We present the application of the variational-wavelet analysis to the analysis of quantum ensembles in Wigner framework. (Naive) deformation quantization, the multiresolution representations and the variational approach are the key points. We construct the solutions of Wigner-like equations via the multiscale expansions in the generalized coherent states or high-localized nonlinear eigenmodes in the base of the compactly supported wavelets and the wavelet packets. We demonstrate the appearance of (stable) localized patterns (waveletons) and consider entanglement and decoherence as possible applications.
We present the application of variational-wavelet analysis to numerical/analytical calculations of Wigner functions in (nonlinear) quasiclassical beam dynamics problems. (Naive) deformation quantization and multiresolution representations are the key points.
We present an application of variational-wavelet analysis to quasiclassical calculations of solutions of Wigner equations related to nonlinear (polynomial) dynamical problems. (Naive) deformation quantization, multiresolution representations and variational approach are the key points. Numerical calculations demonstrates pattern formation from localized eigenmodes and transition from chaotic to localized (waveleton) types of behaviour.

A fast and efficient numerical-analytical approach is proposed for modeling complex behaviour in the BBGKY hierarchy of kinetic equations. We construct the multiscale representation for hierarchy of reduced distribution functions in the variational approach and multiresolution decomposition in polynomial tensor algebras of high-localized states. Numerical modeling shows the creation of various internal structures from localized modes, which are related to localized or chaotic type of behaviour and the corresponding patterns (waveletons) formation. The localized pattern is a model for energy co…
We present the application of variational-wavelet analysis to numerical/analytical calculations of Wigner functions in (nonlinear) quasiclassical beam dynamics problems. (Naive) deformation quantization and multiresolution representations are the key points. We construct the representation via multiscale expansions in generalized coherent states or high-localized nonlinear eigenmodes in the base of compactly supported wavelets and wavelet packets.
We demonstrate the creation of nontrivial (meta) stable states (patterns), localized, chaotic, entangled or decoherent, from the basic localized modes in various collective models arising from the quantum hierarchy described by Wigner-like equations. The numerical simulation demonstrates the formation of various (meta) stable patterns or orbits generated by internal hidden symmetry from generic high-localized fundamental modes. In addition, we can control the type of behavior on the pure algebraic level by means of properly reduced algebraic systems (generalized dispersion relations).
It is obvious that we still have not any unified framework covering a zoo of interpretations of Quantum Mechanics, as well as satisfactory understanding of main ingredients of a phenomena like entanglement. The starting point is an idea to describe properly the key ingredient of the area, namely point/particle-like objects (physical quantum points/particles or, at least, structureless but quantum objects) and to change point (wave) functions by sheaves to the sheaf wave functions (Quantum Sheaves). In such an approach Quantum States are sections of the coherent sheaves or contravariant functor…

We present a new quasi-probability distribution function for ensembles of spin-half particles or qubits that has many properties in common with Wigner's original function for systems of continuous variables. We show that this function provides clear and intuitive graphical representation of a wide variety of states, including Fock states, spin-coherent states, squeezed states, superpositions and statistical mixtures. Unlike previous attempts to represent ensembles of spins/qubits, this distribution is capable of simultaneously representing several angular momentum shells.
We present a family of methods, analytical and numerical, which can describe behaviour in (non) equilibrium ensembles, both classical and quantum, especially in the complex systems, where the standard approaches cannot be applied. We demonstrate the creation of nontrivial (meta) stable states (patterns), localized, chaotic, entangled or decoherent, from basic localized modes in various collective models arising from the quantum hierarchy of Wigner-von Neumann-Moyal-Lindblad equations, which are the result of ``wignerization'' procedure of classical BBGKY hierarchy. We present the explicit desc…
The possibility of constructing a complete, continuous Wigner function for any quantum system has been a subject of investigation for over 50 years. A key system that has served to illustrate the difficulties of this problem has been an ensemble of spins. Here we present a general and consistent framework for constructing Wigner functions exploiting the underlying symmetries in the physical system at hand. The Wigner function can be used to fully describe any quantum system of arbitrary dimension or ensemble size.
It is standard to assume that the Wigner distribution of a mixed quantum state consisting of square-integrable functions is a quasi-probability distribution, that is that its integral is one and that the marginal properties are satisfied. However this is in general not true. We introduce a class of quantum states for which this property is satisfied, these states are dubbed "Feichtinger states" because they are defined in terms of a class of functional spaces (modulation spaces) introduced in the 1980's by H. Feichtinger. The properties of these states are studied, which gives us the opportuni…

