A system consisting of two neutral spin 1/2 particles is analyzed for two magnetic field perturbations: 1) an inhomogeneous magnetic field over all space, and 2) external fields over a half space containing only one of the particles. The field is chosen to point from one particle to the other, which results in essentially a one-dimensional problem. A number of interesting features are revealed for the first case: the singlet, which has zero potential energy in the unperturbed case, remains unstable in the perturbing field. The spin zero component of the triplet evolves into a bound state with a double well potential, with the possibility of tunneling. Superposition states can be constructed which oscillate between entangled and unentangled states. For the second case, we show that changes in the magnetic field around one particle affect measurements of the spin of the entangled particle not in the magnetic field nonlocally. By using protective measurements, we show it is possible in principle to establish a nonlocal interaction using the two particles, provided the dipole-dipole potential energy does not vanish and is comparable to the potential energy of the particle in the external field.
We simulate magnetic resonance force microscopy measurements of an entangled spin state. One of the entangled spins drives the resonant cantilever vibrations, while the other remote spin does not interact directly with the quasiclassical cantilever. The Schrödinger cat state of the cantilever reveals two possible outcomes of the measurement for both entangled spins.
Normally, sources of entangled pairs generate several species of them. This work proposes a characterization algorithm for relatively general bipartite entangled states, generating several standard Bell states with controlled population as output.
In this thesis, we study about three subjects 1- Classical simulation of two spin-$s$ singlet correlations for all $s$ involving spin measurements, 2- Quantum correlations in successive single spin measurements, 3- Non locality without inequality for almost all two-qubit entangled states based on Cabello's non locality argument.
We prove that a pure entangled state of two subsystems with equal spin is equivalent to a two-mode spin-squeezed state under local operations except for a set of bipartite states with measure zero, and we provide a counterexample to the generalization of this result to two subsystems of unequal spin.
The generation and storage of entangled photons play important roles in quantum information technique. Spontaneous Raman scattering (SRS) in atomic ensembles provides a promising method to generate entangled photons capable of storage. In the past experiments, a spin-wave-photon entangled state is produced via SRS in an atomic ensemble, with which a pair of entangled photons is obtained. Here, we report a scheme of simultaneously generating two spin-wave-photon entangled states in an atomic ensemble by collecting Stokes photons at two different directions. Based on the obtained two atom-photon…
he multiqubit entangled states are coherently controlled in the quantum spin systems composed of $N+1$ interacting antiferromagnetic molecular rings. The tunable intermolecular couplings arise from the local exchange interactions between electron spins of $N$ circumjacent magnets and those of one central molecular ring. The quantum dynamics of such system is analytically deduced by the effective spin hamiltonian with anisotropic Heisenberg couplings. It is found that entangled $W$ states can be generated with a high precision under the circumstance of quantum fluctuations. The multiqubit entan…
We have studied here the influence of the Berry phase generated due to a cyclic evolution of an entangled state of two spin 1/2 particles. It is shown that the measure of formation of entanglement is related to the cyclic geometric phase of the individual spins. \\
We study the formation of an entangled state in a one-dimensional chain of three nuclear spins system which interact weakly through the Ising type of interaction and taking into account first and second neighbor interactions. We can get this entangled state using two pulses ($π/2$ and $π$ pulses), and we study the efficiency of getting this entangled state as a function of the ratio of the second neighbor interaction coupling constant to the first neighbor interaction coupling constant ($J'/J$). We found that for $J'/J\ge 0.04$, the entangled state is well defined.
We show how defects in a spin chain described by the XXZ model may be used to generate entangled states, such as Bell and W states, and how to maintain them with high fidelity. In the presence of several excitations, we also discuss how the anisotropy of the system may be combined with defects to effectively assist in the creation of the desired states.
When dealing with macroscopic objects one usually observes quasiclassical phenomena, which can be described in terms of quasiclassical (or classical) equations of motion. Recent development of the theory of quantum computation is based on implementation of the entangled states which do not have a classical analogy. Using a simple example of a paramagnetic spin system we show that the entangled states can be detected in standard macroscopic experiments as a sharp deviation from quasiclassical motion.
