We report on a search for large extra dimensions in a data sample of approximately 1 fb^{-1} of ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV. We investigate Kaluza-Klein graviton production with a photon and missing transverse energy in the final state. At the 95% C.L. we set limits on the fundamental mass scale M_{D} from 884 GeV to 778 GeV for two to eight extra dimensions.
Results are presented for the search for new physics in the monojet plus missing transverse energy channel using pp collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1. The number of observed events is found to be in good agreement with Standard Model predictions and limits are placed on parameters in the framework of the ADD model and unparticles.
The ATLAS detector has been used to search for high-mass states decaying into a single high momentum lepton and missing transverse energy, such as new heavy charged gauge bosons. The latest search results for a W Prime boson decaying to lepton plus neutrino in 1.04 fb^-1 of proton-proton collisions at a center of mass energy of 7 TeV produced at the Large Hadron Collider are presented.
Final state signatures of a single photon and missing transverse energy offer unique and powerful advantages in the search for new physics. This document presents the first observation of the Zgamma to nunu_bargamma process at the Tevatron Collider at 5.1 standard deviations significance, as well as some of the strongest limits on anomalous trilinear ZZgamma and Zgammagamma couplings to date. Additionally, we present the latest D0 results on a search for direct production of Kaluza Klein gravitons in association with single photons.
We present results of a signature-based search for new physics using a dijet plus missing transverse energy data sample collected in 2 fb-1 of p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe no significant event excess with respect to the standard model prediction and extract a 95% C.L. upper limit on the cross section times acceptance for a potential contribution from a non-standard model process. Based on this limit the mass of a first or second generation scalar leptoquark is constrained to be above 187 GeV/c^2.
We have performed a search for gluinos ($\gls$) and squarks ($\sq$) in a data sample of 84 pb$^{-1}$ of \ppb collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.8 TeV, recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab, by investigating the final state of large missing transverse energy and 3 or more jets, a characteristic signature in R-parity-conserving supersymmetric models. The analysis has been performed `blind', in that the inspection of the signal region is made only after the predictions from Standard Model backgrounds have been calculated. Comparing the data with predictions of constrained supersymmetric models,…
The generic missing transverse energy signals at LHC for theories having large extra dimensions are discussed. Final states of jets plus missing energy and photons plus missing energy are simulated in the ATLAS detector. The discovery limit of LHC and the methods to determine the parameters of the underlying model are discussed.
Searches for supersymmetric particles in channels with one or more photons and missing energy have been performed with data collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP. The data consist of 11.1 pb-1 at $\sqrt{s} = 161 GeV$, 1.1 pb-1 at 170 GeV and 9.5 pb-1 at 172 GeV. The e+e- -> nunu+photon cross section is measured. The data are in good agreement with predictions based on the Standard Model, and are used to set upper limits on the cross sections for anomalous photon production. These limits are compared to two different SUSY models and used to set limits on the neutralino mass. A limit of 71 GeV/…
The ATLAS detector is used to search for high-mass states, such as heavy charged gauge bosons (W', W*) decaying to a charged lepton (electron or muon) and a neutrino. Results are presented based on the analysis of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1. No excess beyond standard model expectations is observed. A W' with sequential standard model couplings is excluded at 95% confidence level for masses below 1.49 TeV, and a W*(charged chiral boson) for masses below 1.47 TeV.
The high mass spectrum of lepton and photon pairs is sensitive to a broad array of new physics. Examples include searches for extra dimensions in the dielectron and diphoton channels. A direct search for electron compositeness is possible in the production of excited electrons decaying into an electron and a photon. In addition, the electron plus missing transverse energy data sample can be searched for a W' boson. Latest results in searches in the high mass dielectron, diphoton, electron plus photon, and electron plus missing transverse energy channels obtained by the D0 experiment at the Tev…
We present the searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) in two channels, two photons plus missing transverse energy and a photon plus a lepton plus missing transverse energy with the CMS detector using approximately 36 $\rm{pb}^{-1}$ of pp collision at 7 TeV. No excess of events above the standard model predictions is found. Limits are set for the squark, gluino and wino masses in the general gauge-mediated SUSY context.
