The unitary braiding operators describing topological entanglements can be viewed as universal quantum gates for quantum computation. With the help of the Brylinskis's theorem, the unitary solutions of the quantum Yang--Baxter equation can be also related to universal quantum gates. This paper derives the unitary solutions of the quantum Yang--Baxter equation via Yang--Baxterization from the solutions of the braided relation. We study Yang--Baxterizations of the non-standard and standard representations of the six-vertex model and the complete solutions of the non-vanishing eight-vertex model. We construct Hamiltonians responsible for the time-evolution of the unitary braiding operators which lead to the Schr{ö}dinger equations.
It is fundamental to view unitary braiding operators describing topological entanglements as universal quantum gates for quantum computation. This paper derives a unitary solution of the Quantum Yang--Baxter equation via Yang--Baxterization and constructs the Hamiltonian responsible for the time-evolution of the unitary braiding operator.
A method of constructing $n^{2}\times n^{2}$ matrix solutions(with $n^{3}$ matrix elements) of Temperley-Lieb algebra relation is presented in this paper. The single loop of these solutions are $d=\sqrt{n}$. Especially, a $9\times9-$matrix solution with single loop d=$\sqrt{3}$ is discussed in detail. An unitary Yang-Baxter $\breve{R}(θ,q_{1},q_{2})$ matrix is obtained via the Yang-Baxterization process. The entanglement property and geometric property (\emph{i.e.} Berry Phase) of this Yang-Baxter system are explored.
By using the quantum Yang-Baxterization approach, we investigate the dynamics of quantum entanglement under the actions of different Hamiltonians on the different two-qubit input states and analyze the effects of the Yang-Baxter operations on it. During any quantum process that takes place in a noisy environment, quantum correlations display behavior that does not increase. We point out that for two-qubit systems subject to actions of different Yang-Baxter operations the loss of correlations can be mitigated by the appropriate choice of the initial states and the Yang-Baxterization process. We…
Recent study suggests that there are natural connections between quantum information theory and the Yang--Baxter equation. In this paper, in terms of the generalized almost-complex structure and with the help of its algebra, we define the generalized Bell matrix to yield all the GHZ states from the product base, prove it to form a unitary braid representation and present a new type of solution of the quantum Yang--Baxter equation. We also study Yang-Baxterization, Hamiltonian, projectors, diagonalization, noncommutative geometry, quantum algebra and FRT dual algebra associated with this genera…
Starting from the Kauffman-Lomonaco braiding matrix transforming the natural basis to Bell states, the spectral parameter describing the entanglement is introduced through Yang-Baxterization. It gives rise to a new type of solutions for Yang-Baxter equation, called the type-II that differs from the familiar solution called type-I of YBE associated with the usual chain models. The Majorana fermionic version of type-II yields the Kitaev Hamiltonian. The introduced $\ell_1$ -norm leads to the maximum of the entanglement by taking the extreme value and shows that it is related to the Wigner's D-fu…
In this paper we describe connections among extraspecial 2-groups, unitary representations of the braid group and multi-qubit braiding quantum gates. We first construct new representations of extraspecial 2-groups. Extending the latter by the symmetric group, we construct new unitary braid representations, which are solutions to generalized Yang-Baxter equations and use them to realize new braiding quantum gates. These gates generate the GHZ (Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger) states, for an arbitrary (particularly an \emph{odd}) number of qubits, from the product basis. We also discuss the Yang-Bax…
The antisymmetric solution of the braided Yang--Baxter equation called the Bell matrix becomes interesting in quantum information theory because it can generate all Bell states from product states. In this paper, we study the quantum algebra through the FRT construction of the Bell matrix. In its four dimensional representations via the coproduct of its two dimensional representations, we find algebraic structures including a composition series and a direct sum of its two dimensional representations to characterize this quantum algebra. We also present the quantum algebra using the FRT constru…
A M-matrix which satisfies the Hecke algebraic relations is presented. Via the Yang-Baxterization approach, we obtain a unitary solution $\breve{R}(θ,φ_{1},φ_{2})$ of Yang-Baxter Equation. It is shown that any pure two-qutrit entangled states can be generated via the universal $\breve{R}$-matrix assisted by local unitary transformations. A Hamiltonian is constructed from the $\breve{R}$-matrix, and Berry phase of the Yang-Baxter system is investigated. Specifically, for $ φ_{1}=φ_{2}$, the Hamiltonian can be represented based on three sets of SU(2) operators, and three oscillator Hamiltonians …
We present a formula for an infinite number of universal quantum logic gates, which are $4$ by $4$ unitary solutions to the Yang-Baxter (Y-B) equation. We obtain this family from a certain representation of the cyclic group of order $n$. We then show that this {\it discrete} family, parametrized by integers $n$, is in fact, a small sub-class of a larger {\it continuous} family, parametrized by real numbers $θ$, of universal quantum gates. We discuss the corresponding Yang-Baxterization and related symmetries in the concomitant Hamiltonian.
