Robinson-Wilczek's recent work shows that, the energy momentum tensor flux required to cancel gravitational anomaly at the event horizon of a Schwarzschild-type black hole has an equivalent form to that of a (1+1)-dimensional blackbody radiation at the Hawking temperature. Motivated by their work, Hawking radiation from the cosmological horizons of the general Schwarzschild-de Sitter and Kerr-de Sitter black holes, has been studied by the method of anomaly cancellation. The result shows that the absorbing gauge current and energy momentum tensor fluxes required to cancel gauge and gravitational anomalies at the cosmological horizon are precisely equal to those of Hawking radiation from it. It should be emphasized that the effective field theory for generic black holes in de Sitter spaces should be formulated within the region between the event horizon (EH) and the cosmological horizon (CH), to integrate out the classically irrelevant ingoing modes at the EH and the classically irrelevant outgoing modes at the CH, respectively.
Robinson-Wilczek's recent work, which treats Hawking radiation as a compensating flux to cancel gravitational anomaly at the horizon of a Schwarzschild-type black hole, is extended to study Hawking radiation of rotating black holes in anti-de Sitter spaces, especially that in dragging coordinate system, via gauge and gravitational anomalies. The results show that in order to restore gauge invariance and general coordinate covariance at the quantum level in the effective field theory, the charge and energy flux by requiring to cancel gauge and gravitational anomalies at the horizon, must have a…
Motivated by the success of the recently proposed method of anomaly cancellation to derive Hawking fluxes from black hole horizons of spacetimes in various dimensions, we have further extended the covariant anomaly cancellation method shortly simplified by Banerjee and Kulkarni to explore the Hawking radiation of the (3+1)-dimensional charged rotating black strings and their higher dimensional extensions in anti-de Sitter spacetimes, whose horizons are not spherical but can be toroidal, cylindrical or planar, according to their global identifications. It should be emphasized that our analysis …
We apply the covariant anomaly cancellation method to compute the Hawking fluxes from the event and cosmic horizons of the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole. The derivation is new from the existing ones as we split the space in three different regions (near to and away from the event and cosmic horizons) and write down the covariant energy-momentum tensor using three step functions which covers the whole region leading elegantly to the conditions required to compute the Hawking fluxes from the event and cosmic horizons.
Generalising the method of Wilczek and collaborators we provide a derivation of Hawking radiation from charged black holes using only covariant gauge and gravitational anomalies. The reliability and universality of the anomaly cancellation approach to Hawking radiation is also discussed.
We introduce a simple coordinate system covering half of de Sitter space. The new coordinates have several attractive properties: the time direction is a Killing vector, the metric is smooth at the horizon, and constant-time slices are just flat Euclidean space. We demonstrate the usefulness of the coordinates by calculating the rate at which particles tunnel across the horizon. When self-gravitation is taken into account, the resulting tunneling rate is only approximately thermal. The effective temperature decreases through the emission of radiation.
We derive Hawking radiation of 5-dimensional black rings from gauge and gravitational anomalies using the method proposed by Robinson and Wilczek. We find as in the black hole case, the problem could reduce to a (1+1) dimensional field theory and the anomalies result in correct Hawking temperature for neutral, dipole and charged black rings.
The quantum tunneling radiation of fermions with arbitrary spin at the event horizon of Kerr-de Sitter black hole is accurately modified by using the dispersion relation proposed in the study of string theory and quantum gravitational theory. The derived tunneling rate and temperature at the black hole horizons are analyzed and studied.
We study the method of calculating the Hawking radiation via gravitational anomalies in gravitational backgrounds of constant negative curvature. We apply the method to topological black holes and also to topological black holes conformally coupled to a scalar field.
