We investigate the relative particle number squeezing produced in the excited states of a weakly interacting condensate at zero temperature by stimulated light scattering using a pair of lasers. We shall show that a modest number of relative number squeezed particles can be achieved when atoms with momentum $k$, produced in pairs through collisions in the condensate, are scattered out by their interaction with the lasers. This squeezing is optimal when the momentum $k$ is larger than the inverse healing length, $k>k_0$. This modest number of relative number squeezed particles has the potential to be amplified in four-wave-mixing experiments.
The tantalizing promise of quantum computational speedup in solving certain problems has been strongly supported by recent experimental evidence from a high-fidelity 53-qubit superconducting processor1 and Gaussian boson sampling (GBS) with up to 76 detected photons. Analogous to the increasingly sophisticated Bell tests that continued to refute local hidden variable theories, quantum computational advantage tests are expected to provide increasingly compelling experimental evidence against the Extended Church-Turing thesis. In this direction, continued competition between upgraded quantum har…
Stimulated Raman spectroscopy has become a powerful tool to study the spatiodynamics of molecular bonds with high sensitivity, resolution and speed. However, sensitivity and speed of state-of-the-art stimulated Raman spectroscopy are currently limited by the shot-noise of the light beam probing the Raman process. Here, we demonstrate an enhancement of the sensitivity of continuous-wave stimulated Raman spectroscopy by reducing the quantum noise of the probing light below the shot-noise limit by means of amplitude squeezed states of light. Probing polymer samples with Raman shifts around 2950 $…
We present an analytical quantum theoretic model for non-resonant molecular two-photon absorption (TPA) of broadband, spectrally multi-mode squeezed vacuum, including low-gain (isolated entangled photon pairs or EPP) and high-gain (bright squeezed vacuum or BSV) regimes. The results are relevant to the potential use of entangled-light TPA as a spectroscopic and imaging method. We treat the scenario that the exciting light is spatially single-mode and is non-resonant with all intermediate molecular states. In the case of high gain, we find that in the case that the linewidth of the final molecu…
Entangled photon pairs -- discrete light quanta that exhibit non-classical correlations -- play a crucial role in quantum information science (for example in demonstrations of quantum non-locality and quantum cryptography). At the macroscopic optical field level non-classical correlations can also be important, as in the case of squeezed light, entangled light beams and teleportation of continuous quantum variables. Here we use stimulated parametric down-conversion to study entangled states of light that bridge the gap between discrete and macroscopic optical quantum correlations. We demonstra…
We investigate the generation of photon-phonon entangled states by exploiting stimulated Brillouin scattering in nanoscale waveguides. The squeezing type Hamiltonian that represents creation and annihilation of photon-phonon pairs is obtained out of the multimode photon-phonon interaction Hamiltonian in the presence of a pump field. The Bogoliubov eigenstates of the Hamiltonian, which are a coherent mix of propagating photons and phonons, show squeezing properties in the uncertainties of the collective quadrature operators. The measurement of the photonic component can provide a controllable s…
In this paper, the dynamics of fluorescent light emitted by a two-level atom interacts with squeezed vacuum reservoir is studied wisely using two-time correlation function fundamentals. The mathematical analysis shows the fluorescent spectrum of light emitted by the atom is turned out to be a single peak at a Lorentz's frequency. On the other hand, the squeezed vacuum reservoir input is responsible to the stimulated emission of photon from the atom. Moreover, it is identified that thermal reservoir is more efficient than squeezed vacuum reservoir to have valuable power spectrum.