Results are presented for a search for dark matter at the LHC using the signatures of a monojet plus missing transverse energy and a monophoton plus missing transverse energy. The data were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC with pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 5 inverse femtobarns. In the absence of an excess of events in the data compared to the Standard Model prediction, limits are set on the dark matter-nucleon scattering cross section which can be directly compared with bounds from the direct detection experiments.
We study the pair production of scalar top-quark partners decaying to a top-quark pair plus large missing energy at the LHC, a signature which appears in numerous models that address outstanding problems at the TeV-scale. The severe experimental search cuts require a description which combines higher-order corrections to both production and decay dynamics for a realistic final state. We do this at next-to-leading order in QCD for the first time. We find large, kinematic-dependent QCD corrections that differ dramatically depending upon the observable under consideration, potentially impacting t…
Jets plus missing transverse energy is one of the main search channels for new physics at the LHC. A major limitation lies in our understanding of QCD backgrounds. Using jet merging we can describe the number of jets in typical background channels in terms of a staircase scaling, including theory uncertainties. The scaling parameter depends on the particles in the final state and on cuts applied. Measuring the staircase scaling will allow us to also predict the effective mass for Standard Model backgrounds. Based on both observables we propose an analysis strategy avoiding model specific cuts …
A search for pair production of a scalar partner of the top quark in events with four or more jets plus missing transverse momentum is presented. An analysis of 36.1 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s}$=13 TeV proton-proton collisions collected using the ATLAS detector at the LHC yields no significant excess over the expected Standard Model background. To interpret the results a simplified supersymmetric model is used where the top squark is assumed to decay via $\tilde{t}_1 \rightarrow t^{(*)} \tildeχ^0_1$ and $\tilde{t}_1\rightarrow b\tildeχ^\pm_1 \rightarrow b W^{(*)} \tildeχ^0_1$, where $\tildeχ^0_1$ (…
We show that the signature of two boosted $W$-jets plus large missing energy is very promising to probe heavy charged resonances ($X^\pm$) through the process of $pp\to X^+X^-\to W^+W^- X^0 X^0$ where $X^0$ denotes dark matter candidate. The hadronic decay mode of the $W$ boson is considered to maximize the number of signal events. When the mass split between $X^\pm$ and $X^0$ is large, one has to utilize the jet-substructure technique to analyze the boosted $W$-jet. For illustration we consider the process of chargino pair production at the LHC, i.e., $pp\to χ_1^+χ^-_1 \to W^+W^-χ_1^0χ_1^0$, …
A search for physics beyond the standard model (SM) in final states with an electron or muon and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis uses data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016-2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb$^{-1}$. No significant deviation from the SM prediction is observed. Model-independent limits are set on the production cross section of W' bosons decaying into lepton-plus-neutrino final states. Within the framework of the sequential standard model, with th…
The $t\bar t$ plus missing energy channel is one of the most efficient to detect third-generation leptoquarks (LQs). It offers an important test to models which explain flavor anomalies in $B$ meson decays. We outline a search strategy in the channel, relying on tagging the tops and on observables constructed out of the tops, and we assess the reach on LQs of the future high-luminosity LHC program. We find that with 3 ab$^{-1}$ a vector (scalar) LQ decaying 50% (100%) to top and neutrino can be excluded up to masses of 1.96 TeV (1.54 TeV). We also indicate several observables that, in case of …
We report a search for single top quark production with the CDF II detector using 2.1 fb-1 of integrated luminosity of pbar p collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. The data selected consist of events characterized by large energy imbalance in the transverse plane and hadronic jets, and no identified electrons and muons, so the sample is enriched in W -> tau nu decays. In order to suppress backgrounds, additional kinematic and topological requirements are imposed through a neural network, and at least one of the jets must be identified as a b-quark jet. We measure an excess of signal-like events in a…
