Using variational cluster approach, we study influence of frustration and dimensionality on magnetic properties in the ground state of Hubbard model on a stacked square lattice in the large $U$ region (U/t=10), by changing the next-nearest-neighbor hopping, $t^{\prime}$, and the interlayer hopping, $t_{\perp}$. For small $t_{\perp}<t^{\ast}_{\perp}$ with $t^{\ast}_{\perp}/t{\approx}0.44$, antiferromagnetic long-range order appears at small $t^{\prime}<t^{\prime}_{c_{1}}$, and collinear magnetic long-range order at large $t^{\prime}>t^{\prime}_{c_{2}}$. They are separated by a paramagnetic Mott insulating state which appears in the parameter region $t^{\prime}_{c_{1}}<t^{\prime}<t^{\prime}_{c_{2}}$. For large $t_{\perp}>t^{\ast}_{\perp}$, the paramagnetic Mott insulating state disappears and a direct transition between antiferromagnetic state and collinear magnetic state occurs at $t^{\prime}=t^{\prime}_{c_{3}}$. We also find that the transition from the antiferromagnetic state to the paramagnetic Mott insulating state is of the second-order and that from the collinear magnetic state to the paramagnetic Mott insulating or the antiferromagnetic state is of the first-order.
We study multilayer triangular lattice Ising antiferromagnets with interlayer interactions that are weak and frustrated in an abc stacking. By analysing a coupled height model description of these systems, we show that they exhibit a classical spin liquid regime at low temperature, in which both intralayer and interlayer correlations are strong but there is no long range order. Diffuse scattering in this regime is concentrated on a helix in reciprocal space, as observed for charge-ordering in the materials LuFe$_2$O$_4$ and YbFe$_2$O$_4$.
The magnetic properties and Mott transition of the half-filled Hubbard model on the 1/5 depleted square lattice with frustration is studied at zero temperature by the variational cluster approximation. The $(π,π)$ Néel ordering (AF) is stable in a wide region of the phase diagram and almost completely veils the non-magnetic Mott transition for the unfrustrated case. However, AF is severely suppressed by the frustration and even with moderate frustrations the non-magnetic Mott transition takes place in the range where the intra-dimer hoppings are larger than the intra-plaquette hoppings.
We examine the optical conductivity σ(ω) and the chemical potential μ, together with the spin correlation, in the strong-coupling limit of a hole-doped two-dimensional triangular Hubbard model near half filling by using an exact diagonalization technique. In contrast to the case of a square lattice without frustration, the doping dependences of μand the Drude weight indicate that the charge degree of freedom is weakly coupled to the spin degree of freedom. However, we find that σ(ω) shows strong incoherent excitations extended to a higher energy region. This implies that geometrical frustratio…
We study the ground state properties of the geometrically frustrated Hubbard model on the anisotropic checkerboard lattice with nearest-neighbor hopping $t$ and next nearest-neighbor hopping $t'$. By using the path-integral renormalization group method, we study the phase diagram in the parameter space of the Hubbard interaction $U$ and the frustration-control parameter $t'/t$. Close examinations of the effective hopping, the double occupancy, the momentum distribution and the spin/charge correlation functions allow us to determine the phase diagram at zero temperature, where the plaquette-sin…
The small-cluster exact-diagonalization calculations and the projector quantum Monte Carlo method are used to examine the competing effects of geometrical frustration and interaction on ferromagnetism in the Hubbard model on the Shastry-Sutherland lattice. It is shown that the geometrical frustration stabilizes the ferromagnetic state at high electron concentrations ($n \gtrsim 7/4$), where strong correlations between ferromagnetism and the shape of the noninteracting density of states are observed. In particular, it is found that ferromagnetism is stabilized only for these values of frustrati…
The magnetic correlation in the Hubbard model on a two-dimensional anisotropic triangular lattice is studied by using the determinant quantum Monte Carlo method. Around half filling, it is found that the increasing frustration $t'/t$ could change the wave vector of maximum spin correlation along ($π,π$)$\rightarrow$($π,\frac{5π}{6}$)$\rightarrow$($\frac{5π}{6},\frac{5π}{6}$)$\rightarrow$ ($\frac{2π}{3},\frac{2π}{3}$), indicating the frustration's remarkable effect on the magnetism. In the studied filling region <n>=1.0-1.3, the doping behaves like some kinds of {\it{frustration}}, which destro…
We study the geometrical frustration of extended Hubbard model on diamond chain, where vertical lines correspond to the hopping and repulsive Coulomb interaction terms between sites, while the rest of them represent only the Coulomb repulsion one. The phase diagrams at zero temperature show quite curious phases: five types of frustrated states and four types of non-frustrated ones, ordered antiferromagnetically. Although decoration transformation was derived to spin coupling systems, this approach can be applied to electron coupling ones. Thus the extended Hubbard model can be mapped onto anot…
The perfect-nesting instability towards antiferromagnetism of the Hubbard model is suppressed by next-nearest neighbor hopping t'. The exact asymptotic behavior of the critical coupling U_c(t') at small t' is calculated in dimensions d=2,3 and infinity using Hartree theory, and the order of the transition is determined. A region of stability of a metallic antiferromagnetic phase in d=3 is identified.
