We search for the decay B0 -> rho0rho0 and other possible charmless modes with a pi+pi-pi+pi- final state, including B0 -> rho0f0(980), B0 -> f0(980)f0(980), B0 -> f0(980)pipi, B0 -> rho0pipi and non-resonant B0 -> 4pi. These results are obtained from a data sample containing 520 x 10^6 BBar pairs collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We measure a branching fraction of (0.9 +/- 0.4^{+0.3}_{-0.4}) x 10^{-6}, or B(B0 -> rho0rho0) < 1.6 x 10^{-6} at the 90% confidence level. The significance including systematic uncertainties is 1.8σ. These values correspond to the final state being longitudinally polarized. We also measure the branching fraction of non-resonant B0 -> 4pi decay to be (10.2 +/- 4.7^{+2.3}_{-1.5}) x 10^{-6} with 2.1σsignificance, and set the 90% confidence level upper limit B(B0 -> 4pi) < 17.3 x 10^{-6}. For the other related decays, B0 -> rho0f0(980), B0 -> f0(980)f0(980), B0 -> f0(980)pipi and B0 -> rho0pipi, no significant signals are observed and upper limits on the branching fractions are set.
We report measurements and searches for resonant $B^{\pm} \to K^{\pm} h \to K^{\pm} γγ$ decays where $h$ is a $η,η^{\prime},η_{c},η_{c}(2S),χ_{c0},χ_{c2},J/ψ$ meson or the X(3872) particle.
This Letter reports a search for a narrow resonant state decaying into two $W$ bosons and a bottom-antibottom quark pair where one $W$ boson decays leptonically and the other decays into a quark-antiquark pair. The search is particularly sensitive to top-antitop resonant production. We use the full data sample of proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.45 fb$^{-1}$. No evidence for resonant production is found and upper limits on the production cross section tim…
The resonant structure of the four pion final state in the decay $τ\to 3ππ^0ν_τ$ is analyzed using 4.27 million $τ^+τ^-$ pairs collected by the CLEO II experiment. We search for second class currents in the decay $τ\to ωπν_τ$ using spin-parity analysis and establish an upper limit on the non-vector current contribution. The mass and width of the $ρ'$ resonance are extracted from a fit to the $τ\to ωπν_τ$ spectral function. A partial wave analysis of the resonant structure of the $τ\to 3ππ^0ν_τ$ decay is performed; the spectral decomposition of the four pion system is dominated by the $ωπ$ and …
This Letter reports a search for non standard model topquark resonances, $Z'$, decaying to $t\bar{t} \rightarrow W^+b W^-\bar{b}$ %\rightarrow qq'b qq' \bar{b}$, where both $W$ decay to quarks. We examine the top-antitop quark invariant mass spectrum for the presence of narrow resonant states. The search uses a data sample of $\ppb$ collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, with an integrated luminosity of 2.8 fb$^{-1}$. No evidence for top-antitop quark resonant production is found. We place upper limits on the production cros…
We report on a first search for resonant pair production of neutral long-lived particles (NLLP) which each decay to a bbbar pair, using 3.6 fb^-1 of data recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We search for pairs of displaced vertices in the tracking detector at radii in the range 1.6--20 cm from the beam axis. No significant excess is observed above background, and upper limits are set on the production rate in a hidden-valley benchmark model for a range of Higgs boson masses and NLLP masses and lifetimes.
We present the first observation of the lambda_b->lambda_c pi-pi+pi- decay using data from an integrated luminosity of approximately 2.4 fb-1 of ppbar collisions at ECM=1.96 TeV, collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We also present the first observation of the resonant decays lambda_b->sigma_c(2455)0 pi+pi- ->lambda_c pi-pi+pi-, lambda_b->sigma_c(2455)++ pi-pi- ->lambda_c pi-pi+pi-, lambda_b->lambda_c(2595)+ pi- ->lambda_c pi-pi+pi- and lambda_b->lambda_c(2625)+ pi- ->lambda_c pi-pi+pi-, and measure their relative branching ratios.
We search for resonant WW or WZ production using up to 5.4 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The data are consistent with the standard model background expectation, and we set limits on a resonance mass using the sequential standard model (SSM) W' boson and the Randall-Sundrum model graviton G as benchmarks. We exclude an SSM W' boson in the mass range 180 - 690 GeV and a Randall-Sundrum graviton in the range 300 - 754 GeV at 95% CL.
