We consider a modification of the standard Einstein theory in four dimensions, alternative to R. Jackiw and S.-Y. Pi, Phys. Rev. D 68, 104012 (2003), since it is based on the first-order (Einstein-Cartan) approach to General Relativity, whose gauge structure is manifest. This is done by introducing an additional topological term in the action which becomes a Lorentz-violating term by virtue of the dependence of the coupling on the space-time point. We obtain a condition on the solutions of the Einstein equations, such that they persist in the deformed theory, and show that the solutions remarkably correspond to the classical solutions of a collection of independent 2+1-d (topological) Chern-Simons gravities. Finally, we study the relation with the standard second-order approach and argue that they both coincide to leading order in the modulus of the Lorentz-violating vector field.
We show that in the functional integral formalism the (finite) coefficient of the induced, Lorentz- and CPT-violating Chern-Simons term, arising from the Lorentz- and CPT-violating fermion sector, is undetermined.
We calculate the induced Lorentz- and CPT-violating Chern-Simons term arising from the Lorentz- and CPT-violating sector of quantum electrodynamics with a $b_μ\barψγ^μγ_5ψ$ term. The result to all orders in $b$ coincides with the previous linear-in-$b$ calulation by Chung and Oh [hep-th/9812132] as well as Jackiw and Kostelecký [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 82}, 3572 (1999)], since all higher order terms vanish.
We calculate by the method of dimensional regularization and derivative expansion the one-loop effective action for a Dirac fermion with a Lorentz-violating and CPT-odd kinetic term in the background of a gauge field. We show that this term induces a Chern-Simons modification to Maxwell theory. Some related issues are also discussed.
We demonstrate generation of the two-dimensional Chern-Simons-like Lorentz-breaking action via an appropriate Lorentz-breaking coupling of scalar and spinor fields at zero as well as at the finite temperature and via the noncommutative fields method and study the dispersion relations corresponding to this action.
We have studied BPS vortices in a CPT-odd and Lorentz-violating Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs (MCSH) electrodynamics attained from the dimensional reduction of the Carroll-Field-Jackiw-Higgs model. The Lorentz-violating parameter induces a pronounced behavior at origin (for the magnetic/electric fields and energy density) which is absent in the MCSH vortices. For some combination of the Lorentz-violating coefficients there always exist a sufficiently large winding number $n_{0}$ such that for all $% |n|\geq |n_{0}|$ the magnetic field flips its signal, yielding two well defined regions with oppos…
Lorentz and CPT violating QED with massless fermions at finite temperature is studied. We show that there is no ambiguity in the induced coefficient of the Chern-Simons-like term that defines the so-called Carroll-Field-Jackiw model at high temperature. We also show that this system constitutes an example where the breaking of CPT and Lorentz symmetries is more severe at high temperature than in the zero temperature case thus precluding any naive expectations of Lorentz symmetry restoration.
We analyze the Chern-Simons-like term generation in the CPT-odd Lorentz-violating Yang-Mills theory interacting with fermions. Moreover, we study the anomalies of this model as well as its quantum stability. The whole analysis is performed within the algebraic renormalization theory, which is independent of the renormalization scheme. In addition, all results are valid to all orders in perturbation theory. We find that the Chern-Simons-like term is not generated by radiative corrections, just like its Abelian version. Additionally, the model is also free of gauge anomalies and quantum stable.
In this work, we analyze the generation of the higher-derivative Lorentz-violating Chern-Simons term at zero temperature and at finite temperature. We use the method of derivative expansion and the Matsubara formalism in order to consider the finite temperature effects. The results show that at zero temperature the induced higher-derivative Chern-Simons term is nonzero; in contrast, when the temperature reaches infinity, the coefficients of the induced term vanish. In addition, we also briefly study the question of large gauge invariance of this higher-derivative term as we as the conventional…
Using the Fock-Schwinger proper time method, we calculate the induced Chern-Simons term arising from the Lorentz- and CPT-violating sector of quantum electrodynamics with a $b_μ\barψγ^μγ_5 ψ$ term. Our result to all orders in $b$ coincides with a recent linear-in-$b$ calculation by Chaichian et al. [hep-th/0010129 v2]. The coincidence was pointed out by Chung [Phys. Lett. {\bf B461} (1999) 138] and Pérez-Victoria [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 83} (1999) 2518] in the standard Feynman diagram calculation with the nonperturbative-in-$b$ propagator.
