We formulate the single transverse spin asymmetry in heavy quarkonium production in lepton-nucleon and nucleon-nucleon collisions in the non-relativistic limit. We find that the asymmetry is very sensitive to the production mechanism. The final state interactions with the heavy quark and antiquark cancel out among themselves when the pair are produced in a color-single configuration, or cancel out with the initial state interaction in pp scattering when they are in color-octet. As a consequence, the asymmetry is nonzero in ep collisions only in the color-octet model, whereas in pp collisions only in the color-singlet model.
We explore polarized heavy quarkonium production using the color evaporation model at leading order. We present the polarized to total yield ratio as a function of center of mass energy and rapidity in $p+p$ collisions. At energies far above the $Q \overline Q$ production threshold, we find charmonium and bottomonium production to be longitudinally polarized ($J_z=0$). The quarkonium states are also longitudinally polarized at central rapidity, becoming transversely polarized ($J_z=\pm1$) at the most forward rapidities.
Study of the polarized heavy quarkonium production in recently proposed QCD factorization formalism requires knowledge of a large number of input fragmentation functions (FFs) from a single parton or a heavy quark-antiquark pair to a polarized heavy quarkonium. In this paper, we calculate these FFs at the input scale in terms of nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization. We derive all relevant polarized NRQCD long-distance matrix elements based symmetries and propose a self-consistent scheme to define them in arbitrary $d$ dimensions. We then calculate polarized input FFs contributed from all …
We present the study of accessing unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon TMDs in J/ψ and Υ(1S) production in unpolarized proton-proton collision at LHC, RHIC and AFTER energies. Non- relativistic QCD based color octet model (COM) is used for estimating quarkonium production rates within transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism. A comparison is drawn between the experimental data and the transverse momentum distribution of quarkonium obtained in COM and color evaporation model.
Quarkonium production at low transverse momentum in hadron collisions can be used to extract Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) gluon distribution functions, if TMD factorization holds there. We show that TMD factorization for the case of P-wave quarkonium with $J^{PC}=0^{++}, 2^{++}$ holds at one-loop level, but is violated beyond one-loop level. TMD factorization for other P-wave quarkonium is also violated already at one-loop.
Quarkonium production in hadron collisions at low transverse momentum $q_\perp \ll M$ with $M$ as the quarkonium mass can be used for probing transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon distributions. For this purpose, one needs to establish the TMD factorization for the process. We examine the factorization at the one-loop level for the production of $η_c$ or $η_b$. The perturbative coefficient in the factorization is determined at one-loop accuracy. Comparing the factorization derived at tree level and that beyond the tree level, a soft factor is, in general, needed to completely cancel soft d…
We analyse inclusive photoproduction of polarized $^3P_1$ quarkonium in the framework of QCD. To separate nonperturbative and perturbative parts in the density matrix of the produced quarkonium we use a method , which is equivalent to the diagramatic expansion widely used in analysing deeply inelastic scatterings. A systematic expansion in a small velocity $v$, with which a heavy quark moves inside the quarkonium in its rest frame, is performed for the nonperturbative parts, and they are expressed as matrix elements in nonrelativistic QCD. At the leading order of $v$ there are four matrix elem…
We investigate the inclusive production of prompt J/psi mesons in polarized hadron-hadron and photon-hadron collisions in the factorization formalism of NRQCD. Numerical results are presented for BNL RHIC-Spin and the approved SLAC fixed-target experiment E161 to assess the feasibility to access the spin-dependent parton distributions in the polarized proton and photon. We point out that data on J/psi production taken by the PHENIX Collaboration in unpolarized proton-proton collisions at RHIC tend to favor the NRQCD factorization hypothesis, while they significantly overshoot the theoretical p…
In this paper hadroproduction of charmonium states in polarized pp collisions is discussed. A thermal picture for the gluonic cloud of comovers is given making contact between the formalism and the measured unpolarized cross sections. The experimentally observed non-polarization of the final J/psi states leads to the consequence that no correlations between the initial proton spin and the final charmonium spin should be existent. Hence the single spin asymmetries vanish to leading order in that model.
