For the interactions between a He($2 ^3S$) atom and a He($2 ^3P$) atom for like isotopes, we report perturbation theoretic calculations using accurate variational wave functions in Hylleraas coordinates of the coefficients determining the potential energies at large internuclear separations. We evaluate the coefficient $C_{3}$ of the first order resonant dipole-dipole energy and the van der Waals coefficients $C_{6}$, $C_{8}$, and $C_{10}$ for the second order energies arising from the mutual perturbations of instantaneous electric dipole, quadrupole, and octupole interactions. We also evaluate the coefficient $C_{9}$ of the leading contribution to the third order energy. We establish definitive values including treatment of the finite nuclear mass for the ${}^3$He($2 ^3S$)--${}^3$He($2 ^3P$) and ${}^4$He($2 ^3S$)--${}^4$He($2 ^3P$) interactions.
We demonstrate a combination of an isotopically purified atom beam and a magneto-optical trap which enables the single atom detection of all stable isotopes of calcium (40, 42, 43, 44, 46 and 48). These isotopes range in abundance from 96.9 % (40Ca) to 0.004 (46Ca). The trap is loaded from an atomic beam which is decelerated in a Zeeman slower and subsequently deflected over an angle of 30 degrees by optical molasses. The isotope selectivity of the Zeeman slower and the deflection stage is investigated experimentally and compared with Monte Carlo simulations.
X-Ray transition energies and isotope shifts in heavy atoms are evaluated. The energy levels with vacancies in the inner shells are calculated within the approximation of the average of nonrelativistic configuration employing the Dirac-Fock-Sturm method. The obtained results are compared with other configuration-interaction theoretical calculations and with experimental data.
We confine 4 10^8 fermionic 6Li atoms simultaneously with 9 10^9 bosonic 7Li atoms in a magneto-optical trap based on an all-semiconductor laser system. We optimize the two-isotope sample for sympathetic evaporative cooling. This is an essential step towards the production of a quantum-degenerate gas of fermionic lithium atoms.
The circular polarized laser beam of the ``magic'' wavelength may be used for mixing the $^3P_1$ state into the long-living metastable state $^3P_0$, thus enabling the strictly forbidden $^1S_0$$-$$^3P_0$ ''clock'' transition in even isotopes of alkaline-earth-like atoms, without change of the transition frequency. In odd isotopes the laser beam may adjust to an optimum value the line width of the "clock" transition, originally enabled by the hyperfine mixing. We present a detailed analysis of various factors influencing resolution and uncertainty for an optical frequency standard based on ato…
High-harmonic generation from hydrogenlike muonic atoms exposed to ultraintense high-frequency laser fields is calculated. Systems of low nuclear charge number Z are considered where a nonrelativistic description applies. By comparing the radiative response for different isotopes we demonstrate characteristic signatures of the finite nuclear mass and size in the harmonic spectra. In particular, for Z>1, an effective muon charge appears in the Schrödinger equation for the relative particle motion, which influences the position of the harmonic cutoff. Cutoff energies in the MeV domain can be ach…
Examination of loading the isotopes $^{85}$Rb and $^{87}$Rb simultaneously into a shallow far-off-resonance trap (FORT) has revealed an unexpected decrease in maximum atom number loaded as compared to loading either isotope alone. The simultaneous loading of the FORT will be affected by additional homonuclear and heteronuclear light-assisted collisional losses. However, these losses are measured and found to be insufficient to explain the observed drop in total number of atoms loaded into the FORT. We find that our observations are consistent with a decrease in loading rate caused by inter-iso…
Due to the similar physical and chemical properties, isotopes are usually hard to separate. On the other hand, the isotope shifts are very well separated in a high-resolution spectrum, making them possible to be addressed individually by lasers, thus separated. Here we report such an isotope separation experiment with Potassium atoms. The isotopes are independently optical pumped to the desired spin states, and then separated with a Stern-Gerlach scheme. A micro-capillary oven is used to collimate the atomic beam, and a Halbach-type magnet array is used to deflect the desired atoms. Finally, t…