Focusing on gauge degrees of freedom specified by a 1+3 dimensions model hosting a Maxwell term plus a Lorentz and CPT non-invariant Chern-Simons-like contribution, we obtain a minimal extension of such a system to a supersymmetric environment. We comment on resulting peculiar self-couplings for the gauge sector, as well as on background contribution for gaugino masses. Furthermore, a non-polynomial generalization is presented.
The spacetime symmetries of classical electrodynamics supplemented with a Chern-Simons term that contains a constant nondynamical 4-vector are investigated. In addition to translation invariance and the expected three remaining Lorentz symmetries characterized by the little group of the external vector, the model possesses an additional spacetime symmetry if the nondynamical vector is lightlike. The conserved current associated with this invariance is determined, and the symmetry structure arising from this invariance and the usual little group ISO(2) is identified as SIM(2).
In the context of Chern--Simons (CS) Theory, a subspace separation method for the Lagrangian is proposed. The method is based on the iterative use of the Extended Cartan Homotopy Formula, and allows one to (1) separate the action in bulk and boundary contributions, and (2) systematically split the Lagrangian in appropriate reflection of the the subspace structure of the gauge algebra. In order to apply the method, one must regard CS forms as a particular case of more general objects known as transgression forms. Five-dimensional CS Supergravity is used as an example to illustrate the method.
In the present work, we study different aspects of Lorentz and CPT symmetry violation in extended massless QED. By following the observation that the 2+1 dimensional Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory can be originated from the 3+1 dimensional Chern-Simons-like action, we also focus on the fermion sector to relate the 3+1 dimensional extended massless QED to 2+1 dimensional massive QED. We take advantage of this to state that the Chern-Simons-like action in extended massless QED can be induced with its coefficient being well defined and finite just as its 2+1 counterpart. We make use of three differe…
The gauge-invariant Chern-Simons-type Lorentz- and CPT-breaking term is here re-assessed and issues like causality, unitarity, spontaneous gauge-symmetry breaking are investigated. Moreover, we obtain a minimal extension of such a system to a supersymmetric environment. We comment on resulting peculiar self-couplings for the gauge sector, as well as on background contribution for gaugino masses.
The radiative induction of the CPT and Lorentz violating Chern-Simons (CS) term is reassessed. The massless and massive models are studied. Special attention is given to the preservation of gauge symmetry at higher orders in the background vector $b_μ$ when radiative corrections are considered. Both the study of the odd and even parity sectors of the complete vacuum polarization tensor at one-loop order and a non-perturbative analysis show that this symmetry must be preserved by the quantum corrections. As a complement we obtain that transversality of the polarization tensor does not fix the v…
In this paper, we consider spin-3 Chern-Simons-like theories of gravity as extended theories of spin-3 gravity in (2+1)- dimension. In order to determine the number of local degrees of freedom we present the Hamiltonian formulation of these theories. We extract the Hamiltonian density, then we find primary and secondary constraints of these theories. Then we obtain the Poisson brackets of the primary and the secondary constraints. After that we count the number of local degrees of freedom of spin-3 Chern-Simons-like theories of gravity. We apply this method on spin-3 Einstein-Cartan gravity an…
One starts from a planar Maxwell-Chern-Simons model endowed with a Lorentz-violating term. The Dirac sector is introduced exhibiting a Yukawa and a minimal coupling with the scalar scalar and the gauge fields, respectively. One then evaluates the electron-electron interaction as the Fourier transform of the Moller scattering amplitude carried out in the non-relativistic limit. In the case of a purely time-like background, the interaction potential can be exactly solved, exhibiting a typical massless behavior far from the origin. The scalar interaction potential is always attractive whereas the…
A planar Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Proca model endowed with a Lorentz-violating background is taken as framework to investigate the electron-electron interaction. The Dirac sector is introduced exhibiting a Yukawa and a minimal coupling with the scalar and the gauge fields, respectively. The the electron-electron interaction is then exactly evaluated as the Fourier transform of the Moller scattering amplitude (carried out in the non-relativistic limit) for the case of a purely time-like background. The interaction potential exhibits a totally screened behavior far from the origin as consequence of …