We study the scalar radiation emitted by a source orbiting a Schwarzschild--anti--de Sitter black hole in circular geodesics. We obtain the emitted power using quantum field theory in curved spacetimes at tree level with reflective boundary conditions at infinity. We compare our results with the ones obtained in Schwarzschild and Schwarzschild--de Sitter ($Λ> 0$) spacetimes. In the Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime we observe an enhancement of the emitted power associated to the lower multipole modes, when compared with the Schwarzschild case. In contrast, for the Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter …
We study the Hawking radiation from Rotating black holes from gravitational anomalies point of view. First, we show that the scalar field theory near the Kerr black hole horizon can be reduced to the 2-dimensional effective theory. Then, following Robinson and Wilczek, we derive the Hawking flux by requiring the cancellation of gravitational anomalies. We also apply this method to Hawking radiation from higher dimensional Myers-Perry black holes. In the Appendix, we present the trace anomaly derivation of Hawking radiation to argue the validity of the boundary condition at the horizon.
We investigate the quantum radiation emitted by a uniformly accelerated Unruh-DeWitt detector in de Sitter spacetime. We find that there exists a non-vanishing quantum radiation at late times in the radiation zone of the conformally flat coordinates, which cover the region behind the cosmological horizon for the accelerated detector. The theoretical structure of producing the late-time quantum radiation is similar to that of the same model in Minkowski spacetime: it comes from a nonlocal correlation of the quantum field in the Bunch-Davies vacuum state, which can be traced back to the entangle…
We give a higher-spin generalization of the anomaly method for the Hawking radiation from black holes. In the paper arXiv:0710.0453 higher-spin generalizations of the gauge (and gravitational) anomalies in d=2 were obtained. By applying these anomalies to black hole physics, we derive the higher moments of the Hawking fluxes. We also give a higher-spin generalization of the trace anomaly method by Christensen and Fulling.
We calculate the total flux of Hawking radiation from Kerr-(anti)de Sitter black holes by using gravitational anomaly method developed in gr-qc/0502074. We consider the general Kerr-(anti)de Sitter black holes in arbitrary $D$ dimensions with the maximal number [D/2] of independent rotating parameters. We find that the physics near the horizon can be described by an infinite collection of $(1+1)$-dimensional quantum fields coupled to a set of gauge fields with charges proportional to the azimuthal angular momentums $m_i$. With the requirement of anomaly cancellation and regularity at the horiz…
Hawking radiation is obtained from anomalies resulting from a breaking of diffeomorphism symmetry near the event horizon of a black hole. Such anomalies, manifested as a nonconservation of the energy momentum tensor, occur in two different forms -- covariant and consistent. The crucial role of covariant anomalies near the horizon is revealed since this is the {\it only} input required to obtain the Hawking flux, thereby highlighting the universality of this effect. A brief description to apply this method to obtain thermodynamic entities like entropy or temperature is provided.
We study the greybody factor and power spectra of Hawking radiation for the minimally or nonminimally coupled scalar field with exact numerical method in spherically symmetric Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-de Sitter black hole spacetime. The effects of scalar coupling constant, angular momentum number of scalar, spacetime dimension, cosmological constant and Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant on the Hawking radiation are studied in detail. Specifically, the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant always increases the greybody factor in the entire energy regime. Different from the case of Schwarzschild-de Sitter bl…
Applying Parikh's semi-classical tunneling method, we consider Hawking radiation of the charged massive particles as a tunneling process from the Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter black hole with a global monopole. The result shows that the tunneling rate is related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and the radiant spectrum is not a pure thermal one, but is consistent with an underlying unitary theory.
We study gravitational and electromagnetic radiation generated by uniformly accelerated charged black holes in anti-de Sitter spacetime. This is described by the C-metric exact solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations with a negative cosmological constant Lambda. We explicitly find and interpret the pattern of radiation that characterizes the dependence of the fields on a null direction from which the (timelike) conformal infinity is approached. This directional pattern exhibits specific properties which are more complicated if compared with recent analogous results obtained for asymptotic b…
In general, the Gibbons-Hawking temperature based on the Euclidean functional approach shows that de Sitter space in the Bunch-Davies vacuum is globally thermal. In the exactly soluble semiclassical Jackiw-Teitelboim model, we investigate thermal property of de Sitter space by taking into account the quantum back reaction of the geometry. The proper temperature of de Sitter space in the Bunch-Davies vacuum is found to vanish. In case of a certain quantum state breaking the de Sitter symmetry, de Sitter space can be made thermally exited; however, in this case the dilaton singularity cannot be …
We studied the correction of the quantum tunneling radiation of fermions with spin $1/2$ in Kerr Anti-de-Sitter black hole. First, the dynamic equation of spin $1/2$ fermions was corrected using Lorentz's violation theory. Second, the new expressions of the fermions quantum tunneling rate, the Hawking temperature of the black hole and the entropy of the black hole were obtained according to the corrected fermions dynamic equation. At last, some comments are made on the results of our work.
