The scattering of a baryon consisting of three massive quarks is investigated in the high energy limit of perturbative QCD. A model of a relativistic proton-like wave function, dependent on valence quark longitudinal and transverse momenta and on quark helicities, is proposed, and we derive the baryon impact factors for two, three and four t-channel gluons. We find that the baryonic impact factor can be written as a sum of three pieces: in the first one a subsystem consisting of two of the three quarks behaves very much like the quark-antiquark pair in gamma* scattering, whereas the third quark acts as a spectator. The second term belongs to the odderon, whereas in the third (C-even) piece all three quarks participate in the scattering. This term is new and has no analogue in gamma* scattering. We also study the small x evolution of gluon radiation for each of these three terms. The first term follows the same pattern of gluon radiation as the gamma*-initiated quark-antiquark dipole, and, in particular, it contains the BFKL evolution followed by the 2-->4 transition vertex (triple Pomeron vertex). The odderon-term is described by the standard BKP evolution, and the baryon couples to both known odderon solutions, the Janik-Wosiek solution and the BLV solution. Finally, the t-channel evolution of the third term starts with a three reggeized gluon state which then, via a new 3-->4 transition vertex, couples to the four gluon (two-Pomeron) state. We briefly discuss a few consequences of these findings, in particular the pattern of unitarization of high energy baryon scattering amplitudes.
A new geometrical scaling method with gluon saturation rapidity limit is proposed to study the gluon saturation feature of the central rapidity region of relativistic nuclear collisions. The net-baryon number is essentially transported by valence quarks that probe the saturation regime in the target by multiple scattering. We take advantage of the gluon saturation model with geometric scaling of the rapidity limit to investigate the net baryon distributions, nuclear stopping power and gluon saturation features in the SPS and RHIC energy regions. Predictions for net-baryon rapidity distribution…
The process of baryon production in K p collisions at high energies is considered in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String Model. The contribution of the string-junction mechanism to the strange baryon production is analysed. The results of numerical calculations are in reasonable agreement with the data on inclusive spectra of p, Lambda, bar{Lambda}, and on the bar{Lambda}/Lambda asymmetry. The predictions for Xi and Omega baryons are presented.
We study the narrow decay width of low-lying penta-quark baryons in the QCD string theoryin terms of gluonic excitations. In the QCD string theory, the penta-quark baryon decays via a gluonic-excited state of a baryon and meson system, where a pair of Y-shaped junction and anti-junction is created. Since lattice QCD shows that the lowest gluonic-excitation energy takes a large value of about 1 GeV, the decay of the penta-quark baryon near the threshold is considered as a quantum tunneling process via a highly-excited state (a gluonic-excited state) in the QCD string theory. This mechanism stro…
We derive here the equation of state for quark matter with a nontrivial vacuum structure in QCD at finite temperature and baryon density. Using thermofield dynamics, the parameters of thermal vacuum and the gluon condensate function are determined through minimisation of the thermodynamic potential, along with a self-consistent determination of the effective gluon and quark masses. The scale parameter for the gluon condensates is related to the SVZ parameter in the context of QCD sum rules at zero temperature. With inclusion of quarks in the thermal vacuum the critical temperature at which the…
The chemical equilibration of a highly unsaturated quark-gluon plasma has been studied at finite baryon density. It is found that in the presence of small amount of baryon density, the chemical equilibration for gluon becomes slower and the temperature decreases less steeply as compared to the baryon free plasma. As a result, the space time integrated yield of dilepton is enhanced if the initial temperature of the plasma is held fixed. Even at a fixed initial energy density, the suppression of the dilepton yields at higher baryo-chemical potential is compensated, to a large extent, by the slow…
We treat the hadrons as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states where contributions from sea-quarks and gluons can be studied in detail for the properties of low lying baryons. Statistical model is applied to calculate individual probabilities from various scalar, vector and tensor sea components in flavor, spin and color subspaces for each quark-gluon Fock state. The mass of strange quark is imposed in terms of constraints to the availability of strange quarks in the sea and free energy of gluons in conformity with experimental indications. We calculate multiplicities for different sets of Foc…
We study the spectrum of light flavor baryons in a quark-model framework by taking into account the order $\mathrm{O}(α_s^2)$ hyperfine interactions due to two-gluon exchange between quarks. The calculated spectrum agree better with the experimental data than the results from hyperfine interactions with only one-gluon exchange. It is also shown that two-gluon exchange hyperfine interactions bring a significantly improved correction to the Gell-Mann--Okubo mass formula. Two-gluon exchange corrections on baryon excitations (including negative parity baryons) are also briefly discussed.