We study the radiatively induced Lorentz-violating terms at finite temperature, namely, the higher-derivative term and the Chern-Simons term. These terms are induced by integrating out the fermions coupled to the coefficient $g^{κμν}$. The calculation of the resulting expressions is performed by using the derivative expansion and the Matsubara formalism. The Chern-Simons terms is nonzero only at finite temperature, whereas the higher-derivative term is finite at zero temperature, however, it goes to zero as the temperature grows to infinity. We also obtain a higher-derivative Chern-Simons term…
We examine the nonperturbative structure of the radiatively induced Chern-Simons term in a Lorentz- and CPT-violating modification of QED. Although the coefficient of the induced Chern-Simons term is in general undetermined, the nonperturbative theory appears to generate a definite value. However, the CPT-even radiative corrections in this same formulation of the theory generally break gauge invariance. We show that gauge invariance may yet be preserved through the use of a Pauli-Villars regulator, and, contrary to earlier expectations, this regulator does not necessarily give rise to a vanish…
We take as starting point the planar model arising from the dimensional reduction of the Maxwell Electrodynamics with the (Lorentz-violating) Carroll-Field-Jackiw term. We then write and study the extended Maxwell equations and the corresponding wave equations for the potentials. The solution to these equations show some interesting deviations from the usual MCS Electrodynamics, with background-dependent correction terms. In the case of a time-like background, the correction terms dominate over the MCS sector in the region far from the origin, and establish the behaviour of a massless Electrod…
We consider a Lorentz-violating modification to the fermionic Lagrangian of QED that is known to produce a finite Chern-Simons term at leading order. We compute the second order correction to the one-loop photon self-energy in the massless case using an exact propagator and a nonperturbative formulation of the theory. This nonperturbative theory assigns a definite value to the coefficient of the induced Chern-Simons term; however, we find that the theory fails to preserve gauge invariance at higher orders. We conclude that the specific nonperturbative value of the Chern-Simons coefficient has …
In a Lorentz- and CPT-violating modification of electrodynamics that includes a timelike Chern-Simons term, there are no energy losss through vacuum Cerenkov radiation. A charge moving with a constant velocity does not lose energy, because of an unusual cancellation. Higher frequency modes of the electromagnetic field carry away positive energy, but lower frequency modes carry away a compensating negative amount of energy.
We have analyzed Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs BPS vortices in a Lorentz-violating CPT-odd context. The Lorentz violation induces profiles with a conical behavior at the origin. For some combination of the coefficients for Lorentz violation there always exists a sufficiently large winding number for which the magnetic field flips its sign.
Taking as starting point a Lorentz and CPT non-invariant Chern-Simons-like model defined in 1+3 dimensions, we proceed realizing its dimensional reduction to D=1+2. One then obtains a new planar model, composed by the Maxwell-Chern-Simons (MCS) sector, a Klein-Gordon massless scalar field, and a coupling term that mixes the gauge field to the external vector, $v^μ$. In spite of breaking Lorentz invariance in the particle frame, this model may preserve the CPT symmetry for a single particular choice of $v^μ$. Analyzing the dispersion relations, one verifies that the reduced model exhibits stabi…
Self-dual abelian Higgs system, involving both the Maxwell and Chern-Simons terms are obtained from Carroll-Field-Jackiw theory by dimensional reduction. Bogomol'nyi-type equations are studied from theoretical and numerical point of view. In particular we show that the solutions of these equations are Nielsen-Olesen vortices with electric charge.
We study how to generate new Lie algebras $\mathcal{G}(N_0,..., N_p,...,N_n)$ from a given one $\mathcal{G}$. The (order by order) method consists in expanding its Maurer-Cartan one-forms in powers of a real parameter $λ$ which rescales the coordinates of the Lie (super)group $G$, $g^{i_p} \to λ^p g^{i_p}$, in a way subordinated to the splitting of $\mathcal{G}$ as a sum $V_0 \oplus ... \oplus V_p \oplus ... \oplus V_n$ of vector subspaces. We also show that, under certain conditions, one of the obtained algebras may correspond to a generalized İnönü-Wigner contraction in the sense of Weimar-W…
We show in this letter that P- and T-odd terms of the electromagnetic potentials (P; parity, T; time reversal) are induced and lead an unusual phenomenon in P- and T-violating superconductors discovered recently. The Ginzburg-Landau action includes this term in the gauge invariant manner. The coefficient of the term is nearly topological invariant with a small correction and equals to the fine structure constant approximately. Unusual ``Hall effect'' {\it without external} magnetic field could be observed by SQUID.
