Combining the density functional theory (DFT) and the Gutzwiller variational approach, a LDA+Gutzwiller method is developed to treat the correlated electron systems from {\it ab-initio}. All variational parameters are self-consistently determined from total energy minimization. The method is computationally cheaper, yet the quasi-particle spectrum is well described through kinetic energy renormalization. It can be applied equally to the systems from weakly correlated metals to strongly correlated insulators. The calculated results for SrVO$_3$, Fe, Ni and NiO, show dramatic improvement over LDA and LDA+U.
We introduce in detail our newly developed \textit{ab initio} LDA+Gutzwiller method, in which the Gutzwiller variational approach is naturally incorporated with the density functional theory (DFT) through the "Gutzwiller density functional theory (GDFT)" (which is a generalization of original Kohn-Sham formalism). This method can be used for ground state determination of electron systems ranging from weakly correlated metal to strongly correlated insulators with long-range ordering. We will show that its quality for ground state is as high as that by dynamic mean field theory (DMFT), and yet i…
The thermodynamic stable phase of cerium metal in the intermediate pressure regime (5.0--13.0 GPa) is studied in detail by the newly developed local-density approximation (LDA)+ Gutzwiller method, which can include the strong correlation effect among the 4\textit{f} electrons in cerium metal properly. Our numerical results show that the $α"$ phase, which has the distorted body-centered-tetragonal structure, is the thermodynamic stable phase in the intermediate pressure regime and all the other phases including the $α'$ phase ($α$-U structure), $α$ phase (fcc structure), and bct phases are eith…
The $α$-$γ$ transition in cerium has been studied in both zero and finite temperature by Gutzwiller density functional theory. We find that the first order transition between $α$ and $γ$ phases persists to the zero temperature with negative pressure. By further including the entropy contributed by both electronic quasi-particles and lattice vibration, we obtain the total free energy at given volume and temperature, from which we obtain the $α$-$γ$ transition from the first principle calculation. We also computed the phase diagram and pressure versus volume isotherms of cerium at finite tempera…
The Gutzwiller technique has long been known as a method to include correlations in electronic structure calculations. Here we implement an ab-initio Gutzwiller+LDA calculation, and apply it to a classic problem, the ferromagnetism of bulk bcc Fe, whose nature has attracted recent interest. In the conventional Stoner-Wohlfarth model, the ferromagnetic ordering of iron sets in so that the electrons can reduce their mutual Coulomb repulsion at the extra cost of some increase of electron kinetic energy. Density functional theory within the spin polarized local density approximation (LDA) has long…
A fast impurity solver for the dynamical mean field theory(DMFT) named Two Mode Approxi- mation (TMA) is proposed based on the Gutzwiller variational approach, which captures the main features of both the coherent and incoherent motion of the electrons. The new solver works with real frequency at zero temperature and it provides directly the spectral function of the electrons. It can be easily generalized to multi-orbital impurity problems with general on-site interactions, which makes it very useful in LDA+DMFT. Benchmarks on one and two band Hubbard models are presented, and the results agre…
Except for small molecules, it is impossible to solve many electrons systems without imposing severe approximations. If the configuration interaction approaches (CI) or Coupled Clusters techniques \cite{FuldeBook} are applicable for molecules, their generalization for solids is difficult. For materials with a kinetic energy greater than the Coulomb interaction, calculations based on the density functional theory (DFT), associated with the local density approximation (LDA) \cite{Hohenberg64, Kohn65} give satisfying qualitative and quantitative results to describe ground state properties. These …
The electronic structures of FeAs-compounds strongly depend on the Fe-As bonding, which can not be described successfully by the local density approximation (LDA). Treating the multi-orbital fluctuations from $ab$-$initio$ by LDA+Gutzwiller method, we are now able to predict the correct Fe-As bond-length, and find that Fe-As bonding-strength is 30% weaker, which will explain the observed "soft phonon". The bands are narrowed by a factor of 2, and the $d_{3z^2-r^2}$ orbital is pushed up to cross the Fermi level, forming 3-dimensional Fermi surfaces, which suppress the anisotropy and the ($π,π$)…
Based on the variational Gutzwiller theory, we present a method for the computation of response functions for multiband Hubbard models with general local Coulomb interactions. The improvement over the conventional random-phase approximation is exemplified for an infinite-dimensional two-band Hubbard model where the incorporation of the local multiplet-structure leads to a much larger sensitivity of ferromagnetism on the Hund coupling. Our method can be implemented into LDA+Gutzwiller schemes and will therefore be an important tool for the computation of response functions for strongly correlat…
While LDA+U method is well established for strongly correlated materials with well localized orbitals, its application to weakly correlated metals is questionable. By extending the LDA Stoner approach onto LDA+U, we show that LDA+U enhances the Stoner factor, while reducing the density of states. Arguably the most important correlation effects in metals, fluctuation-induced mass renormalization and suppression of the Stoner factor, are missing from LDA+U. On the other hand, for {\it moderately} correlated metals LDA+U may be useful. With this in mind, we derive a new version of LDA+U that is c…
Using the generalized Gutzwiller method we present results on the ferromagnetic behavior of extended Hubbard models with two degenerate eg orbitals. We find significant differences to results obtained from Hartree-Fock theory.