The nuclear suppression of heavy quarkonium production at low transverse momentum in pA collisions in high energy scatterings is investigated in the small-x factorization formalism. A universal suppression is found in the large Nc limit between the two formalisms to describe the heavy quarkonium production: the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) and the color-evaporation model (CEM). This provides an important probe to the saturation momentum at small-x in big nucleus. We also comment on the phenomenological applications of our results.
The inclusive hadronic production of $η_Q$($η_c$ or $η_b$) pair is proposed to extract the transverse momentum dependent(TMD) gluon distribution functions. We use nonrelativistic QCD(NRQCD) for the production of $η_Q$. Under nonrelativistic limit TMD factorization for this process is assumed to make a lowest order calculation. For unpolarized initial hadrons, unpolarized and linearly polarized gluon distributions can be extracted by studying different angular distributions.
The gluon collision process that creates a heavy-quark-antiquark pair with small relative momentum and large transverse momentum predicts at leading-order in the QCD coupling constant that the transverse polarization of the pair should increase with its transverse momentum. Measurements at the Fermilab Tevatron of the polarization of charmonium and bottomonium states with respect to a particular spin-quantization axis are inconsistent with this prediction. However the predicted rate of approach to complete transverse polarization depends on the choice of spin-quantization axis. We introduce ax…
The double spin asymmetry for exclusive $J/ψ$ pair production in the polarized $p-p$ collisions at RHIC is investigated. Our study shows that the asymmetry in this process is measurable at RHIC-SPIN experiments in the near future, and, hence it can be used to determine the gluon distribution function $ΔG (x)$ in the polarized nucleon.
The NRQCD factorization approach for calculating inclusive production of heavy quarkonium gives unambiguous predictions for the polarization of quarkonium states. The factorization formula for polarized states can be obtained by using the threshold expansion method to calculate the short-distance coefficients and then using symmetries of NRQD to reduce the NRQCD matrix elements. A particularly dramatic prediction of the NRQCD factorization framework is that prompt psi's and psi-primes's produced at the Tevatron should be predominantly transversely polarized at large transverse momentum.
Polarization measurements are usually considered as the most difficult challenge for the QCD description of quarkonium production. In fact, global data fits for the determination of the non-perturbative parameters of bound-state formation traditionally exclude polarization observables and use them as a posteriori verifications of the predictions, with perplexing results. With a change of perspective, we move polarization data to the centre of the study, advocating that they actually provide the strongest fundamental indications about the production mechanisms, even before we explicitly conside…
Inclusive production of a quarkonium $η_{c,b}$ in hadron collisions at low transverse momentum can be used to extract various Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) gluon distributions of hadrons, provided the TMD factorization for the process holds. The factorization involving unpolarized TMD gluon distributions of unpolarized hadrons has been examined with on-shell gluons at one-loop level. In this work we study the factorization at one-loop level with diagram approach in the most general case, where all TMD gluon distributions at leading twist are involved. We find that the factorization holds …
In this contribution we briefly discuss an ongoing phenomenological programme on quarkonium production in unpolarized and polarized proton-proton collisions in a fixed target setup at LHCb, the LHCSpin project. Within a TMD approach, we aim at considering in particular: the relative role of the NRQCD color-singlet and color-octet production mechanisms, both for unpolarized and polarized quarkonium production; the study of azimuthal and transverse single-spin asymmetries as a phenomenological tool for learning about the almost unknown gluon Sivers function; the role of initial- and final-state …
In this work we apply effective field theory (EFT) to observables in quarkonium production and decay that are sensitive to soft gluon radiation, in particular measurements that are sensitive to small transverse momentum. Within the EFT framework we study $χ_Q$ decay to light quarks followed by the fragmentation of those quarks to light hadrons. We derive a factorization theorem that involves transverse momentum distribution (TMD) fragmentation functions and new quarkonium TMD shape functions. We derive renormalization group equations, both in rapidity and virtuality, which are used to evolve t…
As a stringent test of the nonrelativistic QCD factorization approach for inclusive heavy-quarkonium production in high-energy hadron collision, the polarized heavy-quarkonium production at the Tevatron is discussed. The polarization of prompt J/psi at the Tevatron is predicted within the nonrelativistic QCD factorization framework. The contribution from radiative decays of P-wave charmonium states decreases, but does not eliminate, the transverse polarization at large transverse momentum. The prediction agrees with measurements from the CDF collaboration at intermediate values of p_T, but dis…
Recently it has been put forward that linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized protons affect the transverse momentum distribution of final state particles in hadronic collisions. They lead to a characteristic modulation of the differential cross section in Higgs production and to azimuthal asymmetries in, for instance, heavy quark pair production. Here we study the effect on charmonium and bottomonium production in hadronic collisions, such as at LHCb and at the proposed fixed target experiment AFTER at LHC. We focus mainly on the scalar and pseudoscalar quarkonia, eta_c, chi_{c0}, eta_b,…
Heavy quarkonium ($Υ$) production at low transverse momentum ($P_\perp$) in high-energy hadronic collisions is revisited from the point of view of transverse momentum dependent (TMD) framework. We perform resummation of double logarithmic correction associated with initial-state soft gluon shower for $b\bar b$ production by employing Collins-Soper-Sterman (CSS) formalism. We show that the CSS formalism provides a nice description of $Υ$ production data in p+$\rm\bar{p}$ collisions at Tevatron and p+p collisions at the LHC.
