Let $M_k^{(n)}$ be the space of Siegel modular forms of degree $n$ and even weight $k$. In this paper firstly a certain subspace $\mathsf{Spez}(M_k^{(2n)})$ the Spezialschar of $M_k^{(2n)}$ is introduced. In the setting of the Siegel three-fold it is proven that this Spezialschar is the Maass Spezialschar. Secondly an embedding of $M_k^{(2)}$ into a direct sum $\oplus_{ν= 0}^{\lfloor \frac{k}{10} \rfloor} \text{Sym}^2 M_{k + 2 ν}$ is given. This leads to a basic characterization of the Spezialschar property. The results of this paper are directly related to the non-vanishing of certain special values of L-functions related to the Gross-Prasad conjecture. This is illustrated by a significant example in the paper.
In this paper the image of the Saito-Kurokawa lift of level $N$ with Dirichlet character is studied. We give a new characterization of this so called Maass Spezialschar of level $N$ by symmetries involving Hecke operators related to $Γ_0(N)$. We finally obtain for all prime numbers $p$ local Maass relations. This generalizes known results for level $N=1$.

We show that Landau-Siegel zeros for Dirichlet $L$-functions do not exist or quantum unique ergodicity for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ Hecke-Maass newforms holds with an effective rate of convergence. This follows from a more general result: Landau-Siegel zeros of Dirichlet $L$-functions repel the zeros of all other automorphic $L$-functions from the line $\mathrm{Re}(s)=1$.
We investigate Poincaré series, where we average products of terms of Fourier series of real-analytic Siegel modular forms. There are some (trivial) special cases for which the products of terms of Fourier series of elliptic modular forms and harmonic Maass forms are almost holomorphic, in which case the corresponding Poincaré series are almost holomorphic as well. In general this is not the case. The main point of this paper is the study of Siegel-Poincaré series of degree $2$ attached to products of terms of Fourier series of harmonic Siegel-Maass forms and holomorphic Siegel modular forms. …
Kohnen introduced a limit process for Siegel modular forms that produces Jacobi forms. He asked if there is a space of real-analytic Siegel modular forms such that skew-holomorphic Jacobi forms arise via this limit process. In this paper, we initiate the study of harmonic skew-Maass-Jacobi forms and harmonic Siegel-Maass forms. We improve a result of Maass on the Fourier coefficients of harmonic Siegel-Maass forms, which allows us to establish a connection to harmonic skew-Maass-Jacobi forms. In particular, we answer Kohnen's question in the affirmative.
We derive the Fourier expansion of scalar-valued Eisenstein series for O(2, n+2) using classical methods of Siegel, Braun, Zagier, Bruinier and others. We assume that the underlying lattice splits two hyperbolic planes. Finally we prove for the Eisenstein series at the standard cusp that they belong to the Maass space for O(2, n + 2), an analogue of the "Spezialschar" for Siegel modular forms introduced by Maass, at least at all local places p, where the localization of the underlying lattice is maximal.
The classical Maass lift is a map from holomorphic Jacobi forms to holomorphic scalar-valued Siegel modular forms. Automorphic representation theory predicts a non-holomorphic and vector-valued analogue for Hecke eigenforms. This paper is the first part of a series of papers. In this series of papers, we provide an explicit construction of the non-holomorphic Maass lift that is linear and also applies to non-eigenforms. In this first part, we develop new techniques to study Fourier series expansions of Siegel modular forms, which allow us to construct a Maass lift from harmonic Maass-Jacobi fo…
We investigate so-called "higher" Siegel theta lifts on Lorentzian lattices in the spirit of Bruinier-Ehlen-Yang and Bruinier-Schwagenscheidt. We give a series representation of the lift in terms of Gauss hypergeometric functions, and evaluate the lift as the constant term of a Fourier series involving the Rankin-Cohen bracket of harmonic Maass forms and theta functions. Using the higher Siegel lifts, we obtain a vector-valued analogue of Mertens' result stating that the Rankin--Cohen bracket of the holomorphic part of a harmonic Maass form of weight $\frac{3}{2}$ and a unary theta function, p…