Incorporating Parikh and Wilczek's opinion to the Kerr de-Sitter (KdS) black hole Hawking non-thermal and purely thermal radiations have been investigated using Hamilton-Jacobi method. We have taken the background spacetime of KdS black hole as dynamical, involving the self-gravitation effect of the emitted particles, energy and angular momentum has been taken as conserved and show that the tunneling rate is related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and the derived emission spectrum deviates from the pure thermal spectrum. The explored results gives a correction to the Hawking radiat…
Recent work that treats the Hawking radiation as a semi-classical tunnelling process from the four-dimensional Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstrom black holes is extended to the case of higher dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter black holes. The result shows that the tunnelling rate is related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and the exact radiant spectrum is no longer precisely thermal after considering the black hole background as dynamical and incorporating the self-gravitation effect of the emitted particles when the energy conservation and electric charge conservation are…
We extend the work by S. Iso, H. Umetsu and F. Wilczek [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96 (2006) 151302] to derive the Hawking flux via gauge and gravitational anomalies of a most general two-dimensional non-extremal black hole space-time with the determinant of its diagonal metric differing from the unity ($\sqrt{-g} \neq 1$) and use it to investigate Hawking radiation from the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole with a global monopole by requiring the cancellation of anomalies at the horizon. It is shown that the compensating energy momentum and gauge fluxes required to cancel gravitational and gauge anomalies …
Radiative properties of gravitational and electromagnetic fields generated by uniformly accelerated charged black holes in asymptotically de Sitter spacetime are studied by analyzing the C-metric exact solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations with a positive cosmological constant. Its global structure and physical properties are thoroughly discussed. We explicitly find and describe the specific pattern of radiation which exhibits the dependence of the fields on a null direction along which the (spacelike) conformal infinity is approached. This directional characteristic of radiation suppleme…
In Vaidya-Bonner de Sitter Black hole space-time, the tunneling radiation characteristics of fermions and bosons are corrected by taking Lorentz symmetry breaking theory into account. The corresponding gamma matrices and ether-like field vectors of the black hole are constructed, then the new modified form of Dirac equation for the fermion with spin 1/2 and the new modified form of Klein-Gordon equation for boson in the curved space-time of the black hole are obtained. Through solving the two equations, new and corrected expressions of surface gravity, Hawking temperature and tunneling rate of…
We comment on the consistence of the epsilon anti-symmetric tensor adopted in [R. Banerjee and S. Kulkarni, arXiv:0707.2449] when it is generalized in the general case where $\sqrt{-g} \neq 1$. It is pointed out that the correct non-minimal consistent gauge and gravitational anomalies should by multiplied a factor $\sqrt{-g} \neq 1$. We also sketch the generalization of their work to the $\sqrt{-g} \neq 1$ case.
We show that in order to avoid a breakdown of general covariance at the quantum level the total flux in each outgoing partial wave of a quantum field in a black hole background must be equal to that of a (1+1)-dimensional blackbody at the Hawking temperature.