In this paper, a (3\times3)-matrix representation of the Birman-Wenzl-Murakami(BWM) algebra has been presented. Based on which, unitary matrices (A(θ,ϕ_1,ϕ_2), B(θ,ϕ_1,ϕ_2)) are generated via the Yang-Baxterization approach. A hamiltonian is constructed from the unitary (B(θ,ϕ)) matrix. We then study the Berry phase of the Yang-Baxter system and find the topological parameter d has relationship with berry phase.
By using the quantum Yang-Baxterization approach to the three different Hamiltonians, we investigate the behavior of the quantum Fisher information (QFI) under the actions of these Hamiltonians on the different two-qubit input states and by estimating the meaningful parameter $φ$. We address the overall estimation properties by evaluating the QFI for the whole system undergone different unitary evolution. The results show that the behavior of the QFI depends on the choice of the initial states. Choosing the optimal input states can improve the precision of quantum parameter estimation. On the …

A unitary operator that satisfies the constant Yang-Baxter equation immediately yields a unitary representation of the braid group B n for every $n \ge 2$. If we view such an operator as a quantum-computational gate, then topological braiding corresponds to a quantum circuit. A basic question is when such a representation affords universal quantum computation. In this work, we show how to classically simulate these circuits when the gate in question belongs to certain families of solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. These include all of the qubit (i.e., $d = 2$) solutions, and some simple fa…
This paper focuses on the study of topological features in teleportation-based quantum computation as well as aims at presenting a detailed review on teleportaiton-based quantum computation (Gottesman and Chuang, Nature 402, 390, 1999). In the extended Temperley-Lieb diagrammatical approach, we clearly show that such topological features bring about the fault-tolerant construction of both universal quantum gates and four-partite entangled states more intuitive and simpler. Furthermore, we describe the Yang--Baxter gate by its extended Temperley-Lieb configuration, and then study teleportation-…

Any solution to the Yang-Baxter equation yields a family of representations of braid groups. Under certain conditions, identified by Turaev, the appropriately normalized trace of these representations yields a link invariant. Any Yang-Baxter solution can be interpreted as a two-qudit quantum gate. Here we show that if this gate is non-entangling, then the resulting invariant of knots is trivial. We thus obtain a general connection between topological entanglement and quantum entanglement, as suggested by Kauffman et al.
Unitary braiding operators can be used as robust entangling quantum gates. We introduce a solution-generating technique to solve the $(d,m,l)$-generalized Yang-Baxter equation, for $m/2\leq l \leq m$, which allows to systematically construct such braiding operators. This is achieved by using partition algebras, a generalization of the Temperley-Lieb algebra encountered in statistical mechanics. We obtain families of unitary and non-unitary braiding operators that generate the full braid group. Explicit examples are given for a 2-, 3-, and 4-qubit system, including the classification of the ent…
For a generic $n$-qubit system, local invariants under the action of $SL(2,\mathbb{C})^{\otimes n}$ characterize non-local properties of entanglement. In general, such properties are not immediately apparent and hard to construct. Here we consider certain two-qubit Yang-Baxter operators, which we dub of the `X-type', and show that their eigenvalues completely determine the non-local properties of the system. Moreover, we apply the Turaev procedure to these operators and obtain their associated link/knot polynomials. We also compute their entangling power and compare it with that of a generic t…
Many well-known and well-studied four by four universal quantum logic gates in the literature are of a specific form, the so called eight-vertex form \eqref{8vertexform} \cite{kaufman etal 05-1,kaufman etal 05-2}, or {\it similar} to it. We present a formalism for universal quantum logic gates of such a form. First, we provide explicit formulas in terms of matrix entries, which are the necessary and sufficient conditions for such a matrix to be a solution to the Yang-Baxter equation \eqref{byb}. Then, combining this with the conditions needed for being unitary \eqref{unitarycond} and being ent…
This paper explores of the role of unitary braiding operators in quantum computing. We show that a single specific solution R (the Bell basis change matrix) of the Yang-Baxter Equation is a universal gate for quantum computing, in the presence of local unitary transformations. We show that this same R generates a new non-trivial invariant of braids, knots, and links. Other solutions of the Yang-Baxter Equation are also shown to be universal for quantum computation. The paper discusses these results in the context of comparing quantum and topological points of view. In particular, we discuss qu…

Higher braiding gates, a new kind of quantum gate, are introduced. These are matrix solutions of the polyadic braid equations (which differ from the generalized Yang-Baxter equations). Such gates support a special kind of multi-qubit entanglement which can speed up key distribution and accelerate the execution of algorithms. Ternary braiding gates acting on three qubit states are studied in detail. We also consider exotic non-invertible gates which can be related to qubit loss, and define partial identities (which can be orthogonal), partial unitarity, and partially bounded operators (which ca…
In this paper, we investigate the relationship of quantum teleportation in quantum information science and the Birman-Murakami-Wenzl (BMW) algebra in low-dimensional topology. For simplicity, we focus on the two spin-1/2 representation of the BMW algebra, which is generated by both the Temperley-Lieb projector and the Yang-Baxter gate. We describe quantum teleportation using the Temperley-Lieb projector and the Yang-Baxter gate, respectively, and study teleportation-based quantum computation using the Yang-Baxter gate. On the other hand, we exploit the extended Temperley-Lieb diagrammatical ap…
Integrable quantum computation is defined as quantum computing via the integrable condition, in which two-qubit gates are either nontrivial unitary solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation or the Swap gate (permutation). To make the definition clear, in this article, we explore the physics underlying the quantum circuit model, and then present a unified description on both quantum computing via the Bethe ansatz and quantum computing via the Yang--Baxter equation.