We consider a black hole solution with a non-trivial dilaton from IIB super gravity which is expected to describe a strongly coupled hot gauge plasma with non-vanishing gluon condensation present. We construct a rotating and moving baryon to probe the screening and phases of the plasma. Melting of the baryons in hot plasma in this background had been studied previously, however, we show that baryons melt much lower temperature than has been suggested previously.
Using the QCD string theory, we investigate the physical reason of the narrow width of penta-quark baryons in terms of the large gluonic-excitation energy. In the QCD string theory, the penta-quark baryon decays via a gluonic-excited state of a baryon and meson system, where a pair of Y-shaped junction and anti-junction is created. On the other hand, we find in lattice QCD that the lowest gluonic-excitation energy takes a large value of about 1 GeV. Therefore, in the QCD string theory, the decay of the penta-quark baryon near the threshold is considered as a quantum tunneling process via a hig…
The (3+1) dimensional expansion of the quark gluon plasma (QGP) produced at finite baryon density has been studied using relativistic hydrodynamical approach. The pressure functional of the equation of state (EoS) has been determined for the interacting nuclear matter with mesons exchange. The EoS has been used to solve hydrodynamical equations using RHLLE algorithm. The space time expansion of the plasma has been studied for the cases of SPS energy and RHIC energy both at finite baryon density and for a hypothetical case of SPS energy at zero baryon density. The space-time evolution is slowed…
In this talk we report on recent calculation of high energy baryon scattering amplitudes in QCD. Elastic baryon impact factors for two, three and four gluons are presented and their energy evolution is described that incorporates unitarity corrections. We find that the baryon couples directly to the BFKL Pomeron, to the BKP odderon and to a new state, a three-gluon BKP Pomeron. The new state may decay into four gluons with a new 3 -> 4 transition vertex. This vertex defines the transition amplitude of the three-gluon BKP Pomeron state into two BFKL Pomerons.
The properties of the quark-gluon plasma(QGP) in the presence of baryon chemical potential are studied using the Field Correlator Method(FCM). At low densities the QGP thermodynamics with the colormagnetic confinement and the Polyakov line interaction is in good agreement with lattice data, and the speed of sound satisfies $C_s^2\leq \frac13$,but in the intermediate range of densities the speed of sound displays a singular behaviour and one needs density modifications of the Polyakov line interaction to avoid instabilities. In particular for $μ_q >0.5$ GeV there exists a region in the $(μ, T)$ …
The Taylor coefficients of flavor diagonal and off-diagonal susceptibilities as well as baryon number, isovector and electric charge susceptibilities are considered within a phenomenological quasiparticle model of the quark-gluon plasma and successfully compared with lattice QCD data for two degenerate quark flavors. These susceptibility coefficients represent sensible probes of baryon density effects in the equation of state. The baryon charge is carried, in our model, by quark-quasiparticle excitations for hard momenta.
Enforcing color and electric charge neutrality conditions on the three-flavor color superconducting matter, I derive the explicit form of the quark propagators and the gluon self-energies for the gapless and the ordinary color-flavor-locked phases.