We search for resonant production of tt pairs in 4.8 fb^{-1} integrated luminosity of ppbar collision data at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV in the lepton+jets decay channel, where one top quark decays leptonically and the other hadronically. A matrix element reconstruction technique is used; for each event a probability density function (pdf) of the ttbar candidate invariant mass is sampled. These pdfs are used to construct a likelihood function, whereby the cross section for resonant ttbar production is estimated, given a hypothetical resonance mass and width. The data indicate no evidence of resonant pro…
We present results from Fermilab experiment E791. We extracted the fractions of resonant components in the $Λ_c^+\to p K^- π^+$ decays, and found a significant polarization of the $Λ_c^+$ using a fully 5-dimensional resonant analysis. We also did resonant analyses of $D^+$ and $D^+_s$ decays into $π^+π^-π^+$. We observed an insignificant asymmetry in the Breit Wigner describing the $f_0(980)$ and found good evidence for a light and broad scalar resonance in the $D^+$ decays.
Collider searches for new vector-like particles such as Z' have mostly been pursued by looking for a peak in the invariant mass spectrum of the decay products. However off-shell Z' exchange may leave an imprint on other kinematic distributions, leading thus to non-resonant searches. The aim of this paper is to assess, in the context of the LHC, the interplay between resonant (s-channel) and non-resonant (t-channel) searches for a generic leptophobic Z' model. We show in particular that while non-resonant searches are less sensitive to small couplings, they tend to be more adapted at high masse…
Searches for resonant sneutrino production in e+e- collisions under the assumption that R-parity is not conserved and that the dominant R-parity violating coupling is lambda_{121} or lambda_{131} used data recorded by DELPHI in 1997 to 2000 at centre-of-mass energies of 183 to 208 GeV. No deviation from the Standard Model was observed. Upper limits are given for the lambda_{121} and lambda_{131} couplings as a function of the sneutrino mass and total width. The limits are especially stringent for sneutrino masses equal to the centre-of-mass energies with the highest integrated luminosities rec…
We present a search for a narrow resonance in the inclusive diphoton final state using 2.7 fb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar Collider. We observe good agreement between the data and the background prediction, and set the first 95% C.L. upper limits on the production cross section times the branching ratio for decay into a pair of photons for resonance masses between 100 and 150 GeV. This search is also interpreted in the context of several models of electroweak symmetry breaking with a Higgs boson decaying into two photons.
We analyse the consequences of the usual assumption of a constant function to fit non-resonant decays from experimental Dalitz plot describing charmed meson decays. We first show, using the $D^+\to \bar{K}^0π^+π^0$ decay channel as an example, how an inadequate extraction of the non-resonant contribution could yield incorrect measurements for the resonant channels. We analyse how the correct study of this decay will provide a test for the validity of factorization in D meson decays. Finally, we show how form factors could be extracted from non-resonant decays. We particularly discuss about the…
A search for resonant and non-resonant pair production of Higgs bosons in the $b\bar{b}τ^+τ^-$ final state is presented. The search uses 36.1 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data with $\sqrt{s}= 13$ TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2015 and 2016. The semileptonic and fully hadronic decays of the $τ$-lepton pair are considered. No significant excess above the expected background is observed in the data. The cross-section times branching ratio for non-resonant Higgs boson pair production is constrained to be less than 30.9 fb, 12.7 times the Standard Model expectation, at 95% confi…
Search for resonant and non-resonant Higgs boson pair production in the $b\bar bτ^+τ^-$ decay channel using 13 TeV $pp$ collision data from the ATLAS detector
A search for a narrow-width resonance decaying into two Higgs bosons, each decaying into a bottom quark-antiquark pair, is presented. The search is performed using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=$ 13 TeV recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. No evidence for such a signal is observed. Upper limits are set on the product of the production cross section for the resonance and the branching fraction for the selected decay mode in the resonance mass range from 260 to 1200 GeV.
We report on a search for narrow-width particles decaying to a top and antitop quark pair. The data set used in the analysis corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 680 pb^{-1} collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II. We present 95% confidence level upper limits on the cross section times branching ratio. Assuming a specific topcolor-assisted technicolor production model, the leptophobic Z' with width Γ_{Z'}=0.012M_{Z'}, we exclude the mass range M_{Z'} < 725 GeV/c^2 at the 95% confidence level.