Squeezed spin states have important applications in quantum metrology and sensing. It has been shown by Sørensen and Mølmer [Phys. Rev. A 66, 022314(2002)] that an effective one-axis-twisting interaction can be realized in a cavity setup via a double off-resonance stimulated Raman scattering, resulting in a noise reduction scaling $\propto 1/N^{2/3}$ with $N$ being the atom number. Here, we show that, by making an appropriate change of the initial input spin state, it is possible to produce a one-axis-twisting spin squeezing via a \emph{single} off-resonance stimulated Raman scattering, which …
We introduce the concept of a squeezed laser, in which a squeezed cavity mode develops a macroscopic photonic occupation due to stimulated emission. Above the lasing threshold, the emitted light retains both the spectral purity inherent of a laser and the photon correlations characteristic of a photonic mode with squeezed quadratures. Our proposal, which can be implemented in optical setups, relies on the parametric driving of the cavity and dissipative stabilization by a broadband squeezed vacuum. The squeezed laser can find applications that go beyond those of standard lasers thanks to the s…
We show how to reach high fidelity NOON states with a high count rate inside optical interferometers. Recently it has been shown that by mixing squeezed and coherent light at a beamsplitter it is possible to generate NOON states of arbitrary N with a fidelity as high as 94%. (Afek I. et al. Science 328, 879 (2010)). The scheme is based on higher order interference between "quantum" down-converted light and "classical" coherent light. However, this requires optimizing the amplitude ratio of classical to quantum light thereby limiting the overall count rate for the interferometric super-resoluti…
We present in this letter a scheme for optical interferometry. We utilize coherent-beam-stimulated two-mode squeezed light, which interacts with a phase shifter and is then squeezed again before detection. Our theoretical device has the potential to reach far below the shot noise limit (SNL) in phase sensitivity. This new proposal avoids the pitfalls of other setups, such as difficulty in creating the required resource. Furthermore, our scheme requires no complicated detection protocol, relying instead only on simple intensity measurement. Also, bright, coherent sources "boost" squeezed light,…

We introduce a convenient set of analytical tools (the Gaussian formalism) and diagrams (symplectic circuits) to analyze multi-mode scattering events in analog gravity, such as pair-creation a lá Hawking by black hole and white hole analog event horizons. The diagrams prove to be valuable ansatzes for the scattering dynamics, especially in settings where direct analytic results are not straightforward and one must instead rely on numerical simulations. We use these tools to investigate entanglement generation in single- and multi-horizon scenarios, in particular when the Hawking process is sti…
In this article, we use quantum Langevin equations to provide a theoretical understanding of the non-classical behavior of Kerr optical frequency combs when pumped below and above threshold. In the configuration where the system is under threshold, the pump field is the unique oscillating mode inside the resonator, and triggers the phenomenon of spontaneous four-wave mixing, where two photons from the pump are symmetrically up- and down-converted in the Fourier domain. This phenomenon can only be understood and analyzed from a fully quantum perspective as a consequence of the coupling between …
Resonance fluorescence arises from the interaction of an optical field with a two-level system and has played a fundamental role in the development of quantum optics and its applications. Despite its conceptual simplicity it entails a wide range of intriguing phenomena, such as the Mollow-triplet emission spectrum and coherent photon emission. One fundamental aspect of resonance fluorescence, reduced quantum fluctuations in the single photon stream from an atom in free space, was predicted more than 30 years ago. However, the requirement to operate in the weak excitation regime, together with …
We show that it is possible to realize simultaneous Raman lasing at two different frequencies using a double-$Λ$ system pumped by a bi-frequency field. The Raman lasers are phase-locked to one another, and the beat-frequency matches the energy difference between the two meta-stable ground states. Akin to a conventional Raman laser, the phase-locked Raman laser pair is expected to be subluminal. As such, it is expected to be highly stable against perturbations in cavity length, and have a quantum noise limited linewidth that is far below that of a conventional laser. Because of these properties…
We analyze quantum entanglement of Stokes light and atomic electronic polarization excited during single-pass, linear-regime, stimulated Raman scattering in terms of optical wave-packet modes and atomic-ensemble spatial modes. The output of this process is confirmed to be decomposable into multiple discrete, bosonic mode pairs, each pair undergoing independent evolution into a two-mode squeezed state. For this we extend the Bloch-Messiah reduction theorem, previously known for discrete linear systems (S. L. Braunstein, Phys. Rev. A, vol. 71, 055801 (2005)). We present typical mode functions in…
We present a detailed theoretical study of light scattering off superfluid trapped Fermi gas of atoms at zero temperature. We apply Nambu-Gorkov formalism of superconductivity to calculate the response function of superfluid gas due to stimulated light scattering taking into account the final state interactions. The polarization of light has been shown to play a significant role in response of Cooper-pairs in the presence of a magnetic field. Particularly important is a scheme of polarization-selective light scattering by either spin-component of the Cooper-pairs leading to the single-particle…