We have developed a unique neutralizer device that uses an yttrium target surrounded by a platinum wall to magneto-optically trap radioactive atoms. In general, the radioactive nucleus produced in a nuclear reaction is extracted and transported in ion form. For the magneto-optical trap, thermal neutralization must occur on the surface of a metal with a small work function. The converter can produce a neutral atomic beam with small angular divergence that, given the recycling of atoms and ions, converts ions into neutral atoms with remarkable efficiency. We demonstrated the ion neutralization p…
This work presents a method for the ab initio calculation of isotope shift in atoms and ions with one valence electron above closed shells. As a zero approximation we use relativistic Hartree-Fock and then calculate correlation corrections. The main motivation for developing the method comes from the need to analyse whether different isotope abundances in early universe can contribute to the observed anomalies in quasar absorption spectra. The current best explanation for these anomalies is the assumption that the fine structure constant, alpha, was smaller at early epoch. We test the isotope …
Isotope separation is one of the grand challenges of modern society and holds great potential for basic science, medicine, energy, and defense. We consider here a new and general approach to isotope separation. The method is based on an irreversible change of the mass-to-magnetic moment ratio of a particular isotope in an atomic beam, followed by a magnetic multipole whose gradients deflect and guide the atoms. The underlying mechanism is a reduction of the entropy of the beam by the information of a single-scattered photon for each atom that is separated. We numerically simulate isotope separ…
When two of three pairs of the Gaussian laser beams of a traditional MOT are misaligned in the racetrack configuration the effective coordinate-dependent vortex force do arise. Then an atom is accelerated by this vortex force until its velocity not balanced by the damping force. This situation may produce a stable ring of revolving atoms of a certain radius. Due to the different frequency and laser beams intensity dependences of the vortex, damping and trapping forces it is possible to equalize the radii of two orbiting groups of atoms in two-species or dual-isotope magneto-optical trap and so…
The determination of isotope ratios of noble gas atoms has many applications e.g. in physics, nuclear arms control, and earth sciences. For several applications, the concentration of specific noble gas isotopes (e.g. Kr and Ar) is so low that single atom detection is highly desirable for a precise determination of the concentration. As an important step in this direction, we demonstrate operation of a krypton Atom Trap Trace Analysis (ATTA) setup based on a magneto-optical trap (MOT) for metastable Kr atoms excited by all-optical means. Compared to other state-of-the-art techniques for prepari…
We demonstrate a transversely polarized spin-exchange pumped noble gas comagnetometer which suppresses systematic errors from longitudinal polarization. Rb atoms as well as $^{131}$Xe and $^{129}$Xe nuclei are simultaneously polarized perpendicular to a pulsed bias field. Both Xe isotopes' nuclear magnetic resonance conditions are simultaneously satisfied by frequency modulation of the pulse repetition rate. The Rb atoms detect the Xe precession. We highlight the importance of magnetometer phase shifts when performing comagnetometry. For detection of non-magnetic spin-dependent interactions th…
Theory of the isotope shift of the centroid energies of light few-electron atoms is reviewed. Numerical results are presented for the isotope shift of the $2^3P$-$2^3S$ and $2^1S$-$2^3S$ transition energies of $^3$He and $^4$He. By comparing theoretical predictions for the isotope shift with the experimental results, the difference of the squares of the nuclear charge radii of $^3$He and $^4$He, $δR^2$, is determined with high accuracy.
We have experimentally realized a hybrid trap for ultracold paramagnetic rubidium and diamagnetic ytterbium atoms by combining a bichromatic optical dipole trap for ytterbium with a Ioffe-Pritchard-type magnetic trap for rubidium. In this hybrid trap, sympathetic cooling of five different ytterbium isotopes through elastic collisions with rubidium was achieved. A strong dependence of the interspecies collisional cross section on the mass of the ytterbium isotope was observed.
