The purpose of the paper is to point out some typos and to observe that the main result of V. Ramakrishna, K. Flores, H. Rabitz and R. J. Ober, Phys. Rev. A Volume 62, 054309, 2000 remains valid (and this validity can be verified in a constructive fashion) with only the requirement that the su(2) matrices A and B in the paper in the title be linearly independent. An interpretation of this constructive extension, in terms of Givens rotations of real Euclidean space, is given.
I. Raptis and R. Zapatrin in the quant-ph/0010104 show possibility to express general state of $l$-qubits quantum register as sum at most $2^l-l$ product states. In the comment is suggested more simple construction with possibility of generalization for decomposition of tensor product of Hilbert spaces with arbitrary dimension $n$ (here simplicial complexes used in the article mentioned above would not be applied directly). In this case it is decomposition with $n^l-(n^2-n)l/2$ product states.
This paper has been withdrawn by the author. My counter-example to the Koashi-Imoto decomposition can be avoided by setting j=1 for all states, at fixed l.
Kang et al. [Chin. Phys. B 24 (2015) 090306] proposed a controlled mutual quantum entity authentication protocol. We find that the proposed protocol is not secure, that is, Charlie can eavesdrop the shared keys between Alice and Bob without being detected.
The correct form of the Schmidt decomposition of the stationary wave functions for a system of two interacting particles trapped in a two-dimensional harmonic potential is given
We analyze a recent claim that almost all closed, finite dimensional quantum systems have trap-free (i.e., free from local optima) landscapes (B. Russell et.al. J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 50, 205302 (2017)). We point out several errors in the proof which compromise the authors' conclusion. Interested readers are highly encouraged to take a look at the "rebuttal" (see Ref. [1]) of this comment published by the authors of the criticized work. This "rebuttal" is a showcase of the way the erroneous and misleading statements under discussion will be wrapped up and injected in their future works, such…
In [Phys. Rev. A 82, 042103 (2010)], the authors showed that "for a class of the non-Markovian master equations in time-local forms", the quantum Fisher information (QFI) flow can be decomposed into additive subflows corresponding to different dissipative channels. However, the paper does not specify the class of non-Markovian time-local master equations for which their analytic decomposition of the QFI flow is valid. Here we show that several suppositions have to be made in order to reach the central result of Ref. \cite{luwsun10}, which appears to be valid for a narrow class of density opera…
In 2015, Li et al. (Quantum Inf Process (2015) 14:2171-2181) proposed an arbitrated quantum signature (AQS) scheme based on the chained controlled-NOT operations encryption. However, this paper points out that in their scheme an attacker can forge a signature without being detected. Therefore, Li et al.'s AQS scheme cannot satisfy the unforgeability and non-repudiation property.
Many quantum control problems are formulated as a search for an optimal field that maximizes a physical objective. This search is performed over a landscape defined as the objective as a function of the control field. A recent Letter [A. N. Pechen and D. J. Tannor, Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 120402 (2011)] asserts that the existence of special landscape critical points (CPs) with trapping characteristics is "contrary to recent claims in the literature" and "can have profound implications for both theoretical and experimental quantum control studies." We show here that these assertions are inaccurat…
The controllability property of the unitary propagator of an N-level quantum mechanical system subject to a single control field is described using the structure theory of semisimple Lie algebras. Sufficient conditions are provided for the vector fields in a generic configuration as well as in a few degenerate cases.
We study the quantum controlled and probabilistic teleportation protocol via a four-cluster state (Front. Phys. (2017) 12: 120306). The protocol cannot achieve the goal that if the teleportation fails, it can be repeated without copies of the teleported state. And the reason is that all the information of the teleported state shifts to the receiver's particle after Bell measurement and the information cannot shift back to the sender without other entangled states. To realize the claimed goal, a new quantum controlled and probabilistic teleportation protocol using the same four-cluster state is…
In this paper we provide an explicit parameterization of arbitrary unitary transformation acting on n qubits, in terms of one and two qubit quantum gates. The construction is based on successive Cartan decompositions of the semi-simple Lie group, SU(2^n). The decomposition highlights the geometric aspects of building an arbitrary unitary transformation out of quantum gates and makes explicit the choice of pulse sequences for the implementation of arbitrary unitary transformation on $n coupled spins. Finally we make observations on the optimality of the design procedure.
The partial adiabatic search algorithm was introduced in [A. Tulsi, Phys. Rev. A 80, 052328 (2009)] as a modification of the usual adiabatic algorithm for quantum search with the idea that most of the interesting computation only happens over a very short range of the adiabatic path. By focussing on that restricted range, one can potentially gain advantage by reducing the control requirements on the system, enabling a uniform rate of evolution. In this comment, we point out an oversight in the original work [1] that invalidates its proof. However, the argument can be corrected, and the calcula…
In this comment we show that the avian compass entanglement considerations of J. Cai, G. G. Guerreschi and H. J. Briegel (Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 220502 (2010)) result in unphysical predictions on the magnetic sensitivity of this biochemical sensor. As well known from a series of papers on precision measurements and detailed derivations of standard quantum limits, not taking into account decoherence results in an overestimate of the entanglement lifetime, and this is the case at hand. The entanglement lifetime is wrongly assumed by the authors to be independent of the reaction time (the inverse …
Recently, the authors of the commented PRL presented the $ N=\infty $ solution of the $ U(1)/Z_2 $ Dicke model studied by us previously. Here we point out that (1) The authors missed an important transformation relating the two parameter regimes, so their separate discussions on the two regimes is redundant. (2) Both $ N=\infty $ classical limit and $ 1/N $ quantum fluctuations have been achieved in two of our previously published papers. It is the $ 1/N $ quantum fluctuations which lead to the non-trivial new quantum phenomena. In view of only a few $ N=2\sim 9 $ qubits inside a circuit QED m…
Physical implementation of scalable quantum architectures faces an immense challenge in form of fragile quantum states. To overcome it, quantum architectures with fault tolerance is desirable. This is achieved currently by using surface code along with a transversal gate set. This dictates the need for decomposition of universal Multi Control Toffoli~(MCT) gates using a transversal gate set. Additionally, the transversal non-Clifford phase gate incurs high latency which makes it an important factor to consider during decomposition.Besides, the decomposition of large Multi-control Toffoli~(MCT)…
In a recent preprint arXiv:2203.15521 G. X. Chan, P. Huang, and X. Wang claim that triple-quantum dot superexchange in a (1, 0, 1) charge configuration exhibits a change of sign (going from positive to negative) as a function of middle dot detuning. Furthermore, their claim is that charge sweet-spots exist for specific values of the inter-dot detuning. Their analysis is based on the Hubbard model and something to what they refer to as the full Configuration-Interaction method. All of this findings were already reported by M. J. Rančić and G. Burkard in Ref. Phys. Rev. B 96, 201304(R) (2017) ba…
Multi-controlled unitary gates have been a subject of interest in quantum computing since its inception, and are widely used in quantum algorithms. The current state-of-the-art approach to implementing n-qubit multi-controlled gates involves the use of a quadratic number of single-qubit and CNOT gates. However, linear solutions are possible for the case where the controlled gate is a special unitary SU(2). The most widely-used decomposition of an n-qubit multi-controlled SU(2) gate requires a circuit with a number of CNOT gates proportional to 28n. In this work, we present a new decomposition …
In (quant-ph/0701141) Rajeev studied quantization of the damped simple harmonic oscillator and introduced a complex-valued Hamiltonian (which is normal). In this note we point out that the quantization is interpreted as a quantum mechanics with {\bf complex time}. We also present a problem on quantization of classical control systems.