The magnon propagator is evaluated in the AF (π,π,π) and the F-AF (0,π,π) states at the RPA level, and the spin-fluctuation corrections are compared. Transverse spin fluctuations are sharply enhanced by the frustration- inducing NNN hopping t', reducing the zero-temperature AF order in two dimensions, and the Neel temperature in three dimensions. The phase boundary between the insulating AF and F-AF states is obtained in the full range of interaction strength, indicating that the AF state is interestingly stabilized with decreasing U.
Evolution of the magnetic response function in the triangular-lattice Hubbard model is studied with interaction strength within a systematic inverse-degeneracy expansion scheme which incorporates self-energy and vertex corrections and explicitly preserves the spin-rotation symmetry. It is shown that at half filling the response function goes through a nearly dispersionless regime around K for intermediate coupling strength, before undergoing an inversion at strong coupling, resulting in maximum response at the K point, consistent with the expected 120^o AF instability. Effects of finite hole/e…
We consider the thermodynamic properties of the quasi-two-dimensional spin-half Heisenberg ferromagnet on the stacked square and the stacked kagomé lattices by using the spin-rotation-invariant Green's function method. We calculate the critical temperature $T_C$, the uniform static susceptibility $χ$, the correlation lengths $ξ_ν$ and the magnetization $M$ and investigate the short-range order above $T_C$. We find that $T_C$ and $M$ at $T>0$ are smaller for the stacked kagomé lattice which we attribute to frustration effects becoming relevant at finite temperatures.
Spin waves in the type-III ordered antiferromagnetic state of the frustrated $t$-$t'$ Hubbard model on the fcc lattice are calculated to investigate finite-$U$-induced competing interaction and frustration effects on magnetic excitations and instabilities. Particularly strong competing interactions generated due to interplay of fcc lattice geometry and magnetic order result in significant spin wave softening. The calculated spin wave dispersion is found to be in qualitative agreement with the measured spin wave dispersion in the pyrite mineral $\rm Mn S_2$ obtained from inelastic neutron scatt…
The magnetic properties and Mott transition of the Hubbard model on the square lattice with frustration are studied at half-filling and zero temperature by the variational cluster approximation. When the on-site repulsion $U$ is large, magnetically disordered state is realized in highly frustrated region between the Néel and collinear phases, and no imcommensurate magnetic states are found there. As for the Mott transition, in addition to the Mott gap and double occupancy, which clarify the nature of the transition, the structure of the self-energy in the spectral representation is studied in …
The two-orbital Hubbard model on a square lattice at quarter filling (electron number per site $n=1$) is investigated by the variational Monte Carlo method. For the variational wave function, we include short-range doublon-holon binding factors. We find that the energy of this wave function is lower than that of the density-density Jastrow wave function partially including long-range correlations used in a previous study. We introduce frustration to the model by the next-nearest-neighbor hopping $t'$ in addition to the nearest-neighbor hopping $t$. For $t'=0$, a ferromagnetic state with stagge…
We investigate the finite temperature properties of the half filled Hubbard model in two dimensions, with onsite interaction ($U$), in presence of (frustrating) next nearest neighbor hopping ($t^{\prime}$) using a semiclassical approximation scheme. We show that introduction of $t^{\prime}$ results in a finite temperature pseudogapped (PG) phase that separates the small $U$ Fermi liquid and large $U$ Mott insulator. We map out the PG to normal metal crossover temperature scale ($T^*$) as a function of $U$ and $t^\prime$. We demonstrate that in the PG phase, the quadratic dependence of resistiv…
By using a state of art tensor network state method, we study the ground-state phase diagram of an extended Bose-Hubbard model on the square lattice with frustrated next-nearest neighboring tunneling. In the hardcore limit, tunneling frustration stabilizes a peculiar half supersolid (HSS) phase with one sublattice being superfluid and the other sublattice being Mott Insulator away from half filling. In the softcore case, the model shows very rich phase diagrams above half filling, including three different types of supersolid phases depending on the interaction parameters. The considered model…
