In this paper we define the notion of non-thin at $\infty$ as follows: Let $E$ be a subset of $\Bbb C^m$. For any $R>0$ define $E_R=E\cap \{z\in \Bbb C ^m :|z|\leq R\}$. We say that $E$ is non-thin at $\infty$ if
\lim_{R\to\infty}V_{E_R}(z)=0
for all $z\in \Bbb C^m$, where $V_E$ is the pluricomplex Green function of $E$.
This definition of non-thin at $\infty$ has good properties: If $E\subset \Bbb C^m$ is non-thin at $\infty$ and $A$ is pluripolar then $E\backslash A$ is non-thin at $\infty$, if $E\subset \Bbb C^m$ and $F\subset \Bbb C^n$ are closed sets non-thin at $\infty$ then $E\times F\subset \Bbb C^m\times \Bbb C^n$ is non-thin at $\infty$ (see Lemma \ref{Lem1}).
Then we explore the properties of non-thin at $\infty$ sets and apply this to extend the results in \cite{mul-yav} and \cite{trong-tuyen}.
Let $F\subset\Bbb C^n$ be a proper closed subset of $\Bbb C^n$ and $A\subset\Bbb C^n\setminus F$ at most countable ($n\geq 2$). We give conditions of $F$ and $A$, under which there exists a holomorphic immersion (or a proper holomorphic embedding) $ϕ:\Bbb C\to\Bbb C^n$ with $A\subsetϕ(\Bbb C)\subset\Bbb C^n\setminus F$.
Abstract. In this work we use an elementary method to derive an upper bound on the right half-plane for genus 0 entire functions if it has only negative zeros. The bound only uses information of the function on the positive real axis. Applications to the modified Bessel functions and the Airy function are also provided.
In this paper we shall consider the assymptotic growth of $|P_n(z)|^{1/k_n}$ where $P_n(z)$ is a sequence of entire functions of genus zero. Our results extend a result of J. Muller and A. Yavrian. We shall prove that if the sequence of entire functions has a geometric growth at each point in a set $E$ being non-thin at $\infty$ then it has a geometric growth in $\CC$ also. Moreover, if $E$ has some more properties, a similar result also holds for a more general kind of growth. Even in the case where $P_n$ are polynomials, our results are new in the sense that it does not require $k_n\succeq d…
We study a family of transcendental entire functions of genus zero, for which all of the zeros lie within a closed sector strictly smaller than a half-plane. In general these functions lie outside the Eremenko-Lyubich class. We show that for functions in this family the fast escaping set has Hausdorff dimension equal to two.
A Gauss-Lucas theorem is proved for multivariate entire functions, using a natural notion of separate convexity to obtain sharp results. Previous work in this area is mostly restricted to univariate entire functions (of genus no greater than one unless "realness" assumptions are made.) The present work applies to multivariate entire functions whose one dimensional sections can be written as a monomial times a canonical product of arbitrary genus. Essential use is made of the Levy-Steinitz theorem for conditionally convergent real number series.
Suppose that $h$ and $g$ belong to the algebra $\B$ generated by the rational functions and an entire function $f$ of finite order on ${\Bbb C}^n$ and that $h/g$ has algebraic polar variety. We show that either $h/g\in\B$ or $f=q_1e^p+q_2$, where $p$ is a polynomial and $q_1,q_2$ are rational functions. In the latter case, $h/g$ belongs to the algebra generated by the rational functions, $e^p$ and $e^{-p}$.
Let $T$ be a positive closed current of bidimension (1,1) and unit mass on the complex projective space ${\Bbb P}^n$. We prove that the set $V_α(T)$ of points where $T$ has Lelong number larger than $α$ is contained in a complex line if $α\geq2/3$, and $|V_α(T)\setminus L|\leq1$ for some complex line $L$ if $1/2\leqα<2/3$. We also prove that in dimension 2 and if $2/5\leqα<1/2$, then $|V_α(T)\setminus C|\leq1$ for some conic $C$.
