We relate the nonlocal properties of noisy entangled states to Grothendieck's constant, a mathematical constant appearing in Banach space theory. For two-qubit Werner states $ρ^W_p=p \proj{ψ^-}+(1-p){\one}/{4}$, we show that there is a local model for projective measurements if and only if $p \le 1/K_G(3)$, where $K_G(3)$ is Grothendieck's constant of order 3. Known bounds on $K_G(3)$ prove the existence of this model at least for $p \lesssim 0.66$, quite close to the current region of Bell violation, $p \sim 0.71$. We generalize this result to arbitrary quantum states.
In this work we consider bipartite noisy bound entangled states with positive partial transpose, that is, such a state can be written as a convex combination of an edge state and a separable state. In particular, we present schemes to construct distinct classes of noisy bound entangled states which satisfy the range criterion. As a consequence of the present study we also identify noisy bound entangled states which do not satisfy the range criterion. All of the present states are constituted by exploring different types of product bases.
Dynamics of many-qubit systems, that may correspond to computational processing with quantum systems, can be efficiently and generally approximated by a sequence of two- and single-qubit gates. In practical applications, however, a quantum gate prepared as a unitary transformation may appear as a noisy channel and consequently may inhibit quantum advantages. In this work, we apply the scheme of channel discrimination to detect if a quantum gate that is actually realized is unitary or noisy. We show that a two-qubit unitary transformation and its noisy counterpart can be optimally discriminated…
Orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexed entangled state is an important quantum resource for high dimensional quantum information processing. In this paper, we experimentally quantify quantum coherence of OAM multiplexed continuous-variable (CV) entangled state and characterize its evolution in a noisy environment. We show that the quantum coherence of the OAM multiplexed CV entangled state carrying topological charges $l=1$ and $l=2$ are the same as that of the Gaussian mode with $l=0$ in a noisy channel. Furthermore, we show that the quantum coherence of OAM multiplexed entangled state is…
This paper considers a special class of nonlocal games $(G,ψ)$, where $G$ is a two-player one-round game, and $ψ$ is a bipartite state independent of $G$. In the game $(G,ψ)$, the players are allowed to share arbitrarily many copies of $ψ$. The value of the game $(G,ψ)$, denoted by $ω^*(G,ψ)$, is the supremum of the winning probability that the players can achieve with arbitrarily many copies of preshared states $ψ$. For a noisy maximally entangled state $ψ$, a two-player one-round game $G$ and an arbitrarily small precision $ε>0$, this paper proves an upper bound on the number of copies of $ψ…

Experimental demonstration of robust entanglement distribution over reciprocal noisy channels assisted by a counter-propagating classical reference light
Quantum communication is one of the cutting-edge research areas today, where the scheme of Remote State Preparation (RSP) has caught significant attention of researchers. A number of different schemes of RSP have already been proposed so far. We propose here a hierarchical RSP protocol for sending a two-qubit entangled state using a seven-qubit highly entangled state derived from Brown et al. state. We have also studied here the effects of two well known noise models namely amplitude damping (AD) and phase damping (PD) that affect the quantum communication channel used for the protocol. An inv…
Entangled states can help in quantum state discrimination by local operations and classical communication (LOCC). For example, a Bell state is necessary (and sufficient) to perfectly discriminate a set of either three or four Bell states by LOCC. In this paper, we consider the task of LOCC discrimination of the states of noisy Bell ensembles, where a given ensemble consists of the states obtained by mixing the Bell states with an arbitrary two-qubit state with nonzero probabilities. It is proved that a Bell state is required for optimal discrimination by LOCC, even though the ensembles do not …
A comparative study of protocols for secure quantum communication under noisy environment: single-qubit-based protocols versus entangled-state-based protocols
We study the performance and resource usage of the variational quantum factoring (VQF) algorithm for different instance sizes and optimization algorithms. Our simulations show better chance of finding the ground state when using VQE rather than QAOA for optimization. In gradient-based optimization we find that the time required for quantum circuit gradient estimation is a significant problem if VQF is to become competitive with classical factoring algorithms. Further, we compare entangled and non-entangled circuits in VQE optimization and fail to see significant evidence in favour of including…
We have studied carefully the behaviors of entangled qubits on the IBM Rochester with various connectivities and under a "noisy" environment. A phase trajectory analysis based on our measurements of the GHZ-like states is performed. Our results point to an important fact that entangled qubits are "protected" against environmental noise by a scaling property that impacts only the weighting of their amplitudes. The reproducibility of most measurements has been confirmed within a reasonably short gate operation time. But there still are a few combinations of qubits that show significant entanglem…