By going beyond Hubbard Hamiltonian we reflected correlation effects accurately in the wavefunctions of H2. Using ab initio e-e interaction parameters resulted maximally entangled ground and third excited states. We assigned this maximally entangled character to the nonmagnetic (S=0) property of these states and also the minimally entangled character of the first excited states to its magnetic property. By switching on a magnetic field an entangled state with Sz = 0 can be extracted from a minimally entangled degenerate magnetic state. We suggest that presence of a moderate correlated system a…
Multi-photon entangled states are a crucial resource for many applications in quantum information science. Semiconductor quantum dots offer a promising route to generate such states by mediating photon-photon correlations via a confined electron spin, but dephasing caused by the host nuclear spin environment typically limits coherence (and hence entanglement) between photons to the spin $T_2^*$ time of a few nanoseconds. We propose a protocol for the deterministic generation of multi-photon entangled states that is inherently robust against the dominating slow nuclear spin environment fluctuat…
We discuss details of the preparation and detection of entangled electron-nuclear spin states in 15N:C60 together with a quantitative evaluation of the complete density matrix. All four Bell states of a two qubit subsystem were analyzed. In addition we find a quantum critical temperature of Tq = 7.73 K for this system at an electron spin resonance frequency of 95 GHz.
We investigate the systematic use of the Schwinger representation, by virtue of which two boson fields are equivalent to an effective spin, for casting multimode squeezed states into multipartite spin entangled states. The motivation for this endeavor is the following established fact: finitely squeezed, two-mode entangled states can be recast into maximally entangled bipartite spin states, irrespective of their level of squeezing (in the lossless case). This work explores the generalization of this interesting property to multipartite entanglement. While we found that the generalization of mu…
The possibility of generating a multi-hops network between different entangled nodes (qubits) via spin Dipolar interaction is examined. The negativity, tangle and the non-local coherent advantage are used as quantifiers of the generated quantum correlations. The phenomena of the sudden death/birth is displayed for the entangled two nodes, while the sudden changes phenomena (increasing/ decreasing) is depicted for all entangled three nodes. The amount of correlations between the different nodes depend on the initial network settings, where the largest amount is predicted if the network is initi…
The degree of entanglement between two spins may change due to interaction. About this we find that a wrong result in a recent work by Ge and Wadati [Phys. Rev. A {\bf72}, 052101(2005)] which breach the basic principle.
We demonstrate the first experimental violation of a spin-1 Bell inequality. The spin-1 inequality is a calculation based on the Clauser, Horne, Shimony and Holt formalism. For entangled spin-1 particles the maximum quantum mechanical prediction is 2.552 as opposed to a maximum of 2, predicted using local hidden variables. We obtained an experimental value of 2.27 $\pm 0.02$ using the four-photon state generated by pulsed, type-II, stimulated parametric down-conversion. This is a violation of the spin-1 Bell inequality by more than 13 standard deviations.
Entangled solitons construction being introduced in the nonlinear spinor field model, the Einstein|Podolsky|Rosen (EPR) spin correlation is calculated and shown to coincide with the quantum mechanical one for the 1/2-spin particles.
This paper proposes a generalized Bell-like inequality (GBI) for multiparticle entangled Schrödinger-cat--states of arbitrary spin-$s$. Based on quantum probability statistics the GBI and violation are formulated in an unified manner with the help of state density operator, which can be separated to local and non-local parts. The local part gives rise to the inequality, while the non-local part is responsible for the violation. The GBI is not violated at all by quantum average except the spin-$1/2$ entangled states. If the measuring outcomes are restricted in the subspace of spin coherent stat…
The path-spin entangled state of a single spin-1/2 particle is considered which is generated by using a beam-spitter and a spin-flipper. Using this hybrid entanglement at the level of a single particle as a resource, we formulate a protocol for transferring of the state of an unknown qubit to a distant location. Our scheme is implemented by a sequence of unitary operations along with suitable spin-measurements, as well as by using classical communication between the two spatially separated parties. This protocol, thus, demonstrates the possibility of using intraparticle entanglement as a physi…
