Tunneling time in the case of frustrated total reflection

The tunneling time is here investigated by means of an electromagnetic model, for a system where a gap, between two parallel planes, acts as a classically-forbidden region for an impinging pulse with incidence angle larger than the critical angle. In all cases of frustrated total reflection we obtain a superluminal behavior both for phase and group delays.

We have investigated that the Goos-Hänchen (GH) shifts in frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR) studied with wave packet propagation. Frustrated total internal reflection and the illusion of superluminal propagation

We analyze the propagation of a pulse across a vacuum gap separating opposite flat parallel faces of two transparent dielectrics by means of an explicitly causal and retarded propagator constructed directly from the free-space wave equation. Multibarrier tunneling

We study the tunneling through an arbitrary number of finite rectangular opaque barriers and generalize earlier results by showing that the total tunneling phase time depends neither on the barrier thickness nor on the inter-barrier separation.
