The cesium 6S_1/2 scalar dipole polarizability alpha_0 has been determined from the time-of-flight of laser cooled and launched cesium atoms traveling through an electric field. We find alpha_0 = 6.611+-0.009 x 10^-39 C m^2/V= 59.42+-0.08 x 10^-24 cm^3 = 401.0+-0.6 a_0^3. The 0.14% uncertainty is a factor of fourteen improvement over the previous measurement. Values for the 6P_1/2 and 6P_3/2 lifetimes and the 6S_1/2 cesium-cesium dispersion coefficient C_6 are determined from alpha_0 using the procedure of Derevianko and Porsev [Phys. Rev. A 65, 053403 (2002)].
Measurement of the ratio of the scalar polarizability to the vector polarizability for the $6s ^2S_{1/2} \rightarrow 7s ^2S_{1/2}$ transition in cesium
We present a systematic derivation of the dynamical polarizability and the ac Stark shift of the ground and excited states of atoms interacting with a far-off-resonance light field of arbitrary polarization. We calculate the scalar, vector, and tensor polarizabilities of atomic cesium using resonance wavelengths and reduced matrix elements for a large number of transitions. We analyze the properties of the fictitious magnetic field produced by the vector polarizability in conjunction with the ellipticity of the polarization of the light field.
We present a theoretical analysis of the Stark effect in the hyperfine structure of the cesium ground-state. We have used third order perturbation theory, including diagonal and off-diagonal hyperfine interactions, and have identified terms which were not considered in earlier treatments. A numerical evaluation using perturbing levels up to n=18 yields new values for the tensor polarizability $α_2(6S_{1/2})$ and for the Stark shift of the clock transition frequency in cesium. The polarizabilities are in good agreement with experimental values, thereby removing a 40-year-old discrepancy. The cl…
Experimental results and high-level quantum chemical ab initio calculations of the static polarizability $α_0=α(ω=0)$ of the cadmium ${^1S_0}$ state are still in marked disagreement. Here we analyze this discrepancy by using experimentally determined dipole oscillator strength distributions (DOSD). It will be shown that within this procedure the experimentally determined static polarizability $α_0$ will shift from $49.7 \pm 1.6~$au to considerably lower values. We now conclude an experimentally determined polarizability of $α_0=47.5 \pm 2.0~$au in much better agreement with the latest calculat…
We report measurements of the Stark shift of the cesium $6s \: ^2S_{3/2} \rightarrow 7p \: ^2P_{3/2} $ and the $6s \: ^2S_{1/2} \rightarrow 7p \: ^2P_{1/2} $ transitions at $λ= 456$ nm and 459 nm, respectively, in an atomic beam. From these, we determine the static scalar polarizability for both 7P states, and the tensor polarizability for the 7P$_{3/2}$ state. The fractional uncertainty of the scalar polarizabilites is $\sim$0.18\%, while that of the tensor term is 0.66\%. These measurements provide sensitive tests of theoretical models of the Cs atom, which has played a central role in parit…
A procedure is described for the precise nonrelativistic evaluation of the dipole polarizabilities of H_2^+ and D_2^+ that avoids any approximation based on the size of the electron mass relative to the nucleus mass. The procedure is constructed so that sum rules may be used to assess the accuracy of the calculation. The resulting polarizabilities are consistent with experiment within the error bars of the measurements and are far more precise than values obtained by other theoretical methods.
We have measured the 6s - 7p_{1/2,3/2} transition probabilities in atomic cesium using a direct absorption technique. We use our result plus other previously measured transition rates to derive an accurate value of the vector transition polarizability βand, consequently, re-evaluate the weak charge Q_W. Our derived value Q_W=-72.65(49) agrees with the prediction of the standard model to within one standard deviation.
We have trapped cesium atoms over many minutes in the focus of a CO$_2$-laser beam employing an extremely simple laser system. Collisional properties of the unpolarized atoms in their electronic ground state are investigated. Inelastic binary collisions changing the hyperfine state lead to trap loss which is quantitatively analyzed. Elastic collisions result in evaporative cooling of the trapped gas from 25 $μ$K to 10 $μ$K over a time scale of about 150 s.
