We present a search for the decay B -> tau nu in a 140 fb^-1 data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric B factory. Combinatorial and continuum backgrounds are suppressed by selecting a sample of events with one fully reconstructed B. We find no significant evidence for a signal and set a 90% confidence level upper limit of Br(B -> tau nu) < 2.9 * 10^-4. All results are preliminary.
We report results of a search for tau lepton decays strongly suppressed in the Standard Model based on the world-largest data sample accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The decays include: lepton flavor and lepton number violating tau decays into a lepton (e or mu) and two charged mesons (K or pi) as well as lepton and baryon number violating tau decays into a Lambda and a charged meson (K or pi). The sensitivity to the branching fractions is significantly improved compared to our previous results and reaches O(10^{-8}).
We present a study of the decay tau- -> K_S pi- nu_tau using a 351 fb^-1 data sample collected with the Belle detector. The analysis is based on 53110 lepton-tagged signal events. The measured branching fraction B(tau- -> K_S pi- nu_tau)=(0.404 +- 0.002(stat.) +- 0.013(syst.))% is consistent with the world average value and has better accuracy. An analysis of the K_S pi- invariant mass spectrum reveals contributions from the K*(892)- as well as other states. For the first time the K*(892)- mass and width have been measured in tau decay: M(K*(892)-)=(895.47 +- 0.20(stat.) +- 0.44(syst.) +- 0.59…

A sample of BB-bar pairs are tagged by reconstructing one B meson decaying semileptonically. We detect the B- -> tau- nu_tau-bar candidate in the recoil. We obtain a signal with a significance of 3.8 standard deviations including systematics, and measure the branching fraction to be B(B- -> tau- nu_tau-bar) = 1.65+0.38-0.37(stat)+0.35-0.37(syst))*10^-4. We report on measurements of branching fractions for several hadronic tau decays to final states with kaons, which can be used to determine the strange quark mass and the element |V_us| of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark-mixing matrix. The results are obtained from data collected with the BaBar and Belle detectors at the PEP-II and KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- colliders at SLAC and KEK, respectively, both operating at center-of-mass energies near the Y(4S) resonance.
We present a study of hadronic tau decays, especially decay into three-hadron final states with kaon(s), using more than 500fb^-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The sensitivity to these modes is significantly improved compared to previous experiments.
The decays $\bar{B} \rightarrow D^{(*)} τ^- \barν_τ$ are good probes to new physics beyond the Standard Model. The ratios of branching fractions $R(D^{(*)}) \equiv \mathit{BF}(\bar{B} \rightarrow D^{(*)} τ^- \barν_τ) / \mathit{BF}(\bar{B} \rightarrow D^{(*)} \ell^- \barν_\ell)$ (where $\ell^- = e^-, μ^-$) measured by Belle, BaBar and LHCb show 3.9$σ$ deviation from the SM expectations as of 2015. In 2016, the Belle collaboration has shown two new measurements for the $\bar{B} \rightarrow D^{(*)} τ^- \barν_τ$ decay. These include the first application of the semileptonic tagging to the $R(D^*)$…
We report the recent results of a search for the decay B- --> tau- anti-nu_tau, observations of new resonances X, Y and Z, and the first results from Upsilon(5S) data collected with the Belle detector at KEKB e+e- collider.
The Belle experiment has measured the CKM angle $γ$ in a variety of ways. In this paper, we focused on the recent progress of time-dependent $γ$ analysis and the related measurements in Belle.