The mono-jet search, looking for events involving missing transverse energy (MET) plus one or two jets, is the most prominent collider dark matter search. We show that multi-jet searches, which look for MET plus two or more jets, are significantly more sensitive than the mono-jet search for pseudoscalar- and scalar-mediated interactions. We demonstrate this in the context of a simplified model with a pseudoscalar interaction that explains the excess in GeV energy gamma rays observed by the Fermi Large Area Telescope. We show that multi-jet searches already constrain a pseudoscalar interpretati…
The polarization of a top quark can be sensitive to new physics beyond the standard model. Since the charged lepton from top quark decay is maximally correlated with the top quark spin, it is common to measure the polarization from the distribution in the angle between the charged lepton and the top quark directions. We propose a novel method based on the charged lepton energy fraction and illustrate the method with a detailed simulation of top quark pairs produced in supersymmetric top squark pair production. We show that the lepton energy ratio distribution that we define is very sensitive t…
Results are presented from a search for new physics in the final state containing a photon and missing transverse energy. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 inverse femtobarns collected in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV by the CMS experiment. The observed event yield agrees with standard-model expectations for the photon-plus-missing-transverse-energy events. Using models for production of dark-matter particles (chi), we set 90% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits of 13.6--15.4 femtobarns on chi production in the photon-plus-missing-transverse-energy state. These provide…
The decay $b\to sν\barν$ has been a neglected sibling of $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ because neutrinos pass undetected and hence the process offers less number of observables. We show how the decay $b\to s~+$~invisible(s) can shed light, even with a limited number of observables, on possible new physics beyond the Standard Model and also show, quantitatively, the reach of future $B$ factories like SuperBelle to uncover such new physics. Depending on the operator structure of new physics, different channels may act as the best possible probe. We show, using the Optimal Observable technique, how almost…
We report results from searches for supersymmetry with trileptons plus missing transverse energy and diphotons plus missing transverse energy made using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. These searches are optimized for MSSM SUSY and GMSB, respectively. New limits are set on the considered SUSY models. This article is the proceedings for a parallel talk given at ICHEP08.
A search for direct pair production of scalar partners of the top quark (top squarks or scalar third-generation up-type leptoquarks) in the all-hadronic $t\bar{t}$ plus missing transverse momentum final state is presented. The analysis of 139 fb$^{-1}$ of ${\sqrt{s}=13}$ TeV proton-proton collision data collected using the ATLAS detector at the LHC yields no significant excess over the Standard Model background expectation. To interpret the results, a supersymmetric model is used where the top squark decays via $\tilde{t} \to t^{(*)} \tildeχ^0_1$, with $t^{(*)}$ denoting an on-shell (off-shell…
We perform a detailed study of top-quark partner production in the ttbar plus large missing energy final-state at the LHC, presenting results for both scalar and fermionic top-quark partners in the semi-leptonic and dileptonic decay modes of the top quarks. We compare the results of several simulation tools: leading-order matrix elements, next-to-leading order matrix elements, leading-order plus parton shower simulations, and merged samples that contain the signal process with an additional hard jet radiated. We find that predictions from leading-order plus parton shower simulations can signif…
Search for dark photons from Higgs boson decays via $ZH$ production with a photon plus missing transverse momentum signature from $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
We present the results of a search for new physics in the jets plus missing transverse energy data sample collected from 368 pb^{-1} of ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We compare the number of events observed in the data with a data-based estimate of the Standard Model backgrounds contributing to this signature. We observe no significant excess of events, and we interpret this null result in terms of lower limits on the fundamental Planck scale for a large extra dimensions scenario.
Events collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) with an energetic jet plus large missing transverse energy can be used to search for physics beyond the Standard Model. We see no deviations from the expected background and set upper limits on the production of new processes. We consider in addition the production of light gravitinos within the framework of the Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking models and set a limit at 95% confidence level on the breaking scale sqrt(F) >= 217 GeV, which excludes gravitino masses smaller than 1.1x10^-5 eV/c^2.
