We present a new measurement of the purely leptonic decay B- -> tau- nu_tau-bar with a semileptonic B tagging method, using a data sample containing 657*10^6 BB-bar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+e- collider. A sample of BB-bar pairs are tagged by reconstructing one B meson decaying semileptonically. We detect the B- -> tau- nu_tau-bar candidate in the recoil. We obtain a signal with a significance of 3.8 standard deviations including systematics, and measure the branching fraction to be B(B- -> tau- nu_tau-bar) = 1.65+0.38-0.37(stat)+0.35-0.37(syst))*10^-4. This result confirms the evidence for B- -> tau- nu_tau-bar obtained in the previous Belle measurement with a hadronic B tagging method. The B meson decay constant f_B and constraint on charged Higgs are obtained using the measured branching fraction.
Belle II has a broad $τ$ physics program, in particular in searches for lepton flavour and lepton number violations. Belle II profits from the relatively large $τ$-pair production rate in the low background environment of $e^+e^-$ -collisions at 10.58 GeV. Up to mid-2021 Belle II collected a sample corresponding to $214~\text{fb}^{-1}$ of data. We present a first measurement of the $τ$ mass, the prospects for the $τ$-lifetime measurement, and review the overall $τ$ lepton physics program of Belle II.
The Belle II experiment is an upgrade of the Belle detector and will operate at the SuperKEKB energy-asymmetric $e^+e^-$ collider. The accelerator has already successfully completed the first phase of commissioning and first electron positron-collisions in Belle II were observed in April 2018. The design luminosity of SuperKEKB is 8x10$^{35}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$ and the Belle II experiment aims to record 50 ab$^{-1}$ of data. Belle II has a broad program of $τ$ physics, in particular, precision measurements of Standard Model parameters and searches of lepton flavor and lepton number violations, …

Belle II is an upcoming experiment at the next generation SuperKEKB e+e- collider. It will record about 50 ab-1 of data mostly at the Y(4S) resonance. The high statistics will allow precision measurements for rare decays, which can be then compared with the Standard Model predictions in order to search indirectly for new physics. We present the prospects for rare decay studies at Belle II.
We present a study of Michel parameters in leptonic $τ$ decays using experimental information collected at the Belle detector. Michel parameters are extracted in the unbinned maximum likelihood fit of the $(τ^\mp\to\ell^\mpνν,τ^\pm\toπ^\pmπ^0ν)$ events in the full nine-dimensional phase space. We exploit the spin-spin correlation of tau leptons to extract $ξ_ρξ$ and $ξ_ρξδ$ in addition to the $ρ$ and $η$ parameters.
Semileptonic decays of $B$ mesons that proceed via $b\rightarrow u$ and $b\rightarrow c$ transitions, as well as rare leptonic $B$ decays, are fertile grounds for probing new physics beyond the Standard Model. The Belle II experiment presents as an excellent opportunity to study such decays, and since beginning operation in 2019, Belle II has already recorded half of the data collected by its predecessor and reached an instantaneous luminosity greater than $4\times 10^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$. Belle II expects to explore flavour physics with $B$ and charmed mesons with unprecedented precision, …

The paper discusses new method for electron/pion and muon/pion separation in the Belle II detector at transverse momenta below 0.7 $\mathrm{GeV}/c$, which is essential for efficient measurements of semi-leptonic decays of $B$ mesons with tau lepton in the final state. The method is based on the analysis of patterns in the electromagnetic calorimeter by using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN).
We report a study of $τ$ lepton decays involving $\Ks$ with a 669 fb$^{-1}$ data sample accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The branching fractions have been measured for the $\tauTO \piKs ν_τ$, $\KKs ν_τ$, $\piKspizero ν_τ$, $\KKspizero ν_τ$, $\piKsKs ν_τ$ and $\piKsKspizero ν_τ$ decays. We also provide the unfolded mass spectra for $\tauTO \piKspizero ν_τ$ and $\tauTO \KKspizero ν_τ$.
