This paper contains a criticism of the article: Ch. Simon, V. Buzek and N. Gisin: ``No-Signaling Condition and Quantum Dynamics'', Phys. Rev. Lett. 87 (2001) 170405, containing a proposal of adoption into quantum mechanics (QM) a new basic axiom. This axiom was declared to imply linearity of time evolution in QM on the basis of kinematic assumptions only. It is shown why, under the considered conditions, the axiom called ``no-signaling condition'' is not effective.
We comment on the article of Ch. Simon, V. Buzek and N. Gisin: ``No-Signaling Condition and Quantum Dynamics'', Phys. Rev. We prove a special case of Helstrom theorem by using no-signaling condition in the special theory of relativity that faster-than-light communication is impossible.
On the basis of a variant of the EPR-Bohm example, we show that the no-signaling condition can be employed as a useful tool for deriving a constraint on a suitably defined measure of the `nonidealness' of a Stern-Gerlach(SG) setup. In this demonstration, a key ingredient is provided by the characteristics of the exact solution of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation as applied to a most general SG setup.
We show that the linearity of an evolution of Quantum Mechanics follows from the definition of kinematics. The same result is obtained for an arbitrary theory with the state space that includes mixtures of different preparations. Next, we formulate the non-signaling theorem and show that the theorem poses no additional restriction on Quantum Mechanics provided the kinematics is given. We also discuss validity of the postulate for the case of more general theories.
We propose a condition, called convex quasi-linearity, for deterministic nonlinear quantum evolutions. Evolutions satisfying this condition do not allow for arbitrary fast signaling, therefore, they cannot be ruled out by a standard argument. We also give an explicit example of a nonlinear qubit evolution satisfying quasi-linearity.
The single qudit state tomograms are shown to have the no signaling property. The known and new entropic and information inequalities for Shannon, von Neumann and q-entropies of the composite and noncomposite systems characterizing correlations in these systems are discussed. The spin tomographic probability distributions determining the single qudit states are demonstrated to satisfy the strong subadditivity condition for Tsallis q-entropy. Examples of the new entropic inequalities for q-entropy are considered for qudits with j = 5=2, j = 7=2.
We investigate a new class of quantum cloning machines that equally duplicate all real states in a Hilbert space of arbitrary dimension. By using the no-signaling condition, namely that cloning cannot make superluminal communication possible, we derive an upper bound on the fidelity of this class of quantum cloning machines. Then, for each dimension d, we construct an optimal symmetric cloner whose fidelity saturates this bound. Similar calculations can also be performed in order to recover the fidelity of the optimal universal cloner in d dimensions.
It is shown that the no-signaling condition is not needed in order to argue a linear quantum dynamics from standard quantum statics and the usual interpretation of quantum measurement outcomes as probabilistic mixtures.

The idea that non-local correlations stronger than quantum correlations between two no-signaling systems could theoretically exist is based on an incorrect statistical interpretation of the no-signaling condition. This article shows that any physically realizable no-signaling box involving local incompatible observables indeed requires to be described in a non-commutative, quantum-like language of operators -which leads to the derivation of the Tsirelson bound and then contradicts this idea.
We present an operational and model-independent framework to investigate the concept of no-backwards-in-time signaling. We define no-backwards-in-time signaling conditions, closely related to the spatial no-signaling conditions. These allow for theoretical possibilities in which the future affects the past, nevertheless without signaling backwards in time. This is analogous to non-local but no-signaling spatial correlations. Furthermore, our results shed new light on situations with indefinite causal structure and their connection to quantum theory.

We provide a general framework of utilizing the no-signaling principle in derivation of the guessing probability in the minimum-error quantum state discrimination. We show that, remarkably, the guessing probability can be determined by the no-signaling principle. This is shown by proving that in the semidefinite programming for the discrimination, the optimality condition corresponds to the constraint that quantum theory cannot be used for a superluminal communication. Finally, a general bound to the guessing probability is presented in a closed form.

Motivated by the recent studies on post-quantum steering, we generalize the notion of bipartite channel steering by introducing the concept of multipartite no-signaling channel assemblages. We first show that beyond the bipartite case, the no-signaling and quantum descriptions of channel assemblages do not coincide. Pure states are very important in any theory since they represent states of maximal information about the system within the theory. Here, we show that no non-trivial (not local realistic) extremal states (boxes) of general no-signaling theories can be realized within quantum theory. We then explore three interesting consequences of this fact. We show that monogamy of Bell's inequality violations, which is strictly weaker condition than no-signaling is enough to prove security of quantum key distribution. We derive our results for a whole class of monogamy constraints and generalize our results to any theory that communicating parties may have access to. Some of these theories do not respect no-signaling principle yet still allow for secure communication. Bell showed 50 years ago that quantum theory is nonlocal via his celebrated inequalities, turning the issue of quantum nonlocality from a matter of taste into a matter of test. Nonclassical properties of correlations-- like unpredictability, no-cloning and uncertainty-- are known to follow from two assumptions: nonlocality and no-signaling. For two-input-two-output correlations, we derive these properties from a single, unified assumption: namely, the excess of the communication cost over the signaling in the correlation. The problem of boundary behaviour at the origin of coordinates is discussed for D-dimensional Schrodinger equation in the framework of hyper spherical formalism, which have been often considered last time. We show that the Dirichlet condition, which seems as natural, is not mathematically well justified, on the contrary to the 3-dimensional case. The stronger argument in favour of Dirichlet boundary condition is the requirement of time independence of wave functions norm. The problem remains open for singular potentials.
In the paper "Conditionally exactly soluble class of quantum potentials" by A. de Souza Dutra [Phys. Rev. A 47 (1993) R2435] the whole $s-$wave spectrum of bound states in potentials $V_1(r)=A/r+B/r^{1/2}+G_0/r^2$ with $G_0=-3\hbar/32μ$ and $V_2(r)=A r^{2/3}+B/r^{2/3}+g_0/r^2$ with $g_0=-5\hbar^2/72μ$ has been constructed in closed form. We show that both the result and the method of its derivation are not correct.
In an attempt to restore the unitarity of the evaporation process, Horowitz and Maldacena recently proposed a boundary-condition constraint for the final quantum state of an evaporating black hole at its singularity. Gottesman and Preskill have argued that the proposed constraint must lead to nonlinear evolution of the initial (collapsing) quantum state. We consider the problem of representation of quantum states and observables in the framework of classical probability theory (Kolmogorov's measure-theoretic axiomatics, 1933). The Kennard-type uncertainty relation $ΔxΔp >\frac{\hbar}{2}$ is formulated for a free particle with given momentum < \hat{p}>$ inside a box with periodic boundary conditions in the large box limit. Our construction of a free particle state is analogous to that of the Bloch wave in a periodic potential. A simple Robertson-type relation, which minimizes the effect of the box boundary and may be useful in some practical applications, is also presented.
Berta et al [Phys. Rev. Lett., 121, 040504 (2018)] claim that their result provides a conceptually new extension of the decoupling approach to quantum information theory. We provide an alternate proof using the plain-vanilla decoupling approach for the achievable rates of their main result and hence, their claim is unwarranted, and the title can be misleading when taken in conjunction with the claim.