The production of a neutral and a charged vector boson with subsequent decays into three charged leptons and a neutrino is a very important process for precision tests of the Standard Model of elementary particles and in searches for anomalous triple-gauge-boson couplings. In this article, the first computation of next-to-leading-order electroweak corrections to the production of the four-lepton final states $μ^+μ^- e^+ ν_e$, $μ^+μ^- e^- \barν_e$, $μ^+μ^- μ^+ν_μ$, and $μ^+μ^- μ^- \barν_μ$ at the Large Hadron Collider is presented. We use the complete matrix elements at leading and next-to-lead…

EUROPEAN ORGANISATION FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH (CERN)(欧洲核子研究中心(CERN))
We present the results of searches for large extra dimensions in samples of events with large missing transverse energy and either a photon or a jet produced in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector. For gamma + missing Et and jet + missing Et candidate samples corresponding to 2.0 fb^-1 and 1.1 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity respectively, we observe good agreement with standard model expectations and obtain a combined lower limit on the fundamental parameter of the large extra dimensions model, Md, as a function of the number of extra dimensions in the mod…
Traditional searches for SUSY at hadron colliders rely heavily on the presence of large missing transverse energy (ME_T) to reject background compared to signal. On the other hand, initial searches for new physics at the LHC may not be able to rely on ME_T due to a variety of detector calibration issues. We show that much of SUSY parameter space is accessible to discovery even {\it without} using ME_T, and with rather low integrated luminosities 0.1-1 fb^{-1}. A key role is played by isolated lepton multiplicity which arises from gluino and squark cascade decays. Requiring \ge 3 isolated lepto…
We present a measurement of the $\ttbar$ production cross section in $\ppbar$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV using events containing a high transverse momentum electron or muon, three or more jets, and missing transverse energy. Events consistent with $\ttbar$ decay are found by identifying jets containing candidate heavy-flavor semileptonic decays to muons. The measurement uses a CDF Run II data sample corresponding to $2 \mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ of integrated luminosity. Based on 248 candidate events with three or more jets and an expected background of $79.5\pm5.3$ events, we measure a producti…
We present a measurement of the $\ttbar$ production cross section using $194 \mathrm{pb^{-1}}$ of CDF II data using events with a high transverse momentum electron or muon, three or more jets, and missing transverse energy. The measurement assumes 100% $t\to Wb$ branching fraction. Events consistent with $\ttbar$ decay are found by identifying jets containing heavy flavor semileptonic decays to muons. The dominant backgrounds are evaluated directly from the data. Based on 20 candidate events and an expected background of 9.5$\pm$1.1 events, we measure a production cross section of $5.3\pm3.3^{…
We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson using hadronically decaying tau leptons, in 1 inverse femtobarn of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar collider. We select two final states: tau plus missing transverse energy and b jets, and tau+ tau- plus jets. These final states are sensitive to a combination of associated W/Z boson plus Higgs boson, vector boson fusion and gluon-gluon fusion production processes. The observed ratio of the combined limit on the Higgs production cross section at the 95% C.L. to the standard model expectation is 29 for a Hig…
We present a search for large extra dimensions (ED) in p-pbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1994-1996. Data corresponding to 78.8 +/- 3.9 pb^-1 are examined for events with large missing transverse energy, one high-p_T jet, and no isolated muons. With no excess beyond the background prediction from the standard model, we place limits on the fundamental Planck scale of 1 TeV (0.6 TeV) for 2 (7) ED.
We study models of gauge mediated SUSY breaking with more than one hidden sector. In these models the neutralino sector of the MSSM is supplemented with additional light neutral fermions, the nearly massless gravitino and the massive pseudo-goldstini. For the case where the Bino is the lightest ordinary SUSY particle, its preferred decay is to a photon and the heaviest pseudo-goldstino, which generically cascades down to lighter pseudo-goldstini, or to the gravitino, in association with photons. This gives rise to multiphoton plus missing energy signatures at the LHC. We investigate in detail …
Results of a search for new phenomena in events with an energetic photon and large missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV are reported. Data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb-1 are used. Good agreement is observed between the data and the Standard Model predictions. The results are translated into exclusion limits on models with large extra spatial dimensions and on pair production of weakly interacting dark matter candidates.
A search for new phenomena in events with a high-energy jet and large missing transverse momentum is performed using data from proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Four kinematic regions are explored using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 inverse femtobarn. No excess of events beyond expectations from Standard Model processes is observed, and limits are set on large extra dimensions and the pair production of dark matter particles.
We show that supersymmetric models with a large Dirac gluino mass can evade much of the jets plus missing energy searches at LHC. Dirac gaugino masses arise from "supersoft" operators that lead to finite one-loop suppressed contributions to the scalar masses. A little hierarchy between the Dirac gluino mass 5 - 10 times heavier than the squark masses is automatic and technically natural, in stark contrast to supersymmetric models with Majorana gaugino masses. At the LHC, colored sparticle production is suppressed not only by the absence of gluino pair (or associated) production, but also becau…
This article describes the search for pair production of scalar leptoquarks performed by the CMS collaboration using the data from the 2010 proton-proton run of the Large Hadron Collider at a center of mass energy of 7 TeV. The following final state signatures from the decay of a pair of scalar leptoquarks are described in here: the di-lepton plus jets final state (where the leptons are either both electrons or both muons) and the lepton plus jets and transverse missing energy final state (where the lepton is an electron).