We explore the effects of geometric frustration within a one-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model using a chain of rhombi subject to a magnetic flux. The competition of tunnelling, self-interaction and magnetic flux gives rise to the emergence of a pair-superfluid (pair-Luttinger liquid) phase besides the more conventional Mott-insulator and superfluid (Luttinger liquid) phases. We compute the complete phase diagram of the model by identifying characteristic properties of the pair-Luttinger liquid phase such as pair correlation functions and structure factors and find that the pair-Luttinger liquid …
Recent quantum-gas microscopy of ultracold atoms and scanning tunneling microscopy of the cuprates reveal new detailed information about doped Mott antiferromagnets, which can be compared with calculations. Using cellular dynamical mean-field theory, we map out the antiferromagnetic (AF) phase of the two-dimensional Hubbard model as a function of interaction strength $U$, hole doping $δ$ and temperature $T$. The Néel phase boundary is non-monotonic as a function of $U$ and $δ$. Frustration induced by second-neighbor hopping reduces Néel order more effectively at small $U$. The doped AF is stab…
Mechanisms of Mott transitions and dx2-y2-wave superconductivity (SC) are studied in the half-filled-band Hubbard model on square lattices with a diagonal hopping term (t'), using an optimization (or correlated) variational Monte Carlo method. In the trial wave functions, a doublon-holon binding effect is introduced in addition to the onsite Gutzwiller projection. We mainly treat a d-wave singlet state and a projected Fermi sea. In both wave functions, first-order Mott transitions without direct relevance to magnetic orders take place at U=Uc approximately of the bandwidth for arbitrary t'/t. …
We investigate the Hubbard model on the anisotropic triangular lattice by means of the cellular dynamical mean field theory. The phase diagram determined in the Hubbard interaction versus temperature plane shows novel reentrant behavior in the Mott transition due to the competition between Fermi-liquid formation and magnetic correlations under geometrical frustration. We demonstrate that the reentrant behavior is characteristic of the Mott transition with intermediate geometrical frustration and indeed consistent with recent experimental results of organic materials.
Using a combination of quantum Monte Carlo simulations, functional renormalization group calculations and mean-field theory, we study the Hubbard model on the Bernal-stacked honeycomb bilayer at half-filling as a model system for bilayer graphene. The free bands consisting of two Fermi points with quadratic dispersions lead to a finite density of states at the Fermi level, which triggers an antiferromagnetic instability that spontaneously breaks sublattice and spin rotational symmetry once local Coulomb repulsions are introduced. Our results reveal an inhomogeneous participation of the spin mo…
The Hubbard model on the Kagomé lattice is investigated in a metallic phase at half-filling. By introducing anisotropic electron hopping on the lattice, we control geometrical frustration and clarify how the lattice geometry affects physical properties. By means of the fluctuation exchange (FLEX) approximation, we calculate the spin and charge susceptibilities, the one-particle spectral function, the quasi-particle renormalization factor, and the Fermi velocity. It is found that geometrical frustration of the Kagomé lattice suppresses the instability to various ordered states through the stron…
We study XXZ Heisenberg models on frustrated triangular lattices wrapped around a cylinder. In addition to having interesting magnetic phases, these models are equivalent to Bose-Hubbard models that describe the physical problem of adsorption of noble gases on the surface of carbon nanotubes. We find analytical results for the possible magnetization plateau values as a function of the wrapping vectors of the cylinder, which in general introduce extra geometric frustration besides the one due to the underlying triangular lattice. We show that for particular wrapping vectors $(N,0)$, which corre…
Spontaneous charge ordering occurring in correlated systems may be considered as a possible route to generate effective lattice structures with unconventional couplings. For this purpose we investigate the phase diagram of doped extended Hubbard models on two lattices: (i) the honeycomb lattice with on-site $U$ and nearest-neighbor $V$ Coulomb interactions at $3/4$ filling ($n=3/2$) and (ii) the triangular lattice with on-site $U$, nearest-neighbor $V$, and next-nearest-neighbor $V'$ Coulomb interactions at $3/8$ filling ($n=3/4$). We consider various approaches including mean-field approximat…
We theoretically investigate the effects of the lattice geometry on the nonequilibrium dynamics of photo-excited carriers in a half-filled two-dimensional Hubbard model. Using a nonequilibrium generalization of the dynamical cluster approximation, we compare the relaxation dynamics in lattices which interpolate between the triangular lattice and square lattice configuration and thus reveal the role of the geometric frustration in these strongly correlated nonequilibrium systems. In particular, we show that the cooling effect resulting from the disordering of the spin background is less effecti…