Some generalizations of the Maass relation for Siegel modular forms of higher degrees have been obtained by several authors. In the present article we first give a new generalization of the Maass relation for Siegel-Eisenstein series of arbitrary degrees. Furthermore, we show that the Duke-Imamoglu-Ibukiyama-Ikeda lifts satisfy this generalized Maass relation with some modifications. As an application of the generalized Maass relation in the present article we give a new proof of the Miyawaki-Ikeda lifts of two elliptic modular forms. Namely, we compute the standard L-function of the Miyawaki-…
Let $j(z)$ be the modular $j$-invariant function. Let $τ$ be an algebraic number in the complex upper half plane $\mathbb{H}$. It was proved by Schneider and Siegel that if $τ$ is not a CM point, i.e., $[\mathbb{Q}(τ):\mathbb{Q}]\neq2$, then $j(τ)$ is transcendental. Let $f$ be a harmonic weak Maass form of weight $0$ on $Γ_0(N)$. In this paper, we consider an extension of the results of Schneider and Siegel to a family of values of $f$ on Hecke orbits of $τ$. For a positive integer $m$, let $T_m$ denote the $m$-th Hecke operator. Suppose that the coefficients of the principal part of $f$ at t…
In this article, we prove an omega-result for the Hecke eigenvalues $λ_F(n)$ of Maass forms $F$ which are Hecke eigenforms in the space of Siegel modular forms of weight $k$, genus two for the Siegel modular group $Sp_2(\Z)$. In particular, we prove $$ λ_F(n)= Ω(n^{k-1}\text{exp} (c \frac{\sqrt{\log n}}{\log\log n})), $$ when $c>0$ is an absolute constant. This improves the earlier result $$ λ_F(n)= Ω(n^{k-1} (\frac{\sqrt{\log n}}{\log\log n})) $$ of Das and the third author. We also show that for any $n \ge 3$, one has $$ λ_F(n) \leq n^{k-1}\text{exp} \left(c_1\sqrt{\frac{\log n}{\log\log n}}…
The aim of this paper is to generalize the Maass relation for generalized Cohen-Eisenstein series of degree two and of degree three. Here the generalized Cohen-Eisenstein series are certain Siegel modular forms of half-integral weight, and generalized Maass relations are certain relations among Fourier-Jacobi coefficients of them.
In this paper we describe a characterization for the Maass space associated with the paramodular group of degree $2$ and squarefree level $N$. As an application we show that the Maass space is invariant under all Hecke operators. As a consequence we conclude that the associated Siegel-Eisenstein series belongs to the Maass space.
For an arbitrary even genus $2n$ we show that the subspace of Siegel cusp forms of degree $2n$ generated by Ikeda lifts of elliptic cusp forms can be characterized by certain linear relations among Fourier coefficients. This generatizes the work of Kohnen and Kojima.
It is known that among Siegel modular forms of degree $2$ and level $1$ the only functions that violate the Ramanujan conjecture are Saito-Kurokawa lifts of modular forms of level $1$. These are precisely the functions whose Fourier coefficients satisfy Maass relations. More generally, the Ramanujan conjecture for $\mathrm{GSp}_4$ is predicted to fail only in case of CAP representations. It is not known though whether the associated Siegel modular forms (of various levels) still satisfy a version of Maass relations. We show that this is indeed the case for the ones related to P-CAP representat…
We address the problem of the determination of the images of the Galois representations attached to genus 2 Siegel cusp forms of level 1 having multiplicity one. These representations are symplectic. We prove that the images are as large as possible for almost every prime, if the Siegel cusp form is not a Maass spezialform and verifies two easy to check conditions.
In this work we prove a prime number type theorem involving the normalised Fourier coefficients of holomorphic and Maass cusp forms, using the classical circle method. A key point is in a recent paper of Fouvry and Ganguly, based on Hoffstein-Ramakrishnan's result about the non-existence of the Siegel zeros for $GL(2)$ $L$-functions, which allows us to improve preceding estimates.
In this paper, we calculate the Fourier coefficients of the paramodular twist of a Siegel modular form of paramodular level $N$ by a nontrivial quadratic Dirichlet character mod $p$ for $p$ a prime not dividing $N$. As an application, these formulas can be used to verify the nonvanishing of the twist for particular examples. We also deduce that the twists of Maass forms are identically zero.
The aim of this paper is to show lifts from pairs of two elliptic modular forms to Siegel modular forms of half-integral weight of even degree under the assumption that the constructed Siegel modular form is not identically zero. The key of the proof is to introduce a certain generalization of the Maass relation for Siegel modular forms of half-integral weight of general degree.
