The relation between the restricted path integral approach to quantum measurement theory and the commonly accepted von Neumann wavefunction collapse postulate is presented. It is argued that in the limit of impulsive measurements the two approaches lead to the same predictions. The example of repeated impulsive quantum measurements of position performed on a harmonic oscillator is discussed in detail and the quantum nondemolition strategies are recovered in both the approaches.
In quantum information theory, von Neumann entropy plays an important role. The entropies can be obtained analytically only for a few states. In continuous variable system, even evaluating entropy numerically is not an easy task since the dimension is infinite. We develop the perturbation theory systematically for calculating von Neumann entropy of non-degenerate systems as well as degenerate systems. The result turns out to be a practical way of the expansion calculation of von Neumann entropy.
We explore the relation between the von Neumann entropy and the Renyi entropies of integer orders for shift-invariant quasi-free Fermionic lattice systems. We investigate approximating the von Neumann entropy by a combination of integer-order Renyi entropies and give an estimate for the quality of such an approximation.

Our result goes beyond the classical work of tangle, 3-tangle and von Neumann entropy of entanglement for Ac\'ın et al.' Schmidt decomposition (ASD) of three qubits by connecting the tangle, 3-tangle, and von Neumann entropy for ASD with Ac\'ın et al.'s LU invariants. Our method relies on a connection between conditional min-entropy and operator space projective tensor norm for injective von Neumann algebras. We review the famous no-hidden-variables theorem in John von Neumann's 1932 book on the mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics. We describe the notorious gap in von Neumann's argument, pointed out by Grete Hermann in 1935 and, more famously, by John Bell in 1966. We used the von Neumann entropy to study the single and many-particle on-site localizations of stationary states for an anisotropic Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain. With a constructed bounded sequence of on-site energies for single and many-particle systems we demonstrate that the von Neumann entropy approaches zero indicating strong on-site localizations for all states. On the contrary, random on-site energy sequence does not lead to strong on-site confinement of all states. In this paper we describe the structure of all sequential isomorphisms between the sets of von Neumann algebra effects. It turns out that if the underlying algebras have no commutative direct summands, then every sequential isomorphism between the sets of their effects extends to the direct sum of a *-isomorphism and a *-antiisomorphism between the underlying von Neumann algebras.
For von Neumann algebras M, N not isomorphic to C^2 and without type I_2 summands, we show that for an order-isomorphism f:AbSub(M)->AbSub(N) between the posets of abelian von Neumann subalgebras of M and N, there is a unique Jordan *-isomorphism g:M->N with the image g[S] equal to f(S) for each abelian von Neumann subalgebra S of M. The converse also holds. A new form of a binary Darboux transformation is used to generate analytical solutions of a nonlinear Liouville-von Neumann equation. General theory is illustrated by explicit examples.
Quantum bialgebras derivable from Uq(sl2) which contain idempotents and von Neumann regular Cartan-like generators are introduced and investigated. Various types of antipodes (invertible and von Neumann regular) on these bialgebras are constructed, which leads to a Hopf algebra structure and a von Neumann-Hopf algebra structure, respectively.