Accurate atomic structure calculations of complicated atoms with 4 or more valence electrons begin to push the memory and time limits of supercomputers. This paper presents a robust method of decreasing the size of \textit{ab initio} configuration interaction and many-body perturbation theory calculations without undermining the accuracy of the resulting atomic spectra. Our method makes it possible to saturate the CI matrix in atoms with many valence electrons. We test our method on the five-valence-electron atom tantalum and verify the convergence of the calculated energies. We then apply the…
Hyperfine quenching rates of the lowest-energy metastable $^3P_0$ and $^3P_2$ states of Mg, Ca, Sr, and Yb atoms are computed. The calculations are carried out using ab initio relativistic many-body methods. The computed lifetimes may be useful for designing novel ultra-precise optical clocks and trapping experiments with the $3P_2$ fermionic isotopes. The resulting natural widths of the $^3P_0 -> ^1S_0$ clock transition are 0.44 mHz for $^{25}$Mg, 2.2 mHz for $^{43}$Ca, 7.6 mHz for $^{87}$Sr, 43.5 mHz for $^{171}$Yb, and 38.5 mHz for $^{173}$Yb. Compared to the bosonic isotopes, the lifetime …
Bound state properties of the four-electron lithium ion Li$^{-}$ in its ground $2^{2}S-$state and isotope-subsistuted ${}^{6}$Li$^{-}$ and ${}^{7}$Li$^{-}$ ions in their ground $2^1S-$state(s) are determined from the results of accurate, variational computations. Another closely related problem discussed in this study is accurate numerical evaluation of the half-life of the beryllium-7 isotope. This problem is of paramount importance for modern radiochemistry.
Isotope shift of atomic spectra is considered as a probe of new interaction between electrons and neutrons in atoms. We employ the method of seeking a breakdown of King's linearity in the isotope shifts of two atomic transitions. In the present work, we evaluate the magnitudes of the nonlinearity using relativistic wave functions and the result is compared with that of nonrelativistic wave functions in our previous work. It turns out that the nonrelativistic calculation underestimates the nonlinearity owing to the new interaction in the mass range of the mediator greater than 1 MeV. Further, w…
We have successfully loaded a magneto-optic trap for Yb atoms from a thermal source without the use of a Zeeman slower. The source is placed close to the trapping region so that it provides a large flux of atoms that can be cooled and captured. The atoms are cooled on the ${^1S_0} \leftrightarrow {^1P_1}$ transition at 398.8 nm. We have loaded all seven stable isotopes of Yb into the trap. For the most abundant isotope ($^{174}$Yb), we load more than $10^7$ atoms into the trap within 1 s. For the rarest isotope ($^{168}$Yb) with a natural abundance of only 0.13%, we still load about $4 \times …
The present work reports results from systematic multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock calculations of electronic isotope shift factors for a set of transitions between low-lying states in neutral zinc. These electronic quantities together with observed isotope shifts between different pairs of isotopes provide the changes in mean-square charge radii of the atomic nuclei. Within this computational approach, different models for electron correlation are explored in a systematic way to determine a reliable computational strategy and to estimate theoretical error bars of the isotope shift factors…
A thermal atomic beam of dysprosium (Dy) atoms is cooled using the $4f^{10}6s^2 (J=8) \to 4f^{10}6s6p (J=9)$ transition at 421 nm. The cooling is done via a standing light wave orthogonal to the atomic beam. Efficient transverse cooling to the Doppler limit is demonstrated for all observable isotopes of dysprosium. Branching ratios to metastable states are demonstrated to be $<5\times10^{-4}$. A scheme for enhancement of the nonzero-nuclear-spin-isotope cooling, as well as a method for direct identification of possible trap states, is proposed.
We present an ab initio method of calculation of isotope shift in atoms with a few valence electrons, based on the configuration-interaction calculation of energy. The main motivation for developing the method comes from the need to analyze whether differences in isotope abundance in early universe can contribute to the observed anomalies in quasar absorption spectra. The current best explanation for these anomalies is the assumption that the fine structure constant, alpha, was smaller at early epoch. We show that we can calculate the isotope shift in magnesium with good accuracy.