Using a long-range polarization potential for HeH$^{+}$, we can obtain an empirical value for the Boltzmann constant $k_{B}$ with an order of magnitude greater precision than the previous best experimental value based on the dipole polarizability of $^{4}$He. We find that relativistic and QED effects of order $α_{\rm FS}^{3}$ in the fine structure constant are crucial in the quadrupole polarizability in order to fit the dipole polarizbility with this precision using the polarization potential. By calculating finite-mass corrections for $^{3}$He, we also present theoretical values for the dipol…
We present the first simultaneous trapping of two different ultracold atomic species in a conservative trap. Lithium and cesium atoms are stored in an optical dipole trap formed by the focus of a CO$_2$ laser. Techniques for loading both species of atoms are discussed and observations of elastic and inelastic collisions between the two species are presented. A model for sympathetic cooling of two species with strongly different mass in the presence of slow evaporation is developed. From the observed Cs-induced evaporation of Li atoms we estimate a cross section for cold elastic Li-Cs collision…
The static dipole polarizabibility for the $1sσ$ electron state of the $\mathrm{H}_{2}^{+}$ hydrogen molecular ion is calculated within Born-Oppenheimer approximation. The variational expansion with randomly chosen exponents has been used for numerical studies. The results obtained for the dipole polarizability are accurate to the nine digits.
We report the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole hyperfine coupling constants of 6 P_{3/2} state of ^{133} Cs(I= {7/2}) obtained from the relativistic coupled cluster (RCC) method. To our knowledge, no prior electric quadrupole hyperfine CC calculation is available for ^{133} Cs(6 P_{3/2}) state. Our computed magnetic dipole (A) and electric quadrupole (B) coupling constants are in excellent agreement with the experiment.
A model for positron binding to polar molecules is considered by combining the dipole potential outside the molecule with a strongly repulsive core of a given radius. Using existing experimental data on binding energies leads to unphysically small core radii for all of the molecules studied. This suggests that electron-positron correlations neglected in the simple model play a large role in determining the binding energy. We account for these by including polarization potential via perturbation theory and non-perturbatively. The perturbative model makes reliable predictions of binding energies…
Long ground-Rydberg coherence lifetime is interesting for implementing high-fidelity quantum logic gates, many-body physics, and other quantum information protocols. However, the potential formed by a conventional far-off-resonance red-detuned optical-dipole trap (ODT) is usually repulsive for Rydberg atoms, which will result in fast atom loss and low repetition rate of the experimental sequence. These issues can be addressed by a magic ODT. We performed the calculation of ODT's magic detuning for confinement of cesium ground state and Rydberg state with the same potential well. We used a sum-…
The static dipole polarizability for the hydrogen molecular ions H$_2^+$, HD$^+$, and D$_2^+$ are calculated. These new data for polarizability takes into account the leading order relativistic corrections to the wave function of the three-body system resulted from the Breit-Pauli Hamiltonian of $mα^4$ order. Our study covers a wide range of rotational ($L=0-5$) and vibrational ($v=0-10$) states, which are of practical interest for precision spectroscopy of the hydrogen molecular ions.
Electric-dipole matrix elements for 6p-nd, n=5, 6, 7 transitions in cesium are calculated using a relativistic all-order method. The resulting matrix elements are used to evaluate 5d lifetimes and 6p polarizabilities. The data are compared with experimental lifetime and polarizability measurements made by different groups. Domination of the 6p scalar polarizabilities by 5d-6p dipole matrix elements facilitates an exacting consistency check of 5d lifetime and 6p polarizability data. Values of 5d-6p matrix elements obtained from experimental 5d lifetime data are found to be inconsistent with tho…
The recently reported precise experimental determination of the dipole polarizability of the H_2^+ molecular ion ground state [P.L. Jacobson, R.A. Komara, W.G. Sturrus, and S.R. Lundeen, Phys. Rev. A 62, 012509 (2000)] reveals a discrepancy between theory and experiment of about 0.0007a_0^3, which has been attributed to relativistic and QED effects. In present work we analyze an influence of the relativistic effects on the scalar dipole polarizability of an isolated H_2^+ molecular ion. Our conclusion is that it accounts for only 1/5 of the measured discrepancy.