We calculate the $α_s$ corrections to the transverse polarization fraction of $ψ^\prime$'s produced at the Tevatron. If the `$ψ^\prime$-anomaly' is explained by gluon fragmentation into a colour octet Fock component of the $ψ^\prime$, the $ψ^\prime$'s should be $100\%$ transversely polarized at leading order in $α_s$, up to spin symmetry breaking long-distance corrections. We find that the short-distance correction to the transverse polarization fraction is a few percent, so that a polarization measurement would provide a reliable test of the colour octet mechanism.
We extend to large transverse momentum pt an approach to quarkonium hadroproduction previously suggested for low pt. The dynamics involves a perturbative rescattering of the heavy quark pair off a comoving color field which originates from gluon radiation prior to the heavy quark production vertex. Assuming simple properties of the comoving field we find the rescattering scenario to be in reasonable agreement with data. At large pt, psi' is predicted to be unpolarized, and chi1 production is favoured compared to chi2. We predict the chi1 polarization to be transverse at low pt, and to get a lo…
We study the transverse-momentum spectrum of quarkonium production from single light-parton fragmentation mechanism. In the case of semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering, we observe that there are two possible initiating processes, namely photon-gluon fusion and light-quark fragmentation. For the second case we derive the factorization theorem, which involves a new hadronic quantity: the quarkonium transverse-momentum-dependent fragmentation functions in NRQCD. We calculate their matching onto the non-perturbative long distance matrix elements at the lowest order in the strong-coupling cons…
Quarkonium production offers good possibilities to study gluon TMDs. In this proceedings contribution this topic is explored for the linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized hadrons and unpolarized gluons inside transversely polarized hadrons. It is argued that $χ_{b0/2}$ and $η_b$ production at LHC are best to study the effects of linearly polarized gluons in hadronic collisions, by means of angular independent ratios of ratios of cross sections. This can be directly compared to $\cos 2ϕ$ asymmetries in heavy quark pair and dijet production in DIS at a future high-energy Electron-Ion Coll…
We present a recent calculation of $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ production in unpolarized $pp$ collision and show that this can be used to probe the unpolarized gluon as well as the linearly polarized gluon transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs). We use the color evaporation model for the heavy quarkonium production and use a generalized factorized form of the cross section. We compare the results with experimental data.
We introduce the transverse momentum dependent fragmenting jet function (TMDFJF), which appears in factorization theorems for cross sections for jets with an identified hadron. These are functions of $z$, the hadron's longitudinal momentum fraction, and transverse momentum, $\boldsymbol{\mathrm{p}}_{\perp}$, relative to the jet axis. In the framework of Soft-Collinear Effective Theory (SCET) we derive the TMDFJF from both a factorized SCET cross section and the TMD fragmentation function defined in the literature. The TMDFJFs are factorized into distinct collinear and soft-collinear modes by m…
I describe the NRQCD factorization approach to the inclusive production of heavy quarkonium, contrasting it with the color-singlet and color evaporation models. These approaches differ dramatically in their assumptions about the roles played by color and spin in the production process. They also differ dramatically in their predictions for the production of charmonium at large transverse momentum.
