In this work we have shown bulk superconductivity and studied the anisotropy in both the normal and superconducting states in quasi-1D conductor Nb2Se3. Electron - electron Umklapp scattering dominates electronic transport along the direction of Nb metal chains as well as perpendicular to it. The superconducting state is rather anisotropic with possible multi - band features.
We report a systematic study of anisotropy resistivity, magnetoresistance and Hall effect of Li0.32(NH3)yFe2Te1.2Se0.8 single crystals. When compared to the parent compound FeTe0.6Se0.4, the Li-NH3 intercalation not only increases the superconducting transition temperature, but also enhances the electronic anisotropy in both normal and superconducting states. Moreover, in contrast to the parent compound, the Hall coefficient RH becomes negative at low temperature, indicating electron-type carriers are dominant due to Li doping. On the other hand, the sign reverse of RH at high temperature and …
We investigate the superconducting properties and possible nematic superconductivity of self-doped BiCh2-based (Ch: S, Se) superconductor CeOBiS1.7Se0.3 through the measurements of in-plane anisotropy of magnetoresistance. Single crystals of CeOBiS1.7Se0.3 were grown using a flux method. Single-crystal structural analysis revealed that the crystal structure at room temperature is tetragonal (P4/nmm). Bulk superconductivity with a transition temperature of 3.3 K was observed through electrical resistivity and magnetization measurements. Investigation of anisotropy of upper critical field sugges…
Exotic superconductivity is formed by unconventional electron pairing and exhibits various unique properties that cannot be explained by the basic theory. The Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state is known as an exotic superconducting state in that the electron pairs have a finite center-of-mass momentum leading to a spatially modulated pattern of superconductivity. The spatial modulation endows the FFLO state with emergent anisotropy. However, the anisotropy has never been experimentally verified despite numerous efforts over the years. Here, we report detection of anisotropic acousti…
FeSe is a unique superconductor that can be manipulated to enhance its superconductivity using different routes while its monolayer form grown on different substrates reaches a record high temperature for a two-dimensional system. In order to understand the role played by the substrate and the reduced dimensionality on superconductivity, we examine the superconducting properties of exfoliated FeSe thin flakes by reducing the thickness from bulk down towards 9 nm. Magnetotransport measurements performed in magnetic fields up to 16T and temperatures down to 2K help to build up complete supercond…
The interaction between superconductivity and ferromagnetism in thin film superconductor/ferromagnet heterostructures is usually reflected by a change in superconductivity of the S layer set by the magnetic state of the F layers. Here we report the converse effect: transformation of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of a single Fe(001) layer, and thus its preferred magnetization orientation, driven by the superconductivity of an underlying V layer through a spin-orbit coupled MgO interface. We attribute this to an additional contribution to the free energy of the ferromagnet arising from the c…
We have investigated Se substitution effect to superconductivity of an optimally-doped BiS2-based superconductor Eu0.5La0.5FBiS2. Eu0.5La0.5FBiS2-xSex samples with x = 0-1 were synthesized. With increasing x, in-plane chemical pressure is enhanced. For x = 0.6, 0.8, and 1, superconducting transitions with a large shielding volume fraction are observed in magnetic susceptibility measurements, and the highest Tc is 3.8 K for x = 0.8. From low-temperature electrical resistivity measurements, a zero-resistivity state is observed for all the samples, and the highest Tc is observed for x = 0.8. With…
Sn0.8Ag0.2Te is a new superconductor with Tc ~ 2.4 K. The superconducting properties of Sn0.8Ag0.2Te have been investigated by specific heat measurements under magnetic fields. Bulk nature of superconductivity was confirmed from the amplitude of the specific heat jump at the superconducting transition, and the amplitude is consistent with fully-gapped superconductivity. Upper critical field was estimated from specific heat and electrical resistivity measurements under magnetic fields. The Hall coefficient was positive, suggesting that the Ag acts as a p-type dopant in Sn0.8Ag0.2Te.
By using a hydrothermal method, we have successfully grown crystals of the newly discovered superconductor FeS, which has an isostructure of the iron based superconductor FeSe. The superconductivity appears at about 4.5K, as revealed by both resistive and magnetization measurements. It is found that the upper critical field is relatively low, with however an rather large anisotropy $Γ=[(dH_{c2}^{ab}/dT)/(dH_{c2}^{c}/dT)]_{T_c}\approx5.8$. A huge magnetoresistivity (290$\%$ at 9T and 10K, ${H}$ $\parallel$ c-axis) together with a non-linear behavior of Hall resistivity vs. external field are ob…
We investigated the effects of $c/a$ anisotropy and local crystal structure on superconductivity (SC) in As/P solid solution systems, $A\mathrm{Fe_{2}}(\mathrm{As}_{1-x}\mathrm{P}_{x}\mathrm{)_{2}}$ ($A$122P) with various $A$ ions. With decreasing $A$ site atomic size from $A$=Ba to Eu, the structural anisotropy decreases, and the rate of decreasing with $x$ also increases. The rapid narrowing of the region of antiferromagnetic composition ($x$) can be considered to be a result of this anisotropy change due mainly to the change in the Fermi surface (FS) nesting condition. By contrast, although…
Anisotropy in the electrical resistivity and susceptibility of superconducting BaFe$_{2}$As$_{2}$ single crystals
用自熔法生长了$BaFe_2As_2$单晶。
The recent study of $^{77}$Se nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in a $β$-FeSe single crystal proposed that ferro-orbital order breaks the $90^\circ$ $C_4$ rotational symmetry, driving nematic ordering. Here, we report an NMR study of the impact of small strains generated by gluing on nematic state and spin fluctuations. We observe that the local strains strongly affect the nematic transition, considerably enhancing its onset temperature. On the contrary, no effect on low-energy spin fluctuations was found. Furthermore we investigate the interplay of the nematic phase and superconductivity. Our …