Nonrelativistic and relativistic coupled-cluster calculations extrapolated to the complete basis set limit including excitations up to the quintuple level (CCSDTQP) were carried out to accurately determine the static electric dipole polarizability of the closed-shell palladium atom. The resulting value of $α$ = 26.14(10) a.u. implies that palladium has the smallest dipole polarizability of all known elemental metal atoms due to its unique 4d$^{10}$5s$^0$ configuration. Relativistic effects are found to be already sizeable ($Δ_Rα$= +1.86~a.u.) compared to electron correlation ($Δ_Cα$= +5.06~a.u…
Using recent high-precision measurements of electric dipole matrix elements of atomic cesium, we make an improved determination of the scalar ($α$) and vector ($β$) polarizabilities of the cesium $6s \ ^2S_{1/2} \rightarrow 7s \ ^2S_{1/2} $ transition calculated through a sum-over-states method. We report values of $α= -268.82 \ (30) \ a_0^3$ and $β= 27.139 \ (42) \ a_0^3$ with the highest precision to date. We find a discrepancy between our value of $β$ and the past preferred value, resulting in a significant shift in the value of the weak charge $Q_w$ of the cesium nucleus. Future work to re…
A proof-of-principle electron electric dipole moment (e-EDM) experiment using slow cesium atoms, nulled magnetic fields, and electric field quantization has been performed. With the ambient magnetic fields seen by the atoms reduced to less than 200 pT, an electric field of 6 MV/m lifts the degeneracy between states of unequal mF and, along with the low (approximately 3 m/s) velocity, suppresses the systematic effect from the motional magnetic field. The low velocity and small residual magnetic field have made it possible to induce transitions between states and to perform state preparation, an…
$^{129}$Xe is an important candidate for the searches of electric dipole moments due to violations of time-reversal and parity violations in diamagnetic atoms. In view of the similarities between the electric dipole moment and the polarizability from the point of view of many-body theory, we have performed rigorous calculations of the ground state polarizability of $^{129}$Xe using a self consistent relativistic coupled-cluster method and the relativistic normal coupled-cluster method. The discrepancy between the results from these two methods is two percent, but each of them differs from the …
We develop a method based on the relativistic coupled-cluster theory to incorporate a perturbative interaction to the no-pair Dirac-Coulomb atomic Hamiltonian. The method is general and suitable to incorporate any perturbation Hamiltonian in a many electron atom or ion. Using this perturbed relativistic coupled-cluster (PRCC) theory we calculate the electric dipole polarizability, $α$, of Neon. The linearized PRCC results are in very good agreement with the experimental value. However, the results of the nonlinear PRCC shows larger uncertainty but it is consistent with the observations from ea…
The dynamic electric dipole polarizability function for the magnesium atom is formed by assembling the atomic electric dipole oscillator strength distribution from combinations of theoretical and experimental data for resonance oscillator strengths and for photoionization cross sections of valence and inner shell electrons. Consistency with the oscillator strength (Thomas-Reiche-Kuhn) sum rule requires the adopted principal resonance line oscillator strength to be several percent lower than the values given in two critical tabulations, though the value adopted is consistent with a number of th…
The non-relativistic static and dynamic dipole polarizabilities of hydrogen atom experiencing a cylindrical confinement are investigated. Two methods based on B-Splines are used for the computations of the energies and wavefunctions. The first method is a variational based method while the second one proceeds by a fit of the non-separable Coulomb potential in the product form. The computed energies compare very well with previous computations. They converge, as well as the dipole polarizability, to the exact unconfined free atom values. The fit approach is found to be advantageous, as it helps…
We investigate single cesium (Cs) atom heating owing to the momentum accumulation process induced by the resonant pulsed excitation in a microscopic optical dipole trap formed by a strongly focused 1064 nm laser beam. The heating depends on the trap frequency which restricts the maximum repetition rate of pulsed excitation. We experimentally verify the heating of a single atom and then demonstrate how to suppress it with an optimized pulsed excitation/cooling method. The typical trap lifetime of single Cs atom is extended from 108 +/- 6 us to 2536 +/- 31 ms, and the corresponding number of exc…