This Letter describes a model-independent search for production of new resonant states in photon-jet events in 2.11 fb^-1 of proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. We compare the photon-jet mass distribution to a data-driven background estimate and find consistency with the background hypothesis. Given the lack of evidence for a signal, we set 95% CL limits on generic Gaussian-shape signals and on a benchmark excited-quark (q*) model, excluding 2 TeV Gaussian resonances with cross section times branching ratio times acceptance times efficiency near 5 fb and excluding q* masses below 2.46…
A model-independent search for a narrow resonance produced in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV and decaying to a pair of 125 GeV Higgs bosons that in turn each decays into bottom quark-antiquark pairs is performed by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The analyzed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 17.9 inverse femtobarns. No evidence for a signal is observed. Upper limits at a 95% confidence level on the production cross section for such a resonance, in the mass range from 270 to 1100 GeV, are reported. Using these results, a radion with decay constant of 1 TeV and mass fro…
We present a search for supersymmetry in the R-parity violating resonant production and decay of smuons and muon-sneutrinos in the channels smuon->neutralino_1 muon, smuon->neutralino_2 muon, and muon-sneutrino->chargino muon. We analyzed 0.38 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity collected between April 2002 and August 2004 with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The observed number of events is in agreement with the standard model expectation, and we calculate 95% C.L. limits on the slepton production cross section times branching fraction to gaugino plus muon, as a function of slep…
Toward the systematic search for axion-like particles in the eV mass range, we proposed the concept of a stimulated resonant photon collider by focusing three short pulse lasers into vacuum. In order to realize such a collider, we have performed a proof-of-principle experiment with a set of large incident angles between three beams to overcome the expected difficulty to ensure the space-time overlap between short pulse lasers and also established a method to evaluate the bias on the polarization states, which is useful for a future variable-incident-angle collision system. In this paper we pre…
We evaluate the non-resonant decay amplitude of the process $B^\pm\to K^\pmπ^+ π^-$ using an approach based on final state hadronic interactions described in terms of meson exchanges. We conclude that this mechanism generates inhomogeneities in the Dalitz plot of the B decay.
Heavy resonances decaying into a pair of fundamental particles such as $jj$, $\ell^+\ell^-$, $γγ$, and $\ellν$, are among the most common features to search for phenomena beyond the standard model (SM). Electroweak boson pair production, such as $WW$ or $ZZ$ with subsequent decays to $\ellν\ell'ν'$ and $\ell\ell jj$ respectively, is a powerful test of the spontaneously broken gauge symmetry of the SM and can be also used to search for phenomena beyond the SM. There is a wide spectrum of theoretical models predicting these kinds of resonant signatures. This note covers several searches for thes…
A search for resonant diboson production using a data sample corresponding to 4.7 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in pp collisions at 7 TeV is presented. The search for a narrow resonance in the WW or WZ mass distribution is conducted in a final state with an electron or a muon, missing transverse momentum and at least two jets. No significant excess is observed and limits are set using three benchmark models: WW resonance masses below 940 GeV and 710 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level for spin-2 Randall-Sundrum and bulk Randal…
With a sample of 88.8 BBbar pairs produced at PEP-II in e+e- annihilation through the Upsilon(4S) resonance and recorded with the BABAR detector, we search for the B+ --> K*0 Rho+ decay mode. A signal is observed for the first time with a significance of more than 5 sigma. We measure a preliminary branching fraction of BR(B+ --> K*0 Rho+)=[17.0 +-2.9 (stat) +-2.0 (syst) +0.0 -1.9 (non-resonant)] 10(-6). The "non-resonant" error corresponds to the uncertainty from non-resonant backgrounds not modeled in the fit. The measurement of the longitudinal-polarized component to this vector-vector pengu…
A search for resonant Higgs boson pair production in the $b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$ final state is presented. The analysis uses 126-139 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis is divided into two channels, targeting Higgs boson decays which are reconstructed as pairs of small-radius jets or as individual large-radius jets. Spin-0 and spin-2 benchmark signal models are considered, both of which correspond to resonant $HH$ production via gluon$-$gluon fusion. The data are consistent with Standard Model predictio…
A generic search is presented for a heavy particle decaying to WZ to l nu l'l' (l, l' = e, mu) final states. The data were recorded by the ATLAS detector in sqrt(s) = 7 TeV pp collisions at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.02 fb-1. The transverse mass distribution of the selected WZ candidates is found to be consistent with the Standard Model expectation. Upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio are derived using two benchmark models predicting a heavy particle decaying to a WZ pair.