The capability to switch electrically between superconducting and insulating states of matter represents a novel paradigm in the state-of-the-art engineering of correlated electronic systems. An exciting possibility is to turn on superconductivity in a topologically non-trivial insulator, which provides a route to search for non-Abelian topological states. However, existing demonstrations of superconductor-insulator switches have involved only topologically trivial systems, and even those are rare due to the stringent requirement to tune the carrier density over a wide range. Here we report re…
Twisted graphene multilayers have demonstrated to yield a versatile playground to engineer controllable electronic states. Here, by combining first-principles calculations and low-energy models, we demonstrate that twisted graphene trilayers provide a tunable system where van Hove singularities can be controlled electrically. In particular, it is shown that besides the band flattening, bulk valley currents appear, which can be quenched by local chemical dopants. We finally show that in the presence of electronic interactions, a non-uniform superfluid density emerges, whose non-uniformity gives…
We investigate the physical mechanisms for achieving an electrical control of conventional spin-singlet superconductivity in thin films by focusing on the role of surface orbital polarization. Assuming a multi-orbital description of the metallic state, due to screening effects the electric field acts by modifying the strength of the surface potential and, in turn, yields non-trivial orbital-Rashba couplings. The resulting orbital polarization at the surface and in its close proximity is shown to have a dramatic impact on superconductivity. We demonstrate that, by varying the strength of the el…

Comment on ``Anisotropic s-wave superconductivity: comparison with experiments on MgB_2 [A. I. Posazhennikova, T. Dahm and K. Maki, cond-mat/0204272; submitted to Europhys. Lett.]
The 12442 compounds are a recently discovered family of iron-based superconductors, that share several features with the cuprates due to their strongly anisotropic structure, but are so far poorly understood. Here, we report on the gap structure and anisotropy of RbCa2(Fe1-xNix)4As4F2 single crystals, investigated by a combination of directional point-contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy and coplanar waveguide resonator measurements. Two gaps were identified, with clear signatures of d-wave-like nodal structures which persist upon Ni doping, well described by a two-band d-d state with symme…
The missing hole packets near the Brillouin zone center render unique electronic structures to the heavily electron doped FeSe-based superconductors with Tc above 40 K. It challenges the existing scenario accounting for the nature of superconductivity in the iron-based family. Yet, one hurdle that has to be overcome is the materials complexity in the rather limited number of compounds. Here we report the growth of heavily electron doped Li-NH3 intercalated FeSe single crystals that are free of such complexities and allow access to the intrinsic superconducting properties. Our results show extr…
Controlling the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in thin films has received considerable attention in recent years due to its technological importance. PMA based devices usually involve heavy-metal (oxide)/ferromagnetic-metal bilayers, where, thanks to interfacial spin-orbit coupling (SOC), the in-plane (IP) stability of the magnetization is broken. Here we show that in V/MgO/Fe(001) epitaxial junctions with competing in-plane and out-of-plane (OOP) magnetic anisotropies, the SOC mediated interaction between a ferromagnet (FM) and a superconductor (SC) enhances the effective PMA below t…
The recent observation of superconductivity in thin film infinite-layer nickelates$^{1-3}$ offers a different angle to investigate superconductivity in layered oxides$^{4}$. A wide range of candidate models have been proposed$^{5-10}$, emphasizing single- or multi-orbital electronic structure, Kondo or Hund's coupling, and analogies to cuprates. Clearly, further experimental characterization of the superconducting state is needed to develop a full understanding of the nickelates. Here we use magnetotransport measurements to probe the superconducting anisotropy in Nd$_{0.775}$Sr$_{0.225}$NiO$_{…
Recent studies on superconductivity in NbSe$_2$ have demonstrated a large anisotropy in the superconducting critical field when the material is reduced to a single monolayer. Motivated by this recent discovery, we use density functional theory (DFT) calculations to quantitatively address the superconducting properties of bulk and monolayer NbSe$_2$. We demonstrate that NbSe$_2$ is close to a ferromagnetic instability, and analyze our results in the context of experimental measurements of the spin susceptibility in NbSe$_2$. We show how this magnetic instability, which is pronounced in a single…
In-plane anisotropy of electrical resistivity in the strain-detwinned SrFe2As2
Superconductivity in many strongly correlated materials appears in proximity to a density-wave or nematic order and is believed to be mediated by quantum-critical (QC) fluctuations of the corresponding order parameter. We argue that fingerprints of QC pairing can be extracted from the angular dependence of the gap $Δ(θ)$. We consider pairing by QC nematic fluctuations and show that there exist multiple pairing instabilities within the same symmetry ($s-$wave in our case), with closely spaced transition temperatures $T_{c,n}$. The corresponding $Δ_n (θ)$ change sign $8n$ times along the FS. Onl…
We study the intrinsic anisotropy of the superconducting state in KFe$_2$As$_2$, using small-angle neutron scattering to image the vortex lattice as the applied magnetic field is rotated towards the FeAs crystalline planes. The anisotropy is found to be strongly field dependent, indicating multiband superconductivity. Furthermore, the high field anisotropy significantly exceeds that of the upper critical field, providing further support for Pauli limiting in KFe$_2$As$_2$ for field applied in the basal plane. The effect of Pauli paramagnetism on the unpaired quasiparticles in the vortex cores …
Superconductivity in the presence of disorder in skutterudite-related La$_3$Co$_4$Sn$_{13}$ and La$_3$Ru$_4$Sn$_{13}$ compounds; electrical transport and magnetic studies