Dipolar atoms have unique properties, making them interesting for laser cooling and quantum simulations. But, due to relatively large orbital momentum in the ground state these atoms may have large dynamic tensor and vector polarizabilities in the ground state. This enables the formation of spin-dependent optical traps. In this paper real part of tensor and vector dynamic polarizability was experimentally measured and compared to theoretical simulation. For an optical dipole trap operating around 532.07 nm tensor, polarizability was found to be $ - 145 \pm 53\,\,{\rm{a}}{\rm{.u}}{\rm{.}}$ and …
We have developed a Fock-space relativistic coupled-cluster theory based method for the calculation of electric dipole polarizability of one-valence atoms and ions. We employ this method to compute the ground-state and spin-orbit coupled excited state electric dipole polarizability of Al and In. To check the quality of many-electron wavefunctions, we also compute the excitation energies of some low-lying states of Al and In. The effects of Breit interaction and QED corrections from the Uehling potential and the self-energy are included to improve the accuracy of $α$ further. Our recommended va…
Cold Rydberg atoms subject to long-range dipole-dipole interactions represent a particularly interesting system for exploring few-body interactions and probing the transition from 2-body physics to the many-body regime. In this work we report the direct observation of a resonant 4-body Rydberg interaction. We exploit the occurrence of an accidental quasi-coincidence of a 2-body and a 4-body resonant Stark-tuned Forster process in cesium to observe a resonant energy transfer requiring the simultaneous interaction of at least four neighboring atoms. These results are relevant for the implementat…
The electric dipole moment (EDM) of paramagnetic atoms is sensitive to the intrinsic EDM contribution from that of its constituent electrons and a scalar--pseudo-scalar (S-PS) electron-nucleus interactions. The electron EDM and the S-PS EDM contribution to atomic EDM scales as Z^3. Thus, the heavy paramagnetic atomic systems will exhibit large enhancement factors. However, the nature of the coupling is so small that it becomes an interest of high precision atomic experiments. In this work, we have computed the EDM enhancement factors of the ground states of Rb and Cs due to both the electron E…
We calculate ground-state energies and densities of a helium atom confined in an impenetrable spherical box within density functional theory. These calculations are performed by variationally solving Kohn-Sham equation with the ground-state orbital expanded in terms of Slater-type orbitals. Using the ground-state densities we then calculate static linear polarizability and nonlinear hyperpolarizability and study their variation with the radius of confinement. We find that polarizability decreases monotonically with decreasing confinement radius and the hyperpolarizability not only decreases bu…
We present electric dipole polarizabilities ($α_d$) of the alkali-metal negative ions, from H$^-$ to Fr$^-$, by employing four-component relativistic many-body methods. Differences in the results are shown by considering Dirac-Coulomb (DC) Hamiltonian, DC Hamiltonian with the Breit interaction, and DC Hamiltonian with the lower-order quantum electrodynamics interactions. At first, these interactions are included self-consistently in the Dirac-Hartree-Fock (DHF) method, and then electron correlation effects are incorporated over the DHF wave functions in the second-order many-body perturbation …
The AC Stark shift induced by blackbody radiation is a major source of systematic uncertainty in present-day cesium microwave frequency standards. The shift is parametrized in terms of a third-order electric polarizability $α_0^{(3)}$ that can be inferred from the static electric field displacement of the clock transition resonance. In this paper, we report on an all-optical CPT pump-probe experiment measuring the differential polarizability $Δα_0^{(3)} = α_0^{(3)}(F{=}4) - α_0^{(3)}(F{=}3)$ on a thermal Cs atomic beam, from which we infer $ α_0^{(3)}(F{=}4) = 2.023(6)_{stat}(9)_{syst}~Hz/(kV/…
We report measurements of the absorption strength of the cesium $6s \: ^2S_{1/2} \rightarrow 7p \: ^2P_{3/2} $ and the $6s \: ^2S_{1/2} \rightarrow 7p \: ^2P_{1/2} $ transitions at $λ= 456$ nm and 459 nm, respectively, in an atomic vapor cell. By simultaneously measuring the absorption strength on the Cs D$_1$ line ($6s \: ^2S_{1/2} \rightarrow 6p \: ^2P_{1/2} $), for which the electric dipole transition moment is precisely known, we are able to determine the reduced dipole matrix elements for these two lines. We report $\langle 7P_{3/2} || r || 6S_{1/2} \rangle = 0.5780 \: (7) \: a_0$ and $\l…
