In this paper we construct quantum theta functions over noncommutative T^d with general embeddings. Manin has constructed quantum theta functions from the lattice embedding into vector space x finite group. We extend Manin's construction of quantum thetas to the case of general embedding of vector space x lattice x torus. It turns out that only for the vector space part of the embedding there exists the holomorphic theta vector, while for the lattice part there does not. Furthermore, the so-called quantum translations from embedding into the lattice part become non-additive, while those from the vector space part are additive.
The eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of orbital angular momentum operator on noncommutative lattice for a circle poset by theta-quantization are constructed, and it is demonstrated that they are equivalent to those of the conventional quantum mechanics.
In this paper we investigate the theta vector and quantum theta function over noncommutative T^4 from the embedding of R x Z^2. Manin has constructed the quantum theta functions from the lattice embedding into vector space (x finite group). We extend Manin's construction of the quantum theta function to the embedding of vector space x lattice case. We find that the holomorphic theta vector exists only over the vector space part of the embedding, and over the lattice part we can only impose the condition for Schwartz function. The quantum theta function built on this partial theta vector satisf…
We compute the one-loop 1PI contributions to all the propagators of the noncommutative N=1, 2, 4 super Yang-Mills (SYM) U(1) theories defined by the means of the theta-exact Seiberg-Witten (SW) map in the Wess-Zumino gauge. Then we extract the UV divergent contributions and the noncommutative IR divergences. We show that all the quadratic noncommutative IR divergences add up to zero in each propagator.
Based on the technique of noncommutative geometry, it is shown that, by means of the concept of the theta quantization, there is an equivalence between the notion of the modular momentum of the Aharonov-Bohm effect and the notion of a noncommutative lattice over a circle poset.
It is pointed out that the space noncommutativity parameters $theta^{μν}$ in noncommutative gauge theory can be considered as a set of superselection parameters, in analogy with the theta-angle in ordinary gauge theories. As such, they do not need to enter explicitly into the action. A simple generic formula is then suggested to reproduce the Chern-Simons action in noncommutative gauge theory, which reduces to the standard action in the commutative limit but in general implies a cascade of lower-dimensional Chern-Simons terms. The presence of these terms in general alters the vacuum structure …
The equivalence of the noncommutative U(N) quantum field theories related by the theta-exact Seiberg-Witten maps is in this letter proven to all orders in the perturbation theory with respect to the coupling constant. We show that this duality holds for Super Yang-Mills theories with N=0,1,2,4 supersymmetry. A direct check of this equivalence relation is performed by computing the one-loop quantum corrections to the quadratic part of the effective action in the noncommutative U(1) gauge theory with N=0,1,2,4 supersymmetry.
In analogy with classical submanifold theory, we introduce morphisms of real metric calculi together with noncommutative embeddings. We show that basic concepts, such as the second fundamental form and the Weingarten map, translate into the noncommutative setting and, in particular, we prove a noncommutative analogue of Gauss equations for the curvature of a submanifold. Moreover, the mean curvature of an embedding is readily introduced, giving a natural definition of a noncommutative minimal embedding, and we illustrate the novel concepts by considering the noncommutative torus as a minimal s…
A deformation of the algebra of diffeomorphisms is constructed for canonically deformed spaces with constant deformation parameter theta. The algebraic relations remain the same, whereas the comultiplication rule (Leibniz rule) is different from the undeformed one. Based on this deformed algebra a covariant tensor calculus is constructed and all the concepts like metric, covariant derivatives, curvature and torsion can be defined on the deformed space as well. The construction of these geometric quantities is presented in detail. This leads to an action invariant under the deformed diffeomorph…
Spectral triples over noncommutative principal $\T^n$-bundles are studied, extending recent results about the noncommutative geometry of principal U(1)-bundles. We relate the noncommutative geometry of the total space of the bundle with the geometry of the base space. Moreover, strong connections are used to build new Dirac operators. We discuss as a particular case the commutative case, the noncommutative tori and theta deformed manifolds.