We introduce Gutzwiller-correlated wave functions for the variational investigation of general multi-band Hubbard models. We set up a diagrammatic formalism which allows us to evaluate analytically ground-state properties in the limit of infinite spatial dimensions. In this limit recent results obtained within the Gutzwiller approximation are seen to become exact for these wave functions. We further show that the Slave Boson mean-field theory for degenerate bands becomes variationally controlled at zero temperature in infinite dimensions. Lastly, we briefly comment on the variational approach …

We have generalized the Gutzwiller method to the cases of n=>2 correlated bands and report studies on a degenerate two-band model with Hund's rule type on-site interactions. At half band filling the metal-insulator transitions are usually of first order.
The aim of this review article is to assess the descriptive capabilities of the Hubbard-rooted LDA+U method and to clarify the conditions under which it can be expected to be most predictive. The paper illustrates the theoretical foundation of LDA+U and prototypical applications to the study of correlated materials, discusses the most relevant approximations used in its formulation, and makes a comparison with other approaches also developed for similar purposes. Open "issues" of the method are also discussed, including the calculation of the electronic couplings (the Hubbard U), the precise e…
Rapid progress in noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) computing technology has led to the development of novel resource-efficient hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, such as the variational quantum eigensolver (VQE), that can address open challenges in quantum chemistry, physics and material science. Proof-of-principle quantum chemistry simulations for small molecules have been demonstrated on NISQ devices. While several approaches have been theoretically proposed for correlated materials, NISQ simulations of interacting periodic models on current quantum devices have not yet been demonst…
We present a computational study of $L$-edge resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) in correlated 3$d$ transition-metal oxides using an $ab$ $initio$ method based on local density approximation + dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). The present method, building on Anderson impurity model with an optimized continuum bath within DMFT, is an extension of the cluster model to include unbound electron-hole pair excitations as well as material-specific charge-transfer excitations with less empirical parameters. We find a good agreement with available experimental data. The relationship between co…
The ground states of Na$_x$CoO$_2$ ($0.0<x<1.0$) is studied by the LDA+Gutzwiller approach, where charge transfer and orbital fluctuations are all self-consistently treated {\it ab-initio}. In contrast to previous studies, which are parameter-dependent, we characterized the phase diagram as: (1) Stoner magnetic metal for $x>0.6$ due to $a_{1g}$ van-Hove singularity near band top; (2) correlated non-magnetic metal without $e_g^{\prime}$ pockets for $0.3<x<0.6$; (3) $e_g^{\prime}$ pockets appear for $x<0.3$, and additional magnetic instability involves. Experimental quasi-particle properties is …
The question about the existence of Bogoliubov's quasiparticles in the BCS wave functions underneath Gutzwiller's projection is of importance to strongly correlated systems. We develop a method to examine the two-particle excitations of Gutzwiller-projected BCS wave functions by using the variational Monte Carlo approach. We find that the exact Gutzwiller-projected quasiparticle (GQP) dispersions are quantitatively reproduced by the Gutzwiller-projected Bogoliubov quasiparticles (GBQP) except the regions where d-wave Cooper pairing is strong. Since GQP still shows higher energy than GBQP near …
Multi-band Gutzwiller-correlated wave functions reconcile the contrasting concepts of itinerant band electrons versus electrons localized in partially filled atomic shells. The approximate evaluation of these variational ground states becomes exact in the limit of large coordination number. The result allows the identification of quasi-particle band structures for correlated electron systems. As a first application, we summarize a study of itinerant ferromagnetism in a two-band model, thereby elucidating the co-operation of the Coulomb repulsion and the Hund's-rule exchange. Then, we present r…
Ab initio calculation of the electronic properties of materials is a major challenge for solid state theory. Whereas the experience of forty years has proven density functional theory (DFT) in a suitable, e.g. local approximation (LDA) to give a satisfactory description in case electronic correlations are weak, materials with strongly correlated, say d- or f-electrons remain a challenge. Such materials often exhibit colossal responses to small changes of external parameters such as pressure, temperature, and magnetic field, and are therefore most interesting for technical applications. Encoura…
We present a detailed derivation of the Gutzwiller Density Functional Theory that covers all conceivable cases of symmetries and Gutzwiller wave functions. The method is used in a study of ferromagnetic nickel where we calculate ground state properties (lattice constant, bulk modulus, spin magnetic moment) and the quasi-particle band structure. Our method resolves most shortcomings of an ordinary Density Functional calculation on nickel. However, the quality of the results strongly depends on the particular choice of the double-counting correction. This constitutes a serious problem for all me…