We compute the ground-state electric dipole polarizability of group-IIIA ions using the perturbed relativistic coupled-cluster (PRCC) theory. To account for the relativistic effects and QED corrections, we use the Dirac-Coulomb-Breit Hamiltonian with the corrections from the Uehling potential and the self-energy. The effects of triple excitations are considered perturbatively in the PRCC. Our PRCC results for $α$ are good in agreement with the previous theoretical results for all the ions. From our computations we find that the nonlinear terms in PRCC have significant contributions and must be…
Based on the multi-level model, we have calculated light shifts for Zeeman states of hyperfine levels of cesium (Cs) 6S1/2 ground state and 6P3/2 excited state. The magic-wavelength linearly-polarized optical dipole trap (ODT) for Cs 6S1/2 F=4, mF=+4 - 6P3/2 F'=5, mF=+5 transition is experimentally constructed and characterized by using the laser-induced fluorescence spectra of trapped single Cs atoms. The magic wavelength is 937.7 nm which produces almost the same light shift for 6S1/2 F=4, mF=+4 ground state and 6P3/2 F'=5, mF=+5 excited state with linearly-polarized ODT laser beam. Compared …
Three earlier relativistic coupled-cluster (RCC) calculations of dipole polarizability ($α_d$) of the Cd atom are not in good agreement with the available experimental value of $49.65(1.65) \ e a_0^3$. Among these two are finite-field approaches in which the relativistic effects have been included approximately, while the other calculation uses a four component perturbed RCC method. However, another work adopting an approach similar to the latter perturbed RCC method gives a result very close to that of experiment. The major difference between these two perturbed RCC approaches lies in their i…
We report a measurement of the ratio of electric dipole transition matrix elements of cesium for the $6p\,^2P_{1/2} \rightarrow 7s\,^2S_{1/2}$ and $6p\,^2P_{3/2} \rightarrow 7s\,^2S_{1/2}$ transitions. We determine this ratio of matrix elements through comparisons of two-color, two-photon excitation rates of the $7s\,^2S_{1/2}$ state using laser beams with polarizations parallel to one another vs.\ perpendicular to one another. Our result of $R \equiv \langle 7s\ ^2S_{1/2} || r || 6p\ ^2P_{3/2} \rangle / \langle 7s\ ^2S_{1/2} || r || 6p\ ^2P_{1/2} \rangle = 1.5272 \ (17)$ is in excellent agree…
In this study, accurate static dipole polarizability and hyperpolarizability are calculated for Al$^+$ ground state 3s$^{2}$ $^{1}$S$_{0}$ and excited state $3s3p$ $^{3}$P$_{J}$ with $J$=0, 1, 2. The finite-field computations use energies obtained with the relativistic configuration interaction approach and the relativistic coupled-cluster approach. Excellent agreement with previously recommended values is found for the dipole polarizability of Al$^{+}$ ground state 3s$^{2}$ $^{1}$S$_{0}$ and excited state $3s3p$ $^{3}$P$_{0}$ as well as the hyperpolarizability of the ground state 3s$^{2}$ $^{…
We employ a fully relativistic coupled-cluster theory to calculate the ground-state electric dipole polarizability and electron correlation energy of superheavy elements Cn, Nh$^+$ and Og. To assess the trend of electron correlation as function of $Z$, we also calculate the correlation energies for three lighter homologs--Zn, Cd and Hg; Ga$^+$, In$^+$ and Tl$^+$; Kr, Xe and Rn--for each superheavy elements. The relativistic effects and quantum electrodynamical corrections are included using the Dirac-Coulomb-Breit Hamiltonian with the corrections from the Uehling potential and the self-energy.…
The perturbed relativistic coupled-cluster (PRCC) theory is applied to calculate the electric dipole polarizabilities of alkaline Earth metal atoms. The Dirac-Coulomb-Breit atomic Hamiltonian is used and we include the triple excitations in the relativistic coupled-cluster (RCC) theory. The theoretical issues related to the triple excitation cluster operators are described in detail and we also provide details on the computational implementation. The PRCC theory results are in good agreement with the experimental and previous theoretical results. We, then, highlight the importance of consideri…
We use perturbed relativistic coupled-cluster (PRCC) theory to compute the electric dipole polarizabilities $α$ of Zn, Cd and Hg. The computations are done using the Dirac-Coulomb-Breit Hamiltonian with Uehling potential to incorporate vacuum polarization corrections. The triple excitations are included perturbatively in the PRCC theory, and in the unperturbed sector, it is included non-perturbatively. Our results of $α$, for all the three elements, are in excellent agreement with the experimental data. The other highlight of the results is the orbital energy corrections from Breit interaction…
Fock-space perturbed relativistic coupled-cluster calculations of electric dipole polarizability and nuclear spin-dependent parity non-conservation in Cs