We have demonstrated that the ion current resulting from collisions between metastable krypton atoms in a magneto-optical trap can be used to precisely measure the trap loading rate. We measured both the ion current of the abundant isotope Kr-83 (isotopic abundance = 11%) and the single-atom counting rate of the rare isotope Kr-85 (isotopic abundance ~ 1x10^-11), and found the two quantities to be proportional at a precision level of 0.9%. This work results in a significant improvement in using the magneto-optical trap as an analytical tool for noble-gas isotope ratio measurements, and will be…
Background: Atomic spectral lines from different isotopes display a small shift in energy, commonly referred to as the line isotope shift. One of the components of the isotope shift is the field shift, which depends on the extent and the shape of the nuclear charge density distribution. Purpose: To investigate how sensitive field shifts are with respect to variations in the nuclear size and shape and what information of nuclear charge distributions that can be extracted from measured field shifts. Methods: Nuclear properties are obtained from nuclear density functional theory calculations base…
The present work reports results from systematic multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock calculations of electronic isotope shift factors for a set of transitions between low-lying states in neutral aluminium. These electronic quantities together with observed isotope shifts between different pairs of isotopes provide the changes in mean-square charge radii of the atomic nuclei. Two computational approaches are adopted for the estimation of the mass- and field shift factors. Within these approaches, different models for electron correlation are explored in a systematic way to determine a reliabl…
We report a vapor-cell magneto-optical trapping of Hg isotopes on the ${}^1S_0-{}^3P_1$ intercombination transition. Six abundant isotopes, including four bosons and two fermions, were trapped. Hg is the heaviest non-radioactive atom trapped so far, which enables sensitive atomic searches for ``new physics'' beyond the standard model. We propose an accurate optical lattice clock based on Hg and evaluate its systematic accuracy to be better than $10^{-18}$. Highly accurate and stable Hg-based clocks will provide a new avenue for the research of optical lattice clocks and the time variation of t…
We investigate magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances in ultracold collisions between ground-state Yb and Cs atoms, using coupled-channel calculations based on an interaction potential recently determined from photoassociation spectroscopy. We predict resonance positions and widths for all stable isotopes of Yb, together with resonance decay parameters where appropriate. The resonance patterns are richer and more complicated for fermionic Yb than for spin-zero isotopes, because there are additional level splittings and couplings due to scalar and tensorial Yb hyperfine interactions. We exami…
The neutron-rich 6He and 8He isotopes exhibit an exotic nuclear structure that consists of a tightly bound 4He-like core with additional neutrons orbiting at a relatively large distance, forming a halo. Recent experimental efforts have succeeded in laser trapping and cooling these short-lived, rare helium atoms, and have measured the atomic isotope shifts along the 4He-6He-8He chain by performing laser spectroscopy on individual trapped atoms. Meanwhile, the few-electron atomic structure theory, including relativistic and QED corrections, has reached a comparable degree of accuracy in the calc…
This work reports on the application of a novel electric field-ionization setup for high-resolution laser spectroscopy measurements on bunched fast atomic beams in a collinear geometry. In combination with multi-step resonant excitation to Rydberg states using pulsed lasers, the field ionization technique demonstrates increased sensitivity for isotope separation and measurement of atomic parameters over non-resonant laser ionization methods. The setup was tested at the Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy experiment at ISOLDE-CERN to perform high-resolution measurements of transitions i…
The experimental concept of a search for a long-range coupling between rubidium (Rb) nuclear spins and the mass of the Earth is described. The experiment is based on simultaneous measurement of the spin precession frequencies for overlapping ensembles of Rb-85 and Rb-87 atoms contained within an evacuated, antirelaxation-coated vapor cell. Rubidium atoms are spin-polarized in the presence of an applied magnetic field by synchronous optical pumping with circularly polarized laser light. Spin precession is probed by measuring optical rotation of far-off-resonant, linearly polarized laser light. …