Results are presented from a search for new physics in the final state containing a photon and missing transverse energy. The data corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb$^{-1}$ collected in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 7 TeV by the CMS experiment. The observed event yield agrees with standard model expectations. Using models for the production of dark matter particles($χ$), we set 90$% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits of 13.6-15.4 fb on $χ$ production in the $γ$+ $\met$ state. These provide the most sensitive upper limits for spin-dependent $χ$-nucleon scattering for \c{hi} mass…
Data taken by the DELPHI experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 183 GeV and 189 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 212 pb^{-1} have been used to search for the supersymmetric partners of the electrons, muons, and taus in the context of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The decay topologies searched for were the direct decay ({\tilde \ell} -> \ell {\tilde χ_1^0}), producing acoplanar lepton pairs plus missing energy, and the cascade decay ({\tilde \ell} -> \ell {\tilde χ_2^0} -> \ell γ{\tilde χ_1^0}), producing acoplanar lepton and photon pairs plus missing energy. The …
A search for new physics in events with two highly Lorentz-boosted Z bosons and large missing transverse momentum is presented. The analyzed proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb$^{-1}$, were recorded at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The search utilizes the substructure of jets with large radius to identify quark pairs from Z boson decays. Backgrounds from standard model processes are suppressed by requirements on the jet mass and the missing transverse momentum. No significant excess in the event yield is observed beyond…
The first search for supersymmetry from ATLAS with 70/nb of integrated luminosity extends the Tevatron' s reach for colored particles that decay into jets plus missing transverse energy. For gluinos that decay directly or through a one step cascade into the LSP and two jets, the mass range m_g < 205 GeV is disfavored by the ATLAS searches, regardless of the mass of the LSP. In some cases the coverage extends up to m_g ~ 295 GeV, already surpassing the Tevatron's reach for compressed supersymmetry spectra.
A possible solution to the hierarchy problem is the presence of extra spatial dimensions beyond the three ones which are known from our everyday experience. The phenomenological ADD model of large extra-dimensions predicts a missing transverse energy plus a single-jet signature. This contribution addresses the sensitivity of the CMS detector at the LHC pp collider to parameters of this model, focusing on the conditions expected for second half of 2010 running (sqrt(s) = 10 TeV, O(100) pb-1). It is shown that a significant improvement of the existing limits can be obtained in such an early stag…
The presence of extra dimensions can be probed in high energy collisions via the production or exchange of gravitons. The former corresponds to signatures with missing energy while the latter corresponds to modifications of the final state spectra. Here I review results of analyses performed by the CDF and D0 Collaborations on ppbar collisions at 1.96 TeV in signatures sensitive to large extra dimensions. These include analyses of photon+(missing transverse energy) and jet+(missing transverse energy) as signatures of graviton production as well as analyses of dilepton and diboson final states …
We consider the phenomenology of the decay of a Z boson into a photon and a Kaluza-Klein excitation of the graviton in the ADD model. Using LEP data, we obtain an upper bound on the branching ratio corresponding to this process of ~10^-11. We also investigate energy profiles of the process.
We present a search for large extra dimensions in the single photon plus missing transverse energy channel (Kaluza-Klein graviton production) performed using 2.7 fb-1 of data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. At 95% C.L., we set limits on the fundamental Planck scale M_{D} from 970 GeV to 816 GeV for two to eight extra dimensions.