Mott transition and ferrimagnetism are studied in the Hubbard model on the anisotropic kagomé lattice using the variational cluster approximation and the phase diagram at zero temperature and half-filling is analyzed. The ferrimagnetic phase rapidly grows as the geometric frustration is relaxed, and the Mott insulator phase disappears in moderately frustrated region, showing that the ferrimagnetic fluctuations stemming from the relaxation of the geometric frustration is enhanced by the electron correlations. In metallic phase, heavy fermion behavior is observed and mass enhancement factor is c…
We study the phase transition behavior of a frustrated Heisenberg model on a stacked triangular lattice by Monte Carlo simulations. The model has three types of interactions: the ferromagnetic nearest-neighbor interaction $J_1$ and antiferromagnetic third nearest-neighbor interaction $J_3$ in each triangular layer and the ferromagnetic interlayer interaction $J_\perp$. Frustration comes from the intralayer interactions $J_1$ and $J_3$. We focus on the case that the order parameter space is SO(3)$\times C_3$. We find that the model exhibits a first-order phase transition with breaking of the SO…
The Hubbard model with geometrical frustration is investigated in a metallic phase close to half-filling. We calculate the single particle spectral function for the triangular lattice within dynamical cluster approximation, which is further combined with non-crossing approximation and fluctuation exchange approximation to treat the resulting cluster Anderson model. It is shown that frustration due to non-local correlations suppresses short-range antiferromagnetic fluctuations and thereby assists the formation of heavy quasi-particles near half-filling.
Like the twisting control in magic angle twisted bilayer graphenes, the stacking control is another mechanical approach to manipulate the fundamental properties of solids, especially the van der Waals materials. We explore the stacking-induced magnetic frustration and the spiral spin liquid on a multilayer triangular lattice antiferromagnet where the system is built from ABC stacking with competing intralayer and interlayers couplings. By combining the nematic bond theory and the self-consistent Gaussian approximation, we establish the phase diagram for this ABC-stacked multilayer magnet. It i…
Neutron scattering measurements on powder NaNiO2 reveal magnetic Bragg peaks and spin waves characteristic of strongly correlated s=1/2 magnetic moments arranged in ferromagnetic layers which are stacked antiferromagnetically. This structure lends itself to stacking sequence frustration in the presence of mixing between nickel and alkali metal sites, possibly providing a natural explanation for the enigmatic spin glass state of the isostructural compound, LiNiO2.
The highly frustrated Heisenberg antiferromagnet on Checkerboard and Pyrochlore lattices is subject to strong quantum fluctuations. This problem is amenable to the Contractor Renormalization (CORE) algorithm, which systematically computes the effective interactions in a basis of local cluster eigenstates. CORE was recently used to derive the Plaquette Boson-Fermion model for the square lattice Hubbard model (cond-mat/0108087). For the spin half Checkerboard and Pyrochlore cases, we find singlet ground states which break lattice symmetry, and a gap to spin one excitations. The low excitations a…
Based on the ladder dual-fermion approach, we present a comprehensive study of the phases of the isotropic Hubbard model on the triangular lattice. We find a rich phase diagram containing most of the phases that have already been experimentally observed in systems where the interplay between geometric frustration and electronic correlations is important: paramagnetic metal, paramagnetic insulator, Mott-insulator with $120^{\circ}$ antiferromagnetic and a non-magnetic insulating state, i.e. possibly a spin liquid state. This establishes that the Hubbard model on frustrated lattices can serve as…
Effect of geometrical frustration in strongly-correlated metallic region is studied for the Hubbard model on the kagome lattice at half filling by a cluster extension of the dynamical mean-field theory combined with a continuous-time auxiliary-field quantum Monte Carlo method. We find that the electron correlation enhances the spin chirality in both vector and scalar channels. The chirality grows as decreasing temperature and exhibits a peak at a low temperature, indicating a new energy scale under strong correlation. The peak temperature is considerably lower than that for the local spin mome…