The description of realistic strongly correlated systems has recently advanced through the combination of density functional theory in the local density approximation (LDA) and dynamical mean field theory (DMFT). This LDA+DMFT method is able to treat both strongly correlated insulators and metals. Several interfaces between LDA and DMFT have been used, such as (N-th order) Linear Muffin Tin Orbitals or Maximally localized Wannier Functions. Such schemes are however either complex in use or additional simplifications are often performed (i.e., the atomic sphere approximation). We present an alt…
I present a critical overview of so-called "{\it ab initio}" DFT (density fuctional theory) based calculation schemes for the description of the electronic structure, energy spectrum, and optical response for strongly correlated 3$d$ oxides, in particular, crystal-field and charge transfer transitions as compared with an "old"\, cluster model that does generalize crystal-field and ligand-field theory. As a most instructive illustration of validity of numerous calculation techniques I address the prototypical 3$d$ insulator NiO predicted to be a metal in frames of a standard LDA (local density …
We study the effect of spatial inhomogeneity on the physics of a strongly correlated electron system exhibiting a metallic phase and a Mott insulating phase, represented by the simple Hubbard model. In three dimensions, we consider various geometries, including vacuum-metal-vacuum, a junction between a weakly and a strongly correlated metal, and finally the double junctions metal-Mott insulator-metal and metal-strongly correlated metal- metal. We applied to these problems the self-consistent Gutzwiller technique recently developed in our group, whose approximate nature is compensated by an ext…
We discuss the recently proposed LDA'+DMFT approach providing consistent parameter free treatment of the so called double counting problem arising within the LDA+DMFT hybrid computational method for realistic strongly correlated materials. In this approach the local exchange-correlation portion of electron-electron interaction is excluded from self consistent LDA calculations for strongly correlated electronic shells, e.g. d-states of transition metal compounds. Then the corresponding double counting term in LDA+DMFT Hamiltonian is consistently set in the local Hartree (fully localized limit -…
To elucidate the role played by the transition metal ion in the pnictide materials, we compare the electronic and magnetic properties of BaFe_{2}As_{2} with BaMn_{2}As_{2}. To this end we employ the LDA+Gutzwiller method to analyze the mass renormalizations and the size of the ordered magnetic moment of the two systems. We study a model that contains all five transition metal 3d orbitals together with the Ba-5d and As-4p states (ddp-model) and compare these results with a downfolded model that consists of Fe/Mn d-states only (d-model). Electronic correlations are treated using the multiband Gu…
Ferromagnetic Nickel is the most celebrated iron group metal with pronounced discrepancies between the experimental electronic properties and predictions of density functional theories. In this work, we show in detail that the recently developed multi-band Gutzwiller theory provides a very good description of the quasi-particle band structure of nickel. We obtain the correct exchange splittings and we reproduce the experimental Fermi-surface topology. The correct (111)-direction of the magnetic easy axis and the right order of magnitude of the magnetic anisotropy are found. Our theory also rep…
We present a systematic study of the electronic structure of several prototypical correlated transition-metal oxides: VO2, V2O3, Ti2O3, LaTiO3, and YTiO3. In all these materials, in the low-temperature insulating phases the local and semilocal density approximations (LDA and GGA) of density-functional theory yield a metallic Kohn-Sham band structure. Here we show that, without invoking strong-correlation effects, the role of non-local exchange is essential to cure the LDA/GGA delocalization error and provide a band-structure description of the electronic properties in qualitative agreement wit…
Examining phase stabilities and phase equilibria in strongly correlated materials asks for a next level in the many-body extensions to the local-density approximation (LDA) beyond mainly spectroscopic assessments. Here we put the charge-self-consistent LDA+dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) methodology based on projected local orbitals for the LDA+DMFT interface and a tailored pseudopotential framework into action in order to address such thermodynamics of realistic strongly correlated systems. Namely a case study for the electronic phase diagram of the well-known prototype Mott-phenomena syst…
The correlated Kondo insulator state of the plutonium monochalcogenides is investigated using the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) and the local density approximation +U (LDA+U). The DMFT-dynamical fluctuations lead to a correlated insulator state at elevated temperature, in sharp contrast to the static LDA+U approach that fails to reproduce both the insulating behavior and anomalous lattice constant. The DMFT conversely predicts the experimentally observed anomalous increase of the gap with pressure and explains the lattice constant very well.