We present studies of strong coupling in single-photon photoassociation of cesium dimers using an optical dipole trap. A thermodynamic model of the trap depletion dynamics is employed to extract absolute rate coefficents. From the dependence of the rate coefficient on the photoassociation laser intensity, we observe saturation of the photoassociation scattering probability at the unitarity limit in quantitative agreement with the theoretical model by Bohn and Julienne [Phys. Rev. A, 60, 414 (1999)]. Also the corresponding power broadening of the resonance width is measured. We could not observ…
We report the hyperfine splitting (HFS) measurement of cesium (Cs) 7S1/2 state by optical-optical double-resonance spectroscopy in the 6S1/2-6P3/2-7S1/2 (852 nm + 1470 nm) ladder-type system. The HFS frequency calibration is performed by employing a phase-type waveguide electro-optic modulator together with a stable confocal Fabry-Perot cavity. From the measured HFS between F"= 3 and F"= 4 manifolds of Cs 7S1/2 state [HFS = 2183.273(37) MHz], we have determined the magnetic dipole hyperfine coupling constant [A = 545.818(09) MHz], which is in good agreement with the previous work but much more…
We present revised measurements of the static electric dipole polarizabilities of K, Rb, and Cs based on atom interferometer experiments presented in [Phys. Rev. A 2015, 92, 052513] but now re-analyzed with new calibrations for the magnitude and geometry of the applied electric field gradient. The resulting polarizability values did not change, but the uncertainties were significantly reduced. Then we interpret several measurements of alkali metal atomic polarizabilities in terms of atomic oscillator strengths $f_{ik}$, Einstein coefficients $A_{ik}$, state lifetimes $τ_{k}$, transition dipole…
The QED contribution to the dipole polarizability of the $^4$He atom was computed, including the effect of finite nuclear mass. The computationally most challenging contribution of the second electric-field derivative of the Bethe logarithm was obtained using two different methods: the integral representation method of Schwartz and the sum-over-states approach of Goldman and Drake. The results of both calculations are consistent, although the former method turned out to be much more accurate. The obtained value of the electric-field derivative of the Bethe logarithm, equal to $0.048\,557\,2(14…
We use perturbed relativistic coupled-cluster (PRCC) theory to calculate the electric dipole polarizability of noble gas atoms Ar, Kr, Xe and Rn. We also provide a detailed description of the nonlinear terms in the PRCC theory and consider the Dirac-Coulomb-Breit atomic Hamiltonian for the calculations. We find that the largest contribution from Breit interaction to the electric dipole polarizability is 0.1%, in the case of Rn. As we go from Ar to Rn, based on the pattern in the random phase approximation effects, the contraction of the outermost $p_{1/2}$ due to relativistic corrections is di…
Metrology in atomic physics has been crucial for a number of advanced determinations of fundamental constants. In addition to very precise frequency measurements, the molar polarizability of an atomic gas has recently also been measured very accurately. Part of the motivation for the measurements is due to ongoing efforts to redefine the International System of Units (SI) for which an accurate value of the Boltzmann constant is needed. Here, we calculate the dominant shift of the molar polarizability in an atomic gas due to thermal effects. It is given by the relativistic correction to the dip…
We study Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) of a cascade three-level atom involving 80$D_{5/2}$ state in a strong interaction regime employing a cesium ultracold cloud. In our experiment, a strong coupling laser couples 6$P_{3/2}$ to 80$D_{5/2}$ transition, while a weak probe, driving 6$S_{1/2}$ to 6$P_{3/2}$ transition, probes the coupling induced EIT signal. At the two-photon resonance, we observe that the EIT transmission decreases slowly with time, which is a signature of interaction induced metastability. The dephasing rate $γ_{\rm OD}$ is extracted with optical depth …
To operate an optical lattice clock at a fractional uncertainty below $10^{-17}$, one must typically consider not only electric-dipole (E1) interaction between an atom and the lattice light field when characterizing the resulting lattice light shift of the clock transition but also higher-order multipole contributions, such as electric-quadrupole (E2) and magnetic-dipole (M1) interactions. However, strongly incompatible values have been reported for the E2-M1 polarizability difference of the clock states $(5s5p)\,{}^{3}\mathrm{P}_{0}$ and $(5s^2)\,{}^{1}\mathrm{S}_{0}$ of strontium [Ushijima e…