We report an observation of the decay B0 -> D*- tau+ nu and a search for the rare decays B -> h(*) nu nubar\ove, where h(*) stands for a light meson. A data sample of 535 million BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider is used. We find a signal with a significance of 5.2 standard deviations on B0 -> D*- tau+ nu and measure the branching fraction to be 2.02 +0.40/-0.37 (stat.) +- 0.37 (syst.)%. No significant signal is observed for B -> h(*) nu nubar decays and we set upper limits on the branching fractions at 90% confidence level. The limits on B0 -> K*0 nu nuba…
We report the measurements of electroweak penguin processes b->d,s gamma and b->sl+l- at the Belle experiment. The analyses are based on 152 million BB-bar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- asymmetric-energy collider. The b->d gamma transition is studied through exclusive decays: B0->rho0 gamma, B0->omega gamma and B+ ->rho+ gamma. We apply fully inclusive and semi-inclusive reconstruction to b->s gamma and b->sl+l- processes, respectively. The results on the exclusive b->d gamma and semi-inclusive b->sl+l- measurements are preliminary.
We determine the b-quark shape function parameters, Lambda^SF and lambda_1^SF using the Belle B->X_s gamma photon energy spectrum. We assume three models for the form of the shape function; Exponential, Gaussian and Roman.

Events are tagged by fully reconstructing one of the B mesons in hadronic modes. We detect the signal with a significance of 4.2 standard deviations including systematics, and measure the branching fraction to be Br(B- --> tau- nu_tau-bar) = (1.06 +0.34-0.28(stat) +0.22-0.25(syst))*10^-4. We report on a search for new resonant states in the process gamma gamma --> D Dbar. A candidate C-even charmonium state is observed in the vicinity of 3.93 GeV/c^2. The production rate and the angular distribution in the gamma gamma center-of-mass frame suggest that this state is the previously unobserved chi'_(c2), the 2^3P_2 charmonium state.
The Belle experiment, running at the KEKB e^+ e^- asymmetric energy collider during the first decade of the century, has recorded 770 fb^-1 of data at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. A combination of recent Belle results obtained with this sample is used to perform a measurement of the CKM angle gamma. We use B^+- -> DK^+- and B^+- -> D^*K^+- decays where the D meson decays into K_S^0pi+pi-, Kpi, KK, pipi, K_S^0 pi^0 and K_S^0 eta final states and D^* decays into Dpi^0 and Dgamma. Belle obtains the most precise gamma measurement to date, gamma = (68^{+15}_{-14}) degree.
Searches for lepton flavor violation in tau decays are unambiguous signatures of new physics. The branching ratios of tau leptons at the level of 10^-10 - 10^-9 can be probed with 50 ab^-1 of electron-positron annihilation data being collected by the Belle II experiment at the world's highest luminosity accelerator, the SuperKEKB, located at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, KEK, in Tsukuba, Japan. Searches with such expected sensitivity will either discover new physics or strongly constrain several new physics models.
A high precision study of the process gamma gamma -> p p-bar has been performed using a data sample of 89/fb collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. The cross section of p p-bar production has been measured at two-photon center-of-mass (c.m.) energies between 2.025 and 4.0 GeV and in the c.m. angular range of |cos(theta^*)|<0.6. Production of gamma gamma -> eta_c -> p p-bar is observed and the product of the two-photon width of the eta_c and its branching ratio to p p-bar is determined.
We report on a search for the production of new resonance states in the process gamma gamma-->D Dbar. A candidate C-even charmonium state is observed in the vicinity of 3.93 GeV/c^2. The production rate and the angular distribution in the gamma gamma center-of-mass frame suggest that this state is the previously unobserved chi_{c2}', the 2 ^3P_2 charmonium state.
We determine the b-quark shape function parameters in the shape function scheme, m_b(SF) and μ_π^2(SF), using the Belle B->X_s gamma photon energy spectrum. We assume three models for the form of the shape function; exponential, gaussian and hyperbolic.
$K^0_SK^0_S$ production in two-photon collisions has been studied using a 397.6 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. For the first time the cross sections are measured in the two-photon center-of-mass energy range between 2.4 GeV and 4.0 GeV and angular range $|\cosθ^*|<0.6$. Combining the results with measurements of $γγ\to K^+K^-$ from Belle, we observe that the cross section ratio $σ(K^0_SK^0_S)/σ(K^+K^-)$ decreases from ~0.13 to ~0.01 with increasing energy. Signals for the $χ_{c0}$ and $χ_{c2}$ charmonium states are also observed.
We have measured the branching fraction of the inclusive radiative B meson decay B --> X(s) gamma to be Br(B->X(s)gamma)=(3.36 +/- 0.53(stat) +/- 0.42(sys) +0.50-0.54(th)) x 10^{-4}. The result is based on a sample of 6.07 x 10^6 BBbar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e^+e^- storage ring.
We discuss the latest results and future prospects of the Belle experiment on the electroweak and radiative processes b --> s ell+ ell-, b --> s gamma and b --> d gamma. In particular, the first measurement of the inclusive rate for B --> X(s) ell+ ell- provides a new constraint on the physics beyond the Standard Model. The yet to be measured decay B --> rho gamma is expected to provide a new constraint on the CKM matrix element |V(td)| in the near future.