In this work, we calculate the binding energies of the $J/ψ$, the $Υ$, and the Toponium in quark-gluon plasma. We also calculate the temperature of the quark-gluon plasma at which these quarkonia dissociate. We approach the problem from a quantum mechanical point of view. We use the variational method and the screening Debye potential in order to obtain these binding energies.
We use quasiparticle description of deconfined matter in nuclear collisions at finite temperature and chemical potential. We assume that evolution of expanding system is isentropic. Using theoretical formulas and experimental meaning for the average multiplicity of charged and neutral particles and also of net nucleons ($N-\bar{N}$) per unit central rapidity, we calculate the initial temperature $T_0$, and the volume $V_0$ for the collisions of heavy nuclei ($Pb+Pb$ and $Au+Au$) at SPS and RHIC energies. At calculations we use the conservation of entropy and of number net nucleons in initial p…
We present a unified picture of mesons and baryons in the Dyson-Schwinger/Bethe-Salpeter approach, wherein the quark-gluon and quark-(anti)quark interaction follow from a systematic truncation of the QCD effective action and includes all its tensor structures. The masses of some of the ground state mesons and baryons are found to be in reasonable agreement with the expectations of a `quark-core calculation', suggesting a partial insensitivity to the details of the quark-gluon interaction. However, discrepancies remain in the meson sector, and for excited baryons, that suggest higher order corr…
The direct photon radiation from a hot and slightly strong interacting fireball system of a rich baryon quark-gluon plasma, using the Boltzmann distribution function for the incoming particles and Bose-Einstein distribution for gluon and Fermi-Dirac distribution for quark, antiquark and Boltzmann distribution for gluon are discussed subsequently. The first two distribution functions are chosen for the photon production of the first case and the last two functions are considered for the second case of my photon production. The thermal photon emission rate is found that it is infra-red divergent …
The amplitude for production of a single photon associated with quark pair in the fusion of two off-shell gluons is calculated. The matrix element found is applied to the inclusive prompt photon hadroproduction at high energies in the framework of kt-factorization QCD approach. The total and differential cross sections are calculated in both central and forward pseudo-rapidity regions. The conservative error analisys is performed. We used the unintegrated gluon distributions in a proton which were obtained from the full CCFM evolution equation as well as from the Kimber-Martin-Ryskin prescript…
With a view to exploring a new kind of phase transition in the process of hadronization of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) we investigate the occurrence of pentaquark baryons and tetraquark mesons in the system. For this purpose, the frame work of an analoguous Saha's ionization formula for the colored ions in the system is used. The study of color-ionic-fraction (CIF) of multiply (color) ionized to unionized quark clusters (termed as "quarkons") as a function of temperature is carried out. It is pointed out that not only the temperature of the fire-ball in the relativistic heavy ion collisions evolv…
QCD as a gauge non-Abelian theory imposes severe constraints on the structure of the baryon wave function. We point out that, contrary to a widely accepted belief, the traces of baryon number in a high-energy process can reside in a non-perturbative configuration of gluon fields, rather than in the valence quarks. We argue that this conjecture can be tested experimentally, since it can lead to substantial baryon asymmetry in the central rapidity region of ultra-relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions.
The hadron inclusive spectra in pp collisions at high energies are analyzed within a soft QCD model, namely the quark-gluon string model. In addition to the sea quark distribution in the incoming proton we consider also the unintegrated gluon distribution that has an increasing behaviour when the gluon transverse momentum grows. It leads to an increase of the inclusive spectra of hadrons and their multiplicity in the central rapidity region of pp collision at LHC energies.