For entire functions $f(z)=\sum_{n=0}^{+\infty}a_nz^n, z\in {\Bbb C},$ P. L${\rm \acute{e}}$vy (1929) established that in the classical Wiman's inequality $M_f(r)\leqμ_f(r)\times $ $\times(\lnμ_f(r))^{1/2+\varepsilon},\ \varepsilon>0,$ which holds outside a set of finite logarithmic measure, the constant 1/2 can be replaced almost surely in some sense, by 1/4; here $M_f(r)=\max\{|f(z)|\colon |z|=r\},\ μ_f(r)=\max\{|a_n|r^n\colon n\geq0\},\ r>0. $ In this paper we prove that the phenomenon discovered by P. L${\rm\acute{e}}$vy holds also in the case of Wiman's inequality for entire functions of …
In this paper we obtain estimates for certain transcendence measures of an entire function $f$. Using these estimates, we prove Bernstein, doubling and Markov inequalities for a polynomial $P(z,w)$ in ${\Bbb C}^2$ along the graph of $f$. These inequalities provide, in turn, estimates for the number of zeros of the function $P(z,f(z))$ in the disk of radius $r$, in terms of the degree of $P$ and of $r$. Our estimates hold for arbitrary entire functions $f$ of finite order, and for a subsequence $\{n_j\}$ of degrees of polynomials. But for special classes of functions, including the Riemann $ζ$-…
We expand the classical balayage of measures and subharmonic functions on a system of rays $S$ with a common origin on the complex plane $\mathbb C$. This allows for an arbitrary subharmonic function $v$ of finite order on $\mathbb C$ build $δ$-subharmonic function on $\mathbb C$, harmonic outside $S$ coinciding with $v$ on $S$ outside the polar set, of the same order of growth as $v$. We give applications to the relationship of the growth of an entire function in $S$ with the distribution of its zeros.
In the second part of this work was developed a technique of balayage of finite genus $q=0,1,2,\dots$ for measures (charges) and ($δ$-) subharmonic functions of finite order to an arbitrary closed system of rays $S$ with vertex at origin on the complex plane $\mathbb C$. In this third part of our work, we use only the case $q=1$ when $S$ is a pair of oppositely directed rays, i.e., $S$ is a straight line as the point set, and balayage is made from both sides of this line. We consider measures and subharmonic functions of finite type of order $1$. This bilateral balayage of genus $1$ will be ap…
Previously, we developed the technique of balayage of measures or charges and ($δ$-)subharmonic functions of finite order onto an closed system of rays $S$ with a vertex at zero on the complex plane $\mathbb C$. In this article, we use only two kinds of balayage of measure and charge, as well as of subharmonic functions of finite type under the order $1$ and their differences. First, it is a classical balayage of the genus $q=0$ on a system of four closed rays: positive and negative, and real and imaginary semi-axis $\mathbb R^+$, $-\mathbb R^+$, $i\mathbb R^+$, $-i\mathbb R$. Second, it is tw…
In this paper we shall consider the growth at infinity of a sequence $(P_n)$ of entire functions of bounded orders. Our results extend the results in \cite{trong-tuyen2} for the growth of entire functions of genus zero. Given a sequence of entire functions of bounded orders $P_n(z)$, we found a nearly optimal condition, given in terms of zeros of $P_n$, for which $(k_n)$ that we have \begin{eqnarray*} \limsup_{n\to\infty}|P_n(z)|^{1/k_n}\leq 1 \end{eqnarray*} for all $z\in \mathbb C$ (see Theorem \ref{theo5}). Exploring the growth of a sequence of entire functions of bounded orders lead natura…
In 1979 I. Ciorănescu and L. Zsidó have proved a minimum modulus theorem for entire functions dominated by the restriction to the positive half axis of a canonical product of genus zero, having all roots on the positive imaginary axis and satisfying a certain condition. Here we prove that the above result is optimal: if a canonical product ω of genus zero, having all roots on the positive imaginary axis, does not satisfy the condition in the 1979 paper, then always there exists an entire function dominated by the restriction to the positive half axis of ω, which does not satisfy the desired mi…
For entire Dirichlet series of the form $F(z)=\sum\limits_{n=0}^{+\infty} a_{n}e^{zλ_n},\ 0\leλ_n\uparrow+\infty\ (n\to+\infty)$, we establish conditions under which the relation $$ F(x+iy)=(1+o(1))a_{ν(x,F)}e^{(x+iy)λ_{ν(x,F)}} $$ is true as $x\to+\infty$ outside some set $E$ such that $\text{ h-meas }(E)=\int_{E}dh(x)<+\infty$ uniformly in $y\in\Bbb{R}$, where $h(x)$ is positive continuous function increasing to $+\infty$ on $[0,+\infty)$ with non-decreasing to $+\infty$ derivative.