We conjecture an embedding operator which assigns, to any 2n+1 hermitian matrices, a 2n-dimensional hypersurface in flat (2n + 1)-dimensional Euclidean space. This corresponds to precisely defining a fuzzy D(2n)-brane corresponding to N D0-branes. Points on the emergent hypersurface correspond to zero eigenstates of the embedding operator, which have an interpretation as coherent states underlying the emergent noncommutative geometry. Using this correspondence, all physical properties of the emergent D(2n)-brane can be computed. We apply our conjecture to noncommutative flat and spherical spac…
We study spectral triples over noncommutative principal U(1)-bundles of arbitrary dimension and formulate a compatibility condition between the connection and the Dirac operator on the total space and on the base space of the bundle. Examples of low dimensional noncommutative tori are analyzed in more detail and all connections found that are compatible with an admissible Dirac operator. Conversely, a family of new Dirac operators on the noncommutative tori, which arise from the base-space Dirac operator and a suitable connection is exhibited. These examples are extended to the theta-deformed …
This paper studies geometric structures on noncommutative hypersurfaces within a module-theoretic approach to noncommutative Riemannian (spin) geometry. A construction to induce differential, Riemannian and spinorial structures from a noncommutative embedding space to a noncommutative hypersurface is developed and applied to obtain noncommutative hypersurface Dirac operators. The general construction is illustrated by studying the sequence $\mathbb{T}^{2}_θ \hookrightarrow \mathbb{S}^{3}_θ \hookrightarrow \mathbb{R}^{4}_θ$ of noncommutative hypersurface embeddings.
Generalizations of classical theta functions are proposed that include any even number of analytic parameters for which conditions of quasi-periodicity are fulfilled and that are representations of extended Heisenberg group. Differential equations for generalized theta functions and finite non-unitary representations of extended Heisenberg group are presented so as other properties and possible applications are pointed out such as a projective embedding of tori by means of generalized theta functions.
In this paper we compute the intersection number of two double ramification cycles (with different ramification profiles) and the top Chern class of the Hodge bundle on the moduli space of stable curves of any genus. These quadratic double ramification integrals are the main ingredient for the computation of the double ramification hierarchy associated to the infinite dimensional partial cohomological field theory given by $\exp(μ^2 Θ)$ where $μ$ is a parameter and $Θ$ is Hain's theta class, appearing in Hain's formula for the double ramification cycle on the moduli space of curves of compact …
Starting from the Verma module of U_q sl(2) we consider the evaluation module for affine U_q sl(2) and discuss its crystal limit (q=0). There exists an associated integrable statistical mechanics model on a square lattice defined in terms of vertex configurations. Its transfer matrix is the generating function for noncommutative complete symmetric polynomials in the generators of the affine plactic algebra, an extension of the finite plactic algebra first discussed by Lascoux and Schützenberger. The corresponding noncommutative elementary symmetric polynomials were recently shown to be generat…
When considered as submanifolds of Euclidean space, the Riemannian geometry of the round sphere and the Clifford torus may be formulated in terms of Poisson algebraic expressions involving the embedding coordinates, and a central object is the projection operator, projecting tangent vectors in the ambient space onto the tangent space of the submanifold. In this note, we point out that there exist noncommutative analogues of these projection operators, which implies a very natural definition of noncommutative tangent spaces as particular projective modules. These modules carry an induced connec…
We formulate general definitions of semi-classical gauge transformations for noncommutative gauge theories in general backgrounds of string theory, and give novel explicit constructions using techniques based on symplectic embeddings of almost Poisson structures. In the absence of fluxes the gauge symmetries close a Poisson gauge algebra and their action is governed by a $P_\infty$-algebra which we construct explicitly from the symplectic embedding. In curved backgrounds they close a field dependent gauge algebra governed by an $L_\infty$-algebra which is not a $P_\infty$-algebra. Our techniqu…
We study metric-compatible Poisson structures in the semi-classical limit of noncommutative emergent gravity. Space-time is realized as quantized symplectic submanifold embedded in R^D, whose effective metric depends on the embedding as well as on the Poisson structure. We study solutions of the equations of motion for the Poisson structure, focusing on a natural class of solutions such that the effective metric coincides with the embedding metric. This leads to i-(anti-) self-dual complexified Poisson structures in four space-time dimensions with Lorentzian signature. Solutions on manifolds w…
While there has been growing interest for noncommutative spaces in recent times, most examples have been based on the simplest noncommutative algebra: [x_i,x_j]=i theta_{ij}. Here we present new classes of (non-formal) deformed products associated to linear Lie algebras of the kind [x_i,x_j]=ic_{ij}^k x_k. For all possible three-dimensional cases, we define a new star product and discuss its properties. To complete the analysis of these novel noncommutative spaces, we introduce noncompact spectral triples, and the concept of star triple, a specialization of the spectral triple to deformations …
We investigate a version of noncommutative QED where the interaction term, although natural, breaks the spin-statistics connection. We calculate $e^- + e^- -> e^- + e^-$ and $γ+ e^- -> γ+ e^-$ cross-sections in the tree approximation and explicitly display their dependence on theta^{μν}. Remarkably the zero of the elastic $e^- + e^- -> e^- + e^-$ cross-section at 90-degrees in the center-of-mass system, which is due to Pauli principle, is shifted away as a function of theta^{μν} and energy.
