We measure the ttbar production cross section in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV in the lepton+jets channel. Two complementary methods discriminate between signal and background, b-tagging and a kinematic likelihood discriminant. Based on 0.9 fb-1 of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, we measure sigma_ttbar=7.62+/-0.85 pb, assuming the current world average m_t=172.6 GeV. We compare our cross section measurement with theory predictions to determine a value for the top quark mass of 170+/-7 GeV.
We present a measurement of the $\ttbar$ differential cross section with respect to the $\ttbar$ invariant mass, dSigma/dMttbar, in $\ppbar$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV using an integrated luminosity of $2.7\invfb$ collected by the CDF II experiment. The $\ttbar$ invariant mass spectrum is sensitive to a variety of exotic particles decaying into $\ttbar$ pairs. The result is consistent with the standard model expectation, as modeled by \texttt{PYTHIA} with \texttt{CTEQ5L} parton distribution functions.
The ttbar spin correlation at production is a fundamental prediction of QCD and a potentially incisive test of new physics coupled to top quarks. We measure the ttbar spin state in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV using 1001 candidate events in the lepton plus jets decay channel reconstructed in the CDF II detector. In the helicity basis, for a top-quark mass of 172.5 GeV/c^2, we find a spin correlation coefficient kappa = 0.60 +/- 0.50 (stat) +/- 0.16 (syst), consistent with the QCD prediction, kappa ~= 0.40.

We select events in the dilepton final states ee, emu and mumu based on kinematical properties consistent with ttbar events. For a top quark mass of 175 GeV, we measure a top pair production cross section sigma(ttbar) = 8.6 +3.2-2.7 (stat) +/-1.1 (syst) +/-0.6 (lumi) pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction.
We present a measurement of the ttbar production cross section sigma(ttbar) in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV using 5.4 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector. The measured cross section is sigma(ttbar)= 7.36 +0.90-0.79 (stat + syst) pb. This result combined with the cross section measurement in the lepton + jets final state yields sigma(ttbar)=7.56 +0.63-0.56 (stat + syst) pb, which agrees with the standard model expectatio…
We analyze a sample of W + jet events collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV to study ttbar production. We employ a simple kinematical variable "H", defined as the scalar sum of the transverse energies of the lepton, neutrino and jets. For events with a W boson and four or more jets, the shape of the "H" distribution deviates by 3.8 standard deviations from that expected from known backgrounds to ttbar production. However this distribution agrees well with a linear combination of background and ttbar events, the agreement being best for …

Using a 197 +/- 12 pb-1 data sample recorded by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab, we use two complementary techniques to select candidate events. We compare the number of observed events and selected kinematical distributions with the predictions of the Standard Model and find good agreement. The combined result of the two techniques yields a ttbar production cross section of 7.0 +2.4/-2.1(stat.) +1.6/-…

This analysis uses 405 pb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Fully hadronic ttbar decays with final states of six or more jets are separated from the multijet background using secondary vertex tagging and a neural network. The ttbar cross section is measured as sigma(ttbar)=4.5 -1.9 +2.0 (stat) -1.1 +1.4 (syst) +/- 0.3 (lumi) pb for a top quark mass of m(t) = 175 GeV/c^2.
In this paper we report a measurement of the ttbar production cross section in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.2fb-1 collected with the CDF II detector at the Tevatron accelerator. We select events with significant missing transverse energy and high jet multiplicity. This measurement vetoes the presence of explicitly identified electrons and muons, thus enhancing the tau contribution of ttbar decays. Signal events are discriminated from the background using a neural network, and heavy flavor jets are identified by a secondary-verte…

We consider final states where the W bosons from top quark and antiquark decays both decay into l nu (l=e, mu) resulting in oppositely charged dilepton final states with accompanying jets. Using 9.7 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector, we find the asymmetries in lepton pseudorapidity compatible with predictions based on the standard model.

We present a measurement of the ttbar pair production cross section in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV utilizing approximately 425 pb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector. We consider decay channels containing two high pT charged leptons (either e or μ) from leptonic decays of both top-daughter W bosons. These were gathered using four sets of selection criteria, three of which required that a pair of fully identified leptons (i.e., eμ, ee, or μμ) be found. The fourth approach imposed less restrictive criteria on one of the lepton candidates and required that at least one hadronic je…
We report a measurement of the ttbar production cross section using the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The data consist of events with an energetic electron or muon, missing transverse energy, and three or more hadronic jets, at least one of which is identified as a b-quark jet by reconstructing a secondary vertex. The background fraction is determined from a fit of the transverse energy of the leading jet. Using 162+-10 /pb of data, the total cross section is found to be 6.0+-1.6(stat.)+-1.2(syst.) pb, which is consistent with the Standard Model prediction.