A suitable wave function for baryon decuplet is framed with inclusion of sea containing quark- gluon Fock states. Relevant operator formalism is applied to calculate magnetic moments of JP = 3 2 + baryon decuplet. Statistical model assumes decomposition of baryonic state in various quark-gluon Fock states such as jqqqijgi; jqqqijggi; jqqqijgggi with possibility gluon emitting qq pairs condensates due to the subprocesses like g , qq; g , gg and g , qg where qq = uu; dd; ss. Statistical approach and detailed balance principle in combination is used to find the relative probabilities of these Foc…
We show that $ω_B$ or $ω_{\bar B}$, the squared baryon or antibaryon number fluctuation per baryon or antibaryon, is a possible signature for the quark-gluon plasma that is expected to be created in relativistic heavy ion collisions, as it is a factor of three smaller than in an equilibrated hadronic matter due to the fractional baryon number of quarks. Using kinetic equations with exact baryon number conservation, we find that their values in an equilibrated matter are half of those expected from a Poisson distribution. Effects due to finite acceptance and non-zero net baryon number are also …
The effect of baryon density on parton production processes of $gg\rightleftharpoons ggg$ and $gg\rightleftharpoons q{\bar q}$ is studied using full phase space distribution function and also with inclusion of quantum statistics i.e. Pauli blocking and Bose enhancement factors, in the case of both saturated and unsaturated quark gluon plasma. The rate for the process $gg \rightleftharpoons q{\bar q}$ is found to be much less as compared to the most commonly used factorized result obtained on the basis of classical approximation. This discrepancy, which is found both at zero as well as at finit…
We show that analysis of nonrelativistic neutron-proton scattering in a framework of relativistic QCD based quark model can give important information about QCD vacuum structure. In this model we describe total cross section of neutron-proton scattering at kinetic energies of projectile neutron from 1 eV up to 1 MeV.
The pseudorapidity distribution of centers of dense isolated groups of particles in HIJING model is determined. It can be considered as the background for Cherenkov gluons. If peaks over this background were found in experiment, they would indicate the onset of new collective effects.
We investigate the effects of a baryon-antibaryon asymmetry on the spectrum of dileptons radiating from a quark gluon plasma. We demonstrate the existence of a new set of processes in this regime. The dilepton production rate from the corresponding diagrams is shown to be as important as that obtained from the usual quark-antiquark annihilation.
We discuss contributions of chiral bosons to baryon spectra in the MIT bag model. It is believed that within hadrons, chiral bosons are degrees of freedom which are independent of gluons to provide strong interactions between quarks. In the original MIT bag model, only interaction mediated by gluon exchanges was considered, by contrast, in this work we take into account the interaction mediated by the exchanges of chiral bosons $σ$ and $π^{(\pm,0)}$. Then following the standard approach, we minimize the effective hamiltonian which includes both the contributions from gluon and chiral-boson exc…
We study the generation of baryon inhomogeneities in regions of the quark gluon plasma which have a charge imbalance. We find that the overdensity in the baryon lumps for positively charged particles is different from the overdensity due to the negatively charged particles. Since quarks are charged particles, the probability of forming neutrons or protons in the lumps would thus be changed. The probability of forming hadrons having quarks of the same charges would be enhanced. This might have interesting consequences for the inhomogeneous nucleosynthesis calculations.
The inclusive distributions of gluons and pions for high-energy NN collisions are calculated. The results for several unintegrated gluon distributions (UGD's) from the literature are compared. We find huge differences in both rapidity and $p_t$ of gluons and $π$'s in NN collisions for different models of UGD's. The Karzeev-Levin UGD gives good description of momentum distribution of charged hadrons at midrapidities. We find that the gluonic mechanism discussed does not describe the inclusive spectra of charged particles in the fragmentation region.
We propose that femto scale QCD analogs of Fullerene type excitations may exist with ``magic numbers'' 8,24,48, and 120. These ``J-balls'' are the most symmetrical closed networks of gluonic baryon junctions and anti-junctions with zero net baryon number. CP odd J-Moebii and other femto-tubes and tori gluonic structures may also exist. We estimate the relative binding energies and discuss possible experimental signatures of the formation of these new topological gluonic states.