Taking as starting point the planar model arising from the dimensional reduction of the Abelian-Higgs Carroll-Field-Jackiw model, we write down and study the extended Maxwell equations and the corresponding wave equations for the potentials. The solutions for these equations correspond to the usual ones for the MCS-Proca system, supplemented with background-dependent correction terms. In the case of a purely timelike background, exact algebraic solutions are presented which possess a similar behavior to the MCS-Proca counterparts near and far from the origin. On the other hand, for a purely sp…
We show that the correctly evaluated effective Lagrangian should include short-distance interaction terms which have been avoided under the protection of usual regularization and must be properly identified and reinstated if regularization is to be removed. They have special physical and mathematical significance as well as restoring gauge invariance and suppressing divergence in the effective Lagrangian. The rich structure of the short-distance interaction terms can open up challenging opportunities where the conventional regularization with rigid structure is unavailable and inappropriate. I…
The Chern-Simons-type term in the photon sector of the Lorentz- and CPT-breaking minimal Standard-Model Extension (mSME) is considered. It is argued that under certain circumstances this term can be removed from the mSME. In particular, it is demonstrated that for lightlike Lorentz violation a field redefinition exists that maps the on-shell free Chern-Simons model to conventional on-shell free electrodynamics. A compact explicit expression for an operator implementing such a mapping is constructed. This expression establishes that the field redefinition is non-local.
A wide class of three-dimensional gravity models can be put into "Chern-Simons-like" form. We perform a Hamiltonian analysis of the general model and then specialise to Einstein-Cartan Gravity, General Massive Gravity, the recently proposed Zwei-Dreibein Gravity and a further parity violating generalisation combining the latter two.
It is well known that the presence of multiple constraints of non-Abelian relativisitic Chern--Simons--Higgs vortex equations makes it difficult to develop an existence theory when the underlying Cartan matrix $K$ of the equations is that of a general simple Lie algebra and the strongest result in the literature so far is when the Cartan subalgebra is of dimension 2. In this paper we overcome this difficulty by implicitly resolving the multiple constraints using a degree-theorem argument, utilizing a key positivity property of the inverse of the Cartan matrix deduced in an earlier work of Lusz…
We calculate $q$-dimension of $k$-th Cartan power of fundamental representation $Λ_0$, corresponding to affine root of affine simply laced Kac-Moody algebras, and show that in the limit $q\rightarrow 1 $, and with natural renormalization, it is equal to universal partition function of Chern-Simons theory on three-dimensional sphere.
The parity-violating topological term in the effective action for 2+1 massive fermions is computed at finite temperature in the presence of a constant background field strength tensor. Gauge invariance of the finite-temperature effective action is also discussed.
We construct an action for four-dimensional extended string Newton-Cartan gravity which is an extension of the string Newton-Cartan gravity that underlies nonrelativistic string theory. The action can be obtained as a nonrelativistic limit of the Einstein-Hilbert action in General Relativity augmented with a term that contains an auxiliary two-form and one-form gauge field that both have zero flux on-shell. The four-dimensional extended string Newton-Cartan gravity is based on a central extension of the algebra that underlies string Newton-Cartan gravity. The construction is similar to the ear…
The electrodynamics with a Chern-Simons term $p_μA_ν\widetilde{F}^{μν}$ violates Lorentz and $CPT$ symmetries with a non-vanishing $p_μ$. For a fixed vector $p_μ$, in this paper we point out that the energy-momentum tensor of this theory coupled to the gravity minimally is symmetric but not divergence free, which consequently makes the gravitational field equation inconsistent. To preserve the consistency, we introduce a Chern-Simons term in the gravity sector with the coefficient determined by the Lorentz and $CPT$ violating term in the electromagnetic field. Further we study the phenomenolog…
The combined effects of the Lorentz-symmetry violating Chern-Simons and Ricci-Cotton actions are investigated for the Einstein-Hilbert gravity in the second order formalism modified by higher derivative terms, and their consequences on the spectrum of excitations are analyzed. We follow the lines of previous works and build up an orthonormal basis of operators that splits the fundamental fields according to their individual degrees of freedom. With this new basis, the attainment of the propagators is remarkably simplified and the identification of the physical and unphysical modes gets a new i…
We study the quantization of Chern-Simons theory with group $G$ coupled to dynamical sources. We first study the dynamics of Chern-Simons sources in the Hamiltonian framework. The gauge group of this system is reduced to the Cartan subgroup of $G.$ We show that the Dirac bracket between the basic dynamical variables can be expressed in term of dynamical $r-$matrix of rational type. We then couple minimally these sources to Chern-Simons theory with the use of a regularisation at the location of the sources. In this case, the gauge symmetries of this theory split in two classes, the bulk gauge t…
We investigate the occurrence of ambiguities for Lorentz-violating gravitational Chern-Simons term. It turns out that this term is accompanied by a coefficient depending on an undetermined parameter, due to an arbitrariness in the choice of the conserved current.
