We prove that a holomorphic Lie algebroid is integrable if, and only if, its underlying real Lie algebroid is integrable. Thus the integrability criteria of Crainic-Fernandes do also apply in the holomorphic context without any modification. As a consequence we give another proof of the following theorem: a holomorphic Poisson manifold is integrable if, and only if, its real (or imaginary) part is integrable as a real Poisson manifold.
Complex Finsler vector bundles have been studied mainly by T. Aikou, who defined complex Finsler structures on holomorphic vector bundles. In this paper, we consider the more general case of a holomorphic Lie algebroid E and we introduce Finsler structures, partial and Chern-Finsler connections on it. First, we recall some basic notions on holomorphic Lie algebroids. Then, using an idea from E. Martinez, we introduce the concept of complexified prolongation of such an algebroid. Also, we study nonlinear and linear connections on the tangent bundle of E and on the prolongation of E and we inves…
The paper introduces Laplace-type operators for functions defined on the tangent space of a Finsler Lie algebroid, using a volume form on the prolongation of the algebroid. It also presents the construction of a horizontal Laplace operator for forms defined on the prolongation of the algebroid. All of the Laplace operators considered in the paper are also locally expressed using the Chern-Finsler connection of the algebroid.
A complex Lie algebroid is a complex vector bundle over a smooth (real) manifold M with a bracket on sections and an anchor to the complexified tangent bundle of M which satisfy the usual Lie algebroid axioms. A proposal is made here to integrate analytic complex Lie algebroids by using analytic continuation to a complexification of M and integration to a holomorphic groupoid. A collection of diverse examples reveal that the holomorphic stacks presented by these groupoids tend to coincide with known objects associated to structures in complex geometry. This suggests that the object integrating…
The main purpose of this note is the study of the total space of a holomorphic Lie algebroid $E$. The paper is structured in three parts. In the first section we briefly introduce basic notions on holomorphic Lie algebroids. The local expressions are written and the complexified holomorphic bundle is introduced. The second section is a little broader and includes two approaches to study the geometry of complex manifold $E.$ The first part contains the study of the tangent bundle $T_{C}E=T^{\prime }E\oplus T^{\prime \prime }E$ and its link, via tangent anchor map, with the complexified tangent …
We introduce the category of holomorphic string algebroids, whose objects are Courant extensions of Atiyah Lie algebroids of holomorphic principal bundles, as considered by Bressler, and whose morphisms correspond to inner morphisms of the underlying holomorphic Courant algebroids in the sense of Severa. This category provides natural candidates for Atiyah Lie algebroids of holomorphic principal bundles for the (complexified) string group and their morphisms. Our main results are a classification of string algebroids in terms of Cech cohomology, and the construction of a locally complete famil…
In this paper, we investigate families of singular holomorphic Lie algebroids on complex analytic spaces. We introduce and study a special type of deformation called unfoldings of Lie algebroids, which generalizes the theory of singular holomorphic foliations developed by T. Suwa. We show that a one to one correspondence between transversal unfoldings and holomorphic flat connections on a natural Lie algebroid on the bases exists.
We study holomorphic Poisson manifolds and holomorphic Lie algebroids from the viewpoint of real Poisson geometry. We give a characterization of holomorphic Poisson structures in terms of the Poisson Nijenhuis structures of Magri-Morosi and describe a double complex which computes the holomorphic Poisson cohomology. A holomorphic Lie algebroid structure on a vector bundle $A\to X$ is shown to be equivalent to a matched pair of complex Lie algebroids $(T^{0,1}X,A^{1,0})$, in the sense of Lu. The holomorphic Lie algebroid cohomology of $A$ is isomorphic to the cohomology of the elliptic Lie alge…
We introduce the notion of skew-holomorphic Lie algebroid on a complex manifold, and explore some cohomologies theories that one can associate to it. Examples are given in terms of holomorphic Poisson structures of various sorts.
Hypercomplex structures on Courant algebroids unify holomorphic symplectic structures and usual hypercomplex structures. In this note, we prove the equivalence of two characterizations of hypercomplex structures on Courant algebroids, one in terms of Nijenhuis concomitants and the other in terms of (almost) torsionfree connections for which each of the three complex structures is parallel.