We study the Hubbard model with bond-charge interaction (`correlated hopping') in terms of the Gutzwiller wave function. We show how to express the Gutzwiller expectation value of the bond-charge interaction in terms of the correlated momentum-space occupation. This relation is valid in all spatial dimensions. We find that in infinite dimensions, where the Gutzwiller approximation becomes exact, the bond-charge interaction lowers the critical Hubbard interaction for the Brinkman-Rice metal-insulator transition. The bond-charge interaction also favors ferromagnetic transitions, especially if th…
We consider strongly correlated limit of variants of the Hubbard model (HM) in which on parts of the system it is energetically favourable to project out doublons from the low energy Hilbert space while on other sites of the system it is favourable to project out holes while still allowing for doublons. As an effect the low energy Hilbert space itself varies with sites of the system. Though the formalism is well developed for the case of doublon projection in the literature, case of hole projection has not been explored in detail so far. We derive basic framework by defining creation and annih…
Gutzwiller functions are popular variational wavefunctions for correlated electrons in Hubbard models. Following the variational principle, we are interested in the Gutzwiller parameters that minimize e.g. the expectation value of the energy. Rewriting the expectation value as a rational function in the Gutzwiller parameters, we find a very efficient way for performing that minimization. The method can be used to optimize general Gutzwiller-type wavefunctions both, in variational and in fixed-node diffusion Monte Carlo.
We use machine learning to enable large-scale molecular dynamics (MD) of a correlated electron model under the Gutzwiller approximation scheme. This model exhibits a Mott transition as a function of on-site Coulomb repulsion $U$. The repeated solution of the Gutzwiller self-consistency equations would be prohibitively expensive for large-scale MD simulations. We show that machine learning models of the Gutzwiller potential energy can be remarkably accurate. The models, which are trained with $N=33$ atoms, enable highly accurate MD simulations at much larger scales ($N\gtrsim10^{3}$). We invest…
We present a method for calculating the electronic structure of correlated materials based on a truly first-principles LDA+U scheme. Recently we suggested how to calculate U from first-principles, using a method which we named constrained RPA (cRPA). The input is simply the Kohn-Sham eigenfunctions and eigenvalues obtained within the LDA. In our proposed self-consistent LDA+U scheme, we calculate the LDA+U eigenfunctions and eigenvalues and use these to extract U. The updated U is then used in the next iteration to obtain a new set of eigenfunctions and eigenvalues and the iteration is continu…
We present benchmark calculations of the Anderson lattice model based on the recently-developed "ghost Gutzwiller approximation". Our analysis shows that, in some parameters regimes, the predictions of the standard Gutzwiller approximation can be incorrect by orders of magnitude for this model. We show that this is caused by the inability of this method to describe simultaneously the Mott physics and the hybridization between correlated and itinerant degrees of freedom (whose interplay often governs the metal-insulator transition in real materials). Finally, we show that the ghost Gutzwiller a…
The calculation of electronic properties of materials is an important task of solid state theory, albeit particularly difficult if electronic correlations are strong, for example in transition metals, their oxides and in f-electron systems. The standard approach to material calculations, the density functional theory in its local density approximation (LDA), incorporates electronic correlations only very rudimentarily and fails if the correlations are strong. Encouraged by the success of dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) in dealing with strongly correlated model Hamiltonians, physicists from …