In this second part we present a set of methods, analytical and numerical, which can describe behaviour in (non) equilibrium ensembles, both classical and quantum, especially in the complex systems, where the standard approaches cannot be applied. The key points demonstrating advantages of this approach are: (i) effects of localization of possible quantum states; (ii) effects of non-perturbative multiscales which cannot be calculated by means of perturbation approaches; (iii) effects of formation of complex/collective quantum patterns from localized modes and classification and possible contro…
In the report we analyze the indicator/measure of classicality of quantum states defined as the probability to find a state with a positive Wigner function within a unitary invariant random ensemble. The indicators of classicality of three ensembles associated with the Hilbert-Schmidt, Bures and Bogoliubov-Kubo-Mori metrics on the space of quantum states of 3-level system are computed. Their dependence on a moduli parameter of the Wigner function is studied for all strata of a qutrit state space stratified in accordance with the unitary group action.
The coupling of weak light fields to Rydberg states of atoms under conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) leads to the formation of Rydberg polaritons which are quasi-particles with tunable effective mass and long-range interactions. Confined to one spatial dimension their low energy physics is that of a moving-frame Luttinger liquid which due to the long-range character of the repulsive interaction can form a Wigner crystal. We calculate the Luttinger $K$ parameter using density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) simulations and find that under typical slow-light condit…
Quantum-mechanically correlated (entangled) states of many particles are of interest in quantum information, quantum computing and quantum metrology. Metrologically useful entangled states of large atomic ensembles have been experimentally realized, but these states display Gaussian spin distribution functions with a non-negative Wigner function. Non-Gaussian entangled states have been produced in small ensembles of ions, and very recently in large atomic ensembles. Here, we generate entanglement in a large atomic ensemble via the interaction with a very weak laser pulse; remarkably, the detec…
We propose a generalization of the quantum entropy introduced by Wigner and von Neumann in 1929 [Zeitschrift für Physik 57, 30 (1929)]. Our generalization is applicable to both quantum pure states and mixed states. When the dimension $N$ of the Hilbert space is large, as a result of typicality, this generalized Wigner-von Neumann (GWvN) entropy becomes independent of choices of basis and is asymptotically equal to $\ln N$. The dynamic evolution of our entropy is also typical, reminiscent of quantum H theorem proved by von Neumann. For the microcanonical ensemble, the GWvN entropy is equivalent…
In these two related parts we present a set of methods, analytical and numerical, which can illuminate the behaviour of quantum system, especially in the complex systems. The key points demonstrating advantages of this approach are: (i) effects of localization of possible quantum states, more proper than "gaussian-like states"; (ii) effects of non-perturbative multiscales which cannot be calculated by means of perturbation approaches; (iii) effects of formation of complex quantum patterns from localized modes or classification and possible control of the full zoo of quantum states, including (…
Extending the definition of phase-space (Wigner) quantum projectors to thermodynamic ensembles usually results into an efficient platform for quantifying their elementary information content. Given the spectral decomposition profile of a thermalized quantum system, general expressions for the quantum purity quantifier, $\mathcal{P}(β)$, and for phase-space projectors related to the quantum fidelity, $\mathcal{F}(β)$, are explicitly derived in terms of an explicit correspondence with the related partition function, $\mathcal{Z}(β)$. Besides quantifying the storage of information capacity of the…
The Wigner function is a quantum analogue of the classical joined distribution of position and momentum. As such is should be a good tool to study quantum-classical correspondence. In this paper, the classical limit of the Wigner function is shown using the quantum harmonic oscillator as an example. The Wigner function is found exactly for all states. The semi-classical wavefunctions for highly excited states are used as the approach to the classical limit. Therefore, one can found the classical limit of the Wigner function for highly excited states and shown that it gives the classical microc…
We have calculated the joint probability distribution function for random reverse-cyclic matrices and shown that it is related to an N-body exactly solvable model. We refer to this well-known model potential as a screened harmonic oscillator. The connection enables us to obtain all the correlations among the particle positions moving in a screened harmonic potential. The density of nontrivial eigenvalues of this ensemble is found to be of the Wigner form and admits a hole at the origin, in contrast to the semicircle law of the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble of random matrices. The spacing distri…
Phase-space features of the Wigner flow for generic one-dimensional systems with a Hamiltonian, $H^{W}(q,\,p)$, constrained by the $\partial ^2 H^{W} / \partial q \partial p = 0$ condition are analytically obtained in terms of Wigner functions and Wigner currents. Liouvillian and stationary profiles are identified for thermodynamic (TD) and Gaussian quantum ensembles to account for exact corrections due to quantum modifications over a classical phase-space pattern. General results are then specialized to the Harper Hamiltonian system which, besides working as a feasible test platform for the f…
We provide an introduction into the formulation of non-relativistic quantum mechanics using the Wigner phase-space distribution function and apply this concept to two physical situations at the interface of quantum theory and general relativity: (i) the motion of an ensemble of cold atoms relevant to tests of the weak equivalence principle, and (ii) the Kasevich-Chu interferometer. In order to lay the foundations for this analysis we first present a representation-free description of the Kasevich-Chu interferometer based on unitary operators.
The density operator for a quantum system in thermal equilibrium with its environment depends on Planck's constant, as well as the temperature. At high temperatures, the Weyl representation, that is, the thermal Wigner function, becomes indistinguishable from the corresponding classical distribution in phase space, whereas the low temperature limit singles out the quantum ground state of the system's Hamiltonian. In all regimes, thermal averages of arbitrary observables are evaluated by integrals, as if the thermal Wigner function were a classical distribution. The extension of the semiclassic…
The new numerical approach for consideration of quantum dynamics and calculations of the average values of quantum operators and time correlation functions in the Wigner representation of quantum statistical mechanics has been developed. The time correlation functions have been presented in the form of the integral of the Weyl's symbol of considered operators and the Fourier transform of the product of matrix elements of the dynamic propagators. For the last function the integral Wigner- Liouville's type equation has been derived. The numerical procedure for solving this equation combining bot…