Cartan-Lie algebroids, i.e. Lie algebroids equipped with a compatible connection, permit the definition of an adjoint representation, on the fiber as well as on the tangent of the base. We call (positive) quadratic Lie algebroids, Cartan-Lie algebroids with ad-invariant (Riemannian) metrics on their fibers and base $κ$ and $g$, respectively. We determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for a positive quadratic Lie algebroid to integrate to a Riemmanian Cartan-Lie groupoid. Here we mean a Cartan-Lie groupoid $\mathcal{G}$ equipped with a bi-invariant and inversion invariant metric $η$ o…
We associate a Lie $\infty$-algebroid to every resolution of a singular foliation, where we consider a singular foliation as a locally generated $\mathscr{O}$-submodule of vector fields on the underlying manifold closed under Lie bracket. Here $\mathscr{O}$ can be the ring of smooth, holomorphic, or real analytic functions. The choices entering the construction of this Lie $\infty$-algebroid, including the chosen underlying resolution, are unique up to homotopy and, moreover, every other Lie $\infty$-algebroid inducing the same foliation or any of its sub-foliations factorizes through it in an…
We deal with smooth real manifolds as well as complex analytic manifolds as well. It is well known that the concept of star product is powerful enough to produce all Poisson structures on real manifolds. According to [BdM] it is not known whether holomorphic star products exist on complex analytic manifolds. The main purpose of this paper is to show that the concept of homology of Koszul-Vinberg algebroids on smooth (resp. complex analytic) manifolds is an effective tool to produce smooth (resp complex analytic) Poisson structures on smooth (resp. complex analytic) manifolds. We also study som…
We show that the path construction integration of Lie algebroids by Lie groupoids is an actual equivalence from the category of integrable Lie algebroids and complete Lie algebroid comorphisms to the category of source 1-connected Lie groupoids and Lie groupoid comorphisms. This allows us to construct an actual symplectization functor in Poisson geometry. We include examples to show that the integrability of comorphisms and Poisson maps may not hold in the absence of a completeness assumption.
We introduce logarithmic Picard algebroids, a natural class of Lie algebroids adapted to a simple normal crossings divisor on a smooth projective variety. We show that such algebroids are classified by a subspace of the de Rham cohomology of the divisor complement determined by its mixed Hodge structure. We then solve the prequantization problem, showing that under the appropriate integrality condition, a log Picard algebroid is the Lie algebroid of symmetries of what is called a meromorphic line bundle, a generalization of the usual notion of line bundle in which the fibres degenerate along t…
The solution of the Calabi Conjecture by Yau implies that every Kähler Calabi-Yau manifold $X$ admits a metric with holonomy contained in $\textrm{SU}(n)$, and that these metrics are parametrized by the positive cone in $H^{1,1}(X,\mathbb{R})$. In this work we give evidence of an extension of Yau's theorem to non-Kähler manifolds, where $X$ is replaced by a compact complex manifold with vanishing first Chern class endowed with a holomorphic Courant algebroid $Q$ of Bott-Chern type. The equations that define our notion of best metric correspond to a mild generalization of the Hull-Strominger sy…
We shall prove that a moduli space of flat irreducible Lie algebroid connections over a compact manifold has locally a natural structure of a smooth differentiable space. This is a generalization of some well known results for the moduli space of holomorphic structures on a complex vector bundle over a compact complex manifold.
We construct an infinite-dimensional symplectic 2-groupoid as the integration of an exact Courant algebroid. We show that every integrable Dirac structure integrates to a "Lagrangian" sub-2-groupoid of this symplectic 2-groupoid. As a corollary, we recover a result of Bursztyn-Crainic-Weinstein-Zhu that every integrable Dirac structure integrates to a presymplectic groupoid.
This paper studies linear generalised complex structures over vector bundles, as a generalised geometry version of holomorphic vector bundles. In an adapted linear splitting, a linear generalised complex structure on a vector bundle $E\to M$ is equivalent to a $\mathbb C$-multiplication $j$ in the fibers of $TM\oplus E^*$ and $\mathbb C$-Lie algebroid structure on $TM\oplus E^*$. Generalised complex Lie algebroids (or Glanon algebroids) are then studied in this context, and expressed as a pair of complex conjugated Lie bialgebroids.
We introduce Courant algebroids, providing definitions, some historical notes, and some elementary properties. Next, we summarize basic properties of graded manifolds. Then, drawing on the work of Roytenberg and others, we introduce the graded or supergraded language demonstrating a cochain complex / cohomology for (general) Courant algebroids. We review spectral sequences and show how this tool is used to compute cohomology of regular Courant algebroids with a split base. Finally we analyze matched pairs of Courant algebroids including the complexified standard Courant algebroid of a complex …
In this paper, we describe an integration of exact Courant algebroids to symplectic 2-groupoids, and we show that the differentiation procedure from [26] inverts our integration.