New preliminary limits from both experiments for B-->rho gamma and B-->omega gamma, and from BABAR for B --> K nu nu and B --> tau nu are presented. Also summarized from the past year are Belle measurements of B-->Xs l+l- and B0-->K2(1430) gamma, preliminary BABAR measurements of B-->Xs gamma, and preliminary results from BABAR and Belle on B-->K(*)l+l-. No significant deviations from Standard Model predictions have yet been found.
Semileptonic decays of $B$ mesons to the tau lepton, despite of experimental difficulties, are of great importance. In particular they are sensitive probes of models with extended Higgs sectors. The results of studies of semitauonic B decays at Belle are presented.
We review recent measurements of pure neutral final state production, gamma gamma to pi0 pi0 and eta pi0, and observations of new charmoniumlike resonances, X(3915) and X(4350), in the two-photon processes at the Belle experiment.
The $B$-factories provide rich opportunities to search for new phenomena, in $B$, charm, and tau decays. Presented here is a selection of recent results from Belle and Babar.
Today the B-factories BaBar and Belle have accumulated largest samples of tau-tau events and are competing to be called tau-factories. Among the problems to be tested and measurements to be done by BaBar and Belle are check of CP and CPT invariance in tau decays, measurement of strange and non-strange spectral functions, extraction of mass of strange quark and |V_us|, searches for lepton flavor violation processes. In this paper, the latest results in tau physics by these two experiments and measurements to be done within next few years are reviewed.

We present the results of a search for the radiative decay (B -> K eta' gamma) and find evidence for (B^+ -> K^+ eta' gamma) decays at the 3.3 standard deviation level with a partial branching fraction of (3.6 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.4) x 10e-6, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. This measurement is restricted to the region of combined (K eta') invariant mass less than 3.4GeVc^2. A 90% confidence level upper limit of 6.4 x 10e-6 is obtained for the decay (B^0 -> K^0 eta' gamma) in the same (K eta') invariant mass region. These results are obtained from a 605 fb^-1 data sampl…
We present new measurements of CP-violation parameters in B0 -> KsKsKs and Ks pi0 gamma decays based on a sample of 275 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+e- collider. One neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in one of the specified decay channels, and the flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters are obtained from the asymmetries in the distributions of the proper-time intervals between the two B decays. We obtain S_{KsKsKs} = +1.26 +/- 0.68(stat) +/- 0.18(s…
A theoretical description of the differential decay spectrum for the decay tau- -> nu_tau K_S pi-, which is based on the contributing K pi vector and scalar form factors F_+^{K pi}(s) and F_0^{K pi}(s) being calculated in the framework of resonance chiral theory (R$χ$T), additionally imposing constraints from dispersion relations as well as short distance QCD, provides a good representation of a recent measurement of the spectrum by the Belle collaboration. Our fit allows to deduce the total branching fraction B[tau- -> nu_tau K_S pi-] = 0.427 +- 0.024 % by integrating the spectrum, as well as…
Since 1999, the B-factories collaborations BaBar and Belle have accumulated and studied large samples of tau lepton pairs. We summarize in the following the most interesting recent results.