A search for the resonant production of high-mass photon pairs is presented. The analysis is based on samples of proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS experiment at center-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 19.7 and 3.3 inverse femtobarns, respectively. The search focuses on spin-0 and spin-2 resonances with masses between 0.5 and 4 TeV and with widths, relative to the mass, between 1.4E-4 and 5.6E-2. Limits are set on scalar resonances produced through gluon-gluon fusion, and on Randall-Sundrum gravitons. A modest excess of events compati…
We present a search for the pair-production of a non-standard-model strongly-interacting particle that decays to a pair of quarks or gluons, leading to a final state with four hadronic jets. We consider both non-resonant production via an intermediate gluon as well as resonant production via a distinct non-standard-model intermediate strongly-interacting particle. We use data collected by the CDF experiment in proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.6 fb$^{-1}$. We find the data to be consistent with standard model predictions. We repo…
This paper presents a search for a new heavy particle produced in association with a top or antitop quark. Two models in which the new heavy particle is a color singlet or a color triplet are considered, decaying respectively to tbarq or tq, leading to a resonance within the ttbar + jets signature. The full 2011 ATLAS pp collision dataset from the LHC (4.7 fb-1) is used to search for ttbar events produced in association with jets, in which one of the W bosons from the top quarks decays leptonically and the other decays hadronically. The data are consistent with the Standard Model expectation, …
A search for non-resonant Higgs boson pair production, as predicted by the Standard Model, is presented, where one of the Higgs bosons decays via the $H\rightarrow bb$ channel and the other via one of the $H \rightarrow WW^*/ZZ^*/ττ$ channels. The analysis selection requires events to have at least two $b$-tagged jets and exactly two leptons (electrons or muons) with opposite electric charge in the final state. Candidate events consistent with Higgs boson pair production are selected using a multi-class neural network discriminant. The analysis uses 139 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data recorde…
For three-body hadron decays mediated by intermediate resonances with large widths, we show how to properly extract the quasi-two-body decay rates for a meaningful comparison with the corresponding theoretical estimates, using several $B$ decays as explicit examples. We compute the correction factor from finite width effects in the QCD factorization approach, and make a comparison with that using the experimental parameterization in which the momentum dependence in the weak dynamics is absent. Although the difference is generally less than $10\%$ for tensor and vector resonances, it can be as …
Searches for resonant and nonresonant pair-produced Higgs bosons (HH) decaying respectively into ll nu nu, through either W or Z bosons, and bbbar are presented. The analyses are based on a sample of proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 inverse femtobarns. Data and predictions from the standard model are in agreement within uncertainties. For the standard model HH hypothesis, the data exclude at 95% confidence level a product of the production cross section and branching fraction larger than …
A search for new physics with non-resonant signals in dielectron and dimuon final states in the mass range above 2 TeV is presented. This is the first search for non-resonant signals in dilepton final states at the LHC to use a background estimate from the data. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$, were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider. The benchmark signal signature is a two-quark and two-lepton contact interaction, which would enhance the di…

In this work, we study the ($S$, $P$ and $D$)-wave $K^+K^-$ contributions to $B\to KKK$ decays in the perturbative QCD approach at leading order. Within the two-meson wave functions describing the nonperturbative dynamics in the kaon-pair for different waves, we calculate the branching fractions and the direct $CP$ asymmetries of these decay modes in the corresponding resonance regions. Most of our numerical results are well consistent with the current measurements. We note that the narrow-width approximation is invalid in the quasi-two-body decays $B\to Kf_0(980)\to KKK$. For other decays, un…
We propose a new collider probe for axion-like particles (ALPs), and more generally for pseudo-Goldstone bosons: non-resonant searches which take advantage of the derivative nature of their interactions with Standard Model particles. ALPs can participate as off-shell mediators in the $s$-channel of $2 \to 2$ scattering processes at colliders like the LHC. We exemplify the power of this novel type of search by deriving new limits on ALP couplings to gauge bosons via the processes $p p \to Z Z$, $p p \to γγ$ and $p p \to j j$ using Run 2 CMS public data, probing previously unexplored areas of th…
A search for resonant absorbtion of 14.4 keV solar axions by $^{57}$Fe target was performed. The Si(Li) detector placed inside the low-background setup was used to detect the $γ$-quanta appearing in the deexcitation of 14.4 keV nuclear level: $A+\rm{^{57}Fe} \to \rm{^{57}Fe^{*}} \to \rm{^{57}Fe} + γ$. The new upper limit for the hadronic axion mass have been obtained: $m_{A} \leq 151$ eV (90% C.L.) ($S$=0.5, $z$=0.56).