In this paper, we probe in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black hole and its thermodynamics. We illustrate the three asymptotically 4D EGB spacetime as an asymptotically flat, de Sitter, and Anti-de Sitter. Also, we apply the tunneling of the massless particles from the horizon of 4D EGB gravity and we investigate the correlation between the emission modes and temperature of the horizon. In asymptotically flat spacetime, the existence of the coupling constant alone constructs the regular spacetime, the radiation deviates from the pure thermal, and the temperature of the black hole horizon would be z…
Recently, the relation between Hawking radiation and gravitational anomalies has been used to estimate the flux of Hawking radiation for a large class of black objects. In this paper, we extend the formalism, originally proposed by Robinson and Wilczek, to the Hawking radiation of vector particles (photons). It is explicitly shown, with Hamiltonian formalism, that the theory of an electromagnetic field on d-dimensional spherical black holes reduces to one of an infinite number of massive complex scalar fields on 2-dimensional spacetime, for which the usual anomaly-cancellation method is availa…
We have investigated spin interaction under the collision of Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter black holes. The potential of a spin interaction is dependent on the relative rotating directions of the black holes, and this potential can be released as gravitational radiation under the collision. The radiation depends on the cosmological constant and corresponds to the potential of the spin interaction at a limit where one of the black holes is assumed to have small mass and angular momentum. Then, we have shown, approximately, the overall behaviors of the upper bounds on the radiation using thermodynamics.…
The massive particles tunneling method has been used to investigate the Hawking non-thermal and purely thermal radiations of Schwarzschild Anti-de Sitter (SAdS) black hole. Considering the spacetime background to be dynamical, incorporate the self-gravitation effect of the emitted particles the imaginary part of the action has been derived from Hamilton-Jacobi equation. Using the conservation laws of energy and angular momentum we have showed that the non-thermal and purely thermal tunneling rates are related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and the derived emission spectrum deviate…
We discuss the quantization of linearized gravity in the background de Sitter spacetime using a gauge-invariant formalism to write the perturbed gravitational field in the static patch. This field is quantized after fixing the gauge completely. The response rate of this field to monochromatic multipole sources is then computed in the thermal equilibrium state with the well known Gibbons-Hawking temperature. We compare this response rate with the one obtained in the Bunch-Davies-like vacuum state defined in the Poincaré patch. These response rates are found to be the same as expected. This agre…
Extending gr-qc/0502074, we show that in order to avoid a breakdown of general covariance and gauge invariance at the quantum level the total flux of charge and energy in each outgoing partial wave of a charged quantum field in a Reissner-Nordstrom black hole background must be equal to that of a (1+1) dimensional blackbody at the Hawking temperature with the appropriate chemical potential.
In this note we investigate outcomes of a symplectic formula for the gravitational waves charges in the general relativity linearized around the de Sitter spacetime. We derive their explicit form at {\it scri} in the Bondi frame, compare with the connected Noether expression and analyze their gauge dependence which allows us to fix unambiguously boundary terms. We also discuss minimal requirements needed to impose on initial data to have finite values of charges. Furthermore, we analyze transformation laws of the energy upon the action of the de Sitter group and discuss its physical interpreta…
Over the years, de Sitter spacetime has been a central focus, in studies involving quantum fields, for its importance in the early and late expansion stages of the universe. While de Sitter spacetime closely mimics characteristics of the inflationary and dark energy dominated universe it does not help to understand the radiation and matter dominated expansions. In this review, we revisit some recent works, involving the author, which study gravitational particle creation beyond the de Sitter stage. Specifically, we present novel aspects of particle creation in the radiation dominated universe,…
Hawking radiation can usefully be viewed as a semi-classical tunneling process that originates at the black hole horizon. The same basic premise should apply to de Sitter background radiation, with the cosmological horizon of de Sitter space now playing the featured role. In fact, a recent work [hep-th/0204107] has gone a long way to verifying the validity of this de Sitter-tunneling picture. In the current paper, we extend these prior considerations to arbitrary-dimensional de Sitter space, as well as Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetimes. It is shown that the tunneling formalism naturally censo…
We revisit the Hamiltonian formalism for a massive scalar field and study the particle production in a de Sitter space. In the invariant-operator picture the time-dependent annihilation and creation operators are constructed in terms of a complex solution to the classical equation of motion for the field and the Gaussian wave function for each Fourier mode is found which is an exact solution to the Schrödinger equation. The in-out formalism is reformulated by the annihilation and creation operators and the Gaussian wave functions. The de Sitter radiation from the in-out formalism differs from …
We investigate Hawking radiation in the novel $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity which is recently formulated by Glavan and Lin [Phys. Rev. Lett. 124, 081301 (2020)]. We first find the constraints on $α$ and $Λ$ to retain a dS black hole in the spacetime. Both the greybody factor and the power spectra of the Hawking radiation of the massless scalar are studied for the full range of various parameters including the GB coupling constant $α$, the cosmological constant $Λ$ and the constant related to the scalar $ξ$ numerically. In particular, we find the greybody factor is larger for a negative $α…
Hawking radiation from black hole horizon can be viewed as a quantum tunnelling process, and fermions via tunnelling can successfully recover Hawking temperature. In this paper, considering the tunnelling particles with spin 1/2 (namely, Dirac particles), we further improve Kerner and Man's fermion tunnelling method to study Hawking radiation via tunnelling from rotating black holes in de Sitter spaces, specifically including that from Kerr de Sitter black hole and Kerr-Newman de Sitter black hole. As a result, Hawking temperatures at the event horizon (EH) and the cosmological horizon (CH) ar…
We observe that the equation of motion for a free scalar field in a closed universe with radiation and a positive cosmological constant is given by Lamé's equation. Computing the exact power spectrum of scalar field perturbations, the presence of both curvature and radiation produces a red tilt weakly dependent on the amount of radiation.