In this note, we study the Koszul-Brylinski homology of holomorphic Poisson manifolds. We show that it is isomorphic to the cohomology of a certain smooth complex Lie algebroid with values in the Evens-Lu-Weinstein duality module. As a consequence, we prove that the Evens-Lu-Weinstein pairing on Koszul-Brylinski homology is nondegenerate. Finally we compute the Koszul-Brylinski homology for Poisson structures on $\CP^1\times\CP^1$.
We present Hausdorff versions for Lie Integration Theorems 1 and 2 and apply them to study Hausdorff symplectic groupoids arising from Poisson manifolds. To prepare for these results we include a discussion on Lie equivalences and propose an algebraic approach to holonomy. We also include subsidiary results, such as a generalization of the integration of subalgebroids to the non-wide case, and explore in detail the case of foliation groupoids.
We investigate when the Chevalley-Eilenberg differential of a complex Lie algebroid on a manifold with boundary admits a Hodge decomposition. We introduce the concepts of Cauchy-Riemann structures, elliptic and non-elliptic boundary points and Levi-forms, which we use to define the notion of q-convexity. We show that the Chevalley-Eilenberg complex of an elliptic, q-convex Lie algebroid admits a Hodge decomposition in degree q. This generalizes the well-known Hodge decompositions for the exterior derivative on real manifolds and the delbar-operator on q-convex complex manifolds. We establish t…
Given a representation up to homotopy of a Lie algebroid on a 2-term complex of vector bundles, we define the corresponding holonomy as a strict 2-functor from a Weinstein path 2-groupoid to the gauge 2-groupoid of the underlying 2-term complex. We construct a corresponding transformation 2-groupoid and we prove that the 1-truncation of this 2-groupoid is isomorphic to the Weinstein groupoid of the VB-algebroid associated to a representation up to homotopy. As applications, we describe alternative integration schemes for semi-direct products of Lie 2-algebras and string algebras.
We introduce the notion of Glanon groupoids, which are Lie groupoids equipped with multiplicative generalized complex structures. It combines symplectic groupoids, holomorphic Lie groupoids and holomorphic Poisson groupoids into a unified framework. Their infinitesimal, Glanon Lie algebroids are studied. We prove that there is a bijection between Glanon Lie algebroids and source-simply connected and source-connected Glanon groupoids. As a consequence, we recover various integration theorem and obtain the integration theorem for holomorphic Poisson groupoids.
The notions of holomorphic symplectic structures and hypercomplex structures on Courant algebroids are introduced and then proved to be equivalent. These generalize hypercomplex triples and holomorphic symplectic 2-forms on manifolds respectively. Basic properties of such structures are established.
We consider the problem of integration of L_\infty-algebroids (differential graded manifolds) to L_\infty-groupoids. We first construct a "big" Kan simplicial manifold (Fréchet or Banach) whose points are solutions of a (generalized) Maurer-Cartan equation. The main analytic trick in our work is an integral transformation sending the solutions of the Maurer-Cartan equation to closed differential forms. Following ideas of Ezra Getzler we then impose a gauge condition which cuts out a finite-dimensional simplicial submanifold. This "smaller" simplicial manifold is (the nerve of) a local Lie k-gr…
Lie algebroids can not always be integrated into Lie groupoids. We introduce a new object--``Weinstein groupoid'', which is a differentiable stack with groupoid-like axioms. With it, we have solved the integration problem of Lie algebroids. It turns out that every Weinstein groupoid has a Lie algebroid and every Lie algebroid can be integrated into a Weinstein groupoid.
Through the theory of Lie bi-algebroids and generalized complex structures, one could define a cohomology theory naturally associated to a holomorphic Poisson structure. It is known that it is the hypercohomology of a bi-complex such that one of the two operators is the classical $\overline{\partial}$-operator. Another operator is the adjoint action of the Poisson bivector with respect to the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. The hypercohomology is naturally computed by one of the two associated spectral sequences. In a prior publication, the author of this article and his collaborators investigated…
We provide a complete solution to the problem of extending a local Lie groupoid to a global Lie groupoid. First, we show that the classical Mal'cev's theorem, which characterizes local Lie groups that can be extended to global Lie groups, also holds in the groupoid setting. Next, we describe a construction that can be used to obtain any local Lie groupoid with integrable algebroid. Last, our main result establishes a precise relationship between the integrability of a Lie algebroid and the failure in associativity of a local integration. We give a simplicial interpretation of this result showi…
Shifted symplectic Lie and $L_\infty$ algebroids model formal neighbourhoods of manifolds in shifted symplectic stacks, and serve as target spaces for twisted variants of classical AKSZ topological field theory. In this paper, we classify zero-, one- and two-shifted symplectic algebroids and their higher gauge symmetries, in terms of classical geometric "higher structures", such as Courant algebroids twisted by $Ω^2$-gerbes. As applications, we produce new examples of twisted Courant algebroids from codimension-two cycles, and we give symplectic interpretations for several well known features …
We show that every Lie algebroid $A$ over a manifold $P$ has a natural representation on the line bundle $Q_A = \wedge^{top}A \otimes \wedge^{top} T^*P$. The line bundle $Q_A$ may be viewed as the Lie algebroid analog of the orientation bundle in topology, and sections of $Q_A$ may be viewed as transverse measures to $A$. As a consequence, there is a well-defined class in the first Lie algebroid cohomology $H^1(A)$ called the modular class of the Lie algebroid $A$. This is the same as the one introduced earlier by Weinstein using the Poisson structure on $A^*$. We show that there is a natural …
We study VB-groupoids and VB-algebroids, which are vector bundles in the realm of Lie groupoids and Lie algebroids. Through a suitable reformulation of their definitions, we elucidate the Lie theory relating these objects, i.e., their relation via differentiation and integration. We also show how to extend our techniques to describe the more general Lie theory underlying double Lie algebroids and LA-groupoids.