Single spin detection is one of the important tasks in the field of quantum metrology. Many experiments about the single spin detection has been performed. However, due to the weak magnetic fields from the single spin, a long measurement time is required to achieve a reasonably high signal-to-noise ratio. Here, we propose an alternative way to realize rapid and accurate single spin detection with entangled states. While it is known that entanglement can improve the sensitivity to measure globally applied magnetic fields, we investigate a strategy to use the entanglement for detecting spatially…
Bell inequalities (BIs) derived in terms of quantum probability statistics are extended to general bipartite-entangled states of arbitrary spins with parallel polarization. The original formula of Bell for the two-spin singlet is slightly modified in the parallel configuration, while, the inequality for- mulated by Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt remains not changed. The violation of BIs indeed resulted from the quantum non-local correlation for spin-1=2 case. However, the inequalities are always satisfied for the spin-1 entangled states regardless of parallel or antiparallel polarizations of two s…
We present a novel method for quantum tomography of multi-qubit states. We apply the method to spin-multi-photon states, which we produce by periodic excitation of a semiconductor quantum-dot- confined spin every 1/4 of its coherent precession period. These timed excitations lead to the deterministic generation of strings of entangled photons in a cluster state. We show that our method can be used for characterizing the periodic process map, which produces the photonic cluster. From the measured process map, we quantify the robustness of the entanglement in the cluster. The 3-fold enhanced gen…
We introduce a spin-orbital entangled (SOE) resonating valence bond (RVB) state on a square lattice of spins-$\frac12$ and orbitals represented by pseudospins-$\frac12$. Like the standard RVB state, it is a superposition of nearest-neighbor hard-core coverings of the lattice by spin singlets, but adjacent singlets are favoured to have perpendicular orientations and, more importantly, an orientation of each singlet is entangled with orbitals' state on its two lattice sites. The SOE-RVB state can be represented by a projected entangled pair state (PEPS) with a bond dimension $D=4$. This represen…
We studied the entangled state for a one-dimensional $S=1/2$ antiferromagnetic quantum spin chain in a transverse field. We calculate the ground state using the density matrix renormalization group and discuss how the entangled state changes around a quantum phase transition (QPT) point. By analyzing concurrence $C(ρ)$ for two-qubit density matrix $ρ$ after the Lewenstein-Sanpera decomposition, $ρ=Λρ_s + (1-Λ) ρ_e $, where $ρ_s$ is a separable density matrix and $ρ_e$ is a pure entangled state obtained by a linear combination of Bell states, we find singular behaviors both in $C(ρ_e)$ and $1-Λ…
Quantum spin chains may be used to transfer quantum states between elements of a quantum information processing device. A scheme discovered recently \cite{BFR+12} was shown to have favorable transfer properties for ingle-qubit states even in the presence of built-in static disorder caused by manufacturing errors. We extend that scheme in a way suggested already in \cite{BFR+12} and study the transfer of the four Bell states which form a maximally entangled basis in the two-qubit Hilbert space. We show that perfect transfer of all four Bell states separately and of arbitrary linear combinations…
We construct an entangled quantum Otto engine based on spin-1/2 systems undergoing Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interaction within a varying magnetic field. We investigate the influence of the DM interaction on basic thermodynamic quantities, including heat transfer, work done, and efficiency and find that the DM interaction importantly influences the engine's thermodynamics. We obtain an expression for engine efficiency, finding it to yield the same efficiency for antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic coupling. A new upper bound, nontrivially consistent with the second law of thermodynamics, is de…
We investigate how relativity influences the spin correlation of entangled fermions measured by moving detectors. In particular, we show that the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt Bell inequality is not violated by quantum mechanics when the left and right spin detectors move fast enough.
We consider the use of N spin-1/2 particles for indicating a direction in space. If N>2, their optimal state is entangled. For large N, the mean square error decreases as N^{-2} (rather than N^{-1} for parallel spins).