We consider the phenomenological implications of the assumption that baryons are systems of three quarks connected through gluon string junction. The transfer of baryon number in rapidity space due to the string junction propagation is considered in detail. At high energies this process leads to a significant effect on the net baryon production in hN collisions at mid-rapidities. The numerical results for midrapidity inclusive densities of different secondaries in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String Model are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data. One universal value lambda ~ …
It is argued that in heavy ion collisions at LHC there could be a sizeable production of baryons containing two or three heavy quarks from statistical coalescence. This production mechanism is peculiar of Quark Gluon Plasma and the predicted rates, in heavy ion collisions at LHC energy, exceed those from a purely hadronic scenario, particularly for Xi_bc and Omega_ccc. Thus, besides the interest in the discovery of these new states, enhanced ratios of these baryons over singly heavy flavoured hadrons, like B or D, in heavy ion collisions with respect to pp at the same energy, would be a clear …
A fireball of QGP is evoluted at temperature dependent chemical potential by a statistical model in the pionic medium. We study the dilepton emission rate at temperature dependent chemical potential (TDCP) from such a fireball of QGP. In this model, we take the dynamical quark mass as a finite value dependence on temparature and parametrization factor of the QGP evolution. The temperature and factor in quark mass enhance in the growth of the droplets as well as in the dilepton emission rates. The emission rate from the plasma shows dilepton spectrum in the intermediate mass region (IMR) of (1.…
We analyze the ground state of the heavy-quark hybrid system composed of three quarks and a gluon. The known string tension K and approximately-known gluon mass M lead to a precise specification of the long-range non-relativistic part of the potential binding the gluon to the quarks with no undetermined phenomenological parameters, in the limit of large interquark separation R. Our major tool (also used earlier by Simonov) is the use of proper-time methods to describe gluon propagation within the quark system, which reveals the gluon Wilson line as a composite of co-located quark and antiquark…
Properties of the quark-gluon plasma(QGP) in the presence of the baryon chemical potential $μ_B$ are studied using the Field Correlator Method(FCM). The nonperturbative FCM dynamics includes the Polyakov line, computed via colorelectric string tension $σ^E(T)$ and the quark and gluon Debye masses, defined by the colormagnetic string tension $σ^H(T)$. The resulting QGP thermodynamics at $μ_B \le 400$ MeV is in a good agreement with the available lattice data, both pressure and the sound velocity do not show any sign of a critical behavior in this region.
We study the transverse and longitudinal gluon propagators in the Landau-gauge lattice QCD with gauge group $SU(2)$ at nonzero quark chemical potential and zero temperature. We show that both propagators demonstrate substantial dependence on the quark chemical potential. This observation contradicts to earlier findings by other groups.
A direct connection can be made between mixing angles in negative parity baryons and the spin coupling of constituent quarks. The mixing angles do not depend on spectral data. These angles are recalculated for gluon exchange and pion exchange between quarks. For pion exchange the results of Glozman and Riska are corrected. The experimental data on mixing are very similar to those derived from gluon exchange but substantially different from the values obtained for pion exchange.
