We calculate the next-to-next-to-leading order ${\cal O}(α_s^4)$ one-loop squared corrections to the production of heavy quark pairs in quark-antiquark annihilations. These are part of the next-to-next-to-leading order ${\cal O}(α_s^4)$ radiative QCD corrections to this process. Our results, with the full mass dependence retained, are presented in a closed and very compact form, in the dimensional regularization scheme. We have found very intriguing factorization properties for the finite part of the amplitudes.
We consider the radiation of two or more soft partons in QCD hard-scattering at one-loop order. The corresponding scattering amplitude is singular, and the singular behaviour is controlled by a process-independent soft current. Using regularization in $d=4 - 2ε$ space-time dimensions, we explicitly evaluate the ultraviolet and infrared divergent ($ε$-pole) terms of the one-loop soft current for emission of an arbitrary number of soft partons in a generic hard-scattering process. Then we consider the specific case of soft quark-antiquark ($q{\bar q}$) emission and we compute the one-loop curren…
Beyond the standard model, a static potential between quark pairs is obtained phenomenologically (QCD inspired), associated with the range of strong interaction, when the virtual exchange gluon squared momentum transfer has a periodicity for periodic boundary conditions of the quark-pair system enclosed by a constant volume, in the lowest order of the effective perturbed QCD (in which the gluon propagator is replaced by the effective gluon one). This potential includes a periodicity dependent effect, characterized by a finite face value of the periodicity $N$, in addition to the periodicity in…
We consider the radiation of a soft gluon ($g$) and a soft quark-antiquark ($q{\bar q}$) pair in QCD hard scattering. In the soft limit the scattering amplitude has a singular behaviour that is factorized and controlled by a soft current, which has a process-independent structure in colour space. We evaluate the soft $gq{\bar q}$ current at the tree level for an arbitrary multiparton scattering process. The irreducible correlation component of the current includes strictly non-abelian terms and also terms with an abelian character. Analogous abelian correlations appear for soft photon-lepton-a…
As a first step in the aim of arriving at a differential description of neutral Higgs boson decays into heavy quarks, $h \to Q {\bar Q}X$, to second order in the QCD coupling $α_S$, we have computed the $hQ{\bar Q}$ amplitude at the two-loop level in QCD for a general neutral Higgs boson which has both scalar and pseudoscalar couplings to quarks. This amplitude is given in terms of a scalar and a pseudoscalar vertex form factor, for which we present closed analytic expressions in terms of one-dimensional harmonic polylogarithms of maximum weight 4. The results hold for arbitrary four-momentum …
We present first results for the $2 \to 4$ single-parton scattering $g g \to c \bar c c \bar c$ subprocess for the first time fully within the $k_t$-factorization approach. In this calculation we have used the Kimber-Martin-Ryskin unintegrated gluon distribution which effectively includes some class of higher-order gluon emissions, and an off-shell matrix element squared calculated using recently developed techniques. The results are compared with our earlier result obtained within the collinear-factorization approach. Only slightly larger cross sections are obtained than in the case of the co…
In this paper the twist-3 distribution amplitude of the quark-antiquark-gluon Fock state in the η_c meson is studied. To calculate the moments of this distribution amplitude QCD sum rules is applied. Using the results of the calculation the model of this distribution amplitude is built. In addition NRQCD matrix elements which determine the properties of the quark-antiquark-gluon Fock state are determined. In particular, the probability amplitude to find the quark-antiquark pair in the color octet state, the mean gluon energy and the fraction of momentum carried by gluon, the relative velocity …
The amplitude of zero angle scattering of electron on photon in the 3-rd QED order of fine structure constant with $γ^*γ$ intermediate state converting into quark--antiquark is considered. Utilizing analytic properties of elastic photon--photon scattering amplitude an explicit expression for differential cross- section of quark--antiquark pair production at electron-photon collision in peripheral kinematics is derived apparently. Limiting case of small transferred momenta with an application of the Weizsäcker-Williams like relation gives the sum rule for photon target, bringing into the relati…

We calculate and analyze Z and W production in association with quark-antiquark pair in k_T-factorization. Numerical calculations are performed using the Monte Carlo generator CASCADE for proton proton collisions at LHC energy. We compare total and differential cross sections calculated in k_T-factorization approach with total differential cross sections obtained in LO and NLO calculations in collinear factorization approach. We provide strong evidence that some of the effects of the NLO and even higher order collinear calculation are already included in the LO k_T-factorization calculation.