We extend our previous approach (Eur. Phys. J. B, \textbf{74}, 63(2010)) to modeling correlated electronic states and the metal-insulator transition by applying the so-called \emph{statistically consistent Gutzwiller approximation} (SGA) to carry out self-consistent calculations of the renormalized single-particle Wannier functions in the correlated state. The transition to the Mott-Hubbard insulating state at temperature T=0 is of weak first order even if antiferromagnetism is disregarded. The magnitude of the introduced self-consistent magnetic correlation field is calculated and shown to le…
Using two approaches to strongly correlated systems, the extremely correlated Fermi liquid theory and the dynamical mean field theory, we compute the transverse transport coefficients, namely the Hall constants $R_H$ and Hall angles $θ_H$, and also the longitudinal and transverse optical response of the $U=\infty$ Hubbard model in the limit of infinite dimensions. We focus on two successive low-temperature regimes, the Gutzwiller correlated Fermi liquid (GCFL) and the Gutzwiller correlated strange metal (GCSM). We find that the Hall angles $\cot θ_H \propto T^2$ in the GCFL regime, on warming …
We propose a new method of solving a class of mean-field (MF) models, which is based on the Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) principle with additional constraints included. Next, we show equivalence of our method when applied to the Gutzwiller approximation (GA), with the mean-field slave-boson (SB) formalism (on the example of the single-band Hubbard model). This equivalence provides thus an alternative justification of the results obtained within the SB approach which, however, contains ad hoc assumptions to position it in agreement with GA. Our approach implies that all predictions of the MF SB met…
We present a consistent way of treating a double counting problem unavoidably arising within the LDA+DMFT combined approach to realistic calculations of electronic structure of strongly correlated systems. The main obstacle here is the absence of systematic (e.g. diagrammatic) way to express LDA (local density approximation) contribution to exchange correlation energy appearing in the density functional theory. It is not clear then, which part of interaction entering DMFT (dynamical mean-field theory) is already taken into account through LDA calculations. Because of that, up to now there is n…
The LDA+DMFT approach merges conventional band structure theory in the local density approximation (LDA) with a state-of-the-art many-body technique, the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). This new computational scheme has recently become a powerful tool for ab initio investigations of real materials with strong electronic correlations. In this paper an introduction to the basic ideas and the set-up of the LDA+DMFT approach is given. Results for the photoemission spectra of the transition metal oxide La_{1-x}Sr_xTiO_3, obtained by solving the DMFT-equations by quantum Monte-Carlo (QMC) simula…
A new scheme of first-principles computation for strongly correlated electron systems is proposed. This scheme starts from the local-density approximation (LDA) at high-energy band structure, while the low-energy effective Hamiltonian is constructed by a downfolding procedure using combinations of the constrained LDA and the GW method. Thus obtained low-energy Hamiltonian is solved by the path-integral renormalization-group method, where spatial and dynamical fluctuations are fully considered. An application to Sr$_2$VO$_4$ shows that the scheme is powerful in agreement with experimental resul…
We investigate the electronic and superconducting properties of a negative-U Hubbard model. For this purpose we evaluate a recently introduced variational theory based on Gutzwiller-correlated BCS wave functions. We find significant differences between our approach and standard BCS theory, especially for the superconducting gap. For small values of $|U|$, we derive analytical expressions for the order parameter and the superconducting gap which we compare to exact results from perturbation theory.
