We propose that axion-like particles (ALPs) with a two-photon vertex, consistent with all astrophysical and laboratory bounds, may lead to a detectable signature in the spectra of high-energy gamma ray sources. This occurs as a result of gamma rays being converted into ALPs in the magnetic fields of efficient astrophysical accelerators according to the "Hillas criterion", such as jets of active galactic nuclei or hot spots of radio galaxies. The discovery of such an effect is possible by GLAST in the 1-100 GeV range and by ground based gamma ray telescopes in the TeV range.
We investigate the prospects for detecting axion-like particles (ALPs, dubbed as "a") via the decay $Z\rightarrow a f\bar{f}$ at future $Z$ factories. Considering the decay channels $a\rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ and $a\rightarrow b \bar{b}$ , four types of signals $μ^+ μ^- /E$, $b b /E$, $e^+ e^- μ^+ μ^-$ and $e^+ e^- b b$ are explored. We demonstrate that these channels are promising for detecting ALPs at $Z$ factories and obtain the sensitivity bounds on the couplings $g_{aZZ}$ and $g_{aγZ}$.

Axions and axion-like particles (ALPs) are hypothetical particles that occur in extensions of the Standard Model and are candidates for cold dark matter. They could be detected through their oscillations into photons in the presence of external electromagnetic fields. gammaALPs is an open-source python framework that computes the oscillation probability between photons and axions/ALPs. In addition to solving the photon-ALP equations of motion, gammaALPs includes models for magnetic fields in different astrophysical environments such as jets of active galactic nuclei, intra-cluster and intergal…
Dark Matter (DM) may be comprised of axion-like particles (ALPs) with couplings to photons and the standard model fermions. In this paper we study photon signals arising from cosmic ray (CR) electron scattering on background ALPs. For a range of masses we find that these bounds can place competitive new constraints on the ALP-electron coupling, although in many models lifetime constraints may supersede these bounds. In addition to current Fermi constraints, we also consider future e-Astrogram bounds which will have greater sensitivity to ALP-CR induced gamma-rays.
We propose a method for searching dark matter axion in axion-photon conversion. We consider a superconductor of cylindrical shape under strong magnetic field. The dark matter axion generates oscillating electric field which induces oscillating superconducting current in the surface of the superconductor. The current gives rise to dipole radiation with the frequency $m_a/2π$ given by axion mass $m_a$. We show that the radiation flux generated by the current is of the order of $10^{-18}$W under magnetic field $\sim 3$T in the case of radius $\sim 1$cm and length $\sim 10$cm of the cylindrical su…
As a well-motivated dark matter candidate, axions can be detected through the axion-photon resonant conversion in the magnetospheres of magnetic white dwarf stars or neutron stars. In this work, we utilize Omega Centauri, which is the largest globular cluster in the Milky Way and is suggested to be the remnant core of a dwarf galaxy, to probe the axion dark matter through radio signals that originate from all the neutron stars and magnetic white dwarf stars in it. With 100 hours of observation, the combination of SKA phase 1 and LOFAR can effectively probe the parameter space of the axion-phot…
The elusive nature of Dark Matter (DM) remains a mystery far from being solved. A vast effort is dedicated to search for signatures of feeble DM interactions with Standard Model particles. In this work, we explore the signatures of axion DM boosted by interactions with Supernova neutrinos: Neutrino-Boosted Axion DM ($ν$BADM). We focus on $ν$BADM converting into photons in the Galactic magnetic field, generating a peculiar gamma-ray flux. This signal falls in the poorly explored MeV energy range, that will be probed by next generation gamma-ray missions. Once more, astrophysical searches might …
We revise gamma-ray limits on axion-like particles (ALPs) emitted from supernova SN1987A based on Solar Maximum Mission data. We improve and simplify the computation of the expected gamma-ray signal from ALP decays, while also extending it to non-instantaneous ALP emission. For the first time we make use of the temporal information in the data to update the associated ALP-photon coupling limits. For ALP decays, our updated likelihood only mildly affects the limit compared to previous works due to the absorption of gamma rays close to SN1987A. However, for ALP conversions in the Galactic magnet…
The observation of cosmic sub-PeV gamma-rays from the Crab Nebula opens up the possibility of testing cosmic ray photon transparency at the multi-hundred TeV scale. Assuming no deviation from a source gamma-ray emission due to accelerated electron inverse-Compton scattering, higher event energies can extend constraints on the effects of new physics; We consider oscillation between gamma-rays and axions/dark photons, plus attenuation effects from gamma-ray absorption in the case of dark photon dark matter. Combining the recent AS$γ$ and HAWC sub-PeV data with earlier MAGIC and HEGRA data, axion…
