We show that the dynamics of interacting fermions can be exactly replaced by a quantum jump theory in the many-body density matrix space. In this theory, jumps occur between densities formed of pairs of Slater determinants, $D_{ab}=| Φ_a > < Φ_b |$, where each state evolves according to the Stochastic Schrödinger Equation (SSE) given in ref. \cite{Jul02}. A stochastic Liouville-von Neumann equation is derived as well as the associated Bogolyubov-Born-Green-Kirwood-Yvon (BBGKY) hierarchy. Due to the specific form of the many-body density along the path, the presented theory is equivalent to a stochastic theory in one-body density matrix space, in which each density matrix evolves according to its own mean field augmented by a one-body noise. Guided by the exact reformulation, a stochastic mean field dynamics valid in the weak coupling approximation is proposed. This theory leads to an approximate treatment of two-body effects similar to the extended Time-Dependent Hartree-Fock (Extended TDHF) scheme. In this stochastic mean field dynamics, statistical mixing can be directly considered and jumps occur on a coarse-grained time scale. Accordingly, numerical effort is expected to be significantly reduced for applications.
In this article, we show that the exact two-body problem can be replaced by quantum jumps between densities written as $D=| Ψ_a \right> \left< Ψ_b |$ where $| Ψ_a \right>$ and $| Ψ_b \right>$ are vacuum for different quasi-particles operators. It is shown that the stochastic process can be written as a Stochastic Time-Dependent Hartree-Fock Bogoliubov theory (Stochastic TDHFB) for the generalized density ${\cal R}$ associated to $D$ where ${\cal R}^2 = {\cal R}$ along each stochastic trajectory.
We present a family of many-body models which are exactly solvable analytically. The models are an extended n-body interaction Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model which considers spin-flip terms which are associated with the interaction of an external classical field which coherently manipulates the state of the system in order to, for example, process quantum information. The models also describe a two-mode Bose-Einstein condensate with a Josephson-type interaction which includes n-particle elastic and inelastic collisions. One of the models corresponds to the canonical two-mode Bose-Einstein Hamitoni…
A new convenient method to diagonalize the non-relativistic many-body Schroedinger equation with two-body central potentials is derived. It combines kinematic rotations (democracy transformations) and exact calculation of overlap integrals between bases with different sets of mass-scaled Jacobi coordinates, thereby allowing for a great simplification of this formidable problem. We validate our method by obtaining a perfect correspondence with the exactly solvable three-body ($N=3$) Calogero model in 1D.
A method based on the envelope theory is presented to compute approximate solutions for $N$-body Hamiltonians with identical particles in $D$ dimensions ($D\ge 2$). In some favorable cases, the approximate eigenvalues can be analytically determined and can be lower or upper bounds. An application to a $N$-body system with a minimal length is studied, and a semiclassical interpretation of the generic formula obtained for the eigenvalues is given.
We present two 2-body Hamiltonians that approximate the exact PH-Pfaffian wavefunction with their ground states for all the system sizes where this wavefunction has been numerically constructed to date. The approximate wavefunctions have high overlap with the original and reproduce well the low-lying entanglement spectrum and structure factor. The approximate generating Hamiltonians are obtained by an optimisation procedure where three to four pseudopotentials are varied in the neighbourhood of second Landau level Coulomb interaction or of a non-interacting model. They belong to a finite regio…
Restricted Boltzmann Machines (RBM) are simple statistical models defined on a bipartite graph which have been successfully used in studying more complicated many-body systems, both classical and quantum. In this work, we exploit the representation power of RBMs to provide an exact decomposition of many-body contact interactions into one-body operators coupled to discrete auxiliary fields. This construction generalizes the well known Hirsch's transform used for the Hubbard model to more complicated theories such as Pionless EFT in nuclear physics, which we analyze in detail. We also discuss po…
We present exact formulas for the entanglement and Rényi entropies generated at a quantum point contact (QPC) in terms of the statistics of charge fluctuations, which we illustrate with examples from both equilibrium and non-equilibrium transport. The formulas are also applicable to groundstate entanglement in systems described by non-interacting fermions in any dimension, which in one dimension includes the critical spin-1/2 XX and Ising models where conformal field theory predictions for the entanglement and Rényi entropies are reproduced from the full counting statistics. These results may …
The approach of multi-dimensional SUSY Quantum Mechanics is used in an explicit construction of exactly solvable 3-body (and quasi-exactly-solvable $N$-body) matrix problems on a line. From intertwining relations with time-dependent operators, we build exactly solvable non-stationary scalar and $2\times 2$ matrix 3-body models which are time-dependent extensions of the Calogero model. Finally, we investigate the invariant operators associated to these systems.