We present a complete relativistic analysis for the scalar radiation emitted by a particle in circular orbit around a Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter black hole. If the black hole is large, then the radiation is concentrated in narrow angles- high multipolar distribution- i.e., the radiation is synchrotronic. However, small black holes exhibit a totally different behavior: in the small black hole regime, the radiation is concentrated in low multipoles. There is a transition mass at $M=0.427 R$, where $R$ is the AdS radius. This behavior is new, it is not present in asymptotically flat spacetimes.
We apply the method of Banerjee and Kulkarni (arXiv:0707.2449, [hep-th]) to provide a derivation of Hawking radiation from the GHS (stringy) blackhole which falls in the class of the most general spherically symmetric blackholes ($\sqrt{-g}\neq 1$) and also the non-extremal $D1-D5$ blackhole using only covariant gravitational anomalies.
I derive the Hawking flux from black holes of constant negative curvature and from a black hole of constant negative curvature conformally coupled to a scalar field, using the covariant gravitational anomalies method.
We present a characterization of general gravitational and electromagnetic fields near de Sitter-like conformal infinity which supplements the standard peeling behavior. This is based on an explicit evaluation of the dependence of the radiative component of the fields on the null direction from which infinity is approached. It is shown that the directional pattern of radiation has a universal character that is determined by the algebraic (Petrov) type of the spacetime. Specifically, the radiation field vanishes along directions opposite to principal null directions.
In this study, a scalar field propagating in a higher-dimensional Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter black hole is investigated. Scalar fields are assumed to have non-minimal coupling to the brane or bulk scalar curvature. Five different {definitions} of black hole temperatures are discussed: temperature based on surface gravity, Bousso-Hawking temperature, and three effective temperatures. The greybody factors of minimally and non-minimally coupled scalar fields on the brane and in the bulk are examined under the effect of particle and spacetime properties. The energy emission spectra of black hole…
Recently, Hawking radiation from a Schwarzschild-type black hole via gravitational anomaly at the horizon has been derived by Robinson and Wilczek. Their result shows that, in order to demand general coordinate covariance at the quantum level to hold in the effective theory, the flux of the energy momentum tensor required to cancel gravitational anomaly at the horizon of the black hole, is exactly equal to that of (1+1)-dimensional blackbody radiation at the Hawking temperature. In this paper, we attempt to apply the analysis to derive Hawking radiation from the event horizons of static, spher…
Very recently (by which we mean two days ago), Y. Sekiwa submitted a paper [arXiv:0802.3266] that dismisses some previous calculations of the de Sitter radiative temperature. Significantly, these calculations employed the (so-called) tunneling methodology, which the stated author then goes on to correspondingly revise. After briefly commenting on what the tunneling framework can be claimed to say and what it cannot, we respond to the author's criticisms and proposed revision.
In this paper we obtain the flux of Hawking radiation from Rotating BTZ black holes from gauge and gravitational anomalies point of view. Then we show that the gauge and gravitational anomaly in the BTZ spacetime is cancelled by the total flux of a 2-dimensional blackbody at the Hawking temperature of the spacetime.
