We put forward an alternative approach to the SLOCC classification of entanglement states of three-qubit and four-qubit systems. By directly solving matrix equations, we obtain the relations satisfied by the amplitudes of states. The relations are readily tested since in them only addition, subtraction and multiplication occur.
In this paper, we study the stochastic local operation and classical communication (SLOCC) and local unitary (LU) equivalence for multi-qudit states by mode-$n$ matricization of the coefficient tensors. We establish a new scheme of using the CANDECOMP/PARAFAC (CP) decomposition of tensors to find necessary and sufficient conditions between the mode-$n$ unfolding and SLOCC\&LU equivalence for pure multi-qudit states. For multipartite mixed states, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for LU equivalence and necessary condition for SLOCC equivalence.
We study the stochastic local operation and classical communication (SLOCC) equivalence for arbitrary dimensional multipartite quantum states. For multipartite pure states, we present a necessary and sufficient criterion in terms of their coefficient matrices. This condition can be used to classify some SLOCC equivalent quantum states with coefficient matrices having the same rank. For multipartite mixed state, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition by means of the realignment of matrix. Some detailed examples are given to identify the SLOCC equivalence of multipartite quantum states.
A set of necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the equivalence of an arbitrary pure state and a graph state on n qubits under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC), using the stabilizer formalism. Because all stabilizer states are equivalent to a graph state by local unitary transformations, these conditions constitute a classical algorithm for the determination of SLOCC-equivalence of pure states and stabilizer states. This algorithm provides a distinct advantage over the direct solution of the SLOCC-equivalence condition for an unknown invertible local…
Witness operators are a central tool to detect entanglement or to distinguish among the different entanglement classes of multiparticle systems, which can be defined using stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC). We show a one-to-one correspondence between general SLOCC witnesses and a class of entanglement witnesses in an extended Hilbert space. This relation can be used to derive SLOCC witnesses from criteria for full separability of quantum states; moreover, given SLOCC witness can be viewed as entanglement witnesses. As applications of this relation we discuss the c…
In this paper, we study pure state entanglement in systems of dimension $2\otimes m\otimes n$. Two states are considered equivalent if they can be reversibly converted from one to the other with a nonzero probability using only local quantum resources and classical communication (SLOCC). We introduce a connection between entanglement manipulations in these systems and the well-studied theory of matrix pencils. All previous attempts to study general SLOCC equivalence in such systems have relied on somewhat contrived techniques which fail to reveal the elegant structure of the problem that can b…
We study the interconversion of multipartite symmetric $N$-qubit states under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC). We demonstrate that if two symmetric states can be connected with a nonsymmetric invertible local operation (ILO), then they belong necessarily to the separable, W, or GHZ entanglement class, establishing a practical method of discriminating subsets of entanglement classes. Furthermore, we prove that there always exists a symmetric ILO connecting any pair of symmetric $N$-qubit states equivalent under SLOCC, simplifying the requirements for experimental…
Deep connections between invariant theory and entanglement have been known for some time and been the object of intense study. This includes the study of local unitary equivalence of density operators as well as entanglement that can be observed in stochastic local operations assisted by classical communication (SLOCC). An important aspect of both of these areas is the computation of complete sets of invariants polynomials. For local unitary equivalence as well as $n$-qubit SLOCC invariants, complete descriptions of these invariants exist. However, these descriptions give infinite sets; of gre…
A multipartite quantum state is entangled if it is not separable. Quantum entanglement plays a fundamental role in many applications of quantum information theory, such as quantum teleportation. Stochastic local quantum operations and classical communication (SLOCC) cannot essentially change quantum entanglement without destroying it. Therefore, entanglement can be classified by dividing quantum states into equivalence classes, where two states are equivalent if each can be converted into the other by SLOCC. Properties of this classification, especially in the case of non two-dimensional quant…
In our earlier posting "Matrix Pencils and Entanglement Classification", arXiv:0911.1803, we gave a polynomial-time algorithm for deciding if two states in a space of dimension $2\otimes m\otimes n$ are SLOCC equivalent. In this note, we point out that a straightforward modification of the algorithm gives a simple enumeration of all SLOCC equivalence classes in the same space, with the class representatives expressed in the Kronecker canonical normal form of matrix pencils. Thus, two states are equivalent if and only if they have the same canonical form. As an example, we present representativ…
Quantum states that are symmetric with respect to permutations of their subsystems appear in a wide range of physical settings, and they have a variety of promising applications in quantum information science. In this thesis the entanglement of symmetric multipartite states is categorised, with a particular focus on the pure multi-qubit case and the geometric measure of entanglement. An essential tool for this analysis is the Majorana representation, a generalisation of the single-qubit Bloch sphere representation, which allows for a unique representation of symmetric n qubit states by n point…