Charmless 3-body decays of $B$ mesons are studied using a simple model based on the framework of the factorization approach. We have identified a large source of the nonresonant signal in the matrix elements of scalar densities, e.g. $<K\bar K|\bar ss|0>$. This explains the dominance of the nonresonant background in $B\to KKK$ decays, the sizable nonresonant fraction of order $(35\sim 40)%$ in $K^-π^+π^-$ and $\bar K^0π^+π^-$ modes and the smallness of nonresonant rates in $B\to πππ$ decays. We have computed the resonant and nonresonant contributions to charmless 3-body decays and determined t…
The contribution of a $K^*(1430)$ $0^+$ resonance to $D^0\to K^-π^+$ is calculated by applying the soft pion theorem to $D^+ \to K^* π^+$, and is found to be about 30% of the measured amplitude and to be larger than the $ΔI=3/2$ component of this amplitude. We estimate a 70% contribution to the total amplitude from a higher $K^*(1950)$ resonance. This implies large deviations from factorization in D decay amplitudes, a lifetime difference between D^0 and D^+, and an enhancement of $D^0-\bar D^0$ mixing due to SU(3) breaking.
We investigate B3 mSUGRA models, where the lightest scalar tau, stau_1, is the LSP. B3 models allow for lepton number and R-parity violation; the LSP can thus decay. We assume one non-zero B3 coupling lambda'_ijk at M_GUT, which generates further B3 couplings at M_Z. We study the RGEs and give numerical examples. The new couplings lead to additional stau_1 decays, providing distinct collider signatures. We classify the stau_1 decays and describe their dependence on the mSUGRA parameters. We exploit our results for single slepton production at the LHC. As an explicit numerical example, we inves…
We consider the ATLAS and CMS searches for dijet resonances, as well as the ATLAS search for like-sign dimuon pairs at the LHC with 7 TeV center of mass energy. We interpret their exclusions in terms of bounds on the supersymmetric R-parity violating parameter space. For this we focus on resonant slepton production followed by the corresponding decay.
The search for resonant absorption of the Primakoff solar axions by $^{169}$Tm nuclei have been performed. Such an absorption should lead to the excitation of low-lying nuclear energy level: $A+^{169}$Tm $\to ^{169}$Tm$^*$ $\to ^{169}$Tm$ + γ$ (8.41 keV). The Si(Li) detector and $^{169}$Tm target placed inside the low-background setup were used for that purpose. As a result, a new restriction on the axion-photon coupling and axion mass was obtained: $g_{Aγ}({GeV}^{-1})\cdot m_A(eV)\leq1.36\cdot10^{-5}$ (90% c.l.). In model of hadronic axion this restriction corresponds to the upper limit on ax…
Hadron collider signatures of new physics are investigated in which a primary resonance is produced that decays to a secondary resonance by emitting a W-boson, with the secondary resonance decaying to two jets. This topology can arise in supersymmetric theories with R-parity violation where the lightest supersymmetric particles are either a pair of squarks, or a slepton - sneutrino pair. The resulting signal can have a cross section consistent with the Wjj observation reported by the CDF collaboration, while remaining consistent with earlier constraints. Other observables that can be used to c…
In this work, we study the $S$, $P$ and $D$ wave resonance contributions to three-body decays $B_{(s)} \to [ D^{(*)}, \bar{D}^{(*)} ] K^+K^-$ by employing the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach, where the kaon-kaon invariant mass spectra are dominated by the $f_0(980),f_0(1370),$ $ϕ(1020),ϕ(1680),f_2(1270),f^{\prime}_2(1525),f_2(1750)$ and $f_2(1950)$ resonances. The $KK$ $S$-wave component $f_0(980)$ is modeled with the Flatté formalism, while other resonances are described by the relativistic Breit-Wigner (BW) line shape. The corresponding decay channels are studied by constructing the kaon-ka…
The prospects of observing the non-resonant di-Higgs production in the Standard Model at the proposed high energy upgrade of the LHC, $viz.$ the HE-LHC$~$($\sqrt{s}=27~{\rm TeV}$ and $\mathcal{L} = 15~{\rm ab^{-1}}$) is studied. Various di-Higgs final states are considered based on their cleanliness and signal yields. The search for the non-resonant double Higgs production at the HE-LHC is performed in the $b\bar{b}γγ$, $b\bar{b}τ^{+}τ^{-}$, $b\bar{b}WW^{*}$, $WW^{*}γγ$, $b\bar{b}ZZ^{*}$ and $b\bar{b}μ^{+}μ^{-}$ channels. The signal-background discrimination is performed through multivariate a…