We examine the thermodynamic behaviour of charged, asymptotically de Sitter black holes embedded in a finite-radius isothermal cavity, with a Born-Infeld gauge field replacing the ordinary Maxwell field. We find that the non-linearities of Born-Infeld theory lead to the presence of reentrant phase transitions in the canonical ensemble, whose existence and character are determined by the maximal electric field strength of the theory. We also examine the phase structure in the grand canonical ensemble, and demonstrate the presence of a new reentrant phase transition from radiation, to an interme…
Recently, Hawking radiation has been treated, by Robinson and Wilczek, as a compensating flux of the energy momentum tensor required to cancel gavitational anomaly at the event horizon(EH) of a Schwarzschild-type black hole. In this paper, motivated by their work, Hawking radiation from the event horizon(EH) and the de Sitter cosmological horizon(CH) of black holes in de Sitter spaces, specifically including the purely de Sitter black hole, and the static, spherically symmetric Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole as well as the rotating Kerr-de Sitter black hole, has been studied by anomalies. …
We study quantum tunneling for the de Sitter radiation in the planar coordinates and global coordinates, which are nonstationary coordinates and describe the expanding geometry. Using the phase-integral approximation for the Hamilton-Jacobi action in the complex plane of time, we obtain the particle-production rate in both coordinates and derive the additional sinusoidal factor depending on the dimensionality of spacetime and the quantum number for spherical harmonics in the global coordinates. This approach resolves the factor of two problem in the tunneling method.
We explicitly describe the last stages of black hole evaporation in the context of string theory : the combined study of Quantum Field Theory (QFT) and String Theory (ST) in curved backgrounds allows us to go further in the understanding of quantum gravity effects. The string ``analogue model''(or thermo-dynamical approach) is a well suited framework for this purpose. The results also apply to another physically relevant case: de Sitter background. Semiclassical (QFT) and quantum gravity (String) phases or regimes are properly determined (back reaction effects included). The Hawking-Gibbons tem…
A new method has been developed recently to derive Hawking radiations from black holes based on considerations of gravitational and gauge anomalies at the horizon gr-qc/0502074 hep-th/0602146. In this paper, we apply the method to Myers-Perry black holes with multiple angular momenta in various dimensions by using the dimensional reduction technique adopted in the case of four-dimensional rotating black holes hep-th/0606018.
We study the greybody factors of the scalar fields in spherically symmetric Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-de Sitter black holes in higher dimensions. We derive the greybody factors analytically for both minimally and non-minimally coupled scalar fields. Moreover, we discuss the dependence of the greybody factor on various parameters including the angular momentum number, the non-minimally coupling constant, the spacetime dimension, the cosmological constant and the Gauss-Bonnet coefficient in detail. We find that the non-minimal coupling may suppress the Hawking radiation, while the Gauss-Bonnet coupl…
We adopt the covariant anomaly cancellation method as well as the effective action approach to obtain the Hawking radiation from the Reissner-Nordström blackhole with a global monopole falling in the class of the most general spherically symmetric charged blackhole $(\sqrt{-g}\neq1)$, using only covariant boundary condition at the event horizon.
We propose a geometric interpretation for the Stokes phenomenon in de Sitter spacetime that particles are produced in even dimensions but not in odd dimensions. The scattering amplitude for a quantum field between the in-vacuum and the transported one along a closed path in the complex-time plane gives the particle-production rate that explains not only the Boltzmann factor from the simple pole at infinity, corresponding to the cosmological horizon, but also the sinusoidal behavior from simple poles at the north and south poles of the Euclidean geometry. The Stokes phenomenon is a consequence …
We study the classical radiation emitted by free-falling charges in de Sitter spacetime coupled to different kinds of fields. Specifically we consider the cases of the electromagnetic field, linearized gravity and scalar fields with arbitrary mass and curvature coupling. Given an arbitrary set of such charges, there is a generic result for sufficiently late times which corresponds to each charge being surrounded by a field zone with negligible influence from the other charges. Furthermore, we explicitly find a static solution in the static patch adapted to a charge (implying no energy loss by …