We report results of a search for tau lepton decays strongly suppressed in the Standard Model based on the world-largest data sample accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The decays include: lepton flavor and lepton number violating tau decays into a lepton (e or mu) and two charged mesons (K or pi) as well as lepton and baryon number violating tau decays into a Lambda and a charged meson (K or pi). The sensitivity to the branching fractions is significantly improved compared to our previous results and reaches O(10^{-8}).
Rare and flavour-changing neutral current decays of the B meson are an important probe in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model. There have recently been several anomalies in rare B decays, and lepton-universality measurements, specifically involving the $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ quark transition. These results tend towards a non-Standard-Model interpretation. The Belle II experiment is a next-generation b physics experiment located at SuperKEKB, an upgraded B factory $e^+e^-$ collider, in Tsukuba, Japan. The first collisions are expected in early 2018 with full physics data expected in …

We report on the recent results of searches for lepton-flavor-violating tau decays as well as lepton-number-violating B decays with the world-highest data samples accumulated at the Belle.
The Belle Collaboration presented three recent Belle analyses: The search for $B\rightarrow lνγ$ ($l = e, μ$) with improved hadronic tagging, the search for $B\rightarrow μν_μ$ with inclusive tagging and the test of lepton universality in $B\rightarrow K^*ll$ ($l = e, μ$) decays.
We review measurements of semileptonic and leptonic charm meson decays performed by the Belle experiment, and we use these results to estimate the sensitivity of the follow-on Belle II experiment to these decays.
We review recent experimental results on Bd and Bs mesons decays by the BaBar and Belle experiments. These include measurements of the color-suppressed decays B0bar to D(*)0h0, h0=pi0, eta, etaprime, omega, observation of the baryonic decay B0bar to Lambdac+ Lambdabar K-, measurements of the charmless decays B to eta h, h=K, pi, B to Kpi and observation of CP eigenstates in the Bs decays: B0s to J/psi f0(980), B0s to J/psi f0(1370) and B0s to J/psi eta. The theoretical implications of these results will be considered.
We report the recent results of a search for lepton-flavor-violating tau decays and a search for CP violation in tau to nu Ks pi using a large data sample accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. The sensitivity to these modes is significantly improved compared to previous experiments.
Searches for lepton flavor violation in tau decays are unambiguous signatures of new physics. The branching ratios of tau leptons at the level of 10^-10 - 10^-9 can be probed with 50 ab^-1 of electron-positron annihilation data being collected by the Belle II experiment at the world's highest luminosity accelerator, the SuperKEKB, located at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, KEK, in Tsukuba, Japan. Searches with such expected sensitivity will either discover new physics or strongly constrain several new physics models.
Using the large data sample accumulated by the Belle experiment at KEKB asymmetry energy $e^+e^-$ Collider, we report the preliminary measurements of the branching fractions of the radiative decays $D^0 \rightarrow Vγ$, where $V$ = $ϕ,\bar{K^*}^0, ρ^0$. This is the first observation of the decay $D^0 \rightarrow ρ^0γ$ and also present the preliminary results of the first measurement of $CP$ asymmetry in these decays. We present the preliminary result of the $CP$ asymmetry of the $D^0 \rightarrow K^0_S K^0_S$ decay, which is consistent with no $CP$ violation and improves the uncertainty with re…
We present measurements of the first to fourth moments of the lepton mass squared $q^2$ of \mbox{$B \to X_c \, \ell\, \bar ν_{\ell}$} decays for $\ell = e, μ$ and with $X_c$ a hadronic system containing a charm quark. These results use a sample of electron-positron collisions at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance corresponding to $62.8 \, \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity and collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020. To identify the $X_c$ system and reconstruct $q^2$, one of the $B$ mesons from an $Υ(4S) \to B \kern 0.18em\overline{\kern -0.18em B}$ decay is fully reconstructed in a h…
Semileptonic decays of $B$ mesons to the tau lepton, despite of experimental difficulties, are of great importance. In particular they are sensitive probes of models with extended Higgs sectors. The results of studies of semitauonic B decays at Belle are presented.