I consider the behavior of the quark-antiquark potential, called the Cornell Potential, in a quark-gluon plasma. Since mesons are no longer bound in the quark-gluon plasma, there might be a relationship between the string tension of the quark-antiquark potential, the mass of the quark, and the coupling constant.
We calculate the high energy behavior of quark-antiquark exchange in $γ^* γ^*$ elastic scattering by summing, to all orders, the leading double logarithmic contributions of the QCD ladder diagrams. Motivation comes from the LEP data for $σ_{tot}^{γ^* γ^*}$ which indicate the need for secondary reggeon exchange. We show that, for large photon virtualities, this exchange is calculable in pQCD. This applies, in particular, to parts of the LEP kinematic region.
We describe the analytic calculation of the fermionic two-loop QCD corrections to the heavy-quark pair production process in the quark-antiquark channel.
In the high-temperature quark-gluon plasma and its subsequent hadronic matter created in a high-energy nucleus-nucleus collision, the quark-antiquark potential depends on the temperature. The temperature-dependent potential is expected to be derived from the free energy obtained in lattice gauge theory calculations. This requires one to study the relation between the quark-antiquark potential and the quark-antiquark free energy. When the system's temperature is above the critical temperature, the potential of a heavy quark and a heavy antiquark almost equals the free energy, but the potential …
Correlation of charm quark - charm antiquark in $γp$ scattering are calculated in the $k_t$-factorization approach. We apply different unintegrated gluon distributions (uGDF) used in the literature. The results of our calculations are compared with very recent experimental results from the FOCUS collaboration. The CCFM uGDF developed recently by Kwieciński et al. gives a good description of the data. New observables are suggested for future studies. Predictions and perspectives for the HERA energies are presented.
One can determine antiquark polarizations in proton using the information from deep inelastic scattering, $β$ decays of baryons, orbital angular momenta of quarks, as well as their integrated magnetic distributions. The last quantities were determined previously by us performing a fit to magnetic moments of baryon octet. However, because of the SU(3) symmetry our results depend on two parameters. The quantity $Γ_{V}$, measured recently in a COMPASS experiment, gives the relation between these parameters. We can fix the last unknown parameter using the ratio of up and down quark magnetic moment…
The dynamical picture of a quark-antiquark interaction in light mesons, which provides linearity of radial and orbital Regge trajectories (RT), is studied with the use of the relativistic string Hamiltonian with flattened confining potential and taking into account the self-energy and string corrections. Due to the flattening effect both slopes, $β_n$ of the radial and $β_l$ of the orbital RT, decrease by $\sim 30\%$ with the value of $β_n=1.30(5)$~GeV$^2$ being larger than $ β_l=0.95(5)$~GeV. The self-energy correction provides the linearity of RT and remains important up to very high excitat…
The quark-antiquark contribution to the BFKL kernel is calculated. Using the effective vertex for the $q\bar q$ pair production in the Reggeon-Reggeon collision we find this contribution by integrating the square of this vertex over relative transverse momenta and fractions of longitudinal momenta of produced particles.
We model the spectral effect of open flavor meson-meson thresholds in heavy quarkonia. The proposed energy dependent quark-antiquark static potential tries to incorporate in a quark model scheme the results from unquenched lattice calculations. A good qualitative and a reasonable quantitative description of charmonium and bottomonium, including the "new charmonium-like" states, is obtained.
We discuss exclusive central production of Higgs boson, quark-antiquark and digluon dijets. Several differential distributions are shown and disussed. Irreducible leading-order $b \bar b $ background to Higgs production is calculated in several kinematical variables. The signal-to-background ratio is shown and several improvements are suggested by imposing cuts on $b$ ($\bar b$) transverse momenta and rapidities. \
A general approach to accounting for retardation effects in the long-range (confining) part of the quark-antiquark potential is presented. The charmonium and bottomonium mass spectra are calculated with the systematic account of relativistic and retardation effects and the one-loop radiative corrections. A good fit to available experimental data on the mass spectra is obtained.