A search has been performed, using the full 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ data sample of 8 TeV proton--proton collisions collected in 2012 with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, for photons originating from a displaced vertex due to the decay of a neutral long-lived particle into a photon and an invisible particle. The analysis investigates the diphoton plus missing transverse momentum final state, and is therefore most sensitive to pair-production of long-lived particles. The analysis technique exploits the capabilities of the ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter to make precise measurements of the flight directi…
We consider the spin determination of new colored particles in the missing energy plus jets channel at the early stage of LHC. We use a three site moose model to describe the low energy Lagrangian of all same spin partner (LHT or UED like) models and check the gauge invariance of the amplitude. For the benchmark production and decay channel $pp \rightarrow U^{(R)} U^{(R)} \rightarrow u u B_H B_H$, in contrast to those in supersymmetric models, there are spin correlations which affect the polar and azimuthal angle distributions of the quarks from the heavy partner $U^{(R)}$ decay. We show such …
A search for the exotic decay of the Higgs boson ($H$) into a $b\bar{b}$ resonance plus missing transverse momentum is described. The search is performed with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider using 139 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV. The search targets events from $ZH$ production in an NMSSM scenario where $H \rightarrow \tildeχ^{0}_{2}\tildeχ^{0}_{1}$, with $\tildeχ^{0}_{2} \rightarrow {a} \tildeχ^{0}_{1}$, where $a$ is a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson and $\tildeχ^{0}_{1,2}$ are the two lightest neutralinos. The decay of the $a$ boson into a pair …
We report a measurement of the top quark mass, m_t, obtained from ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron using the CDF II detector. We analyze a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.9 fb^-1. We select events with an electron or muon, large missing transverse energy, and exactly four high-energy jets in the central region of the detector, at least one of which is tagged as coming from a b quark. We calculate a signal likelihood using a matrix element integration method, with effective propagators to take into account assumptions on event kinematics. Our…
A search for new heavy particles that decay into top-quark pairs is performed using data collected from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The integrated luminosity of the data sample is 36.1 fb$^{-1}$. Events consistent with top-quark pair production are selected by requiring a single isolated charged lepton, missing transverse momentum and jet activity compatible with a hadronic top-quark decay. Jets identified as likely to contain $b$-hadrons are required to reduce the background from other Standard Model process…
We apply data taken at the $e^+e^-$ collider LEP in the 1990's at center-of-mass energy up to 209 GeV to constrain Dark Matter models with a light leptophobic spin-1 mediator $R$. We assume that the dark sector particle (DSP) is a spin-1/2 fermion $χ$. This scenario is well studied in the context of LHC searches for mediator mass from 100 GeV to several TeV. Emission of the mediator off a quark or antiquark at LEP gives rise to di-jet plus missing energy and 4-jet signatures, which we use to limit the relevant couplings. We focus on scenarios with $2 m_χ> m_R$, which are poorly constrained by …
We present search prospects and phenomenology of doubly resonant signals that come from the decay of a neutral weak-singlet color-octet vector state ω_8 into a lighter weak-triplet color-octet scalar π_8, which can arise in several theories beyond the Standard Model. Taking m_{ω_8}-m_{π_8}>m_W, we demonstrate an analysis of the signals pp \to ω_8 \to π^\pm_8 W^\mp (π^0_8 Z) \to g W^\pm W^\mp (g Z Z). The present 8 TeV LHC run is found to have the potential to exclude or discover the signal for a range of masses and parameters. The preferred search channel has a boosted W-tagged jet forming a r…
Single and multi-photon events with missing energy are analysed using data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at a centre-of-mass energy of 189 GeV, for a total of 176 pb^{-1} of integrated luminosity. The cross section of the process e+e- -> nu nu gamma (gamma) is measured and the number of light neutrino flavours is determined to be N_ν= 3.011 +/- 0.077 including lower energy data. Upper limits on cross sections of supersymmetric processes are set and interpretations in supersymmetric models provide improved limits on the masses of the lightest neutralino and the gravitino. Graviton-photo…
A search is presented for the pair production of heavy vector-like $B$ quarks, primarily targeting $B$ quark decays into a $W$ boson and a top quark. The search is based on $36.1$ $fb^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV recorded in 2015 and 2016 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Data are analysed in the lepton-plus-jets final state, characterised by a high-transverse-momentum isolated electron or muon, large missing transverse momentum, and multiple jets, of which at least one is $b$-tagged. No significant deviation from the Standard Model expectation is ob…
The CMS and ATLAS collaborations searched for Dark Matter (DM) particles directly produced in pair. The searches are performed using the full LHC Run-I dataset recorded with the CMS and ATLAS detectors in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. Signatures considered include those yielding energetic jets and large missing transverse momentum as well as electroweak bosons and heavy flavour quarks plus missing transverse energy. No deviation from SM background expectation was found and exclusion limits on DM production cross section were set.