We study the properties and couplings of hybrid baryons in the large-$N_c$ expansion. These are color-neutral baryon states which contain in addition to $N_c$ quarks also one constituent gluon. Hybrid baryons with both symmetric and mixed symmetric orbital wave functions are considered. We introduce a Hartree description for these states, similar to the one used by Witten for ordinary baryons. It is shown that the Hartree equations for $N_c (N_c-1)$ quarks for symmetric (mixed symmetric) states in these states coincide with those in ordinary baryons in the large-$N_c$ limit. The energy due to …
Hadronic production of the doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}$ ($Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ and $Ξ^{+}_{cc}$) is investigated under the general-mass variable-flavor-number (GM-VFN) scheme. The gluon-gluon fusion mechanism and the intrinsic charm mechanisms, i.e. via the sub-processes $g+g\to(cc)[^3S_1]_{\bar 3}+\bar{c}+\bar{c}$, $g+g\to(cc)[^1S_0]_6+\bar{c}+\bar{c}$; $g+c\to (cc)[^3S_1]_{\bar 3}+\bar{c}$, $g+c\to (cc)[^1S_0]_6+\bar{c}$ and $c+c\to (cc)[^3S_1]_{\bar 3}+g$, $c+c\to (cc)[^1S_0]_6+g$, are taken into account in the investigation, where $(cc)[^3S_1]_{\bar 3}$ (in color {\bf $\bar 3$}) and $(cc)[^1S_0]…
The inclusive distributions of gluons and pions are calculated with absolute normalization for high-energy nucleon-nucleon collisions. The results for several unintegrated gluon distributions from the literature are compared. The gluon distribution proposed recently by Kharzeev and Levin based on the idea of gluon saturation is tested against DIS data from HERA. We find huge differences in both rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of gluons and pions in nucleon-nucleon collisions for different models of unintegrated gluon distributions. The approximations used recently in the literat…
We explore the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of the Quark-Gluon Plasma at zero and finite net-baryon density based on an effective kinetic theory of Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD). By investigating the isotropization of the longitudinal pressure, we determine the relevant time and temperature scales for the onset of viscous hydrodynamics, and quantify the dependence on the chemical composition of the QGP. By extrapolating our results to realistic coupling strength, we discuss phenomenological consequences regarding the role of the pre-equilibrium phase at different collision energies.
The masses of baryons containing two heavy quarks and their couplings to the corresponding quark currents are evaluated in the framework of NRQCD sum rules. The coulomb-like corrections in the system of doubly heavy diquark are taken into account, and the contribution of nonperturbative terms coming from the quark, gluon and mixed condensates as well as the product of quark and gluon condensates, is analyzed. The higher condensates destroy the factorization of baryon and diquark correlators and provide the convergency of sum rule method. As a result the accuracy of estimates is improved.
We extend the methods of Yennie, Frautschi and Suura (YFS) to compute, via Monte Carlo methods, the effects of multiple gluon emission in the processes $q+q'\to q''+q'''+n(G)$, where $G$ is a soft gluon. We show explicitly that the infrared singularities in the respective simulations are canceled to all orders in $α_s$. Some discussion of this result from the standpoint of confinement is given. More importantly, we present, for the first time ever, sample numerical Monte Carlo data on multiple soft gluon emission in the rigorously extended YFS framework. We find that such soft gluon effects mu…
Hadrons interaction at high energies is carried out by one color gluon exchange. All quarks and gluons contained in colliding hadrons take part in interaction and production of particles. The contribution of multiple parton interactions is negligible. Multiple hadrons production at high energies occurs only in three types of processes. The first process is hadrons production in gluon string, the second is hadrons production in two quark strings and the third is hadrons production in three quark strings. In proton-proton interaction production of only gluon string and two quark strings is possi…
We have investigated the charmonium survival probability, in a high baryon density parton plasma, expected to be produced in nuclear collisions at FAIR. Charmonia are assumed to undergo complete dissociation by color screening, if the in-medium Debye radius becomes comparable to the spatial size of the corresponding bound state. Results indicate a non-trivial dependence of the suppression pattern on the plasma evolution dynamics. A much larger magnitude of suppression is foreseen induced by cold nuclear matter compared to that due to plasma screening.
The quark-gluon plasma behaves as a relativistic viscous fluid in high-energy heavy ion collisions. I develop a causal dissipative hydrodynamic model at finite baryon density for RHIC and LHC to estimate the net baryon rapidity distribution. The net baryon number is found to be carried to forward rapidity by the flow, effectively enhancing the transparency of the collisions. This suggests that the energy available for the production of a hot medium could be larger than that naively implied from experimental data. Also the distribution can be sensitive to baryon dissipation as much as to shear …
We study the enhanced production of $Λ_c$ charmed baryons relative to that of charmed $D^0$ mesons in proton-proton collisions at LHC energies. We simulated collision events with the enhanced color-reconnection model in PYTHIA 8 MC generator and propose measurements based on the comparative use of different event-activity classifiers to identify the source of the charmed-baryon enhancement. We demonstrate that in this enhanced color-reconnection scenario the excess production is primarily linked to the underlying event and not to the production of high-momentum jets.