The fragmentation function of vector particle into possible bound S-wave states with a heavy antiquark is calculated in the leading order of perturbative QCD for the high energy processes at large transverse momenta with the different behaviour of anomalous chromomagnetic moment. One-loop equations are derived for the evolution of fragmentation function moments, which is caused by the emission of hard gluons by the vector particle. The integrated probabilities of fragmentation are given. The distribution of bound state over the transverse momentum with respect to the axis of fragmentation is c…
The total energy of a static quark-antiquark pair $E_{\rm tot}(r)=2m_{\rm pole}+V_{\rm QCD}(r)$ is known to be predictable up to ${\cal O}(Λ_{\rm QCD}^3 r^2)$ and ${\cal O}(\frac{Λ_{\rm QCD}^3}{\overline{m}^2})$ renormalon uncertainties in the large-$β_0$ approximation, after canceling ${\cal O}(Λ_{\rm QCD})$ renormalons. We compute the predictable part (genuine UV part) in terms of the $\overline{\rm MS}$ mass $\overline{m}$, extending a recently-proposed method which conforms with OPE. In particular the $r$-independent part is determined. The result would help understanding the nature of $E_…
The $t\bar{t}$ system allows a truly perturbative treatment of the potential. Completing previous computations, we calculate the contributions of QCD box graph corrections, which make the ``relativistic'' $O(\a^4)$ corrections in the non-Abelian case differ from the well known corrections of the same order in QED.
We calculate the quark-anti-quark contribution to the next-to-leading logarithmic corrections to the BFKL kernel, retaining the dependence on the momenta of the produced particles. This allows us to study the details of the NLL corrections. We demonstrate that the standard calculation of the NLL corrections to the scattering of two off-shell gluons includes contributions from energies far above that which is probed at LL. This explicitly violates energy and momentum conservation in the evolution and could be a source of the reported large NLL corrections. The presented calculation is a step to…
We briefly review theoretical calculations for the pseudoscalar-vector meson hyperfine splitting with no open flavor and also report a many body field theoretical effort to assess the impact of chiral symmetry in the choice of effective potentials for relativistic quark models. Our calculations predict the missing eta_b meson to have mass near 9400 $MeV$. The radial excitation $η_c(2S)$ is in agreement with the measurements of the BELLE and most recently BABAR collaborations.
We have completed the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ QCD corrections to exclusive heavy quark-antiquark distributions in deep inelastic electroproduction and present here the differential distributions in the masses of charm-anticharm and bottom-antibottom pairs at the electron-proton collider HERA.
The light quark-antiquark scattering Green's function is considered near a meson resonance peak. The Bethe-Salpeter equation is used to write formal expressions for the resonance width/mass ratio. Arguments are made concerning to what extent this ratio can be calculated perturbatively, and an upper bound is placed on the growth of this ratio as a function of radial excitation. Certain mesons and their radial excitations are considered, as well as the more general issue of classifying mesons in the quark model.
We investigate the role of the flavor asymmetry of the nucleon's polarized antiquark distributions in Drell-Yan lepton pair production in polarized nucleon-nucleon collisions at HERA (fixed-target) and RHIC energies. It is shown that the large polarized antiquark flavor asymmetry predicted by model calculations in the large-N_c limit (chiral quark-soliton model) has a dramatic effect on the double spin asymmetries in high mass lepton pair production, as well as on the single spin asymmetries in lepton pair production through $W^\pm$-bosons at $M^2 = M_W^2$.
We calculate the isosinglet unpolarized quark-- and antiquark distributions at a low normalization point in the large--$N_c$ limit. The nucleon is described as a self-consistent soliton solution of the effective chiral theory. The ultraviolet cutoff is implemented by a Pauli-Villars subtraction. The quark and antiquark distributions satisfy the momentum as well as the baryon number sum rule, corresponding to ``constituent'' quarks whose structure is not yet resolved at the low scale. Already at this level a sizable number of antiquarks is present.
The static potential between an infinitely heavy quark and antiquark is derived in the framework of perturbative QCD to three loops by performing a full calculation of the two-loop diagrams and using the renormalization group. The contribution of massless fermions is included.
We discuss diffractive dissociation of gluons into heavy quark pairs. The particular mechanism is similar to the diffractive dissociation of virtual photons into quarks. The amplitude for the $g p \to Q \bar Q p$ is derived in the impact parameter and momentum space. The cross section for single diffractive $p p \to Q \bar Q p X$ is calculated as a convolution of the elementary cross section and gluon distribution in the proton. Integrated cross section and differential distributions in transverse momentum and rapidity of the charm and bottom quark and antiquark, etc. are calculated for the no…
The charmonium and bottomonium mass spectra are calculated with the systematic account of all relativistic corrections of order v^2/c^2 and the one-loop radiative corrections. Special attention is paid to the contribution of the retardation effects to the spin-independent part of the quark-antiquark potential, and a general approach to accounting for retardation effects in the long-range (confining) part of the potential is presented. A good fit to available experimental data on the mass spectra is obtained.
