We investigate the transition from second to first order systems. This transforms configuration space into phase space and hence introduces noncommutativity in the former. Quantum mechanically, the transition may be described in terms of spectral flow. Gaps in the energy or mass spectrum may become large which effectively truncates the available state space. Using both operator and path integral languages we explicitly discuss examples in quantum mechanics, (light-front) quantum field theory and string theory.
We study an interacting $λ\,ϕ^4_{\star}$ scalar field defined on Snyder-de Sitter space. Due to the noncommutativity as well as the curvature of this space, the renormalization of the two-point function differs from the commutative case. In particular, we show that the theory in the limit of small curvature and noncommutativity is described by a model similar to the Grosse-Wulkenhaar one. Moreover, very much akin to what happens in the Grosse-Wulkenhaar model, our computation demonstrates that there exists a fixed point in the renormalization group flow of the harmonic and mass terms.
The two-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=4$ superconformal algebra has a free field realization with four bosons and four fermions. There is an automorphism of the algebra called spectral flow. Under spectral flow, the four fermions are transformed together. In this paper, we study {\it partial spectral flow} where only two of the four fermions are transformed. Partial spectral flow is applied to the D1D5 CFT where a marginal deformation moves the CFT away from the free point. The partial spectral flow is broken by the deformation. We show that this effect can be studied due to a transformation of the…
We generalize the spectral-curve construction of moduli spaces of instantons on $\MT{4}$ and $K_3$ to noncommutative geometry. We argue that the spectral-curves should be constructed inside a twisted $\MT{4}$ or $K_3$ that is an elliptic fibration without a section. We demonstrate this explicitly for $T^4$ and to first order in the noncommutativity, for $K_3$. Physically, moduli spaces of noncommutative instantons appear as moduli spaces of theories with $\SUSY{4}$ supersymmetry in 2+1D. The spectral curves are related to Seiberg-Witten curves of theories with $\SUSY{2}$ in 3+1D. In particular…
We provide a novel local definition for spectrally flowed vertex operators in the SL(2,$\mathbb{R}$)-WZW model, generalising the proposal of Maldacena and Ooguri in [arXiv:hep-th/0111180] for the singly-flowed case to all $ω> 1$. This allows us to establish the precise connection between the computation of correlators using the so-called spectral flow operator, and the methods introduced recently by Dei and Eberhardt in [arXiv:2105.12130] based on local Ward identities. We show that the auxiliary variable $y$ used in the latter paper arises naturally from a point-splitting procedure in the spa…
In this paper we investigate spectral flow symmetry in asymptotically flat spacetimes both from a gravity as well as a putative dual quantum field theory perspective. On the gravity side we consider models in Einstein gravity and supergravity as well as their "reloaded" versions, present suitable boundary conditions, determine the respective asymptotic symmetry algebras and the thermal entropy of cosmological solutions in each of these models. On the quantum field theory side we identify the spectral flow symmetry as automorphisms of the underlying symmetry algebra of the theory. Using spectra…
Spectral Flow in Vortex Dynamics of 3He-B and Superconductors
Rev. Lett.,74,750(1995)),从而给出了涡旋动力学中频谱流效应的实验验证。给出了在整个温度范围内三种非耗散力(Magnus力、Iordanskii力和谱流)的一般表达式。
We introduce spectral flow techniques to explain why the Fermi arcs of Weyl semimetals are topologically protected against boundary condition changes and perturbations. We first analyse the topology of a certain universal space of self-adjoint half-line massive Dirac Hamiltonians, and then exploit its non-trivial and homotopy invariant spectral flow structure by pulling it back to generic Weyl semimetal models. The homological perspective of using Dirac strings/Euler chains as global topological invariants of Weyl semimetals/Fermi arcs, is thereby analytically justified.