We report the measurements of the leptonic decays B->lnu obtained at the Belle experiment. The results are consistent with the Standard Model expectations, and provide stringent constraints on new physics models including charged Higgs bosons. We also report an outlook of the measurements of B->lnu for the Belle II experiment.
We study charged lepton flavor violation associated with a light leptophilic axion-like particle (ALP), $X$, at the $B$-factory experiment Belle II. We focus on production of the ALP in the tau decays $τ\to X l$ with $l=e,μ$, followed by its decay via $X\to l^- l^+$. The ALP can be either promptly decaying or long-lived. We perform Monte-Carlo simulations, recasting a prompt search at Belle for lepton-flavor-violating $τ$ decays, and propose a displaced-vertex (DV) search. For both types of searches, we derive the Belle~II sensitivity reaches in both the product of branching fractions and the …
We summarize recent results by the BABAR and Belle Collaborations on the search for CP violation and new physics beyond the Standard Model in several rare B meson decays. The measurements exploit the final BABAR and Belle Upsilon(4S) datasets, which consist of approximately 470 and 772 million BBbar pairs, respectively.
We report a measurement of the branching fraction of inclusive semileptonic $B$ meson decays $B\to X_c\ellν\ell$ in $Υ(4S)\to B\bar B$~data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider and corresponding to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Only a charged lepton (electon or muon) is reconstructed and the signal yield is determined from a fit to the lepton momentum distribution in the center-of-mass frame of the colliding beams. Averaging the result in the electron and muon channels, we find ${\cal B}(B\to X_c\ellν_\ell) = (9.75\pm 0.03(\text{st…
The electroweak penguin B decays mediated by $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^- $ transitions are flavour-changing neutral current processes, and are thus sensitive to new physics owing to potential contributions of heavy particles in the quantum loop. Recently, LHCb has obtained interesting results, where the possible hints of lepton family universality violation (LFUV) could be seen. We report a new measurement of the LFUV observable $R_{K}$, the ratio of branching fractions of $B\to Kμ^{+}μ^{-}$ to $B\to Ke^{+}e^{-}$, based on the full data sample recorded by Belle at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance from $e^+e^-…
We review recent results from the BABAR and Belle experiments on rare electroweak B-meson decays, with emphasis on those occurring through flavor changing neutral current interactions of the type b -> s l l. The recent results include measurements of the isospin asymmetry and lepton forward-backward asymmetry in B -> K* l+ l- decays from BABAR, a search for B -> pi l+ l- from Belle, and searches for B \to K(*) nu anti-nu from BABAR. We also briefly review the status of B0 -> l+ l- and B+ -> l+ nu searches.
Tests of lepton flavour universality in charged-current $B$ decays offer an excellent opportunity to test the Standard Model, and show hints of new physics in analyses performed by the LHCb, Belle and BaBar experiments. These proceedings present the results from the LHCb collaboration on measurements of $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ and $\mathcal{R}(J/ψ)$. It also presents the latest semileptonic tag measurement of $\mathcal{R}(D)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ by the Belle collaboration. The latest HFLAV average shows a discrepancy of 3.1$σ$ between the Standard Model predictions and combined measurements of $…
The Belle II experiment is under construction at the KEK laboratory in Japan. Belle II will study e+e- collisions at or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the goal of collecting 50 ab-1 of data, which is a large increase over that recorded by the Belle and BaBar experiments. This data will provide a large sample of charm meson decays, and Belle II will have a very active charm physics program. Here we discuss some highlights of this program, focusing on measurements of mixing, CP violation, and leptonic decays.
We report a measurement of the branching fraction of the semileptonic decay B- -> D0 l- nubar_l (and its charge conjugate) using 62.8/fb of Upsilon(4S) -> B Bbar data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. The neutral charm meson is searched for in the decay mode D0 -> K- pi+ and combined with a properly charged identified lepton (electron or muon) to reconstruct this decay. No reconstruction of the second B meson in the Upsilon(4S) event is performed. We obtain Br( B- -> D0 l- nubar_l ) = (2.29 +/- 0.05(stat) +/- 0.08(syst))%, in agreement with …
