The Berry phase in a composite system with only one subsystem being driven has been studied in this Letter. We choose two spin-$\frac 1 2 $ systems with spin-spin couplings as the composite system, one of the subsystems is driven by a time-dependent magnetic field. We show how the Berry phases depend on the coupling between the two subsystems, and what is the relation between these Berry phases of the whole system and those of the subsystems.
It is pointed out that the solutions of the Klein-Gordon and the Dirac equation derived in the paper addressed in this Comment (and many more solutions) may be obtained from generating functions.
In this reply, we show that the adiabatic theorem would break down in the weak coupling limit, and the definition for the subsystem geometric phase is well defined.

The effect of inter-subsystem couplings on the Berry phase of a composite system as well as that of its subsystem is investigated in this paper. We analyze two coupled spin-$\frac 1 2 $ particles with one driven by a quantized field as an example, the pure state geometric phase of the composite system as well as the mixed state geometric phase for the subsystem is calculated and discussed.

In a recent paper (arXiv:1701.04298 [quant-ph]) Toroš, Großardt and Bassi claim that the potential necessary to support a composite particle in a gravitational field must necessarily cancel the relativistic coupling between internal and external degrees of freedom. As such a coupling is responsible for the gravitational redshift measured in numerous experiments, the above statement is clearly incorrect. We identify the simple mistake in the paper responsible for the incorrect claim.