We investigate a reformulation of the dynamics of interacting fermion systems in terms of a stochastic extension of Time Dependent Hartree-Fock equations. The noise is found from a path-integral representation of the evolution operator and allows to interpret the exact N-body state as a coherent average over Slater determinants evolving under the random mean-fied. The full density operator and the expectation value of any observable are then reconstructed using pairs of stochastic uncorrelated wave functions. The imaginary time propagation is also presented and gives a similar stochastic one-b…
We reduce two-body problem to the one-body problem in general case of deformed Heisenberg algebra leading to minimal length.Two-body problems with delta and Coulomb-like interactions are solved exactly. We obtain analytical expression for the energy spectrum for partial cases of deformation function. The dependence of the energy spectrum on the center-of-mass momentum is found. For special case of deformation function, which correspondes to cutoff procedure in momentum space it is shown that this dependence is more likely to observe for identical particles.
In this Brief Report the extended Bose-Hubbard model with local two- and three-body interactions is studied by the exact diagonalization approach. The shapes of the first two insulating lobes are discussed and the values of the critical tunneling for which the insulating phase loses stability for repulsive and attractive three-body interactions are predicted.
A surprising "duality" of the Newton equation with time-dependent forces and the stationary Schroedinger equation is discussed. Wide classes of exact solutions not known before for few-body Newton equations are generated directly from exactly solvable multichannel models discovered in quantum mechanics due to the inverse problem and the supersymmetry (SUSYQ) approach. The application of this duality to the control of the stability (bifurcations) of classical motions is suggested.
We study Hamiltonian systems with point interactions and give a systematic description of the corresponding boundary conditions and the spectrum properties for self-adjoint, PT-symmetric systems and systems with real spectra. The integrability of one dimensional many body systems with these kinds of point (contact) interactions are investigated for both bosonic and fermionic statistics.
We show that any non-relativistic quantum N-body dynamics problem with pairwise interactions can be exactly reformulated in terms of N well behaved 1-body stochastic density equations. Specifically, the time evolving N-body density matrix is written as an average of tensor products of 1-body densities each of which obeys a stochastic evolution equation. Such decompositions can be constructed for any mixture of fermions and bosons. The evolution equations for the 1-body densities preserve norm, Hermiticity and positivity.
The Hall--Post inequalities provide lower bounds on $N$-body energies in terms of $N'$-body energies with $N'<N$. They are rewritten and generalized to be tested with exactly-solvable models of Calogero-Sutherland type in one and higher dimensions. The bound for $N$ spinless fermions in one dimension is better saturated at large coupling than for noninteracting fermions in an oscillator
We obtain all the exact eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions of $N$-body Bose and Fermi systems with Quadratic Pair Potentials in one dimension. The originally existed first excited state level is missing in one dimension, which results from the operation of symmetry or antisymmetry of identical particles. In two and higher dimensions, we give all the eigenvalues and the analytical ground state wave functions and the number of degeneracy. Through the comparison with Avinash Khare's results, we have perfected his results.
We present an exact solution of the three-body scattering problem for a one parameter family of one dimensional potentials containing the Calogero and Wolfes potentials as special limiting cases. The result is an interesting nontrivial relationship between the final momenta $p'_i$ and the initial momenta $p_i$ of the three particles. We also discuss another one parameter family of potentials for all of which $p'_i=-p_i~(i=1,2,3)$.