We review the recently proposed extension of the Gutzwiller approximation, M. Schiro' and M. Fabrizio, Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 076401 (2010), designed to describe the out-of-equilibrium time-evolution of a Gutzwiller-type variational wave function for correlated electrons. The method, which is strictly variational in the limit of infinite lattice-coordination, is quite general and flexible, and it is applicable to generic non-equilibrium conditions, even far beyond the linear response regime. As an application, we discuss the quench dynamics of a single-band Hubbard model at half-filling, where …
A novel approach to electronic correlations in magnetic crystals which takes into account a dynamical many-body effects is present. In order to to find a frequency dependence of the electron self energy, an effective quantum-impurity many-particle problem need to be solved within the dynamical mean-field theory. The numerically exact QMC-scheme and the spin-polarized fluctuation exchange approximation are used for the self-consistent solution of this single-site many-particle problem. The calculations of effective exchange interaction parameters based on the realistic electronic structure of c…
We introduce a new type of Gutzwiller variational wavefunction for correlated electrons coupled to phonons, able to treat on equal footing electronic and lattice degrees of freedom. We benchmark the wavefunction in the infinite-$U$ Hubbard-Holstein model away from half-filling on a Bethe lattice, where we can directly compare with exact results by Dynamical Mean-Field Theory. For this model, we find that variational results agree perfectly well with the exact ones. In particular the wavefunction correctly describes the crossover to a heavy polaron gas upon increasing the electron-phonon coupli…
LDA+DMFT is a novel computational technique for ab initio investigations of real materials with strongly correlated electrons, such as transition metals and their oxides. It combines the strength of conventional band structure theory in the local density approximation (LDA) with a modern many-body approach, the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). In the last few years LDA+DMFT has proved to be a powerful tool for the realistic modeling of strongly correlated electronic systems. In this paper the basic ideas and the set-up of the LDA+DMFT(X) approach, where X is the method used to solve the DMF…
An approximate solution scheme, similar to the Gutzwiller approximation, is presented for the Baeriswyl and the Baeriswyl-Gutzwiller variational wavefunctions. The phase diagram of the one-dimensional Hubbard model as a function of interaction strength and particle density is determined. For the Baeriswyl wavefunction a metal-insulator transition is found at half-filling, where the metallic phase ($U<U_c$) corresponds to the Hartree-Fock solution, the insulating phase is one with finite double occupations arising from bound excitons. This transition can be viewed as the "inverse" of the Brinkm…

Attempts to go beyond the local density approximation (LDA) of Density Functional Theory (DFT) have been increasingly based on the incorporation of more realistic Coulomb interactions. In their earliest implementations, methods like LDA+$U$, LDA + DMFT (Dynamical Mean Field Theory), and LDA+Gutzwiller used a simple model interaction $U$. In this article we generalize the solution of the full Coulomb matrix involving $F^{(0)}$ to $F^{(6)}$ parameters, which is usually presented in terms of an $\ell m_\ell$ basis, into a $jm_{j}$ basis of the total angular momentum, where we also include spin-or…

We introduce a scheme to include many-body screening processes explicitly into a set of self-consistent equations for electronic structure calculations using the Gutzwiller approximation. The method is illustrated by the application to a tight-binding model describing the strongly correlated γ-Ce system. With the inclusion of the 5d-electrons into the local Gutzwiller projection subspace, the correct input Coulomb repulsion U_{ff} between the 4f-electrons for γ-Ce in the calculations can be pushed far beyond the usual screened value U_{ff}^{scr} and close to the bare atomic value U_{ff}^{bare}…
We present a Gutzwiller von Neumann dynamics (GvND) method for simulating equilibrium and nonequilibrium phenomena in strongly correlated electron systems. Our approach is a real-space formulation of the time-dependent Gutzwiller approximation method. Applying the GvND method to simulate interaction quenches in the Peierls-Hubbard model, we demonstrate the amplification of initial inhomogeneities, which in turn results in the collapse of quench-induced synchronized oscillation. Moreover, we find a dynamical phase transition separating two quasi-stationary regimes with rather distinct spatial d…
The combination of the local-density approximation (LDA) with the rotationally invariant slave-boson theory (RISB) is used to investigate the realistic correlated electronic structure of Sr$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$. From Wannier-downfolding the low-energy band structure to a three-band model for the Ru($t_{2g}$) states, the interacting problem is solved including intra- and inter-orbital Hubbard terms as well as spin-flip and pair-hopping interactions. Therewith it is possible to obtain valuable insight into the orbital occupations, relevant local spin multiplets and the fermiology with increasing corre…
Recent progress in extremely correlated Fermi liquid theory (ECFL) and dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) enables us to compute in the $d \to \infty$ limit the resistivity of the $t-J$ model after setting $J\to0$. This is also the $U=\infty$ Hubbard model. We study three densities $n=.75,.8,.85$ that correspond to a range between the overdoped and optimally doped Mott insulating state. We delineate four distinct regimes characterized by different behaviors of the resistivity $ρ$. We find at the lowest $T$ a Gutzwiller Correlated Fermi Liquid regime with $ρ\propto T^2$ extending up to an effect…