We investigate a resonant leptogenesis scenario by quasi-degenerate right-handed neutrinos which have TeV-scale masses. Especially, we consider the case when two right-handed neutrinos are responsible to leptogenesis and the seesaw mechanism for active neutrino masses, and assume that the CP violation occurs only in the mixing matrix of active neutrinos. In this case the sign of the baryon asymmetry depends on the Dirac and Majorana CP phases as well as the mixing angle of the right-handed neutrinos. It is shown how the yield of the baryon asymmetry correlates with these parameters. In additio…
The near equality between the measured value for $|V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}|$ and its unitarity triangle lower bound from $\sin 2β$ measurements suggests that $α\approx 90^{\circ}$ and $\sinγ\approx \cosβ= 0.91$ and a large direct CP violation in B decays would be possible. In this talk, I would like to discuss a recent analysis of the non resonant and resonant CP asymmetry for the decays $B^- \to π^+ π^- K^-$ and $B^- \to K^+ K^- K^-$ where the CP asymmetry at the $χ_{c0}$ resonance comes from the interference of the non resonant amplitude with the resonant amplitude $B^\pm \to χ_{c0} K^\pm $ $ \toπ^+…
We extend the coverage of resonant di-Higgs searches in the $b \bar{b} b \bar{b}$ final state to the process $p p \to H_1 \to H_2 H_2 \to b \bar{b} b \bar{b}$, where both $H_{1,2}$ are spin-$0$ states beyond the Standard Model. Such a process constitutes a joint discovery mode for the new states $H_1$ and $H_2$. We present the first sensitivity study of this channel, using public LHC data to validate our analysis. We also provide a first estimate of the sensitivity of the search for the HL-LHC and future facilities like the HE-LHC and FCC-hh. We analyze the discovery potential of this search f…
Recent CMS searches for di-leptoquark production report local excesses of 2.4$σ$ in a $eejj$ channel and 2.6$σ$ in a $ejj$ missing $p_T$ channel. Here, we simultaneously explain both excesses with resonant slepton production in ${\mathcal R}-$parity violating supersymmetry (SUSY). We consider resonant slepton production, which decays to a lepton and a chargino/neutralino, followed by three-body decays of the neutralino/chargino via an $\mathcal{R}-$parity violating coupling. There are regions of parameter space which are also compatible at the 95% confidence level (CL) with a 2.8$σ$ $eejj$ exc…
A search for resonant absorption of the solar axion by $^{83}\rm{Kr}$ nuclei was performed using the proportional counter installed inside the low-background setup at the Baksan Neutrino Observatory. The obtained model independent upper limit on the combination of isoscalar and isovector axion-nucleon couplings $|g_3-g_0|\leq 8.4\times 10^{-7}$ allowed us to set the new upper limit on the hadronic axion mass of $m_{A}\leq 65$ eV (95\% C.L.) with the generally accepted values $S$=0.5 and $z$=0.56.
We study the $D_s^+\to π^+(a_0(980)^0\to)π^0η$, $π^0(a_0(980)^+\to)π^+η$ decays, which have been recently measured by the BESIII collaboration. We propose that $D_s^+\to π^{+(0)}(a_0(980)^{0(+)}\to)π^{0(+)}η$ receives the contributions from the triangle rescattering processes, where $M^0$ and $ρ^+$ in $D_s^+\to M^0 ρ^+$, by exchanging $π^{0(+)}$, are formed as $a_0(980)^{0(+)}$ and $π^{+(0)}$, respectively, with $M^0=(η,η')$. Accordingly, we calculate that ${\cal B}(D_s^+\to a_0(980)^{0(+)}π^{+(0)})=(1.7\pm 0.2\pm 0.1)\times 10^{-2}$ and ${\cal B}(D_s^+\to π^{+(0)}(a_0(980)^{0(+)}\to)π^{0(+)}η…
We investigate the bounds which can be placed on generic new-physics contributions to dijet production at the LHC using the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory, deriving the first consistently-treated EFT bounds from non-resonant high-energy data. We recast an analysis searching for quark compositeness, equivalent to treating the SM with one higher-dimensional operator as a complete UV model. In order to reach consistent, model-independent EFT conclusions, it is necessary to truncate the EFT effects consistently at order $1/Λ^2$ and to include the possibility of multiple ope…