We study inelastic meson-meson scattering that is governed by quark-antiquark annihilation and creation involving a quark and an antiquark annihilating into a gluon, and subsequently the gluon creating another quark-antiquark pair. The resultant hadronic reactions include for I=1: pion + pion to rho + rho, kaon + antikaon to kaon* + antikaon*, kaon + antikaon* to kaon* + antikaon*, kaon* + antikaon to kaon* + antikaon*, as well as pion + pion to kaon + antikaon, pion + rho to kaon + antikaon*, pion + rho to kaon* + antikaon, and kaon + antikaon to rho + rho. In each reaction, one or two Feynma…
We study the relativistic quark-antiquark system embedded in magnetic field (MF). The Hamiltonian containing confinement, color Coulomb and spin-spin interaction is derived. We analytically follow the evolution of the lowest neutral meson state as a function of MF strength. Calculating the color Coulomb energy $V_{Coul}$ we have observed the unbounded negative (at least in the limit of large $N_c$) contribution at large MF which makes the mass negative for $eB> eB^{QCD}_{crit}$. We display the $π^0$ and $ρ^0$ masses as functions of MF in comparison with recent lattice data.
We calculate the cross section for the production of two jets with large transverse momenta $\kf^2$ in DIS diffractive dissociation for both transverse and longitudinally polarized photons. The scale which defines the hardness of the pomeron is found to be $\kf^2\frac{Q^2+M^2}{M^2}$. We present analytic expressions and discuss numerical results relevant for the diffractive dissociation at HERA.

Chemically non-equilibrated quark-antiquark matter is studied within the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The equations of state of non-strange (q=u,d) and strange (q=s) quark-antiquark systems are calculated in the mean-field approximation. The existence of metastable bound states with zero pressure is predicted at finite densities and temperatures less than about 50 MeV. It is shown that the minimum energy per particle occurs for symmetric systems, with equal densities of quarks and antiquarks. At T=0 these metastable states have quark number densities of about 0.5 fm^-3 for q=u,d and of 1 fm^-3 fo…
We studies the high energy elastic scattering of quark anti-quark with an exchange of a mesonic state in the $t$ channel with $-t/Λ^{2} \gg 1$. Both the normalization factor and the Regge trajectory can be calculated in PQCD in cases of fixed (non-running) and running coupling constant. The dependence of the Regge trajectory on the coupling constant is highly non-linear and the trajectory is of order of $0.2$ in the interesting physical range.
We calculate the leading mass-suppressed two-loop contribution, proportional to alpha_s^3/(m_q r^2), to the potential of a heavy quark-antiquark system. This contribution originates in the nonabelian nature of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and has no analogue in quantum electrodynamics (QED). For this purpose, we elaborate a technique based on the implementation of the threshold expansion within the effective theory of nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD). We discuss phenomenological implications of our result for heavy-quarkonium physics. We also confirm a previous result for the two-loop O(alpha_s^2) …
The one-loop QCD corrections to the light-front wave-function for the quark-antiquark Fock state inside a transverse or longitudinal off-shell photon are explicitly calculated, both in full momentum space and in mixed space (a.k.a. dipole space). These results provide one of the main contributions to virtual NLO corrections to many DIS observables (inclusive or not) in the dipole factorization formalism at low Bjorken x. In a follow-up article, these one-loop corrections are combined with earlier results on the wave-function for the quark-antiquark-gluon Fock state, in order to get the full se…
We use low energy pion-pion phase-shifts in order to make distinction between the alternatives for the value of the quark-antiquark condensate $B_0$ in the chiral limit. We will consider the amplitude up to and including ${\cal O}(p^4)$ contributions within the Standard and Generalized Chiral Perturbation Theory frameworks. They are unitarized by means of Padé approximants in order to fit experimental phase-shifts in the resonance region. As the best fits correspond to $α= β= 1$, we conclude that pion-pion phase-shift analysis favors the standard ChPT scenario, which assumes just one, large le…
The strange sea of the proton is generally assumed to have quark - antiquark symmetry. However it has been known for some time that non-perturbative processes involving the meson cloud of the proton may break this symmetry. Recently this has been of interest as it affects the analysis of the so-called `NuTeV anomaly', and could explain the large discrepancy between the NuTeV measurement of $\sin^{2} θ_{W}$ and the currently accepted value. In this paper we re-examine strange - anti-strange asymmetry using the meson cloud model. We calculate contributions to the strange sea arising from fluctua…
CP asymmetry in some exclusive decays of charged B meson are calculated in a Bethe-Salpeter approach. Hadronic final state interactions are ignored. Complex decay amplitudes are assumed to arise entirely from perturbative quark-antiquark loops. Calculations are done both with and without the gluon quark-antiquark vacuum polarization loops. The effects of neglecting the imaginary parts arising from the diagonal quark-antiquark loops are also studied.