We study the diffractive photo- and leptoproductions of $J / ψ$ and $ψ'$ on the proton, and examine the validity of the small-size color dipole approximation to the production of radially excited heavy quarkonium. The dipole model predicts a small ratio of $ψ'$ to $J / ψ$ photoproduction cross sections, which does not agree with experimental data. We show that this discrepancy originates from a large transverse size of $ψ'$ which makes the convergence of the transverse size expansion questionable, and the calculation without the dipole approximation turns out to be consistent with the data. Pr…
In this contribution, we will present a short overview of the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) approach as a tool for studying the 3-dimensional structure of hadrons in high-energy (un)polarized hadron collisions. We will then summarize the present status of a running research programme that aims at constraining the poorly known transverse momentum dependent gluon Sivers function, through the study of single spin asymmetries in quarkonium (mainly $J/ψ$), pion, and $D$-meson production in polarized proton-proton collisions at RHIC. Finally, we will shortly discuss perspectives for this field…
The inclusive $J/Ψ$, $Ψ(2S)$ and $Υ(1S)$ direct and resolved photoproduction are investigated by including the quark subprocesses in the framework of non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD). We find that the theoretical total cross section of heavy quarkonium productions are in good agreement with the data available at HERA, once the $γq$, $qg$ and $qq$ subprocesses in the heavy quark pair productions are taken into account. The inclusive diffractive rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of $J/Ψ$, $Ψ(2S)$ and $Υ(1S)$ in $pp$, $pPb$ and $PbPb$ collisions at LHC are also studied…
Color screening and regeneration are both hot medium effects on quarkonium production in high energy nuclear collisions. However, they affect in an opposite way the finally observed quarkonium spectra. Due to the competition of the two dynamical effects, the ratio of the integrated quarkonium yield between nuclear and elementary nucleon collisions loses its sensitivity. Once the information of quarkonium transverse motion is included, on the other hand, the ratio of averaged transverse momentum square reveals the nature of the QCD medium created in high energy nuclear collisions.
Fragmentation is the dominant production mechanism for heavy hadronic bound states with large transverse momentum. We numerically calculate the initial $g\rightarrow H(Q\bar{Q})$ fragmentation functions (FFs) using the nonrelativistic QCD factorization approach. Our analytical expression of FFs depends on both the momentum fraction $z$ and the transverse momentum of the gluon, and contains most of the kinematical and dynamical properties of the process. Specifically, using the perturbative QCD we present the FF for a gluon to split into $S$-wave charmonium meson $H_c$ to leading order in the Q…
FDCHQHP is a Fortran package to calculate the transverse momentum (p_t) distribution of yield and polarization for heavy quarkonium hadroproduction at next-to-leading-order (NLO) based on non-relativistic QCD(NRQCD) framework. It contains the complete color-singlet and color-octet intermediate states in present theoretical level, and is available to calculate different polarization parameters in different frames. As the LHC running now and in the future, it supplies a very useful tool to obtain theoretical prediction on the heavy quarkonium hadroproduction.