Knowledge of the ground state of a homogeneous quantum many-body system can be used to find the exact ground state of a dual inhomogeneous system with a confining potential. For the complete family of parent Hamiltonians with a ground state of Bijl-Jastrow form in free space, the dual system is shown to include a one-body harmonic potential and two-body long-range interactions. The extension to anharmonic potentials and quantum solids with Nosanov-Jastrow wavefunctions is also presented. We apply this exact mapping to construct eigenstates of trapped systems from free-space solutions with a va…

I consider several N-body problems for which exact (bosonic) ground state and a class of excited states are known in case the N-bodies are also interacting via harmonic oscillator potential. I show that for all these problems the exact (bosonic) ground state and a class of excited states can also be obtained in case they interact via an N-body potential of the form $-e^2/\sqrt{\sumr^2_i}$ (or $-e^2/\sqrt{\sum_{i<j} (r_i - r_j)^2}$). Based on these and previously known examples, I conjecture that whenever an N-body problem is solvable in case the N-bodies are interacting via an oscillator poten…
Progress toward the solution of the strongly correlated electron problem has been stymied by the exponential complexity of the wave function. Previous work established an exact two-body exponential product expansion for the ground-state wave function. By developing a reduced density matrix analogue of Dalgarno-Lewis perturbation theory, we prove here that (i) the two-body exponential product expansion is rapidly and globally convergent with each operator representing an order of a renormalized perturbation theory, (ii) the energy of the expansion converges quadratically near the solution, and …
An exactly solvable model for the multi-level system interacting with several reservoirs at zero temperatures is presented. Population decay rates and decoherence rates predicted by exact solution and several approximate master equations, which are widespread in physical literature, are compared. The space of parameters is classified with respect to different inequities between the exact and approximate rates.
In many of the approximate functionals in one-body reduced density matrix (1RDM) functional theory, the approximate two-body reduced density matrix (2RDM) in the natural orbital representation only depends on the natural occupation numbers. In Phys. Rev. A 92, 012520 (2015) Wang and Knowles initialised a discussion of to what extent this simplification is valid, by introducing two different H$_4$ geometries with identical natural occupation numbers, but different 2RDMs. Gritsenko has argued that this feature is due symmetry [Phys. Rev. A 97, 026501 (2018)]. This work aims to contribute to the …
We gather and examine in detail gate decomposition techniques for continuous-variable quantum computers and also introduce some new techniques which expand on these methods. Both exact and approximate decomposition methods are studied and gate counts are compared for some common operations. While each having distinct advantages, we find that exact decompositions have lower gate counts whereas approximate techniques can cover decompositions for all continuous-variable operations but require significant circuit depth for a modest precision.
In this article, we define a new mathematical object, called a pair $D=\left(A,C\right)$ of anti-commutation matrices (ACMP) based on the anti-commutation relation $a^†_{i}a_{j} + a_{j}a^†_{i} = δ_{ij}$ applied to the scalar product between the many-body wavefunctions. This ACMP explicitly separates the different levels of correlation. The one-body correlations are defined by a ACMP $D^0=\left(A^0,C^0\right)$ and the two-body ones by a set of $n$ ACMPs $D^i=\left(A^i,C^i\right)$ where $n$ is the number of states. We show that we can have a compact and exact parametrization with $n^4$ parameter…
On the base of a Feynman-Kac--type formula involving Poisson stochastic processes, recently a Monte Carlo algorithm has been introduced, which describes exactly the real- or imaginary-time evolution of many-body lattice quantum systems. We extend this algorithm to the exact simulation of time-dependent correlation functions. The techniques generally employed in Monte Carlo simulations to control fluctuations, namely reconfigurations and importance sampling, are adapted to the present algorithm and their validity is rigorously proved. We complete the analysis by several examples for the hard-co…
Quantum many-body scars have attracted much interest as a violation of the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis (ETH) due to recent experimental observation in Rydberg atoms and related theoretical studies. In this paper, we construct a model hosting exact Floquet quantum many-body scars, which violate the Floquet version of ETH. We consider two uniformly-driven static Hamiltonians prohibiting neighboring up spins (Rydberg blockade) like the PXP model, and construct a binary drive composed of them. We show that there exists a four-dimensional subspace which completely avoids thermalization to …
We investigate the correlations between different bipartitions of an exactly solvable one-dimensional many-body Moshinsky model consisting of Nn "nuclei" and Ne "electrons". We study the dependence of entanglement on the inter-particle interaction strength, on the number of particles, and on the particle masses. Consistent with kinematic intuition, the entanglement between two subsystems vanishes when the subsystems have very different masses, while it attains its maximal value for subsystems of comparable mass. We show how this entanglement feature can be inferred by means of the Born-Oppenhe…