The hierarchy of nonlocality and entanglement in multipartite systems is one of the fundamental problems in quantum physics. We study this topic in three-qubit systems considering the entanglement classification of stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC). The equivalence under SLOCC divides threequbit states into separable, biseparable, W, and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) classes. The W and GHZ are two subclasses of genuine tripartite entanglement. We adopt the family of GHZ-symmetric states as a research subject, which share the symmetries of the GHZ state and have…
Let E' denote the set of non-normalized two-qutrit entangled states of rank four having positive partial transpose (PPT). We show that the set of SLOCC equivalence classes of states in E', equipped with the quotient topology, is homeomorphic to the quotient R/A_5 of the open rectangular box R in the Euclidean space R^4 by an action of the alternating group A_5. We construct an explicit map omega: Omega -> E', where Omega is the open positive orthant in R^4, whose image meets every SLOCC equivalence class E containeed in E'. Although the intersection of the image of omega and E is not necessari…
It is well known that the number of entanglement classes in SLOCC (stochastic local operations and classical communication) classifications increases with the number of qubits and is already infinite for four qubits. Bearing in mind the rapid evolution of experimental technology, criteria for explicitly discriminating and classifying pure states of four and more qubits are highly desirable and therefore in the focus of intense theoretical research. In this article we develop a general criterion for the discrimination of pure N-partite entangled states in terms of polynomial SL(d,C) invariants.…
The multi-qubit GHZ state possesses tangles with elegant transformation properties under stochastic local operations and classical communication. Since almost all pure 3-qubit states are connected to the GHZ state via SLOCC, we derive a necessary and sufficient achievability inequality on arbitrary 3-qubit tangles, which is a strictly stronger constraint than both the monogamy inequality and the marginal eigenvalue inequality. We then show that entanglement shared with any single party in the n-qubit GHZ SLOCC equivalence class is precisely accounted for by the sum of its k-tangles, recently c…
The study of multipartite entanglement is not only interesting but also important due to its wide application in quantum information processing. However, the complicated structure of the Hilbert space for many parties makes multipartite entanglement extremely complicated. It is then worth studying the structure of the Hilbert space itself. In this work, we provide a way to study the structure of SLOCC-equivalence and to determine the number free parameters for SLOCC-equivalent classes. Additionally, two different entanglement witnesses are introduced. The method matches well the existing resul…
We relate SLOCC equivalence classes of qudit states to moduli spaces of Calabi-Yau manifolds equipped with a collection of line bundles. The cases of 3 qutrits and 4 qubits are also related to noncommutative algebraic geometry.
We analyse entanglement classes for permutation-symmetric states for n qudits (i.e. d-level systems), with respect to local unitary operations (LU-equivalence) and stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC equivalence). In both cases, we show that the search can be restricted to operations where the same local operation acts on all qudits, and we provide an explicit construction for it. Stabilizers of states in the form of one-particle operations preserving permutation symmetry are shown to provide a coarse-grained classification of entanglement classes. We prove that the …
The embedding of the $n$-qubit space into the $n$-fermion space with $2n$ modes is a widely used method in studying various aspects of these systems. This simple mapping raises a crucial question: does the embedding preserve the entanglement structure? It is known that the answer is affirmative for $n=2$ and $n=3$. That is, under either local unitary (LU) operations or with respect to stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC), there is a one-to-one correspondence between the 2- (or 3)-qubit orbits and the 2- (or 3)-fermion orbits with 4 (or 6) modes. However these results…
We provide a systematic classification of multiparticle entanglement in terms of equivalence classes of states under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC). We show that such an SLOCC equivalency class of states is characterized by ratios of homogenous polynomials that are invariant under local action of the special linear group. We then construct the complete set of all such SL-invariant polynomials (SLIPs). Our construction is based on Schur-Weyl duality and applies to any number of qudits in all (finite) dimensions. In addition, we provide an elegant formula for the…
We apply the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm to derive a set of entanglement witnesses (EW) to identify entanglement patterns in families of four-qubit states. The effectiveness of SVM for practical EW implementations stems from the coarse-grained description of families of equivalent entangled quantum states. The equivalence criteria in our work is based on the stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) classification and the description of the four-qubit entangled Werner states. We numerically verify that the SVM approach provides an effective tool to address the …

The aim of this work is to examine the exponential rates at which entanglement distillation occur in three-qubits systems. The approach we will follow to elucidate the entanglement concentration is based on the Schur-Weyl decomposition and the Keyl-Werner theorem. In order to clearly state the main results of this work we will have to introduce the notion of SLOCC equivalence and the covariant algebra which will allow us to classify states in different \emph{entanglement classes}. Our main results comprehend the asymptotic rates for the probability of being in an invariant subspace in the Wedd…