We consider the optical generation and verification of entanglement in atomic ensembles under non-uniform interaction between the ensemble and an optical mode. We show that for a wide range of parameters a system of non-uniformly coupled atomic spins can be described as an ensemble of uniformly coupled spins with a reduced effective atom-light coupling and a reduced effective atom number, with a reduction factor of order unity given by the ensemble-mode geometry. This description is valid even for complex entangled states with arbitrary phase-space distribution functions as long as the detecti…
We show that a large entangled current can be produced from a very simple passive device: a cluster of three resonant quantum dots, tunnel coupled to one input lead and two output leads. The device can function in a `clean' mode, when almost all emitted electrons are paired in Bell states, or a `dirty' mode with a far higher emission rate but a significant portion of non-entangled electrons. Subsequent charge detection can enhance performance by identifying the pairs that are most likely to be entangled. The device is robust to specific choice of system parameters and therefore lends itself to…
Maintaining coherence of a qubit is of vital importance for realizing a large-scale quantum computer in practice. In this work, we study the central spin decoherence problem in the $XXX$ central spin model (CSM) and focus on the quantum states with different initial entanglement, namely intra-bath entanglement or system-bath entanglement. We analytically obtain their evolutions of fidelity, entanglement, and quantum coherence. When the initial bath spins constitute an $N$-particle entangled state (the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-bath or the $W$-bath), the leading amplitudes of their fidelity e…
Entanglement constitutes a main feature that distinguishes quantum from classical physics and is a key resource of quantum technologies. Here we show, however, that entanglement may also serve as the essential ingredient for the emergence of classical behavior in a composite nonlinear radiating system. We consider the radiation from a macroscopic spin emitter, such as the collective radiation from an atomic ensemble. We introduce a new class of macroscopic spin states, the coherently radiating spin states (CRSS), defined as the asymptotic eigenstates of the SU(2) lowering operator. We find tha…
The XX model with uniform couplings represents the most natural choice for quantum state transfer through spin chains. Given that it has long been established that single-qubit states cannot be transferred with perfect fidelity in this model, the notion of pretty good state transfer has been recently introduced as a relaxation of the constraints on fidelity. In this paper, we study the transfer of multi-qubit entangled and unentangled states through unmodulated spin chains, and we prove that it is possible to have pretty good state transfer of any multi-particle state. This significantly gener…
We construct an entangled quantum heat engine (EQHE) based on two two-spin systems with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) anisotropic antisymmetric interaction. By applying the explanations of heat transferred and work performed at the quantum level in Kieu's work [PRL, 93, 140403 (2004)], the basic thermodynamic quantities, i.e., heat transferred, net work done in a cycle and efficiency of EQHE are investigated in terms of DM interaction and concurrence. The validity of the second law of thermodynamics is confirmed in the entangled system. It is found that there is a same efficiency for both antiferr…
In analogy with the spin-squeezing inequality of Wang and Sanders [Physical Review A 68, 012101 (2003)], we find inequalities describing macroscopic polarization correlations that are obeyed by all classical fields, and whose violation implies entanglement of the photons that make up the optical beam. We consider a realistic and exactly-solvable experimental scenario employing polarization- squeezed light from an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) and find that any two photons separated by less than the OPO coherence time are polarization entangled. The polarization entanglement is robust aga…
Based on electron spins in semiconductor quantum dots as qubits, a new quantum controlled-NOT(CNOT) gate is constructed in solid nanostructure without resorting to spin-spin interactions. Single electron tunneling technology and coherent quantum-dot cellular automata architecture are used to generate an ancillary charge entangled state. Using the ancillary charge entangled state as an intermediate state, we obtain a spin entangled state and design a CNOT gate by using only single spin rotations.
The Lindblad generators of the master equation define which kind of decoherence happens in an open quantum system. We are working with a two qubit system and choose the generators to be projection operators on the eigenstates of the system and unitary bilocal rotations of them. The resulting decoherence modes are studied in detail. Besides the general solutions we investigate the special case of maximally entangled states - the Bell singlet states. The results are depicted in the so-called spin geometry picture which allows to illustrate the evolution of the (nonlocal) correlations stored in a…
In this Letter we show that in relativistic regime maximally entangled state of two spin-1/2 particles not only gives maximal violation of the Bell-CHSH inequality but also gives the largest violation attainable for any pairs of four spin observables that are noncommuting for both systems. Also we extend our results to three spin-1/2 particles. We obtain the largest eigenvalue of Bell operator and show that this value is equal to expectation value of Bell operator on GHZ state.
Kar's recent proof showing that a maximally entangled state of two spin-1/2 particles gives the largest violation of a Bell inequality is extended to N spin-1/2 particles (with N greater than or equal to 3). In particular, it is shown that all the states yielding a direct contradiction with the assumption of local realism do generally consist of a superposition of maximally entangled states.
Even and odd vector modes in optical fibers are represented with linear combinations of orbital angular momentum modes, and considered as single-photon spin-orbit entangled states. It renders generating such states with fiber structures possible.