A general formalism is used to express the long-range potential energies in inverse powers of the separation distance between two like atomic or molecular systems with $P$ symmetries. The long-range molecular interaction coefficients are calculated for the molecular symmetries $Δ$, $Π$, and $Σ$, arising from the following interactions: He($2 ^1P$)--He($2 ^1P$), He($2 ^1P$)--He($2 ^3P$), and He($2 ^3P$)--He($2 ^3P$). The electric quadrupole-quadrupole term, $C_{5}$, the van der Waals (dispersion) term $C_{6}$, and higher-order terms, $C_{8}$, and $C_{10}$, are calculated \textit{ab initio} usin…
We have magneto-optically trapped all three stable neon isotopes, including the rare Ne-21, and all two-isotope combinations. The atoms are prepared in the metastable ^3P_2 state and manipulated via laser interaction on the ^3P_2 to ^3D_3} transition at 640.2nm. These cold (T = 1mK) and environmentally decoupled atom samples present ideal objects for precision measurements and the investigation of interactions between cold and ultracold metastable atoms. In this work, we present accurate measurements of the isotope shift of the ^3P_2 to ^3D_3 transition and the hyperfine interaction constants …
We investigate heteronuclear collisions in isotope mixtures of laser-cooled metastable 3P2 neon. Experiments are performed with spin-polarized atoms in a magnetic trap for all two-isotope combinations of the stable neon isotopes 20Ne, 21Ne, and 22Ne. We determine the rate coefficients for heteronuclear ionizing collisions to beta_{21,20}=(3.9+/-2.7) x 10^{-11} cm^3/s, beta_{22,20}=(2.6+/-0.7) x 10^{-11} cm^3/s, and beta_{21,22}=(3.9+/-1.9) x 10^{-11} cm^3/s. We also study heteronuclear elastic collision processes and give upper bounds for heteronuclear thermal relaxation cross sections. This w…
Darwin-Foldy nuclear-size corrections in electronic atoms and nuclear radii are discussed from the nuclear-physics perspective. Interpretation of precise isotope-shift measurements is formalism dependent, and care must be exercised in interpreting these results and those obtained from relativistic electron scattering from nuclei. We strongly advocate that the entire nuclear-charge operator be used in calculating nuclear-size corrections in atoms, rather than relegating portions of it to the non-radiative recoil corrections. A preliminary examination of the intrinsic deuteron radius obtained fr…
We have measured the isotope shift of the narrow quadrupole-allowed 5 2S1/2 - 4 2D5/2 transition in 86Sr+ relative to the most abundant isotope 88Sr+. This was accomplished using high-resolution laser spectroscopy of individual trapped ions, and the measured shift is Delta-nu_meas^(88,86) = 570.281(4) MHz. We have also tested a recently developed and successful method for ab-initio calculation of isotope shifts in alkali-like atomic systems against this measurement, and our initial result of Delta-nu_calc^(88,86) = 457(28) MHz is also presented. To our knowledge, this is the first high precisi…
Isotope shifts (ISs) in atomic energy levels are sensitive probes of nuclear structure and new physics beyond the Standard Model. We present an analysis of the ISs of the cadmium atom (Cd I) and singly charged cadmium ion (Cd II). ISs of the 229 nm, 326 nm, 361 nm and 480 nm lines of Cd I are measured with a variety of techniques; buffer-gas-cooled beam spectroscopy, capturing atoms in a magneto-optic-trap, and optical pumping. IS constants for the D1 and D2 lines of Cd II are calculated with high accuracy by employing analytical response relativistic coupled-cluster theory in the singles, dou…
We present a realization of a magneto-optical trap of mercury atoms on the intercombination line. We report on trapping of all stable mercury isotopes. We characterize the effect of laser detuning, laser intensity, and gradient field on the trapping performance of our system. The atom number for the most abundant isotope Hg-202 is 50 million atoms. Moreover, we study the difference in cooling processes for bosonic and fermionic isotopes. We observe agreement with the Doppler cooling theory for the bosonic species and show sub-Doppler cooling for the fermionic species. We reach a phase space de…
We report on a conceptually new test of the equivalence principle performed by measuring the acceleration in Earth's gravity field of two isotopes of strontium atoms, namely, the bosonic $^{88}$Sr isotope which has no spin vs the fermionic $^{87}$Sr isotope which has a half-integer spin. The effect of gravity upon the two atomic species has been probed by means of a precision differential measurement of the Bloch frequency for the two atomic matter waves in a vertical optical lattice. We obtain the values $η= (0.2\pm 1.6)\times10^{-7}$ for the Eötvös parameter and $k=(0.5\pm1.1)\times10^{-7}$ …
We demonstrate generation of an isotopically pure beam of laser-cooled Yb atoms by deflection using 1D-optical molasses. Atoms in a collimated thermal beam are first slowed using a Zeeman Slower. They are then subjected to a pair of molasses beams inclined at $45^\circ$ with respect to the slowed atomic beam. The slowed atoms are deflected and probed at a distance of 160 mm. We demonstrate selective deflection of the bosonic isotope $^{174}$Yb, and the fermionic isotope $^{171}$Yb. Using a transient measurement after the molasses beams are turned on, we find a longitudinal temperature of 41 mK…