We show that the Lagrangian for Lovelock-Cartan gravity theory can be re-formulated as an action which leads to General Relativity in a certain limit. In odd dimensions the Lagrangian leads to a Chern-Simons theory invariant under the generalized Poincaré algebra $\mathfrak{B}_{2n+1},$ while in even dimensions the Lagrangian leads to a Born-Infeld theory invariant under a subalgebra of the $\mathfrak{B}_{2n+1}$ algebra. It is also shown that torsion may occur explicitly in the Lagrangian leading to new torsional Lagrangians, which are related to the Chern-Pontryagin character for the $B_{2n+1}…
We consider the process of photon decay in quantum electrodynamics with a CPT-violating Chern-Simons-like term added to the action. For a simplified model with only the quadratic Maxwell and Chern-Simons-like terms and the quartic Euler-Heisenberg term, we obtain a nonvanishing probability for the decay of a particular photon state into three others.
The issue intensively claimed in the literature on the generation of a CPT-odd and Lorentz violating Chern-Simons-like term by radiative corrections owing to a CPT violating interaction -- the axial coupling of fermions with a constant vector field $b_\m$ -- is mistaken. The presence of massless gauge field triggers IR divergences that might show up from the UV subtractions, therefore, so as to deal with the (actual physical) IR divergences, the Lowenstein-Zimmermann subtraction scheme, in the framework of BPHZL renormalization method, has to be adopted. The proof on the non generation of such…
Einstein gravity in both 3 and 4 dimensions, as well as some interesting generalizations, can be written as gauge theories in which the connection is a Cartan connection for geometry modeled on a symmetric space. The relevant models in 3 dimensions include Einstein gravity in Chern-Simons form, as well as a new formulation of topologically massive gravity, with arbitrary cosmological constant, as a single constrained Chern-Simons action. In 4 dimensions the main model of interest is MacDowell-Mansouri gravity, generalized to include the Immirzi parameter in a natural way. I formulate these the…
We have performed a complete study of self-dual configurations in a $CPT$-odd and Lorentz-violating gauged $O(3)$ nonlinear sigma model. We have consistently implemented the Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) formalism and obtained the correspondent differential first-order equations describing electrically charged self-dual configurations. The total energy and magnetic flux of the vortices, besides being proportional to the winding number, also depend explicitly on the Lorentz-violating coefficients belonging to the sigma sector. The total electrical charge is proportional to the magnetic f…
We compute the parity violating three point amplitudes with one scalar leg in higher spin gravity and compare results with those of Chern-Simons matter theories. The three-point correlators of the free boson, free fermion, critical vector model and Gross-Neveu model are reproduced including the dependence on the Chern-Simons coupling. We also perform a simple test of the modified higher spin equations proposed in arXiv:1605.02662 [hep-th] and find that the results are consistent with the AdS/CFT correspondence.