It is demonstrated how perturbative O(alpha_s^2) relativistic corrections to the non-relativistic stable heavy quark-antiquark production cross section in e^+e^- annihilation based on a Coulombic QCD potential can be systematically calculated using the concept of effective field theories. The O(alpha_s^2) corrections from the relativistic energy-momentum relation, the relativistic phase space corrections and the O(alpha_s^2) corrections involving the group theoretical factors C_F^2 and C_F T are determined explicitly. For the case of $t\bar t$ production the sum of these corrections amounts to…
The $1/N_c$-expansion of QCD suggests large flavor asymmetries of the polarized antiquark distributions in the nucleon. This is confirmed by model calculations in the large-$N_c$ limit (chiral quark-soliton model), which give sizable results for $Δ\bar u (x) - Δ\bar d (x)$ and $Δ\bar u (x) + Δ\bar d (x) - 2 Δ\bar s (x)$. We compute the contributions of these flavor asymmetries to the spin asymmetries in hadron production in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering. We show that the large flavor asymmetries predicted by the chiral quark-soliton model are consistent with the recent HERMES data f…
We discuss exclusive central production of Higgs boson, quark-antiquark and digluon dijets. Some differential distributions are shown and disussed. Irreducible leading-order $b \bar b $ background to Higgs production is calculated. The signal-to-background ratio is shown and improvements are suggested by imposing cuts on $b$ ($\bar b$) transverse momenta and rapidities. We disuss also gluonic dijet production. Here we use rather reggeon-reggeon-gluon vertices. We discuss briefly also a new mechanism of emission of gluons from different $t$-channel gluons (reggeons). The latter contribution tur…
We calculate the spectra of charmonium and bottomium in an approximation scheme which treats hard gluons perturbatively while soft gluons are expanded in a set of localized wave functions. Quark-antiquark and quark-antiquark-gluon sectors are included. Reasonable agreement with 2 parameters only is found but the spectra are too coulombic. Despite large coupling constant the admixture of the quark-antiquark-gluon sector is found to be remarkably small.
Elastic gluon-gluon-quark (gluon-gluon-antiquark) scattering is studied in perturbative QCD with 123 Feynman diagrams at the tree level. Individually squared amplitudes and interference terms of the Feynman diagrams are derived. With the elastic gluon-gluon-quark scattering and the elastic gluon-gluon-antiquark scattering transport equations are established. In the thermalization process of initially created quark-gluon matter, this matter is governed by elastic 2-to-2 scattering and elastic 3-to-3 scattering. Solutions of the transport equations show that initially created quark-gluon matter …
This paper focuses on tetraquarks containing one heavy quark and one heavy antiquark in the formal limit where the heavy quark masses go to infinity. It extends the theoretical framework developed for tetraquark containing two heavy quarks based on semi-classical analysis and the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. It is shown that for sufficiently small light quark masses, parametrically narrow $q\bar{q}'Q\bar{Q}$ tetraquarks must exist in the formal limit of arbitrarily large heavy quark masses. The analysis is model-independent; it requires no assumptions about the structure of the state or the…
In this paper, we study the spatial correlations among quarks and antiquarks produced at mid-rapidity by gluon pair production in the color glass condensate framework. This paper is the first part of a series in which we calculate a complete set of quark/quark, quark/antiquark, and antiquark/antiquark spatial correlation functions in heavy-light ion collisions, with the goal of incorporating their conserved charges into the initial conditions of hydrodynamics. The physical mechanisms captured in this calculation include geometric, entanglement, and interaction-mediated correlations. In this fi…
A non-covariant but approximately relativistic two-body wave equation (Breit equation) describing the quantum mechanics of two fermions interacting with one another through a potential containing scalar, pseudoscalar and vector parts is presented. After expressing the sixteen component two-body wavefunction in terms of a radial and an angular function by means of the multipole expansion, the initial equation can be reduced into a set of sixteen radial equations which, in turn, can be classified in accordance to the parity and the state of the wavefunctions involved. The adequacy of the reduced…
In the present work, we study meson systems consisting of quark-antiquark. We solve lippman-Schwinger equation numerically for heavy meson systems. We attempt to find a non-relativistic potential model through which we can solve the quark-antiquark bound state problem. The coefficients so obtained are in agreement with Martin potential coefficients. Via this method we also determine the strong coupling constant for the mesons tt, tc, and tb, which is a coefficient of Cornell potential.