Recent data from the Tevatron has revealed that the production rate of prompt charmonium at large transverse momentum is orders of magnitude larger than the best theoretical predictions of a few years ago. These surprising results can be understood by taking into account two recent developments that have revolutionized the theoretical description of heavy quarkonium production. The first is the realization that fragmentation must dominate at large transverse momentum, which implies that most charmonium in this kinematic region is produced by the hadronization of individual high-$p_T$ partons. …
The event generator BEEC [Z. Yang, X.G. Wu and X.Y. Wang, Comput. Phys. Commun. 184, 2848 (2013)] was devoted to the simulation of heavy quarkonium production at an unpolarized electron-positron collider. We upgraded it here by adding the generation of quarkonium with polarized electron and positron beams. In addition, the production of color-singlet 2S-wave states were included. Several future electron-positron colliders with high luminosity have been under discussion in the past decade. Especially, their possibility of producing polarized beams is important for providing more insights into t…
A study of the $\J$-meson photoproduction at large transverse momentum at HERA energies via the charm quark excitation in the photon is presented. Based on perturbative QCD, nonrelativistic quark model and photon structure function formalism, our calculation demonstrates that the charm content of the photon may be very important for the $\J$ photoproduction at the large transverse momentum. It is shown that at HERA energies $\J$ production via the subprocess $\cg$ dominates over the resolved photon contribution via the gluon-gluon fusion at $\pt\ge 2$ GeV/c and over the leading order direct ph…
We investigate the low transverse momentum heavy quarkonium ($J/ψ$, $Υ$) productions in the forward rapidity region of $pp$ and $pA$ collisions at the LHC as an important probe to the transverse momentum tomography of the gluons in hadrons in the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework. By implementing the Sudakov resummation consistently in the CGC formalism, we achieve an excellent agreement between the improved CGC calculations and the LHC data. We show that both the small-$x$ and the Sudakov effects are essential for a complete description of heavy quarkonium productions in the low transver…
The fragmentation functions for gluons to split into P-wave heavy quarkonium states are calculated to leading order in the QCD coupling constant. Long-distance effects are factored into two nonperturbative parameters: the derivative of the radial wavefunction at the origin and a second parameter related to the probability for a heavy-quark-antiquark pair that is produced in a color-octet S-wave state to form a color-singlet P-wave bound state. The fragmentation probabilities for a high transverse momentum gluon to split into the P-wave charmonium states $χ_{c0}$, $χ_{c1}$, and $χ_{c2}$ are est…
The fragmentation function of a scalar leptoquark into possible S-wave bound states with a heavy anti-quark is calculated to the leading order in perturbative QCD for the high energy processes at large transverse momenta. The one-loop equations for the $q^2$-evolution of moments of the fragmentation function due to the hard gluon emission by the leptoquark are derived. The integral probabilities of fragmentation are evaluated.
Linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized hadrons affects the transverse momentum distribution of produced spin-0 particles, such as of the Higgs or (pseudo-)scalar quarkonium states at LHC. Despite the currently unknown amount of linear gluon polarization, a range of predictions can be obtained, using TMD evolution, which indicates that their effect is on the few percent level in Higgs production, but can be much larger in quarkonium production. Together with asymmetries in open charm or bottom production in electro-production at an Electron-Ion Collider, the size and sign of the linea…
We apply our calculation of direct $J/ψ$ production in the improved color evaporation mode at ${\mathcal O}(α_s^3)$ in collinear factorization to Pb+Pb collisions. The cold nuclear matter effects of nuclear modifications of the parton densities and intrinsic transverse momentum broadening are included. We find that the polarization is independent of these effects. Our calculations are compared to the Pb+Pb polarization parameters extracted by the ALICE Collaboration at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV.
We calculate the polarisation of $ψ$'s and $Υ$'s produced by the fragmentation of heavy quarks. We find that fragmentation to transversely aligned quarkonium is slightly enhanced relative to longitudinally polarised. This net alignment corresponds to a $\sim 5\%$ asymmetry in the angular distribution of leptons produced in the subsequent decay of the quarkonium. We point out that the leading gluon contribution to $ψ$ and $Υ$ production arises from the evolution of the charm quark fragmentation function, rather than from direct gluon fragmentation.
In this paper, the quark distribution amplitudes of 1S and 2S heavy quarkonium states are studied in terms of Gaussian-type wave functions. The transverse momenta $p_\perp$ integrals of the formulae for the decay constant are performed analytically. Then the quark distribution amplitudes are obtained. In addition, the $ξ$-moments are also calculated. After fixing the relevant parameters appearing in the quark distribution amplitude, the curves of the quark distribution amplitude for 1S and 2S heavy quarkonium states are plotted. Finally, the numerical results of this approach are compared with…
The study of a quasi back-to-back isolated pair made of a heavy quarkonium, such as a J/psi or a Upsilon, and a photon produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, is probably the optimal way to get right away a first experimental determination of two gluon transverse-momentum-dependent distributions (TMDs) in an unpolarized proton, f1^g and h1^perp,g the latter giving the distribution of linearly polarized gluons. To substantiate this, we calculate the transverse-momentum-dependent effects that arise in the process under study and discuss the feasibility of their measurements.