For any positive integers $n$ and $m$, $\mathbb{H}_{n,m}:=\mathbb{H}_n\times\mathbb{C}^{(m,n)}$ is called the Siegel-Jacobi space, with the Jacobi group acting on it. The Jacobi forms are defined on this space. In this article we compute the Chern connection of the Siegel-Jacobi space and use it to obtain derivations of Jacobi forms. Using these results, we constructed a series of invariant differential operators for Siegel-Jacobi forms. Also two kinds of Maass-Shimura type differential operators for $\mathbb{H}_{n,m}$ are obtained.
We consider the Hermitian Eisenstein series $E^{(\mathbb{K})}_k$ of degree $2$ and weight $k$ associated with an imaginary-quadratic number field $\mathbb{K}$ and determine the influence of $\mathbb{K}$ on the arithmetic and the growth of its Fourier coefficients. We find that they satisfy the identity $E^{{(\mathbb{K})}^2}_4 = E^{{(\mathbb{K})}}_8$, which is well-known for Siegel modular forms of degree $2$, if and only if $\mathbb{K} = \mathbb{Q} (\sqrt{-3})$. As an application, we show that the Eisenstein series $E^{(\mathbb{K})}_k$, $k=4,6,8,10,12$ are algebraically independent whenever $\…
Let F be a square integrable Maass form on the Siegel upper half space of rank 2 for the Siegel modular group Sp(4, Z) with Laplace eigenvalue lambda. If, in addition, F is a joint eigenfunction of the Hecke algebra, we show a power-saving sup-norm bound in terms of lambda (relative to the generic bound) for F restricted to a compact set. As an auxiliary result of independent interest we prove new uniform bounds for spherical functions on semisimple Lie groups.
We characterize the irreducible, admissible, spherical representations of GSp(4,F) (where F is a p-adic field) that occur in certain CAP representations in terms of relations satisfied by their spherical vector in a special Bessel model. These local relations are analogous to the Maass relations satisfied by the Fourier coefficients of Siegel modular forms of degree 2 in the image of the Saito-Kurokawa lifting. We show how the classical Maass relations can be deduced from the local relations in a representation theoretic way, without recourse to the construction of Saito-Kurokawa lifts in term…
We investigate the norm of a degree 2 Siegel modular form of asymptotically large weight whose argument is restricted to the 3-dimensional subspace of its imaginary part. On average over Saito-Kurokawa lifts an asymptotic formula is established that is consistent with the mass equidistribution conjecture on the Siegel upper half space as well as the Lindelof hypothesis for the corresponding Koecher-Maass series. The ingredients include a new relative trace formula for pairs of Heegner periods.
In this article we obtain an explicit formula for certain Rankin-Selberg type Dirichlet series associated to certain Siegel cusp forms of half-integral weight. Here these Siegel cusp forms of half-integral weight are obtained from the composition of the Ikeda lift and the Eichler-Zagier-Ibukiyama correspondence. The integral weight version of the main theorem had been obtained by Katsurada and Kawamura. The result of the integral weight case is a product of $L$-function and Riemann zeta functions, while half-integral weight case is a infinite summation over negative fundamental discriminants w…
Let pi be a cuspidal, automorphic representation of GSp(4) attached to a Siegel modular form of degree 2. We refine the method of Furusawa to obtain an integral representation for the degree-8 L-function L(s,pi x tau), where tau runs through certain cuspidal, automorphic representation of GL(2). Our calculations include the case of square-free level for the p-adic components of tau, and a wide class of archimedean types including Maass forms. As an application we obtain a special value result for L(s,pi x tau).
Serre obtained the p-adic limit of the integral Fourier coefficient of modular forms on $SL_2(\mathbb{Z})$ for $p=2,3,5,7$. In this paper, we extend the result of Serre to weakly holomorphic modular forms of half integral weight on $Γ_{0}(4N)$ for $N=1,2,4$. A proof is based on linear relations among Fourier coefficients of modular forms of half integral weight. As applications we obtain congruences of Borcherds exponents, congruences of quotient of Eisentein series and congruences of values of $L$-functions at a certain point are also studied. Furthermore, the congruences of the Fourier coeff…
Let $π$ and $π_0$ be unitary cuspidal automorphic representations. We prove log-free zero density estimates for Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions of the form $L(s,π\timesπ_0)$, where $π$ varies in a given family and $π_0$ is fixed. These estimates are unconditional in many cases of interest; they hold in full generality assuming an average form of the generalized Ramanujan conjecture. We consider applications of these estimates related to mass equidistribution for Hecke-Maass forms, the rarity of Landau-Siegel zeros of Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions, the Chebotarev density theorem, and $\ell$-torsion…