We study aspects of the quantum and classical dynamics of a $3$-body system in 3D space with interaction depending only on mutual distances. The study is restricted to solutions in the space of relative motion which are functions of mutual distances only. It is shown that the ground state (and some other states) in the quantum case and the planar trajectories in the classical case are of this type. The quantum (and classical) system for which these states are eigenstates is found and its Hamiltonian is constructed. It corresponds to a three-dimensional quantum particle moving in a curved space…
For the models of $N$-body identical harmonic oscillators interacting through potentials of homogeneous degree -2, the unitary operator that transforms a system of time-dependent parameters into that of unit spring constant and unit mass of different timescale is found. If the interactions can be written in terms of the differences between positions of two particles, it is also shown that the Schrödinger equation is invariant under a unitary transformation. These unitary relations can be used not only in finding coherent states from the given stationary states in a system, but also in finding …
One of the defining features of many-body localization is the presence of extensively many quasi-local conserved quantities. These constants of motion constitute a corner-stone to an intuitive understanding of much of the phenomenology of many-body localized systems arising from effective Hamiltonians. They may be seen as local magnetization operators smeared out by a quasi-local unitary. However, accurately identifying such constants of motion remains a challenging problem. Current numerical constructions often capture the conserved operators only approximately restricting a conclusive unders…
We present a comparative analysis of exact and approximate quantum error correction by means of simple unabridged analytical computations. For the sake of clarity, using primitive quantum codes, we study the exact and approximate error correction of the two simplest unital (Pauli errors) and nonunital (non-Pauli errors) noise models, respectively. The similarities and differences between the two scenarios are stressed. In addition, the performances of quantum codes quantified by means of the entanglement fidelity for different recovery schemes are taken into consideration in the approximate ca…
Many-body localization was proven under realistic assumptions by constructing a quasi-local unitary rotation that diagonalizes the Hamiltonian (Imbrie, 2016). A natural generalization is to consider all unitaries that have a similar structure. We bound entanglement for states generated by such unitaries, thus providing an independent proof of area law in eigenstates of many-body localized systems. An error of approximating the unitary by a finite-depth local circuit is obtained. We connect the defined family of unitaries to other results about many-body localization (Kim et al, 2014), in parti…

Stark many body localization problem on a periodic spin chain with local four spin hopping conserving dipole moment becomes equivalent to a spin pair hopping model after overturn of spins in odd or even positions. Eigenstates of the latter problem are separated into four groups including two groups of delocalized states with translationally invariant unrestricted (group I) or restricted (group II) Krylov subspaces and other two with confined spin transport having either all mobile (group III) or some immobile spins (group IV). These groups can be examined experimentally in systems like those r…
We have evaluated excitation energy transfer rates in photosyntetic complexes using the exact HEOM method and various approximate methods frequently used in the literature, namely, the Förster method, the Redfield method, the modified Redfield method and the variational master equation. The rates are evaluated for the case of a simple dimer and a trimer photosynthetic complex, with vibrational environment characterized by the Drude-Lorentz spectral density. Comparing approximate rates to the exact ones, we have confirmed the validity of approximate methods within appropriate limits, however th…
A model for the simulation of ensembles of laser-driven Rydberg-Rydberg interacting multi-level atoms is discussed. Our hybrid approach combines an exact two-body treatment of nearby atom pairs with an effective approximate treatment for spatially separated pairs. We propose an optimized evolution equation based only on the system steady state, and a time-independent Monte Carlo technique is used to efficiently determine this steady state. The hybrid model predicts features in the pair correlation function arising from multi-atom processes which existing models can only partially reproduce. Ou…
We develop a constructive approach to generate artificial neural networks representing the exact ground states of a large class of many-body lattice Hamiltonians. It is based on the deep Boltzmann machine architecture, in which two layers of hidden neurons mediate quantum correlations among physical degrees of freedom in the visible layer. The approach reproduces the exact imaginary-time Hamiltonian evolution, and is completely deterministic. In turn, compact and exact network representations for the ground states are obtained without stochastic optimization of the network parameters. The numb…
