OSP(1|2) theory.
There exists an intriguing relation between genus zero correlation functions in the H^+_3 WZNW model and in Liouville field theory. We provide a path integral derivation of the correspondence and then use our new approach to generalize the relation to surfaces of arbitrary genus g. In particular we determine the correlation functions of N primary fields in the WZNW model explicitly through Liouville correlators with N+2g-2 additional insertions of certain degenerate fields. The paper concludes with a list of interesting further extensions and a few comments on the relation to the geometric Lan…
We review the Coulomb gas computation of three-point functions in the SL(2,R) WZNW model and obtain explicit expressions for generic states. These amplitudes have been computed in the past by this and other methods but the analytic continuation in the number of screening charges required by the Coulomb gas formalism had only been performed in particular cases. After showing that ghost contributions to the correlators can be generally expressed in terms of Schur polynomials we solve Aomoto integrals in the complex plane, a new set of multiple integrals of Dotsenko-Fateev type. We then make use …
We study spectral flow preserving four-point correlation functions in the AdS3-WZNW model using the Coulomb gas method on the sphere. We present a multiple integral realization of the conformal blocks and explicitly compute amplitudes involving operators with quantized values of the sum of their spins, i.e., requiring an integer number of screening charges of the first kind. The result is given as a sum over the independent configurations of screening contours yielding a monodromy invariant expansion in powers of the worldsheet moduli. We then examine the factorization limit and show that the …
Motivated by a careful analysis of the Laplacian on the supergroup $SU(2|1)$ we formulate a proposal for the state space of the $SU(2|1)$ WZNW model. We then use properties of $\hat{sl}(2|1)$ characters to compute the partition function of the theory. In the special case of level $k=1$ the latter is found to agree with the properly regularized partition function for the continuum limit of the integrable $sl(2|1) 3-\bar{3}$ super-spin chain. Some general conclusions applicable to other WZNW models (in particular the case $k=-1/2$) are also drawn.
We compute three-point functions for the $SL(2,\mathbb R)$-WZNW model. After reviewing the case of the two-point correlator, we compute spectral flow preserving and nonpreserving correlation functions in the space-time picture involving three vertex operators carrying an arbitrary amount of spectral flow. When only one or two insertions have nontrivial spectral flow numbers, the method we employ allows us to find expressions without any constraint on the spin values. Unlike these cases, the same procedure restrains the possible spin configurations when three vertices belong to nonzero spectral…
We present a complete solution of the WZW model on the supergroup GL(1|1). Our analysis begins with a careful study of its minisuperspace limit (``harmonic analysis on the supergroup''). Its spectrum is shown to contain indecomposable representations. This is interpreted as a geometric signal for the appearance of logarithms in the correlators of the full field theory. We then discuss the representation theory of the gl(1|1) current algebra and propose an Ansatz for the state space of the WZW model. The latter is established through an explicit computation of the correlation function. We show …
In this article we investigate the structure of the four-point functions of the $AdS_3$-WZNW model. We consider the integral expression for the unflowed four-point correlator involving at least one state in the discrete part of the spectrum derived by analytic continuation from the $H_3^+$-WZNW model and we show that the conformal blocks can be obtained from those with an extremal-weight state by means of an intertwining operator. We adapt the procedure for dealing with correlators with a single unit of spectral flow charge and we get a factorized integral expression for the corresponding four…
According to the work of Berkovits, Vafa and Witten (hep-th/9902098), the non-linear sigma model on the supergroup PSU(1,1|2) is the essential building block for string theory on AdS(3)xS(3)xT(4). Models associated with a non-vanishing value of the RR flux can be obtained through a psu(1,1|2) invariant marginal deformation of the WZNW model on PSU(1,1|2). We take this as a motivation to present a manifestly psu(1,1|2) covariant construction of the model at the Wess-Zumino point, corresponding to a purely NSNS background 3-form flux. At this point the model possesses an enhanced psu(1,1|2) curr…
We extend the results of arXiv:1401.1645 on the generalized conformal Sp(2n)-structure of infinite multiplets of higher spin fields, formulated in spaces with extra tensorial directions (hyperspaces), to the description of OSp(1|2n)-invariant infinite-dimensional higher-spin supermultiplets formulated in terms of scalar superfields on flat hyper-superspaces and on OSp(1|n) supergroup manifolds. We find generalized superconformal transformations relating the superfields and their equations of motion in flat hyper-superspace with those on the OSp(1|n) supermanifold. We then use these transformat…
We study a class of solutions to the SL(2,R)_k Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation. First, logarithmic solutions which represent four-point correlation functions describing string scattering processes on three-dimensional Anti-de Sitter space are discussed. These solutions satisfy the factorization ansatz and include logarithmic dependence on the SL(2,R)-isospin variables. Different types of logarithmic singularities arising are classified and the interpretation of these is discussed. The logarithms found here fit into the usual pattern of the structure of four-point function of other examples of …
We continue the study of hidden Z_2 symmetries of the four-point sl(2)_k Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation iniciated in hep-th/0508019. Here, we focus our attention on the four-point correlation function in those cases where one spectral flowed state of the sector w=1 is involved. We give a formula that shows how this observable can be expressed in terms of the four-point function of non spectral flowed states. This means that the formula holding for the winding violating four-string scattering processes in AdS_3 has a simple expression in terms of the one for the conservative case, generalizing…