We study the extension of a Lie algebroid by a representation up to homotopy, including semidirect products of a Lie algebroid with such representations. The extension results in a higher Lie algebroid. We give exact Courant algebroids and string Lie 2-algebras as examples of such extensions. We then apply this to obtain a Lie 2-groupoid integration of an exact Courant algebroid.
In this paper we study the local description of spaces of forms on transitive Lie algebroids. We use this local description to introduce global structures like metrics, $\ast$-Hodge operation and integration along the algebraic part of the transitive Lie algebroid (its kernel). We construct a Čech-de Rham bicomplex with a Leray-Serre spectral sequence. We apply the general theory to Atiyah Lie algebroids and to derivations on a vector bundle.
The jet formalism for Classical Field theories is extended to the setting of Lie algebroids. We define the analog of the concept of jet of a section of a bundle and we study some of the geometric structures of the jet manifold. When a Lagrangian function is given, we find the equations of motion in terms of a Cartan form canonically associated to the Lagrangian. The Hamiltonian formalism is also extended to this setting and we find the relation between the solutions of both formalism. When the first Lie algebroid is a tangent bundle we give a variational description of the equations of motion.…
If $A$ is a Lie algebroid over a foliated manifold $(M,\mathcal{F})$, a foliation of $A$ is a Lie subalgebroid $B$ with anchor image $T\mathcal{F}$ and such that $A/B$ is locally equivalent with Lie algebroids over the slice manifolds of $\mathcal{F}$. We give several examples and, for foliated Lie algebroids, we discuss the following subjects: the dual Poisson structure and Vaintrob's super-vector field, cohomology and deformations of the foliation, integration to a Lie groupoid. In the last section, we define a corresponding notion of a foliation of a Courant algebroid $A$ as a bracket-close…
In this thesis we develop the notion of LA-Courant algebroids, the infinitesimal analogue of multiplicative Courant algebroids. Specific applications include the integration of q- Poisson (d, g)-structures, and the reduction of Courant algebroids. We also introduce the notion of pseudo-Dirac structures, (possibly non-Lagrangian) subbundles W \subseteq E of a Courant algebroid such that the Courant bracket endows W naturally with the structure of a Lie algebroid. Specific examples of pseudo-Dirac structures arise in the theory of q-Poisson (d, g)-structures.
In this note a functorial approach to the integration problem of an LA-groupoid to a double Lie groupoid is discussed. To do that, we study the notions of fibred products in the categories of Lie groupoids and Lie algebroids, giving necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such. In particular, it turns out, that the fibred product of Lie algebroids along integrable morphisms is always integrable by a fibred product of Lie groupoids. We show that to every LA-groupoid with integrable top structure one can associate a differentiable graph in the category of Lie groupoids, which is…
A generalized complex manifold which satisfies the $\partial \overline{\partial}$-lemma admits a Hodge decomposition in twisted cohomology. Using a Courant algebroid theoretic approach we study the behavior of the Hodge decomposition in smooth and holomorphic families of generalized complex manifolds. In particular we define period maps, prove a Griffiths transversality theorem and show that for holomorphic families the period maps are holomorphic. Further results on the Hodge decomposition for various special cases including the generalized Kähler case are obtained.
We give a direct, explicit and self-contained construction of a local Lie groupoid integrating a given Lie algebroid which only depends on the choice of a spray vector field lifting the underlying anchor map. This construction leads to a complete account of local Lie theory and, in particular, to a finite-dimensional proof of the fact that the category of germs of local Lie groupoids is equivalent to that of Lie algebroids.