Polynomially filtered exact diagonalization method (POLFED) for large sparse matrices is introduced. The algorithm finds an optimal basis of a subspace spanned by eigenvectors with eigenvalues close to a specified energy target by a spectral transformation using a high order polynomial of the matrix. The memory requirements scale better with system size than in the state-of-the-art shift-invert approach. The potential of POLFED is demonstrated examining many-body localization transition in 1D interacting quantum spin-1/2 chains. We investigate the disorder strength and system size scaling of T…
The Hamiltonian H of one-body Maryland model is defined as the sum of a linear unperturbed Hamiltonian H_0 and the interaction V, which is a Toeplitz matrix. Maryland model with a doubly infinite Hilbert space are exactly solved. Special cases of one-body Maryland model include the original Maryland model (Phys. Rev. Lett. 49, 833 (1982) and Physica 10D, 369 (1984)), which describes a quantum kickied linear rotator and single band Bloch oscillations. Maryland model and single band Bloch oscillations are the same Hamiltonian in two different representations. A special case of many-body Maryland…
We use the Bethe Ansatz technique to study dissipative systems experiencing loss. The method allows us to exactly calculate the Liouvillian spectrum. This opens the possibility of analytically calculating the dynamics of a wide range of experimentally relevant models including cold atoms subjected to one and two body losses, coupled cavity arrays with bosons escaping the cavity, and cavity quantum electrodynamics. As an example of our approach we study the relaxation properties in a boundary driven XXZ spin chain. We exactly calculate the Liouvillian gap and find different relaxation rates wit…
We compare exact and SU(2)-cluster approximate calculation schemes to determine dynamics of the second-harmonic generation model using its reformulation in terms of a polynomial Lie algebra $su_{pd}(2)$ and related spectral representations of the model evolution operator realized in algorithmic forms. It enabled us to implement computer experiments exhibiting a satisfactory accuracy of the cluster approximations in a large range of characteristic model parameters.
We investigate the fragmented many-body ground states of a spin-2 Bose gas in zero magnetic field.\ We point out that the exact ground state is not simply an average over rotationally-invariant mean-field states, in contrast to the spin-1 case with even number of particles N.\ We construct the exact ground states and compare them with the angular-averaged polar and cyclic states.\ The angular-averaged polar states fail to retrieve the exact eigenstate at $N$ $\ge$ $6$ while angular-averaged cyclic states sustain only for N with a multiple of $3$.\ We calculate the density matrices and two-part…
A unified approach, for solving a wide class of single and many-body quantum problems, commonly encountered in literature is developed based on a recently proposed method for finding solutions of linear differential equations. Apart from dealing with exactly and quasi-exactly solvable problems, the present approach makes transparent various properties of the familiar orthogonal polynomials and also the construction of their respective ladder operators. We illustrate the procedure for finding the approximate eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of non-exactly solvable problems.
One of the major computational bottlenecks in one-body reduced density matrix (1RDM) functional theory is the evaluation of approximate 1RDM functionals and their derivatives. The reason is that more advanced approximate functionals are almost exclusively defined in the natural orbital basis, so a 4-index transformation of the two-electron integrals appears to be unavoidable. I will show that this is not the case and that so-called separable functionals can be evaluated much more efficiently, i.e. only at cubic cost in the basis size. Since most approximate functionals are actually separable, …
The discovery of Quantum Many-Body Scars (QMBS) both in Rydberg atom simulators and in the Affleck-Kennedy-Lieb-Tasaki (AKLT) spin-1 chain model, have shown that a weak violation of ergodicity can still lead to rich experimental and theoretical physics. In this review, we provide a pedagogical introduction to and an overview of the exact results on weak ergodicity breaking via QMBS in isolated quantum systems with the help of simple examples such as the fermionic Hubbard model. We also discuss various mechanisms and unifying formalisms that have been proposed to encompass the plethora of syste…
The wave functions of Boson and Fermion gases are known even when the particles have harmonic interactions. Here we generalise these results by solving exactly the N-body Schrodinger equation for potentials V that can be any function of the sum of the squares of the distances of the particles from one another in 3 dimensions. For the harmonic case that function is linear in r^2. Explicit N-body solutions are given when U(r) = -2M \hbar^{-2} V(r) = ζr^{-1} - ζ_2 r^{-2}. Here M is the sum of the masses and r^2 = 1/2 M^{-2} Sigma Sigma m_I m_J ({\bf x}_I - {\bf x}_J)^2. For general U(r) the solut…
We develop a systematic approach to construct energy functionals of the one-particle reduced density matrix (1RDM) for equilibrium systems at finite temperature. The starting point of our formulation is the grand potential $Ω[\mathbf{G}]$ regarded as variational functional of the Green's function $G$ based on diagrammatic many-body perturbation theory and for which we consider either the Klein or Luttinger-Ward form. By restricting the input Green's function to be one-to-one related to a set on one-particle reduced density matrices (1RDM) this functional becomes a functional of the 1RDM. To es…