According to the helicity conservation (HCns) theorem, the sum of the helicities should be conserved, in any 2-to-2 processes in MSSM with R-parity conservation, at high energies; i.e. all amplitudes violating this rule, must vanish asymptotically. The realization of HCns in gluon-fusion to charginos or neutralinos is studied, at the one loop electroweak order (EW), and simple high energy expressions are derived for the non-vanishing helicity conserving (HC) amplitudes. These are very similar to the corresponding expressions for $gg \to W^+W^-, ZZ, γZ, γγ$ derived before. Asymptotic relations …
Employing scalar QCD we study the gluon emission of heavy quarks created by the interaction with light quarks considered as dynamical scattering centers. We develop approximation formulas for the high energy limit and study when the full calculation reaches this high energy limit. For zero quark masses and in the high energy limit our model reproduces the Gunion-Bertsch results. We justify why scalar QCD represents a good approximation to the full QCD approach for the energy loss of heavy quarks. In the regime of accessible phenomenology we observe that the emission at small transverse momentu…
We calculate the cross sections of the baryon and lepton number violating processes. The proper valley method enables us to calculate the multi-boson processes, which have the possibility to observation. The mass corrections of the gauge boson, Higgs particle and top quark are evaluated and the group integration and the phase space integration are performed analytically and numerically.
We report on the excitation function of anti-baryon to baryon ratios ($\overline{p}/p$, {\alam /\lam} and {\axi / \xim}) in $pp$ collisions at {\sqrts} = 0.9, 2.76, 7 TeV from DPMJET-III, Pythia~8, EPOS~1.99, and EPOS-LHC model simulations. To study the predictions of these models at {\sqrts} = 13.6 TeV. The anti-baryon to baryon ratios are extremely important for the study of baryon number transport mechanisms. These ratios help determine the carriers of the baryon number and in the extraction of baryon structure information. Even though all models show a good agreement between model simulati…
We apply our Yennie-Frautschi-Suura exponentiated cross section formulas for the parton processes $q + {^(} \bar q {^)}{^\prime} \ra q{^\prime}{^\prime} + {^(} \bar q {^)}{^\prime}{^\prime}{^\prime} + n(G)$ to the process $q + \bar q \ra t + \bar t + n(G)$ at FNAL energies, where G is a QCD gluon. We use semi-analytical methods to compute the ratio $r_{exp}=σ_{exp}/σ_B$, where $σ_{exp}$ is our soft gluon YFS exponentiated cross section and $σ_B$ is the Born cross section. For $m_t= 0.176(0.199)$TeV, we get $r_{exp}=1.65(1.48)$, respectively, for $q=u$ for example. These results are not inconsi…
Using the recently published model for the collisional energy loss of heavy quarks (Q) in a Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), based on perturbative QCD (pQCD) with a running coupling constant, we study the interaction between heavy quarks and plasma particles in detail. We discuss correlations between the simultaneously produced $c$ and $\bar{c}$ quarks, study how central collisions can be experimentally selected, predict observable correlations and extend our model to the energy domain of the large hadron collider (LHC). We finally compare the predictions of our model with that of other approaches li…
The task of mapping and explaining the spectrum of baryons and the structure of these states in terms of quarks and gluons is a longstanding challenge in hadron physics, which is likely to persist for another decade or more. We review the progress made in this topic using a functional method based on Dyson-Schwinger equations. This framework provides a non-perturbative, Poincaré-covariant continuum formulation of Quantum Chromodynamics which is able to extract novel insight on baryon properties since the physics at the hadron level is directly related with the underlying quark-gluon substructu…