We present an overview of a programme to understand the low-energy physics of quantum Yang-Mills theory from a quantum-information perspective. Our setting is that of the hamiltonian formulation of pure Yang-Mills theory in the temporal gauge on the lattice. Firstly, inspired by recent constructions for $\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$ lattice gauge theory, in particular, Kitaev's toric code, we describe the gauge-invariant sector of hilbert space by introducing a primitive quantum gate: the quantum parallel transporter. We then develop a nonabelian generalisation of laplace interpolation to present a…
The Yang-Baxter equation is an important tool in theoretical physics, with many applications in different domains that span from condensed matter to string theory. Recently, the interest on the equation has increased due to its connection to quantum information processing. It has been shown that the Yang-Baxter equation is closely related to quantum entanglement and quantum computation. Therefore, owing to the broad relevance of this equation, besides theoretical studies, it also became significant to pursue its experimental implementation. Here, we show an experimental realization of the Yang…
Important developments in fault-tolerant quantum computation using the braiding of anyons have placed the theory of braid groups at the very foundation of topological quantum computing. Furthermore, the realization by Kauffman and Lomonaco that a specific braiding operator from the solution of the Yang-Baxter equation, namely the Bell matrix, is universal implies that in principle all quantum gates can be constructed from braiding operators together with single qubit gates. In this paper we present a new class of braiding operators from the Temperley-Lieb algebra that generalizes the Bell matr…

Braid theories are applied to quantum computation processes, where to each crossing in the Braid diagram a unitary Yang-Baxter operator R is associated, representing either a Braiding matrix or a universal quantum gate. By operating with Braid operators on the computational basis of n-QUBITS states, orthonormal entangled states are obtained, referred here as general Bell states. The 3-QUBITS Bell states are explicitly developed and the present methods are generalized to any n-QUBITS system. The quantum properties of the general Bell states are analyzed and these properties are related to concu…
We recognize quantum circuit model of computation as factorisable scattering model and propose that a quantum computer is associated with a quantum many-body system solved by the Bethe ansatz. As an typical example to support our perspectives on quantum computation, we study quantum computing in one-dimensional nonrelativistic system with delta-function interaction, where the two-body scattering matrix satisfies the factorisation equation (the quantum Yang--Baxter equation) and acts as a parametric two-body quantum gate. We conclude by comparing quantum computing via the factorisable scatterin…
We consider one dimensional quantum circuits of the brickwork type, where the fundamental quantum gate is dual unitary. Such models are solvable: the dynamical correlation functions of the infinite temperature ensemble can be computed exactly. We review various existing constructions for dual unitary gates and we supplement them with new ideas in a number of cases. We discuss connections with various topics in physics and mathematics, including quantum information theory, tensor networks for the AdS/CFT correspondence (holographic error correcting codes), classical combinatorial designs (ortho…
We consider a unitary circuit where the underlying gates are chosen to be R-matrices satisfying the Yang-Baxter equation and correlation functions can be expressed through a transfer matrix formalism. These transfer matrices are no longer Hermitian and differ from the ones guaranteeing local conservation laws, but remain mutually commuting at different values of the spectral parameter defining the circuit. Exact eigenstates can still be constructed as a Bethe ansatz, but while these transfer matrices are diagonalizable in the inhomogeneous case, the homogeneous limit corresponds to an exceptio…