Recently it has been suggested that junctions between materials with different parity violating properties would be characterized by diffusion layers, analogous to those in the p-n junction. This remark is amplified by a fuller investigation of two related parity violating effective Lagrangians, which possess a kind of duality. It is shown that gauge invariance and energy conservation are sufficient to determine the behaviour at the interface. This leads to modifications of normal parity-violating electrodynamics. The coupling of an interface to an external system is a natural solution to the …
We explore a model of gravity that arises from the consideration of the Chern-Simons form in 2+1 dimensions for a spin connection with a contorsion described by a scalar and a vector field. The effective Lagrangian presents a local Weyl symmetry allowing us to gauge the scalar field to a constant value. From a gauge field theory perspective, it is shown that the vector part of the torsion (related to its trace) is a gauge field for the Weyl group, which allows the interpretation of the torsion as an electromagnetic field. In the gauge of constant scalar field we obtain Chiral Gravity coupled t…
We resume a long-standing, yet not forgotten, debate on whether a Chern-Simons birefringence can be generated by a local term $b_μ\barψγ^μγ_5ψ$ in the Lagrangian (where $b_μ$ are constants). In the present paper we implement a new way of managing $γ_5$ in dimensional regularization. Gauge invariance in the underlying theory (QED) is enforced by this choice of defining divergent amplitudes. We investigate the singular behavior of the vector meson two-point-function around the $m^2=0$ and $p^2=0$ point. We find that the coefficient of the effective Chern-Simons can be finite or zero. It depends …
We study the structure and properties of vortices in a recently proposed Abelian Maxwell-Chern-Simons model in $2 +1 $ dimensions. The model which is described by gauge field interacting with a complex scalar field, includes two parity and time violating terms: the Chern-Simons and the anomalous magnetic terms. Self-dual relativistic vortices are discussed in detail. We also find one dimensional soliton solutions of the domain wall type. The vortices are correctly described by the domain wall solutions in the large flux limit.
We have performed a complete study of BPS vortex solutions in the Abelian sector of the standard model extension (SME). Specifically, we have coupled the SME electromagnetism with a Higgs field which is supplemented with a Lorentz-violating CPT-even term. We have verified that Lorentz violation (LV) belonging to the Higgs sector allows to interpolate between some well known models like, Maxwell-Higgs, Chern-Simons-Higgs and Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs. We can also observed that the electrical charged density distribution is nonnull in both CPT-even and CPT-odd models; however, the total electri…
A transgression form is proposed as lagrangian for a gauge field theory. The construction is first carried out for an arbitrary Lie Algebra g and then specialized to some particular cases. We exhibit the action, discuss its symmetries, write down the equations of motion and the boundary conditions that follow from it, and finally compute conserved charges. We also present a method, based on the iterative use of the Extended Cartan Homotopy Formula, which allows one to (i) systematically split the lagrangian in order to appropriately reflect the subspaces structure of the gauge algebra, and (ii…
Recently, the {\it spacelike} part of the $SU(2)$ Yang--Mills equations has been identified with geometrical objects of a three--dimensional space of constant Riemann--Cartan curvature. We give a concise derivation of this Ashtekar type (``inverse Kaluza--Klein") {\it mapping} by employing a $(3+1)$--decomposition of {\it Clifford algebra}--valued torsion and curvature two--forms. In the subcase of a mapping to purely axial 3D torsion, the corresponding Lagrangian consists of the translational and Lorentz {\it Chern--Simons term} plus cosmological term and is therefore of purely topological or…
In the standard electroweak theory that describes nature, the Chern-Simons number associated with the vacua as well as the unstable sphaleron solutions play a crucial role in the baryon number violating processes. We recall why the Chern-Simons number should be generalized from a set of discrete values to a dynamical (quantum) variable. Via the construction of an appropriate Hopf invariant and the winding number, we discuss how the geometric information in the gauge fields is also captured in the Higgs field. We then discuss the choice of the Hopf variable in relation to the Chern-Simons varia…
We demonstrate the generation of the three-dimensional Chern-Simons-like Lorentz-breaking ``mixed" quadratic action via an appropriate Lorentz-breaking coupling of vector and scalar fields to the spinor field and study some features of the scalar QED with such a term. We show that the same term emerges through a nonpertubative method, namely the Julia-Toulouse approach of condensation of charges and defects.
We consider a 5-dimensional action which is composed of a gravitational sector and a sector of matter, where the gravitational sector is given by a Einstein-Chern-Simons gravity action instead of the Einstein-Hilbert action. We obtain the Einstein-Chern-Simons (EChS) field equations together with its spherically sym- metric solution, which leads, in certain limit, to the standard five dimensional solution of the Einstein-Cartan field equations. It is found the conditions under which the EChS field equations admits black hole type solutions. The maximal extension and conformal compactification …
In this paper, we extend the analysis of the Lorentz-violating Quantum Eletrodynamics to the non-Abelian case: an SO(3) Yang-Mills Lagrangian with the addition of the non-Abelian Chern-Simons-type term. We consider the spontaneous symmetry breaking of the model and inspect its spectrum in order to check if unitarity and causality are respected. An analysis of the topological structure is also carried out and we show that a 't Hooft-Polyakov solution for monopoles is still present.