We present in this paper a Herriott-cavity-assisted closed-loop Xe isotope gas comagnetometer. In this system, $^{129}$Xe and $^{131}$Xe atoms are pumped and probed by polarized Rb atoms, and continuously driven by oscillating magnetic fields, whose frequencies are kept on resonance by phase-locked loops (PLLs). Different from other schemes, we use a Herriott cavity to improve the Rb magnetometer sensitivity instead of the parametric modulation method, and this passive method is aimed to improve the system stability while maintaining the sensitivity. This system has demonstrated an angle rando…
In light of new data on neutron distributions from experiments with antiprotonic atoms [ Trzcinska {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. 87, 082501 (2001)], we reexamine the role of nuclear-structure uncertainties in the interpretation of measurements of parity violation in atoms using chains of isotopes of the same element. With these new nuclear data, we find an improvement in the sensitivity of isotopic chain measurements to ``new physics'' beyond the standard model. We compare possible constraints on ``new physics'' with the most accurate to date single-isotope probe of parity violation in the Cs…
We calculated the magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole hyperfine interaction constants of 3s3p $^{3,1}P^o_1$ states and the isotope shift, including mass and field shift, factors for transitions from these two states to the ground state 3s$^2~^1S_0$ in Al$^+$ ions using the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock method. The effects of the electron correlations and the Breit interaction on these physical quantities were investigated in detail based on the active space approach. It is found that the CC and the higher-order correlations are considerable for evaluating the uncertainties of t…
We demonstrate a one-dimensional optical lattice clock with ultracold 171Yb atoms, which is free from the linear Zeeman effect. The absolute frequency of the 1S0(F = 1/2) - 3P0(F = 1/2) clock transition in 171Yb is determined to be 518 295 836 590 864(28) Hz with respect to the SI second.
Long-lived isotopes of plutonium were studied using two complementary techniques, high-resolution resonance ionisation spectroscopy (HR-RIS) and collinear laser spectroscopy (CLS). Isotope shifts have been measured on the $5f^67s^2\ ^7F_0 \rightarrow 5f^56d^27s\ (J=1)$ and $5f^67s^2\ ^7F_1 \rightarrow 5f^67s7p\ (J=2)$ atomic transitions using the HR-RIS method and the hyperfine factors have been extracted for the odd mass nuclei $^{239,241}$Pu. Collinear laser spectroscopy was performed on the $5f^67s\ ^8F_{1/2} \rightarrow J=1/2\; (27523.61\text{cm}^{-1})$ ionic transition with the hyperfine …
Isotope selective optical excitation of atoms is important for experiments with neutral atoms, metrology, and work with trapped ions, including quantum information processing. Polarization-enhanced absorption spectroscopy is used to frequency stabilise a tunable external cavity laser diode system at 398.9 nm for isotope selective photoionization of neutral Yb atoms. This spectroscopy technique is used to measure isotope resolved dispersive features from transitions within a see through configuration Ytterbium hollow-cathode discharge lamp. This Doppler-free dichroic polarization spectroscopy i…
We propose a novel approach to probe new fundamental interactions using isotope shift spectroscopy in atomic clock transitions. As concrete toy example we focus on the Higgs boson couplings to the building blocks of matter: the electron and the up and down quarks. We show that the attractive Higgs force between nuclei and their bound electrons, that is poorly constrained, might induce effects that are larger than the current experimental sensitivities. More generically, we discuss how new interactions between the electron and the neutrons, mediated via light new degrees of freedom, may lead to…

Continuous-wave output at 229 nm for the application of laser cooling of Cd atoms was generated by the 4th harmonic using two successive second harmonic generation stages. Employing a single-frequency optically pumped semiconductor laser as a fundamental source, 0.56 W of output at 229 nm was observed with a 10-mm long, Brewster-cut BBO crystal in an external cavity with 1.62 W of 458 nm input. Conversion efficiency from 458 nm to 229 nm was more than 34%. By applying a tapered amplifier as a fundamental source, we demonstrated magneto-optical trapping of all stable Cd isotopes including isoto…
We report the relativistic coupled cluster study of the hyperfine structure and effect of the nuclear magnetization distribution (Bohr-Weisskopf effect) in the $6P_{1/2}$, $6P_{3/2}$ and $7S_{1/2}$ states of several Tl isotopes. It is shown that the Gaussian basis set can be used in such electronic structure calculations and provide a good accuracy. For the ground electronic state of the neutral Tl atom achieved uncertainty for the hyperfine structure constant is smaller than 1\%. A strong Bohr-Weisskopf correction (about 16\%) was found for the $6P_{3/2}$ state which can be of interest for th…