We investigate the Hubbard model on two typical frustrated lattices in two dimensions, the kagome lattice and the anisotropic triangular lattice, by means of the cellular dynamical mean field theory. We show that the metallic phase is stabilized up to fairly large Hubbard interactions under strong geometrical frustration in both cases, which results in heavy fermion behavior and several anomalous properties around the Mott transition point. In particular, for the anisotropic triangular lattice, we find novel reentrant behavior in the Mott transition in the moderately frustrated parameter regim…
Effects of interlayer coupling and spatial anisotropy on spin-wave excitation spectra of a three-dimensional spatially anisotropic, frustrated spin-$\half$ Heisenberg antiferromagnet (HAFM) is investigated for the two ordered phases using second-order spin-wave expansion. We show that the second-order corrections to the spin-wave energies are significant and find that the energy spectra of the three-dimensional HAFM shares similar qualitative features with the energy spectra of the two-dimensional HAFM on a square lattice. We also discuss the features that can provide experimental measures for…
We report the emergence or broadening of exotic magnetic metallic phases upon explicit breaking of $SU(2)$ symmetry by introduction of mass imbalance in a variant of Hubbard model, known as the ionic Hubbard model in the presence of frustration at half-filling on a square lattice. The ionic Hubbard model has in addition to hopping($\sim t$) and onsite coulomb repulsion ($\sim U$), a staggered ionic potential ($\sim Δ$) which breaks translational symmetry of the underlying lattice. In the low to intermediate ranges of $U$ and $Δ$, we use unrestricted Hartree-Fock theory to construct the phase d…
The Mott-Hubbard metal-insulator transition in the paramagnetic phase of the one-band Hubbard model has long been used to describe similar features in real materials like V$_2$O$_3$. Here we show that this transition is hidden inside a rather robust antiferromagnetic insulator even in the presence of comparatively strong magnetic frustration. This result raises the question of the relevance of the Mott-Hubbard metal-insulator transition for the generic phase diagram of the one-band Hubbard model.
We employ the Hartree-Fock approximation to identify the magnetic ground state of the Hubbard model on a frustrated square lattice. We investigate the phase diagram as a function of the Coulomb repulsion's strength $U$, and the ratio $t'/t$ between the nearest and next nearest neighbor hoppings $t$ and $t'$. At half-filling and for a sufficiently large $U$, an antiferromagnetic chiral spin density wave order with nonzero spin chirality emerges as the ground state in a wide regime of the phase diagram near $t'/t=1/\sqrt{2}$, where the Fermi surface is well-nested for both $(π,π)$ and $(π,0)/(0,…
We study the Mott transition in Hubbard models with a degenerate band on different 3-dimensional lattices. While for a non-degenerate band only the half-filled system may exhibit a Mott transition, with degeneracy there can be a transition for any integer filling. We analyze the filling dependence of the Mott transition and find that $U_c$ (the Hubbard interaction $U$ at which the transition takes place) decreases away from half-filling. In addition we can change the lattice structure of the model. This allows us to study the influence of frustration on the Mott transition. We find that frustr…
The role of frustration and interaction strength on the half-filled Hubbard model is studied on the square lattice with nearest and next-nearest neighbour hoppings t and t' using the Variational Cluster Approximation (VCA). At half-filling, we find two phases with long-range antiferromagnetic (AF) order: the usual Neel phase, stable at small frustration t'/t, and the so-called collinear (or super-antiferromagnet) phase with ordering wave-vector $(π,0)$ or $(0,π)$, stable for large frustration. These are separated by a phase with no detectable long-range magnetic order. We also find the d-wave …
We discuss a physical mechanism of a non-BCS nature which can stabilize a superconducting state in a {\it strongly repulsive} electronic system. By considering the two-dimensional Hubbard model with spatially modulated electron hoppings, we demonstrate how kinetic-energy frustration can lead to robust d-wave superconductivity at {\it arbitrarily} large on-site repulsion. This phenomenon should be observable in experiments using fermionic atoms, e.g. ${}^{40}K$, in specially prepared optical lattices.
We study the low-energy properties of the geometrically frustrated Hubbard model on a three-dimensional pyrochlore lattice and a two-dimensional checkerboard lattice on the basis of the renormalization group method and mean field analysis. It is found that in the half-filling case, a (semi-)metal to insulator transition (MIT) occurs. Also, in the insulating phase, which has a spin gap, the spin rotational symmetry is not broken, while charge ordering exists. The results are applied to the description of the MIT observed in the pyrochlore system ${\rm Tl_2Ru_2O_7}$.