Let $f(z)=e^{-bz^2}f_1(z)$ where $b \geq 0$ and $f_1(z)$ is a real entire function of genus 0 or 1. We give a necessary and sufficient condition in terms of a sequence of inequalities for all of the zeros of $f(z)$ to be real. These inequalities are an extension of the classical Laguerre inequalities.
We solve the problem of Duffin and Schaeffer (1952) of characterizing those sequences of real frequencies which generate Fourier frames. Equivalently, we characterize the sampling sequences for the Paley-Wiener space. The key step is to connect the problem with de Branges' theory of Hilbert spaces of entire functions. We show that our description of sampling sequences permits us to obtain a classical inequality of H. Landau as a consequence of Pavlov's description of Riesz bases of complex exponentials and the John-Nirenberg theorem. Finally, we discuss how to transform our description into a …
We develop classical balayage (sweeping) measures and subharmonic functions on the ray system $S$ with a general origin on the complex plane $\mathbb C$. This allows for a subharmonic function $v$ on $\mathbb C$ to construct also a subharmonic function on $\mathbb C$ that is harmonic outside $S$ and coincides with $v$ on $S$. We give applications to the relationship between the growth of an entire function on $S$ and the distribution of its zeros, the conditions of complete regular growth of entire and subharmonic functions on the ray system, to the problems of incompleteness of exponential sy…
Let $ϕ(x)=\sum α_n x^n$ be a formal power series with real coefficients, and let $D$ denote differentiation. It is shown that "for every real polynomial $f$ there is a positive integer $m_0$ such that $ϕ(D)^mf$ has only real zeros whenever $m\geq m_0$" if and only if "$α_0=0$ or $2α_0α_2 - α_1^2 <0$", and that if $ϕ$ does not represent a Laguerre-Pólya function, then there is a Laguerre-Pólya function $f$ of genus $0$ such that for every positive integer $m$, $ϕ(D)^mf$ represents a real entire function having infnitely many nonreal zeros.
We analyze metrics for how close an entire function of genus one is to being real rooted. These metrics arise from truncated Hankel matrix positivity-type conditions built from power series coefficients at each real point. Specifically, if such a function satisfies our positivity conditions and has well-spaced zeros, we show that all of its zeros have to (in some explicitly quantified sense) be far away from the real axis. The obvious interesting example arises from the Riemann zeta function, where our positivity conditions yield a family of relaxations of the Riemann hypothesis. One might gue…
In this work we study the solutions of the equation $z^pR(z^k)=α$ with nonzero complex $α$, integer $p,k$ and $R(z)$ generating a (possibly doubly infinite) totally positive sequence. It is shown that the zeros of $z^pR(z^k)-α$ are simple (or at most double in the case of real $α^k$) and split evenly among the sectors $\{\frac jk π\le\operatorname{Arg} z\le\frac {j+1}k π\}$, $j=0,\dots, 2k-1$. Our approach rests on the fact that $z(\ln z^{p/k}R(z) )'$ is an $\mathcal R$-function (i.e. maps the upper half of the complex plane into itself). This result guarantees the same localization to zeros o…
