We address the question whether identical-particle entanglement is a useful resource for quantum information processing. We answer this question positively by reporting a scheme to create entanglement using semiconductor quantum wells. The Pauli exclusion principle forces quantum correlations between the spins of two independent fermions in the conduction band. Selective electron-hole recombination then transfers this entanglement to the polarization of emitted photons, which can subsequently be used for quantum information tasks.
We propose a parameter estimation protocol for generalized Pauli channels acting on $d$-dimensional Hilbert space. The salient features of the proposed method include product probe states and measurements, the number of measurement configurations linear in $d$, minimal post-processing, and the scaling of the mean square error comparable to that of the entanglement-based parameter estimation scheme for generalized Pauli channels. We also show that while measuring generalized Pauli operators the errors caused by the Pauli noise can be modeled as measurement errors. This makes it possible to util…
We present self-testing protocols to certify the presence of tensor products of Pauli measurements on maximally entangled states of local dimension $2^n$ for $n\in\mathbb{N}$. This provides self-tests of sets of informationally complete measurements in arbitrarily high dimension. We then show that this can be used for the device-independent certification of the entanglement of all bipartite entangled states by exploiting a connection to measurement device-independent entanglement witnesses and quantum networks. This work extends a more compact parallel work on the same subject and provides all…
Characterization of quantum devices received from unknown providers is a significant primary task for any quantum information processing protocol. Self-testing protocols are designed for this purpose of certifying quantum components from the observed statistics under a set of minimal assumptions. Here we propose a self-testing protocol for certifying binary Pauli measurements employing the violation of a Leggett-Garg inequality. The scenario based on temporal correlations does not require entanglement, a costly and fragile resource. Moreover, unlike previously proposed self-testing protocols i…

We analyze the fidelity of the generalized Pauli channels governed by memory kernel master equations. It is shown that, by appropriate engineering of parameters of the corresponding memory kernel, the quantum evolution with non-local noise can have higher fidelity than the corresponding purely Markovian evolution governed by the Markovian semigroup. Similar engineering can substantially influence the evolution of quantum entanglement, entropy, and quantum coherence.
Entanglement is a central concept in quantum information and a key resource for many quantum protocols. In this work we propose and analyze a class of entanglement witnesses that detect the presence of entanglement in subsystems of experimental multi-qubit stabilizer states. The witnesses we propose can be decomposed into sums of Pauli operators and can be efficiently evaluated by either two measurement settings only or at most a number of measurements that only depends on the size of the subsystem of interest. We provide two constructive methods to design the local witness operators, the firs…
We have developed a theory for accessing quantum coherences in mutually unbiased bases associated with generalized Pauli operators in multiphoton multimode linear optics networks (LONs). We show a way to construct complementary Pauli measurements in multiphoton LONs and establish a theory for evaluation of their photonic measurement statistics without dealing with the computational complexity of Boson samplings. This theory extends characterization of complementary properties in single-photon LONs to multiphoton LONs employing convex-roof extension. It allows us to detect quantum properties su…
"What are the consequences ... that Fermi particles cannot get into the same state ... " R. P. Feynman wrote of the Pauli exclusion principle, "In fact, almost all the peculiarities of the material world hinge on this wonderful fact." In 1972 Borland and Dennis showed that there exist powerful constraints beyond the Pauli exclusion principle on the orbital occupations of Fermi particles, providing important restrictions on quantum correlation and entanglement. Here we use computations on quantum computers to experimentally verify the existence of these additional constraints. Quantum many-ferm…

We examine the dynamics of a $(1+1)$-dimensional measurement-only circuit defined by the stabilizers of the [[5,1,3]] quantum error correcting code interrupted by single-qubit Pauli measurements. The code corrects arbitrary single-qubit errors and it stabilizes an area law entangled state with a $D_2 = \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry protected topological (SPT) order, as well as a symmetry breaking (SB) order from a two-fold bulk degeneracy. The Pauli measurements break the topological order and induce a phase transition into a trivial area law phase. Allowing more than one type of …

It is important for performance studies in quantum technologies to analyze quantum circuits in the presence of noise. We introduce an error probability tensor, a tool to track generalized Pauli error statistics of qudits within quantum circuits composed of qudit Clifford gates. Our framework is compatible with qudit stabilizer quantum error-correcting codes. We show how the error probability tensor can be applied in the most general case, and we demonstrate an error analysis of bipartite qudit repeaters with quantum error correction. We provide an exact analytical solution of the error statist…
Quantum computation started to become significant field of studies as it hold great promising towards the upgrade of our current computational power. Studying the evolution of quantum states serves as a good fundamental in understanding quantum information which lead to quantum computation. This was assisted with the respective mathematical tools such as Lie group and Lie algebra. In this study, the Lie algebra of $\mathfrak{su}(8)$ is represented in tensor product between three Pauli matrices. This is done by constructing the generalized Gell-Mann matrices and compared to the Pauli basis. Thi…
