In two-mode interferometry, for a given total photon number $N$, entangled Fock state superpositions of the form $(|N-m\rangle_a|m\rangle_b+e^{i (N-2m)ϕ}|m\rangle_a|N-m\rangle_b)/\sqrt{2}$ have been considered for phase estimation. We employ the quantum state of a single photon entangled with the vacuum (|1,0>-|0,1>), generated by a photon incident upon a symmetric beam splitter, to teleport single-mode quantum states of light by means of the Bennett protocol. Teleportation of coherent states results in truncation of their Fock expansion to the first two terms. We review the model of two qubits coupled locally to an environment which consists of nonlocally correlated field modes [Phys. Rev.Lett. 108, 210402 (2012)]. We derive the correct expressions for the reduced dynamics of the two-qubit system and demonstrate that strong nonlocal memory effects are indeed present for suitable initial EPR-type Gaussian environmental states.
Although the Aharonov-Bohm and related effects are familiar in solid state and high energy physics, the nonlocality of these effects has been questioned. Here we show, for the first time, that the Aharonov-Bohm effect has two very different aspects. One aspect is instantaneous and nonlocal; the other aspect, which depends on entanglement, unfolds continuously over time. While local, gauge-invariant variables may occasionally suffice for explaining the continuous aspect, we argue that they cannot explain the instantaneous aspect. Thus the Aharonov-Bohm effect is, in general, nonlocal.

Due to its connection to the diffeomorphism group, nonlinear quantum mechanics may play an important role in quantum geometry. The Doebner-Goldin nonlinearity (arising from representations of the diffeomorphism group) amplifies nonlocal signaling effects under extreme localization, suggesting that even if greatly suppressed at low energies, such effects may be significant at the Planck scale. This offers new perspectives on Planck-scale physics.
In this letter, a nonlocal effect for a bipartite system which is induced by a local cyclic evolution of one of its subsystem is suggested. This effect vanishes when the system is at a disentangled pure state but can be observed for some disentangled mixed states. As a paradigm, we study the effect for the system of two qubits in detail. It is interesting that the effect is directly related to the degree of entanglement for pure state of qubit pairs. Furthermore, we suggest a Bell-type experiment to measure this nonlocal effect for qubit pairs.
The nonlocal and topological nature of the molecular Aharonov-Bohm (MAB) effect is examined for real electronic Hamiltonians. A notion of preferred gauge for MAB is suggested. The MAB effect in the linear + quadratic $E\otimes ε$ Jahn-Teller system is shown to be essentially analogues to an anisotropic Aharonov-Casher effect for an electrically neutral spin$-{1/2}$ particle encircling a certain configuration of lines of charge.
We use a photon-number resolving detector to monitor the photon number distribution of the output of an interferometer, as a function of phase delay. As inputs we use coherent states with mean photon number up to seven. The postselection of a specific Fock (photon-number) state effectively induces high-order optical non-linearities. Following a scheme by Bentley and Boyd [S.J. Bentley and R.W. Boyd, Optics Express 12, 5735 (2004)] we explore this effect to demonstrate interference patterns a factor of five smaller than the Rayleigh limit.
We study analytically the structure of an arbitrary order correlation function for a pair of Fock states and prove without any approximations that in a single measurement of particle positions interference effects must occur as experimentally observed with Bose-Einstein condensates. We also show that the noise level present in the statistics is slightly lower than for a respective measurement of phase states.
By periodically driving a single bosonic Josephson junction (BJJ) with an impurity, a synthetic gauge field is generated in the Fock space of the system. At a critical synthetic gauge flux the ground state undergoes a quantum phase transition which is analogous to the Meissner-Abrikosov-vortex transition found in type-II superconductors with an applied magnetic field. A second quantum phase transition involving attractive interactions between the bosons of the BJJ is shown to enhance the sensitivity of the system to the Meissner-Abrikosov-vortex transition.

We investigate the Unruh-Fulling effect in a class of nonlocal field theories by examining both the number operator and Unruh-DeWitt detector methods.