We present the result of a search for a massive color-octet vector particle, (e.g. a massive gluon) decaying to a pair of top quarks in proton-antiproton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. This search is based on 1.9 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected using the CDF detector during Run II of the Tevatron at Fermilab. We study $t\bar{t}$ events in the lepton+jets channel with at least one $b$-tagged jet. A massive gluon is characterized by its mass, decay width, and the strength of its coupling to quarks. Two recent measurements by the D0 Collaboration of spin correlation in ttbar production using 5.4 fb^-1 of Tevatron ppbar collider data are presented. Both rely on the dilepton final state of ttbar. One measurement relies on full reconstruction of the top quark kinematics, and the other makes use of leading-order matrix elements to characterize the kinematics. The latter measurement is the first ever to have sufficient analyzing power to exclude the no-correlation hypothesis.
We present measurements of the tWb coupling form factors using information from electroweak single top quark production and from the helicity of W bosons from top quark decays in ttbar events. We set upper limits on anomalous tWb coupling form factors using data collected with the D0 detector at the Tevatron ppbar collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb^-1.
We use higher-order quantum chromodynamics calculations to extract the mass of the top quark from the ttbar cross section measured in the lepton+jets channel in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV using 5.3 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The extracted top quark pole mass and MSbar mass are compared to the current Tevatron average top quark mass obtained from direct measurements.
We study momentum distributions of the final-state charged lepton in ppbar/pp --> ttbar --> l^+ X (l=e or mu) at hadron colliders, i.e., Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in order to explore possible new-physics effects in the top-quark sector. Assuming general model-independent ttbar g + ttbar gg and tbW interactions beyond the standard model, we first derive analytical formulas for the corresponding parton-parton processes. We then compute the lepton angular, energy and transverse-momentum distributions in ppbar/pp collisions to clarify how they are affected by those anomalous couplin…

These measurements use data collected by the D0 experiment in Run II of Fermilab's Tevatron ppbar Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb$^{-1}$. The results are compared …
We describe a search for evidence of minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) in 92.7 pb^(-1) of data collected with the DØdetector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar collider at center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV. Events with a single electron, four or more jets, and large missing transverse energy were used in this search. The major backgrounds are from W+jets, misidentified multijet, ttbar, and WW production. We observe no excess above the expected number of background events in our data. A new limit in terms of mSUGRA model parameters is obtained.

For a top quark mass of 170 GeV, we obtain sigma_ttbar=8.18^{+0.98}_{-0.87} pb. In addition, the ratios of ttbar cross sections in different final states are used to set upper limits on the branching fractions B(t -> H^{+}b -> tau nu b) and B(t -> H^{+}b -> c sbar b) as a function of charged Higgs boson mass. We present the first exclusive observation of the ttbar to hadronic tau + jets decay channel. Using these events from 1.96 TeV ppbar collisions at CDF, we measure the ttbar cross section as well as the top quark mass. Events require a single hadronic tau, large missing transverse energy, and exactly 4 jets of which at least one must be tagged as a b jet. The cross section measurement is extracted from a Poisson likelihood function based on the observed number of events and the predicted number of signal and background events for a given ttbar cross section. The mass is extracted from a likelih…

Combining the two distributions and correcting for detector acceptance we obtain the forward-backward asymmetry A^l_FB = (5.…
A search for a high mass ttbar resonance in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV at the LHC is presented. We search for such a resonance using the final state where the $W$ bosons from the top quark decay into either an electron or a muon (dilepton final state). The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment during 2011 and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of L = 1.04 fb^-1. No statistically significant excess above the Standard Model expectation is observed. Upper limits at the 95% Confidence Level (C.L.) are set on the cross section times branching ratio of the resonance decaying to t…
We report on a search for charge-1/3 third-generation leptoquarks (LQ) produced in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV using the D0 detector at Fermilab. Third generation leptoquarks are assumed to be produced in pairs and to decay to a tau neutrino and a b quark with branching fraction B. We place upper limits on sigma(ppbar->LQLQbar)*B^2 as a function of the leptoquark mass M_{LQ}. Assuming B=1, we exclude at the 95% confidence level third-generation scalar leptoquarks with M_{LQ} < 229 GeV.
We search for resonant production of tt pairs in 4.8 fb^{-1} integrated luminosity of ppbar collision data at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV in the lepton+jets decay channel, where one top quark decays leptonically and the other hadronically. A matrix element reconstruction technique is used; for each event a probability density function (pdf) of the ttbar candidate invariant mass is sampled. These pdfs are used to construct a likelihood function, whereby the cross section for resonant ttbar production is estimated, given a hypothetical resonance mass and width. The data indicate no evidence of resonant pro…
We present a measurement of the ttbar production cross section in ppbar collisions at root(s) = 1.8TeV by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. The measurement is based on data from an integrated luminosity of approximately 125 pb^-1 accumulated during the 1992-1996 collider run. We observe 39 ttbar candidate events in the dilepton and lepton+jets decay channels with an expected background of 13.7+-2.2 events. For a top quark mass of 173.3GeV/c^2, we measure the ttbar production cross section to be 5.5+-1.8 pb.
We present results of a search in 929 pb-1 of ppbar collisions at 1.96 TeV for the anomalous production of events containing a charged lepton (electron or muon) and a photon, both with high transverse momentum, accompanied by additional signatures, X, including missing transverse energy and additional leptons and photons. We use the same selection criteria as in the previous CDF Run I search, but with an order-magnitude larger data set, a higher ppbar collision energy, and the CDF II detector.