Groundstate magnetism of the one-band Hubbard model on the frustrated square lattice where both nearest-neighbour $t_1$ and next-nearest-neighbour $t_2$ hoppings are considered at half-filling are revisited within mean field approximation. Two new magnetic phases are detected at intermediate strength of Hubbard $U$ and relative strong frustration of $t_2/t_1$, named double-stripe and plaquette antiferromagnetic states, both of which are metallic and stable even at finite temperature and electron doping. The nature of the phase transitions between different phases and the properties of the two …
Recently, it has become possible to tune optical lattices continuously between square and triangular geometries. We compute thermodynamics and spin correlations in the corresponding Hubbard model using determinant quantum Monte Carlo and show that the frustration effects induced by the variable hopping terms can be clearly separated from concomitant bandwidth changes by a proper rescaling of the interaction. An enhancement of the double occupancy by geometric frustration signals the destruction of nontrivial antiferromagnetic correlations at weak coupling and entropy $s\lesssim \ln(2)$ (and re…
Based on dynamical cluster approximation (DCA) quantum Monte Carlo simulations, we study the interaction-driven Mott metal-insulator transition (MIT) in the half-filled Hubbard model on the anisotropic two-dimensional triangular lattice, where the degree of frustration is varied between the unfrustrated case and the fully frustrated, isotropic triangular lattice. Upon increasing the DCA cluster size, we analyze the evolution of the MIT phase boundary as a function of frustration in the phase diagram spanned by the interaction strength and temperature, and provide a quantitative description of …
We demonstrate a robust frustration-driven charge-order to superconductivity transition in the half-filled negative-U extended Hubbard model. Superconductivity extends over a broad region of the parameter space. We argue that the model provides the correct insight to understanding unconventional superconductivity in the organic charge-transfer solids and other quarter-filled systems.
We report exact calculations of magnetic and superconducting pair-pair correlations for the half-filled band Hubbard model on an anisotropic triangular lattice. Our results for the magnetic phases are similar to those obtained with other techniques. The superconducting pair-pair correlations at distances beyond nearest neighbor decrease monotonically with increasing Hubbard interaction U for all anisotropy, indicating the absence of frustration-driven superconductivity within the model.
Magnetic phase diagram of a spatially anisotropic, frustrated spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a stacked square lattice is investigated using second-order spin-wave expansion. The effects of interlayer coupling and the spatial anisotropy on the magnetic ordering of two ordered ground states are explicitly studied. It is shown that with increase in next nearest neighbor frustration the second-order corrections play a significant role in stabilizing the magnetization. We obtain two ordered magnetic phases (Neel and stripe) separated by a paramagnetic disordered phase. Within second-order s…
Frustration and quantum entanglement are two exotic quantum properties in quantum many-body systems. However, despite several efforts, an exact relation between them remains elusive. In this work, we explore the relationship between frustration and quantum entanglement in a physical model describing strongly correlated ultracold bosonic atoms in optical lattices. In particular, we consider the one-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model comprising both nearest-neighbor ($t_{1}$) and frustrated next-nearest neighbor ($t_{2}$) hoppings and examine how the interplay of onsite interaction ($U$) and hopping…
Tight-binding model of the AA-stacked bilayer graphene with screened electron-electron interactions has been studied using the Hybrid Monte Carlo simulations on the original double-layer hexagonal lattice. Instantaneous screened Coulomb potential is taken into account using Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation. G-type antiferromagnetic ordering has been studied and the phase transition with spontaneous generation of the mass gap has been observed. Dependence of the antiferromagnetic condensate on the on-site electron-electron interaction is examined.
We study novel electronic properties of the Hubbard model on a triangular lattice using the cellular dynamical mean-field theory. The interplay of strong geometric frustration and electron correlations causes a Mott transition at the Hubbard interaction $U/t=10.5$ and an unusual suppression of low energy spin excitations. Doping of a triangular Mott insulator leads to a quasiparticle peak (no pseudogap) at the Fermi surface and to an unexpected increase of low energy spin excitations, in stark contrast to the unfrustrated square lattice case. The present results give much insight into strongly…
We study the magnetic phase diagram of two coupled mixed-spin $(1,{1/2})$ Heisenberg chains as a function of the frustration parameter related to diagonal exchange couplings. The analysis is performed by using spin-wave series and exact numerical diagonalization techniques. The obtained phase diagram--containing the Luttinger liquid phase, the plateau phase with a magnetization per rung $M=1/2$, and the fully polarized phase--is closely related to the generic $(J/U,μ/U)$ phase diagram of the one-dimensional boson Hubbard model.
