In the first part, in the local non archimedean case, we consider distributions on GL(n+1) which are invariant under the adjoint action of GL(n). We conjecture that such distributions are invariant by transposition. This would imply multiplicity at most one for restrictions from GL(n+1) to GL(n). We reduce ourselves to distributions with "singular" support and then finish the proof for n< 9.
In the second part we show that similar Theorems for orthogonal or unitary groups follow from the case of GL(n)
Let F be a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero. We consider distributions on GL(n+1,F) which are invariant under the adjoint action of GL(n,F). We prove that any such distribution is invariant with respect to transposition. This implies that the restriction to GL(n) of any irreducible smooth representation of GL(n+1) is multiplicity free. Our paper is based on the recent work [RS] of Steve Rallis and Gerard Schiffmann where they made a remarkable progress on this problem. In [RS], they also show that our result implies multiplicity one theorem for restrictions from the orthogona…
We prove the multiplicity one case of Lusztig's conjecture on the irreducible characters of reductive algebraic groups for all fields with characteristic above the Coxeter number.
We present a conjecture on multiplicity of irreducible representations of a subgroup $H$ contained in the irreducible representations of a group $G$, with $G$ and $H$ having the same derived groups. We point out some consequences of the conjecture, and verification of some of the consequences. We give an explicit example of multiplicity $2$ upon restriction, as well as certain theorems in the context of classical groups where the multiplicity is $1$.
We give a complete description of the graded multiplicity space which appears in the Feigin-Loktev fusion product [FL99] of graded Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules for all simple Lie algebras. This construction is used to obtain an upper bound formula for the fusion coefficients in these cases. The formula generalizes the case of g=A_r [AKS06], where the multiplicities are generalized Kostka polynomials [SW99,KS02]. In the case of other Lie algebras, the formula is the the fermionic side of the X=M conjecture [HKO+99]. In the cases where the Kirillov-Reshetikhin conjecture, regarding the decomposi…
Haglund's conjecture states that $\dfrac{\langle J_λ(q,q^k),s_μ\rangle}{(1-q)^{|λ|}} \in \mathbb{Z}_{\geq 0}[q]$ for all partitions $λ,μ$ and all non-negative integers $k$, where $J_λ$ is the integral form Macdonald symmetric function and $s_μ$ is the Schur function. This paper proves Haglund's conjecture in the cases when the pair $(λ,μ)$ satisfies $K_{λ,μ}=1$ or $K_{μ',λ'}=1$ where $K$ denotes the Kostka number. We also obtain some general results about the transition matrix between Macdonald symmetric functions and Schur functions.
In this paper, we propose a conjectural multiplicity formula for general spherical varieties. For all the cases where a multiplicity formula has been proved, including Whittaker model, Gan-Gross-Prasad model, Ginzburg-Rallis model, Galois model and Shalika model, we show that the multiplicity formula in our conjecture matches the multiplicity formula that has been proved. We also give a proof of this multiplicity formula in two new cases.
This paper is based on the observation that dimension of weight spaces of multi-variable Weyl modules depends polynomially on the highest weight (Conjecture 1). We support this conjecture by various explicit answers for up to three variable cases and discuss the underlying combinatorics.
This paper computes the Dirac cohomology $H_D(π)$ of irreducible unitary Harish-Chandra modules $π$ of complex classical groups viewed as real reductive groups. More precisely, unitary representations with nonzero Dirac cohomology are shown to be unitarily induced from unipotent representations. When nonzero, there is a unique, multiplicity free $K-$type in $π$ contributing to $H_D(π)$. This confirms conjectures formulated by the first named author and Pandzic in 2011.
We prove Ibukiyama's conjectures on Siegel modular forms of half-integral weight and of degree 2 by using Arthur's multiplicity formula on the split odd special orthogonal group $\SO_5$ and Gan-Ichino's multiplicity formula on the metaplectic group $\Mp_4$. In the proof, the representation theory of the Jacobi groups also plays an important role.
Following the method developed by Waldspurger and Beuzart-Plessis in their proof of the local Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture, we are able to prove the multiplicity one theorem for the Ginzburg-Rallis model over the Vogan packets in the tempered case. In some cases, we can also relate the multiplicity to the epsilon factor. This is a sequel of our work \cite{Wan15} in which we consider the supercuspidal case.
Following the method developed by Waldspurger and Beuzart-Plessis in their proofs of the local Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture, we are able to prove the geometric side of a local relative trace formula for the Ginzburg-Rallis model. Then by applying such formula, we prove a multiplicity formula of the Ginzburg-Rallis model for the supercuspidal representations. Using that multiplicity formula, we prove the multiplicity one theorem for the Ginzburg-Rallis model over Vogan packets in the supercuspidal case.
Let $E/F$ be a quadratic extension of non archimedean local fields of odd residual characteristic. We prove a conjecture of Prasad and Takloo-Bighash, in the case of cuspidal representations of depth zero of $\mathrm{GL}(2m,F)$. This conjecture characterizes distinction for the pair $(\mathrm{GL}(2m,F),\mathrm{GL}(m,E))$ with respect to a character $μ\circ \mathrm{det}$ of $\mathrm{GL}(m,E)$, in terms of certain conditions on Langlands paremeters, including an epsilon value. We also compute the multiplicity of the involved equivariant linear forms when $E/F$ is unramified, and also when $μ$ is…
We establish an equality between two multiplicities: one in the restriction of tempered representations of a $p$-adic group to its closed subgroup with the same derived group; and one occurring in their corresponding component groups in Langlands dual sides, so-called $\mathcal{S}$-groups, under working hypotheses about the tempered local Langlands conjecture and the internal structure of tempered $L$-packets. This provides a formula of the multiplicity for $p$-adic groups by means of dimensions of irreducible representations of their $\mathcal{S}$-groups.
Let $E/F$ be a quadratic extension of non-archimedean local fields of characteristic 0 and let $G=U(n)$, $H=U(m)$ be unitary groups of hermitian spaces $V$ and $W$. Assume that $V$ contains $W$ and that the orthogonal complement of $W$ is a quasisplit hermitian space (i.e. whose unitary group is quasisplit over $F$). Let $π$ and $σ$ be smooth irreducible representations of $G(F)$ and $H(F)$ respectively. Then Gan, Gross and Prasad have defined a multiplicity $m(π,σ)$ which for $m=n-1$ is just the dimension of $Hom_{H(F)}(π,σ)$. For $π$ and $σ$ tempered, we state and prove an integral formula f…
In this paper, we highlight and state precisely the local Langlands correspondence for quasi-split O_{2n} established by Arthur. We give two applications: Prasad's conjecture and Gross--Prasad conjecture for O_{n}. Also, we discuss the Arthur conjecture for O_{2n}, and establish the Arthur multiplicity formula for O_{2n}.
In this paper, we prove, following earlier work of Waldspurger ([Wa1], [Wa4]), a sort of local relative trace formula which is related to the local Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture for unitary groups over a local field $F$ of characteristic zero. As a consequence, we obtain a geometric formula for certain multiplicities $m(π)$ appearing in this conjecture and deduce from it a weak form of the local Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture (multiplicity one in tempered L-packets). These results were already known over $p$-adic fields and thus are only new when $F=\mathbb{R}$.