The short-distance coefficients for the color-octet 3S1 term in the fragmentation function for a gluon to split into heavy quarkonium states is calculated to order alpha_s^2. The gauge-invariant definition of the fragmentation function by Collins and Soper is employed. Ultraviolet divergences are removed using the MS-bar renormalization procedure. The longitudinal term in the fragmentation function agrees with a previous calculation by Beneke and Rothstein. The next-to-leading order correction to the transverse term disagrees with a previous calculation.
I report on our investigations into the impact of (un)polarized transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMD PDFs or TMDs) for gluons at hadron colliders, especially at A Fixed Target Experiment at the LHC (AFTER@LHC). In the context of high energy proton-proton collisions, we look at final states with low mass (e.g. $η_b$) in order to investigate the nonperturbative part of TMD PDFs. We study the factorization theorem for the $q_T$ spectrum of $η_b$ produced in proton-proton collisions relying on the effective field theory approach, defining the tools to perform phenomenol…
Quarkonium production in high-energy reactions is found to exhibit a behaviour more universal than that expected from velocity scaling. Total rates of quarkonia produced in hadronic interactions as well as Feynman-x and transverse momentum distributions can be described over the full range of accessible energies (15 < sqrt{s} < 1800 GeV) by two-stage processes. The quarkonium production cross section factors into a process-dependent short-distance part and a single long-distance matrix element. The first part describing the production of a free quark--antiquark pair is the perturbatively calcu…
The observation of unpolarized quarkonium production in high energy pp collisions, at mid rapidity, implies a significant violation of the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) velocity scaling rules. A precise experimental confirmation of this picture could definitely rule out the current formulation of the factorization expansion. This conclusion relies on current perturbative determinations of the short-distance kinematic factors and may be reverted if improved calculations would modify, in a very specific way, their transverse momentum dependences. That solution would result, however, in a full deg…
In this paper, the soft gluon resummation effect in double heavy quarkonium production at the LHC is studied. By applying the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism, the large logarithms introduced by the small total transverse momentum of heavy quarkonium pair final state system, are resummed to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling at the Next-to-Leading Logarithm accuracy. We also compare our result with the LHC data. We find that the distribution shape predicted by resummation calculation is consistent with experimental data very well. Since this pro…
The strong interaction between heavy quarks and the quark gluon plasma makes the open and hidden charm hadrons be sensitive probes of the deconfinement phase transition in high energy nuclear collisions. Both the cold and hot nuclear matter effects change with the colliding energy and significantly influence the heavy quark and charmonium yield and their transverse momentum distributions. The ratio of averaged quarkonium transverse momentum square and the elliptic flow reveal the nature of the QCD medium created in heavy ion collisions at SPS, RHIC and LHC energies.
In this paper we study the inclusive and diffractive double quarkonium production. Based on the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism for the quarkonium production mechanism we estimate the rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of the cross section for the $J/ΨJ/Ψ$ and $ΥΥ$ production in diffractive processes at LHC energies. The contributions of the color-singlet and color-octet channels are estimated and predictions for the total cross sections in the kinematical regions of the LHC experiments are also presented. Our results demonstrate that the contribution of diffractiv…
Several fixed-target experiments reported J/$ψ$ and $Υ$ polarization measurements, as functions of Feynman $x$ ($x_{\rm F}$) and transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$), in three different polarization frames, using different combinations of beam particles, target nuclei and collision energies. The data form such a diverse and heterogeneous picture that, at first sight, no clear trends can be observed. A more detailed look, however, allows us to discern qualitative physical patterns that inspire and support a simple interpretation: the directly-produced quarkonia result from either gluon-gluon fusio…
The polarization of quarkonium states produced in hadron collisions exhibits strong non-perturbative effects - for example, at small transverse momentum $p_t$ charmonia appear unpolarized, in sharp contradiction to the predictions of perturbation theory. The quark--gluon plasma is expected to screen away the non-perturbative physics; therefore those quarkonia which escape from the plasma should possess polarization as predicted by perturbative QCD. We estimate the expected $J/ψ$ polarization at small $p_t$, and find that it translates into the asymmetry of the $e^+e^- (μ^+μ^-)$ angular distrib…