Trigonometric Rosen-Morse potential is suggested as the quark-antiquark interaction potential for studying the thermodynamic properties and the masses of heavy and heavy-light mesons. For this purpose, N-radial Schrodinger equation is analytically solved using an exact analytical iteration method (EAIM). The eigenvalues of energy and corresponding wave functions are obtained in the N-dimensional space. The present results are applied for calculating the mass of heavy mesons such as charmonium, bottomonium, bc, and cs mesons and thermodynamic properties such as the mean-internal energy, the spe…
Pion and kaon observables are calculated using a Dyson-Schwinger Bethe-Salpeter formalism. It is shown that an infrared finite gluon propagator can lead to quark confinement via generation of complex mass poles in quark propagators. Observables, including electromagnetic form factors, are calculated entirely in Euclidean metric for spacelike values of bound state momentum and final results are extrapolated to the physical region.
Using the quark-antiquark interactions obtained in the framework of the bootstrap method we construct a potential model, investigate the possibility of describing of heavy quarkonia and calculate the bottomonium spectrum. The potential of the interaction was obtained as a nonrelativistic limit of the relativistic quark-antiquark amplitudes Q{\bar Q} -> Q\bar Q.
Although the meson decay amplitude described by a two-point function may be regarded as one of the simplest possible physical observable, it is interesting that this apparently simple amplitude bears abundant fundamental informations on QCD vacuum dynamics and chiral symmetry. The light-front zero-mode issue of the vector meson decay constant $f_V$ is in this respect highly non-trivial and deserves careful analyses. We discuss the zero-mode issue in the light-front quark model (LFQM) prediction of $f_V$ from the perspective of the vacuum fluctuation consistent with the chiral symmetry of QCD. …
Starting from the QCD Lagrangian and taking into account both perturbative and nonperturbative effects, we use the method of vacuum correlators to derive the Dirac equation (rigorously for the Coulomb interaction and heuristically for the confining potential) for a system consisting of a light quark and heavy antiquark. As a result the confining potential is a Lorentz scalar, and the Coulomb part the fourth component of a 4-vector. The energy spectrum of the Dirac equation is considered for these potentials. Numerical calculations of energy eigenvalues $E=E_{nκ}$ are performed, and some exact …
We investigate the flavour and quark-antiquark structure of the polarized nucleon by calculating the parton distribution functions of the nucleon sea using the meson cloud model. We find that the SU(2) flavor symmetry in the light antiquark sea and quark-antiquark symmetry in the strange quark sea are broken, {\it i.e.} $Δ\ubar < Δ\dbar$ and $Δs < Δ\sbar$. The polarization of the strange sea is found to be positive, which is in contradiction to previous analyses. We predict a much larger quark-antiquark asymmetry in the polarized strange quark sea than that in the unpolarized strange quark sea…
The interaction kernel in the Bethe-Salpeter equation for quark-antiquark bound states is derived from the Bethe-Salpeter equations satisfied by the quark-antiquark four-point Green's function. The latter equations are established based on the equations of motion obeyed by the quark and antiquark propagators, the four-point Green's function and some other kinds of Green's functions which follow directly from the QCD generating functional. The B-S kernel derived is given an exact and explicit expression which contains only a few types of Green's functions. This expression is not only convenient…
Modifications to quark and antiquark fragmentation functions due to quark-quark (antiquark) double scattering in nuclear medium are studied systematically up to order \cal{O}(α_{s}^2)$ in deeply inelastic scattering (DIS) off nuclear targets. At the order $\cal{O}(α_s^2)$, twist-four contributions from quark-quark (antiquark) rescattering also exhibit the Landau-Pomeranchuck-Midgal (LPM) interference feature similar to gluon bremsstrahlung induced by multiple parton scattering. Compared to quark-gluon scattering, the modification, which is dominated by $t$-channel quark-quark (antiquark) scatt…