We report on a search for CP violation in tau -> K^0_S pi nu_tau decays using a data sample of 699 fb^{-1} collected in the Belle experiment at the KEKB electron-positron asymmetric-energy collider. The CP asymmetry is measured in four bins of the invariant mass of the K^0_S pi system and found to be compatible with zero with a precision of O(10^{-3}) in each mass bin. Limits for the CP violation parameter Im(eta_S) are given at a 90 % confidence level. These limits are |Im(eta_S)|<0.026 or better, depending on the parameterization used to describe the hadronic form factors and improve upon pr…
We summarise the most recent results of the Belle experiment about flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) radiative and (semi-) leptonic B decays. In particular, we report about the first observation of the decays B->K*l+l-, B->phi K gamma, the inclusive B->Xs l+l-$. We also report about searches for B->l+l- decay and for CP asymmetries in B->K*gamma.
We present an analysis of the Belle measured moments of the lepton energy and hadronic mass spectra in B -> X_c l nu decays and the photon energy spectrum in B -> X_s gamma decays using theoretical expressions derived in the 1S and kinetic schemes. The magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element Vcb, the b-quark mass and other non-perturbative parameters are extracted. In the 1S scheme analysis we find |Vcb|=(41.49 +/- 0.52(fit) +/- 0.20(tau_B)) x 10^-3 and m_b^{1S}=(4.729 +/- 0.048) GeV. In the kinetic scheme, we obtain |Vcb|=(41.93 +/- 0.65(fit) +/- 0.07(alpha_s) +/- 0.63(th)) …
We present the first observation of tau lepton decays to hadronic final states with a phi-meson. This analysis is based on 401 fb^-1 of data accumulated at the Belle experiment. The branching fraction obtained is B(tau- -> phi K- nu) = (4.05 +- 0.25 +- 0.26) x 10^-5.
We perform a measurement of the tau -> l gamma nu anti-nu (l = e, mu) branching fractions for a minimum photon energy of 10 MeV in the tau rest frame, using 431fb^-1 of e^+e^- collisions collected at the center-of-mass energy of the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II storage rings. We find B(tau -> mu gamma nu anti-nu ) = (3.69pm0.03pm0.10)x10^-3, and B(tau -> e gamma nu anti-nu ) = (1.847pm0.015pm0.052)x10^-2, where the first quoted error is statistical, and the second is systematic. These results are substantially more precise than previous measurements.
Searches for lepton-flavor-violating decay of a tau lepton to a lighter mass lepton and a photon have been performed with the entire dataset of (963 +- 7) x 10^6 tau decays collected by the BaBar detector near the Upsilon(4S), Upsilon(3S) and Upsilon(2S) resonances. The searches yield no evidence of signals and we set upper limits on the branching fractions of BR(tau -> e gamma) < 3.3 x 10^-8 and BR(tau -> mu gamma) < 4.4 x 10^-8 at 90% confidence level.
We present a search for lepton-flavor-violating tau decays into three leptons (electrons or muons) using 782 fb^-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No evidence for these decays is observed and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions between 1.5 x 10^-8 and 2.7 x 10^-8.
The BaBar experiment has discovered a narrow state, denoted as D*_{sJ}(2317)+, near 2.32 GeV/c^2 in the D+s pi^0 invariant mass distribution from inclusive $e^{+}e^{-}$ interactions at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The same experiment has hinted the presence of a second new state near 2.46 GeV/c^2 in the D+_s pi^0 gamma mass spectrum. These discoveries have triggered CLEO and Belle experiments in their own search for new states coupled to D+_s meson. They have confirmed the existence of the D*_{sJ}(2317)^+ state and established the evidence for the second state denoted as D*_{sJ}(2458…

The Belle and Babar experiments have measured the branching fractions for B+ -> tau+ nu and Ds+ -> mu+ nu decays. From these measurements one can extract the B+ and Ds+ decay constants, which can be compared to lattice QCD calculations. For the Ds+ decay constant, there is currently a 2.1 sigma difference between the calculated value and the measured value.