We show that the method of stochastic reduction of linear superpositions can be applied to the process of disentanglement for the spin-0 state of two spin-1/2 particles. We describe the geometry of this process in the framework of the complex projective space
A coherent state of many spins contains quantum entanglement which increases with a decrease in the collective spin value. We present a scheme to engineer this class of pure state based on incoherent spin pumping with a few collective raising/lowering operators. In a pumping scenario aimed for maximum entanglement, the steady-state of N pumped spin qubits realizes the ideal resource for the 1 to N/2 quantum telecloning. We show how the scheme can be implemented in a realistic system of atomic spin qubits in optical lattice. Error analysis show that high fidelity state engineering is possible f…
We propose an efficient method to generate multiparticle entangled states of NV centers in a spin mechanical system, where the spins interact through a collective coupling of the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) type. We show that, through adiabatic transitions in the ground state of the LMG Hamiltonian, the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ)-type or the W-type entangled states of the NV spins can be generated with this hybrid system from an initial product state. Because of adiabaticity, this scheme is robust against practical noise and experimental imperfection, and may be useful for quantum inform…
In the present article we investigate the efficacy of Dzyaloshisnhkii-Moriya (DM) interaction to convert the bound entangled states into free entangled states. Here we consider the tripartite hybrid system as a pair of non interacting two qutrits initially prepared in bound entangled states and one auxiliary qubit. The auxiliary qubit interacts with any one of the qutrit of the pair through DM interaction. It has been found that the DM interaction free the bound entangled states as time advances. In the present work we consider two types of bound entangled states investigated by Horodecki. Fur…
The experimental test of Bell's inequality is mainly focused on Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) form, which provides a quantitative bound, while little attention has been pained on the violation of Wigner inequality (WI). Based on the spin coherent state quantum probability statistics we in the present paper extend the WI and its violation to arbitrary two-spin entangled states with antiparallel and parallel spin-polarizations. The local part of density operator gives rise to the WI while the violation is a direct result of non-local interference between two components of the entangled state…
Quantum memory is an essential building block for quantum communication and scalable linear quantum computation. Storing two color entangled photons, with one photon being at telecom-wavelength while the other photon being compatible of quantum memory, has great advantages toward the realization of the fiber based long-distance quantum communication with the aid of quantum repeaters. Here, we report an experimental realization of storing a photon entangled with a telecom photon in polarization as an atomic spin wave in a cold atomic ensemble, thus establishing the entanglement between the tele…
We develop a scheme of fast forward of adiabatic spin dynamics of quantum entangled states. We settle the quasi-adiabatic dynamics by adding the regularization terms to the original Hamiltonian and then accelerate it with use of a large time-scaling factor. Assuming the experimentally-realizable candidate Hamiltonian consisting of the exchange interactions and magnetic field, we solved the regularization terms. These terms multiplied by the velocity function give rise to the state-dependent counter-diabatic terms. The scheme needs neither knowledge of full spectral properties of the system nor…
Spin density matrices of the system, containing arbitrary even number N of indistinguishable fermions with spin S = 1/2, described by antisymmetric wave function, have been calculated. The indistinguishability and the Pauli principles are proved to determine uniquely spin states, spin correlations and entanglement of fermion spin states. Increase of the particle number in the multifermion system reduces the spin correlation in any pair of fermions. The fully entangled system of N electrons are shown to be composed by pairs with nonentangled spin states that is the incoherent superposition of t…
Detailed analysis of behavior of spin-entangled particle pairs under arbitrary rotations in their Hilbert space has been performed. It shows a rich range of varieties (faces) of entanglement in different bases. Analytic criteria are obtained for the respective faces of an entangled state. The corresponding conditions generally depend on both the state itself and the chosen basis. The most important result is revealing a deep analogy between a spin-entangled electronic qubit pair and momentum-entangled photon pair. Both cases exhibit coherence transfer from individual particles to nonlocal stat…
Aharonov-Bohm (AB) and Aharonov-Casher (AC) effects are treated fully relativistically in 2+1 dimensions. The influences of the relevant geometric and topological phases on an entangled spin-1/2 system are studied. It is shown that for the AC case the correlation function of the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality for certain choices of the spin measurements depends on the AC phase explicitly.
We present techniques to construct the Deutsch-Hayden representation for quantum field operators and apply them to an entangled state of identical nonrelativistic spin-1/2 fermions localized in well-separated spatial regions. Using these entangled field operators we construct operators measuring spin in localized spatial regions, and verify that matrix elements of the spin-measurement operators in the information-free Deutsch-Hayden state yield the expected correlations between pairs of both entangled and unentangled particles. The entangled Deutsch-Hayden-representation field operators furnis…
