Using Dumnicki's approach to showing non-specialty of linear systems consisting of plane curves with prescribed multiplicities in sufficiently general points on $\mathbb{P}^2$ we develop an asymptotic method to determine lower bounds for Seshadri constants of general points on $\mathbb{P}^2$. With this method we prove the lower bound 4/13 for 10 general points on $\mathbb{P}^2$.
Motivated by a similar result of Dumnicki, Küronya, Maclean and Szemberg under a slightly stronger hypothesis, we exhibit irrational single-point Seshadri constants on a rational surface $X$ obtained by blowing up very general points of $\mathbb{P}^2_\mathbb{C}$, assuming only that all prime divisors on $X$ of negative self-intersection are smooth rational curves $C$ with $C^2=-1$. (This assumption is a consequence of the SHGH Conjecture, but it is weaker than assuming the full conjecture.)
Over an arbitrary field $\mathbb{F}$, Harbourne conjectured that $$I^{(N (r-1)+1)} \subseteq I^r$$ for all $r>0$ and all homogeneous ideals $I$ in $S = \mathbb{F} [\mathbb{P}^N] = \mathbb{F} [x_0, \ldots, x_N]$. The conjecture has been disproven for select values of $N \ge 2$: first by Dumnicki, Szemberg, and Tutaj-Gasińska in characteristic zero, and then by Harbourne and Seceleanu in odd positive characteristic. However, the ideal containments above do hold when, for instance, $I$ is a monomial ideal in $S$. As a sequel to (arXiv:1510.02993), we present criteria for containments of type $I^{…
We prove that, under some additional assumption, Putinar's Positivstellensatz holds on cylinders of type $S \times {\mathbb R}$ with $S = \{x \in {\mathbb R}^n | g_1(x) \ge 0, ..., g_s(x) \ge 0\}$ such that the quadratic module generated by $g_1, ..., g_s$ in ${\mathbb R}[X_1, ..., X_n]$ is archimedean, and we provide a degree bound for the representation of a polynomial $f \in {\mathbb R}[X_1, ..., X_n, Y]$ which is positive on $S \times {\mathbb R}$ as an explicit element of the quadratic module generated by $g_1, ..., g_s$ in ${\mathbb R}[X_1, ..., X_n, Y]$. We also include an example to sh…
We prove two kinds of $\mathbb{Z}/2$-periodic Koszul duality equivalences for triangulated categories of matrix factorizations associated with $(-1)$-shifted cotangents over quasi-smooth affine derived schemes. We use this result to define $\mathbb{Z}/2$-periodic version of Donaldson-Thomas categories for local surfaces, whose $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$-equivariant version was introduced and developed in the author's previous paper. We compare $\mathbb{Z}/2$-periodic DT category with the $\mathbb{C}^{\ast}$-equivariant one, and deduce wall-crossing equivalences of $\mathbb{Z}/2$-periodic DT categorie…
This paper is devoted to a study of the relative version of a Mori dream space (MDS for short), which was first introduced by Andreatta and Wiśnewski and will be called Mori dream morphism (MDM) in this paper. An MDM is defined to be an algebraic fiber space between normal quasi-projective varieties $ X \to U$ such that $\operatorname{Pic}(X/U)_{\mathbb{Q}}=\operatorname{N} ^1(X/U)_{\mathbb{Q}}$ and the (relative) movable cone is decomposed into the semi-ample cones of finitely many small $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial modifications, each of which is assumed to be rational polyhedral. An MDS is an MDM…
In this paper, we prove an $\mathbb{A}^1$-homology version of the Whitehead theorem with dimension bound. We also prove an excision theorem for $\mathbb{A}^1$-homology, Suslin homology and $\mathbb{A}^1$-homotopy sheaves. In order to prove these results, we develop a general theory of relative $\mathbb{A}^1$-homology and $\mathbb{A}^1$-homotopy sheaves. As an application, we compute the relative $\mathbb{A}^1$-homology of a hyperplane embedding $\mathbb{P}^{n-1} \hookrightarrow \mathbb{P}^{n}$.
We prove that a map germ $f:(\mathbb{C}^n,S)\to(\mathbb{C}^{n+1},0)$ with isolated instability is stable if and only if $μ_I(f)=0$, where $μ_I(f)$ is the image Milnor number defined by Mond. In a previous paper we proved this result with the additional assumption that $f$ has corank one. The proof here is also valid for corank $\ge 2$, provided that $(n,n+1)$ are nice dimensions in Mather's sense (so $μ_I(f)$ is well defined). Our result can be seen as a weak version of a conjecture by Mond, which says that the $\mathcal{A}_e$-codimension of $f$ is $\le μ_I(f)$, with equality if $f$ is weighte…
In this paper, we study $\mathbb{A}^1$-connected varieties from log geometry point of view, and prove a criterion for $\mathbb{A}^1$-connectedness. As applications, we provide many interesting examples of $\mathbb{A}^1$-connected varieties in the case of complements of ample divisors, and the case of homogeneous spaces. We also obtain a logarithmic version of Hartshorne's conjecture characterizing projective spaces and affine spaces.
We consider versions of the local duality theorem in $\mathbb{C}^n$. We show that there exist canonical pairings in these versions of the duality theorem which can be expressed explicitly in terms of residues of Grothendieck, or in terms of residue currents of Coleff-Herrera and Andersson-Wulcan, and we give several different proofs of non-degeneracy of the pairings. One of the proofs of non-degeneracy uses the theory of linkage, and conversely, we can use the non-degeneracy to obtain results about linkage for modules. We also discuss a variant of such pairings based on residues considered by …
We generalize the combinatorial description of the orbifold (Chen--Ruan) cohomology and of the Grothendieck ring of a Deligne--Mumford toric stack and its associated stacky fan in a lattice $N$ in the presence of a deformation parameter $β\in N \otimes {\mathbb C}.$ As an application, we construct a topological mirror symmetry map that produces a complete system of $Γ$--series solutions to the better behaved version of the GKZ hypergeometric system for $β\in N \otimes {\mathbb C}.$
The main result of this paper is to prove the strong real Jacobian conjecture under the symmetric assumption and reveals the link between it and the Jacobian conjecture. Precisely, we assume that $F: \mathbb{R}^n \to \mathbb{R}^n$ is of $C^1$ map, $n\geqslant 2$, if for some $\varepsilon >0$, $ 0\notin Spec(F)~~\mbox{and}~ Spec(F+F^T) \subseteq (-\infty,-\varepsilon)~\mbox{or} ~(\varepsilon,+\infty),$ where $Spec (F)$ denotes all eigenvalues of $JF$ and $Spec (F+F^T)$ denotes all eigenvalues of $JF+JF^T$, then we show that $F$ is injective. It is proved by using a minimax argument.
For an integer $e$ and hyperbolic curve $X$ over $\overline{\mathbb Q}$, Mochizuki showed that there are only finitely many isomorphism classes of hyperbolic curves $Y$ of Euler characteristic $e$ with the same universal cover as $X$. We use Arakelov theory to prove an effective version of this finiteness statement.
We obtain families of non-isotopic closed exact Lagrangian submanifolds in quasi-projective holomorphic symplectic manifolds that admit contracting $\mathbb{C}^*$-actions. We show that the Floer cohomologies of these Lagrangians are topological in nature, recovering the ordinary cohomologies of their intersection. Moreover, by using these Lagrangians and a version of Carrell-Goresky's integral decomposition theorem, we obtain degree-wise lower bounds on the symplectic cohomology of these spaces.
